After Saving My Possessive Best Friend, I Couldn't Escape (GL) - Chapter 6
Sun Yangyang, with her apricot-shaped eyes, rosy cheeks, and sharp chin—the mistress number three—was a character of significant weight.
In the later part of the book, she even bullied Ye Yu, and after Ye Yu’s brother found out, he effectively “shoveled” her out of the country, where she disappeared without a trace.
Zhou Meize’s attitude towards this group of “numbers”—mistresses three, four, five, and six—was clearly documented in the book: it was akin to playing with cats and dogs. When she was in the mood, she would keep them around to amuse her, but deep down, she was incredibly arrogant and conceited.
The action of looking at the bottle just now was described in the original text as: “Zhou Meize glanced at the bottle in her hand—the most common kind of mountain spring water. The cheap plasticky feel of the bottle was very inferior, just like the girl in the street-vendor dress in front of her. But it wasn’t a big deal; a few of the cats Ye Yu kept were ugly, common garden cats, and she never disliked them.”
In the distance, Ye Yu saw this scene, and her running motion suddenly slowed.
An alarm blared in Fang Zhile’s heart. Every time Ye Yu had a dark transformation in the book, it was related to this group of “numbers.” Whenever mistresses three, four, five, or six got close to Zhou Meize, Ye Yu tended to lose her mind.
Seeing Ye Yu start to run towards their direction, Fang Zhile quickly stood up straight and walked over.
“Can I play basketball with you guys?” Fang Zhile asked.
The basketball players stopped. Fang Zhile had shoulder-length hair and an obedient appearance that immediately branded her a good student. The group looked at each other and smiled suggestively. “Sure, come play.”
Sun Yangyang, who was next to Zhou Meize, poked her sleeve and whispered, “Hey, another one?”
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Zhou Meize frowned, looking at Fang Zhile. The girl was skillfully dribbling the ball and running towards the hoop. “She looks like she knows how to play.”
Of course, Fang Zhile knew how to play basketball. In order to get Ye Yu to exercise, she had tried all kinds of sports. However, her basketball skills were only mediocre because Ye Yu didn’t like sports that left her sweaty and smelly.
“Pang—”
A beautiful three-pointer.
Everyone froze for a moment, then gave Fang Zhile a strange look.
This person didn’t seem to be here to flatter; she was here to crash the party.
“Want to play another round?” Fang Zhile held the ball, looking towards the group of people.
They looked at each other, their tones not pleasant. “No need. Give us the ball. Go play by yourself.”
Fang Zhile nodded, her eyes moving for a few seconds before pausing.
Through a gap in the crowd, she saw Ye Yu standing on the edge of the basketball court, looking at her.
Fang Zhile immediately flashed a brilliant smile, raised her hand, and tossed the ball. Watch this, Ye Yu, I’m getting revenge for you!
The basketball curved off-line in the air, hit the ground to the right of the group, and because of the strong bounce, rebounded again to the right, hitting Sun Yangyang squarely in the face as she was holding the bottle and gazing affectionately at Zhou Meize.
“Ah—”
Sun Yangyang was hit so hard that she fell backward, and the water from the open bottle spilled all over the ground.
“What are you doing!” The group froze for a moment, then quickly snapped back to attention.
Sun Yangyang supported herself with her hand. The water mixed with the dust from the basketball court, smearing a black mark on her hand.
She lay on the ground, dusty and bruised, unable to stand up for a long time.
Watching her, Zhou Meize, who had been about to step forward, paused, standing two steps away as she asked with concern, “Are you okay?”
Sun Yangyang had been lying on the ground for a while with no one helping her up. She finally stood up by herself and looked angrily at the perpetrator. “You hit me with the ball!”
Fang Zhile had watched the drama for a bit. Meeting Sun Yangyang’s eyes, she quickly shook her head and rattled off a stream of apologies. “So sorry, so sorry, so sorry! The ball slipped out of my hand. Who knew this ball had such good elasticity, bouncing up and hitting you again. I’m truly sorry.”
Her apology was quick, but it was obvious to anyone that Fang Zhile’s reaction had not been like this when she actually hit the girl.
“Do you think I’m blind?” Sun Yangyang was relentless. She was in too much pain from the fall. Moving her face aggravated the wound, making her features twist in a grimace. “You did that on purpose!”
Fang Zhile was quick to reply, “Oh, no, I didn’t.”
“The hell you didn’t!”
“Oh, no, I really didn’t.”
“Argh, I’m going to tear you apart!”
Sun Yangyang made a move to lunge forward.
Fang Zhile thought, Girl, you are not looking pretty like that.
Can’t you see your Sugar Daddy is looking at you with disgust?
Although Zhou Meize was disgusted, it was only a two-step retreat of disgust. She didn’t speak up for Sun Yangyang, nor did she stop her.
“Wait.”
Just then, Ye Yu, who had been observing, walked over.
She had just finished her slow run. Her lips were slightly pale, and she took a long, deep breath before speaking, her voice calm. “It’s P.E. class. Talk things out properly. Don’t fight.”
Ye Yu walked directly to Fang Zhile’s side. Fang Zhile was delighted and quickly darted behind Ye Yu, making it look as though Ye Yu was shielding her.
Ye Yu stood calmly and aloofly in front of everyone. Fang Zhile tugged at her sleeve, huddled behind her, acting as if these people were bullying her.
Zhou Meize’s expression became displeased. Before she could speak, Sun Yangyang was the first to object. If Ye Yu hadn’t intervened, Sun Yangyang would be in Fang Zhile’s face right now.
“Ye Yu, look closely, Fang Zhile hit me with the ball,” Sun Yangyang said. “She absolutely did it on purpose.”
Ye Yu raised an eyebrow, slightly turned her body, and glanced at the person playing the quivering quail behind her. She calmly asked, “Did you do it on purpose?”
Fang Zhile looked at her with wide, unblinking eyes. All her emotions were laid bare. “No.” I did it on purpose.
Ye Yu watched her for a few seconds, nodded slightly, then turned back to Sun Yangyang. “She didn’t do it on purpose. This is a misunderstanding, and it’s resolved now.”
Sun Yangyang was trembling with anger. “How can you say she didn’t just because she says so? The ball hit me right in the face!”
Fang Zhile poked half her head out from behind Ye Yu’s shoulder, blinking as she argued, “The ball bounced off the ground first. This is a basketball, not a billiard ball. How could I precisely control the direction of the bounce? I’m not a professional player.”
Ye Yu pondered for a few seconds, then readily agreed. “Her point is very valid.”
Sun Yangyang eyed the two of them for a moment, then suddenly pouted. “You’re all in this together, colluding with each other! Why should I believe anything you say?”
Since the conversation dragged Ye Yu into it, Fang Zhile became annoyed. Her voice muffled from behind Ye Yu. “Before you curse others, take a look at yourself. You’re covered in dirt, so filthy. If I were her, I wouldn’t have the face to stand here shouting. How embarrassing…”
Only then did Sun Yangyang look down at her appearance. She let out a small, low shriek, quickly covering her stained clothes. Tears were about to fall. “Sister Meize…”
Perhaps a person who feels wronged will always look first to the person they want to seek comfort from. Sun Yangyang’s gaze towards Zhou Meize was pitiful, conveying a sense of crying for help and seeking sympathy.
But Zhou Meize, who was being watched, was staring intently at Ye Yu, who had turned her head and was quietly talking to Fang Zhile.
Her eyebrows were slightly furrowed, her eyes showing a mix of scrutiny and vigilance. Her expression was intensely focused. Sun Yangyang had to call her several times before Zhou Meize looked over.
“Go clean up the dirt on your body first,” Zhou Meize said, her tone steady and comforting. She softened her voice, “I’ll handle things here.”
Sun Yangyang’s eyes welled up more. Her palm was scraped, and her body hurt from the fall. She wanted Zhou Meize to accompany her to the infirmary.
“Be good. Go clean up yourself, alright?” Zhou Meize glanced at her. Her smile remained unchanged, but her tone was firm and brooked no argument.
Sun Yangyang opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing. As she left, she shot a resentful look at Ye Yu.
