After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 11
“That person looks familiar.”
“She looks like CEO Jian?”
“Who is that across from her? She also looks familiar.”
“She looks like that actress who recently won the Best Actress award.”
“Ding Yue?”
“Yes, yes, that’s her.”
As soon as they sat down, Jiang Ting and Liu Dan started excitedly discussing their discovery.
From the moment Cen Luo entered Yunxiang Club, she saw Jian Mu and Ding Yue sitting with their backs to the door.
From the beginning, Cen Luo only looked at them for a few seconds when she first saw them, then she looked away.
By the time she and her colleagues sat down, they also discovered Jian Mu and Ding Yue not far away.
Everyone started chattering excitedly.
“Why would CEO Jian and Ding Yue come to Yunxiang Club?” Jiang Ting suddenly remembered a crucial question and asked it, puzzled.
“Don’t worry about the CEO’s business. There are plenty of news stories about her spending a lot of money just to have dinner with a celebrity. Isn’t it normal for rich people to have dinner with celebrities now? You’ve been in this industry for so long, haven’t you figured that out yet?”
The one who spoke was another male colleague named Yu Lin.
When Yu Lin said that, many colleagues agreed and nodded.
But it made Cen Luo uncomfortable.
Jian Mu wasn’t that kind of person. She had never spent money to have dinner with celebrities, nor did she have any interest in it.
“Don’t talk nonsense,” Cen Luo said with a slight hint of displeasure. The scene instantly fell silent.
The colleagues looked at each other, and they all saw the same information in each other’s eyes.
As they hesitated, a voice asked the question on everyone’s mind: “Team leader, someone said that your girlfriend is CEO Jian. Is that true?”
The one who spoke was Wu Dandan, a colleague who had recently passed her internship and become a full-time employee. She spoke in a halting manner, observing Cen Luo’s expression as she spoke, which showed how cautious she was.
As entertainment reporters, they had a stronger curiosity for gossip than the average person.
The colleagues all held their breath, waiting for Cen Luo’s answer.
Not only were they curious, but it could be said that everyone in the company who had heard this rumor was curious.
The club was filled with the melodious sound of a piano. In the center of the dance floor, a girl in a white dress was leaning against a piano, playing the violin with a look of concentration on her face.
Cen Luo saw Jian Mu lift the wine glass on the table and take a sip. Across from her, Ding Yue was propping her head up with her hand, tilting her head and smiling as she looked at her.
After a while, Cen Luo didn’t know what Jian Mu said, but Ding Yue covered her mouth and laughed.
Jian Mu was like a statue, sitting there without moving, completely unaware of the people behind her who were discussing her.
“Team leader?”
“Hmm?” Cen Luo came back to her senses and hummed in reply.
Cen Luo’s answer was too quiet, or maybe the beautiful piano music drowned out her response.
They couldn’t hear her tone and didn’t know if she was answering “yes” or was simply confused.
With a reporter’s sensitivity to questions, they knew that if they seized the opportunity, they could get the answer they wanted.
Wu Dandan thought so too.
But before she could ask again, she heard Jiang Ting try to smooth things over.
“Oh, of course not. Look at how gentle and lovely our team leader is. And look at CEO Jian. She’s not only cold, but she’s also a player. What kind of good person has dinner with a celebrity in a place like this?”
Although Jian Mu didn’t make many public appearances, there was a lot of news about her. The most common description of her was “aloof and quiet.”
So, even though Jiang Ting had never interacted with Jian Mu, in her mind, Jian Mu was a cold and distant person.
Cen Luo’s lips moved when she heard this, but in the end, she didn’t say anything. She just pursed her lips and lowered her eyes.
To others, not denying it was the same as admitting it.
In reality, Cen Luo just didn’t know how to answer at the moment.
Given the current situation, answering yes or no would only cause the problem to escalate.
“Why don’t you guys look at what we should play later?”
Cen Luo tried to change the subject, but it didn’t work.
The others pushed the responsibility back to her and said, “We’ll play whatever the team leader wants to play.”
They then started discussing Jian Mu again.
“But to be honest, I don’t think someone like CEO Jian would ever fall for anyone. I feel like she only loves herself,” Jiang Ting said after thinking for a moment, expressing her feelings.
“You’re right. She only loves herself. You all don’t know, do you?”
Wu Dandan suddenly spoke, and her words were filled with disdain for Jian Mu.
It seemed that after hearing Jiang Ting deny the rumor for Cen Luo, Wu Dandan’s attitude toward Jian Mu was no longer hidden.
“Don’t know what?”
In an instant, everyone’s eyes were on Wu Dandan.
Cen Luo, who had been trying to change the subject, also looked at her when she heard this.
She was a little puzzled. What did she know?
Wu Dandan cleared her throat, then looked at everyone mysteriously. Her eyes swept over everyone present, and then she said, “I went to the same school as Jian Mu in junior high.”
She no longer called her “CEO Jian” and just called her by her name, which showed that Wu Dandan definitely didn’t like Jian Mu.
“And then?”
Although they hated people who kept them in suspense, they held back their urge to make her spill the beans to satisfy their curiosity.
“Then, do you know that the Yunjing Group originally had two heirs?”
“What?”
Everyone expressed their disbelief in unison.
Cen Luo frowned when she heard this. She had a feeling that Wu Dandan’s next words wouldn’t be good news for Jian Mu.
“Why don’t one of you go ask Zhao Zhao? See when she’s coming?”
“Shhh, team leader, just make a call. We want to hear the secret.”
Cen Luo pursed her lips. She never liked to use her position to pressure others. She would seriously handle work-related matters during work hours and would never force others to do anything after work.
In a situation like this, she actually had a slight urge to tell them to stop talking about Jian Mu.
Or rather, when they asked if Jian Mu was her girlfriend, she should have just admitted it. Maybe they would stop discussing Jian Mu then.
But she was also afraid that her actions would make things difficult for Jian Mu. The number of reporters who were following Jian Mu was no less than that of a celebrity.
What’s more, everyone here was a reporter.
Everyone’s interest had been piqued by Wu Dandan’s words. No matter how much Cen Luo tried to change the subject, they were not moved.
“But the other heir drowned in junior high.”
As soon as Wu Dandan’s words left her mouth, she was met with everyone’s doubt:
“Is that for real?”
“Are you making up a story?”
Wu Dandan was a little unhappy that she was being doubted. She was immediately a little angry. “It’s true! And if you think this is a made-up story, what will you say if you find out that the younger sister was pushed into the water by Jian Mu?!”
Unlike the unanimous disbelief from before, the scene was silent for two seconds, and then everyone started to laugh sparsely. “How is that possible?”
How can a TV drama be brought to real life?
“Someone saw it with their own eyes! I heard it from her!”
As soon as Wu Dandan finished speaking, she was met with Cen Luo’s sharp question:
“Just because you ‘heard it from someone,’ do you have any evidence? Do you know that without evidence, you’re spreading rumors? Can you handle the consequences?”
The colleagues hadn’t expected Cen Luo to suddenly question her. Both her voice and tone were cold, something they had never heard before. They could even hear a hint of anger.
For a moment, everyone fell silent. They looked at each other, as if they were wondering about the truth of Wu Dandan’s words, and also about the reason for Cen Luo’s sudden anger.
Wu Dandan’s internship was guided by Cen Luo, so she was very familiar with Cen Luo’s principles as a reporter, which was to report facts and to hate falsehoods and baseless speculations.
Cen Luo had a strong dislike for reports that started with “it is said that,” “rumor has it,” and “someone said.”
Wu Dandan only thought that she had angered Cen Luo because of her lack of professionalism. Her face flushed with anxiety as she defended herself:
“It’s true. The surveillance cameras in that area were taken away by someone at the time. Yunjing had no choice but to protect their only heir.”
Wu Dandan seemed to be afraid that Cen Luo would interrupt her again and immediately said,
“And even if there were surveillance cameras, they couldn’t have done anything to Jian Mu. She’s sick in the head. The current wife of the Yunjing director isn’t Jian Mu’s birth mother.”
The colleagues saw Wu Dandan point to her own head.
“This is too fake.”
“I don’t believe it.”
“Wu Dandan.”
Wu Dandan was about to answer everyone’s questions when she heard Cen Luo’s almost cold call. She instinctively sat up straight and answered:
“Here.”
The scene was momentarily frozen.
“What are you guys doing? Are you getting ready for a group fight?”
A playful voice broke the silence.
Zhao Zhao took off her sunglasses and hat, and took off her mask. She walked to the spot next to Cen Luo and said to Jiang Ting, “Move aside.”
Although she had said she hated Zhao Zhao, Jiang Ting still moved away quickly.
As soon as she moved, she saw Liu Dan’s disdainful look, as if to say, You’re so spineless.
“Everything I said was true, team leader.” Wu Dandan seemed to feel wronged and still wanted to explain.
Wu Dandan just felt that since she was now a full-time employee, they were all colleagues who would see each other every day.
As a colleague, she had an obligation to let everyone see Jian Mu’s true colors.
“Stop talking.”
Cen Luo took a sip of her tea, letting her emotions calm down.
Zhao Zhao glanced at the two of them, then looked at the others present. “Can someone tell me what happened?”
The atmosphere was unpleasant. They all looked at each other, and no one spoke.
Wu Dandan’s story was too fantastical, and Cen Luo’s reaction was too intense. For a moment, no one knew what to do.
“My apologies. I was a little worked up just now. We’re all here to relax, so let’s not talk about topics that can cause trouble.”
After a while, Cen Luo smiled and said.
Although Wu Dandan still wanted to say that what she said was true, she saw that Cen Luo had taken the initiative to back down, so she stopped talking.
Zhao Zhao found it strange. Why did the atmosphere become so cold as soon as I arrived?
Just as everyone was getting ready to happily eat dinner, an uninvited guest arrived at the door—
The sound of high heels clacking, which was louder than the sound of the violin.
Guan Hui, who had said she wouldn’t come, appeared at the door and was walking toward them.
“Why is she here?”
“I don’t know.”
“Hello, team leader Cen,” Guan Hui said as she took off her sunglasses, tossed her long hair, and greeted Cen Luo in a friendly manner.
Something’s out of the ordinary, there must be a reason.
Sure enough, they heard Guan Hui’s slightly smug laugh. “Don’t be so narcissistic. I’m not here for your boring get-together. I just heard that our team leader’s rumored girlfriend is also here.”
Cen Luo was stunned for a second.
Not only Cen Luo, but everyone else present was also stunned.
Before she could even explain, Guan Hui walked toward where Jian Mu was sitting.
Yunxiang Club was very big. Jian Mu’s and Cen Luo’s seats were on the north and south sides of the club. If they hadn’t found each other beforehand, they wouldn’t have been able to hear each other’s voices from those two locations.
Zhao Zhao raised an eyebrow, and her tone was neither happy nor angry. “You have a girlfriend?”
Cen Luo glanced at her and hummed in reply.
“Oh my God, I’m so embarrassed for Guan Hui that I could dig a castle with my toes.”
“Girl, maybe you should be digging a castle for the team leader.”
“Bah, bah. CEO Jian probably doesn’t even know the team leader’s name. Guan Hui is the one who’s embarrassing herself.”
Cen Luo sighed quietly in her heart. Maybe they’re right. Maybe they should be digging a castle for her.
“Is that Ding Yue? I think I know her,” Zhao Zhao said, looking closely.
“Yes, that’s Ding Yue,” someone replied.
Ding Yue glanced at Cen Luo’s table and then said something to Jian Mu.
They all thought Jian Mu wouldn’t pay any attention to Guan Hui, but they hadn’t expected that after a while, both Jian Mu and Ding Yue would walk toward their table.
Guan Hui smiled smugly at everyone.
She wasn’t that stupid. She wouldn’t just rush over and ask if someone was someone’s girlfriend. Embarrassment was a small matter, but what if Jian Mu got angry and made her lose her job?
“I knew you looked familiar. It really is you, Zhao Zhao.”
Ding Yue held up her wine glass and smiled at Zhao Zhao.
“What a coincidence.”
“So Zhao Zhao is the ‘acquaintance’ you were talking about? How do you know I’m close to her?”
Ding Yue asked Guan Hui.
Guan Hui gave a mysterious smile.
Guan Hui had only told the two of them that there was someone over there who said they were an acquaintance of theirs and wanted to know if they would like to join them.
Jian Mu hadn’t expected to see Cen Luo here. And given the current situation, they were probably having a get-together.
As for why Guan Hui would suddenly come over and say such a thing to lure them over, Jian Mu didn’t know.
But Cen Luo didn’t seem to be happy.
She hadn’t looked at her the entire time. Was she angry about the text she had sent her earlier?
“Want to join us?” Ding Yue asked Zhao Zhao.
Zhao Zhao frowned. She looked familiar, but they weren’t close. Half of the people in the entertainment industry looked familiar to each other. Did that make them all close friends?
Besides, she wasn’t the host tonight.
Zhao Zhao then looked at Cen Luo for her opinion.
“Want to join us?” A slightly cold voice rang out in Cen Luo’s ear.
“Huh?” Cen Luo looked at the person who had suddenly spoken to her, puzzled.
Not just her, but everyone else present was also stunned.
Jian Mu didn’t think her question was anything to be surprised about. Cen Luo had texted her earlier today asking her to dinner, but she had to decline because she had plans.
Since they had run into each other now, there was no problem with them joining.
Thinking Cen Luo hadn’t heard her clearly, she asked again, “Want to join us?”
After a long time, they still couldn’t believe that the person who had just looked at Cen Luo and asked that question was Jian Mu.
