After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 12
The scene was silent for a few seconds.
Cen Luo came to her senses and curved her lips. “Sure.”
A waiter, hearing the commotion, came over with an extra chair.
But the waiter was at a loss as to where to put the chair and looked at Jian Mu.
Jian Mu slightly raised her chin and pointed to the space between Cen Luo and Zhao Zhao’s seats.
Everyone was too surprised to speak.
Even if they weren’t in a romantic relationship, their relationship must be pretty good.
Suddenly, everyone turned their eyes to Wu Dandan, who had just “exposed” Jian Mu.
She had a flushed face and was biting her lip, her eyes darting between Cen Luo and Jian Mu.
No one knew what she was thinking.
The waiter looked at Cen Luo, who nodded. “Just put it here.”
The waiter understood and prepared to place the chair between the two.
Before she could, a voice spoke up, sounding wronged. “Big sister, I was the one who sat next to you first. How can you let someone just casually squeeze in between us?”
The person who spoke was Zhao Zhao.
Cen Luo got goosebumps when she heard that voice. If it weren’t for their morning interaction and the phone bill top-up, she probably would have thought Zhao Zhao’s “big sister” was cute.
Now…
“Cute” had become a synonym for “devil.”
The waiter looked up and saw that it was the main actress of the drama she was currently obsessed with. She was suddenly excited but restrained herself due to her professionalism.
She remembered that Jian Mu’s gaze had seemed to be on Cen Luo, so she probably wanted to sit next to her.
The waiter then asked tentatively, “How about here?”
She then pointed to the seat on Cen Luo’s right side.
Jian Mu glanced at Zhao Zhao when she heard her words, and she was met with a slightly provocative look.
Jian Mu frowned slightly.
The waiter didn’t hear Jian Mu’s response and thought she was angry at her for making her own decision.
Just as the waiter was about to apologize, she heard Jian Mu’s confused voice. “Is she your younger sister?”
She was looking at Cen Luo when she said this.
Jian Mu didn’t follow entertainment news and didn’t recognize Zhao Zhao. When she heard her call Cen Luo “big sister,” she thought Zhao Zhao was one of Cen Luo’s sisters.
In her memory, Cen Luo didn’t like it when others called her “big sister.”
Jian Mu didn’t know the reason.
She just remembered hearing someone talk about it in high school.
“No,” Cen Luo replied. She then took the chair from the flustered waiter and placed it on her right side.
She then said, “She’s just a few years older, so it’s a convenient way to address me.”
“Come, have a seat,” Cen Luo said with a smile to Jian Mu.
Jian Mu pursed her lips and sat down on her right side.
By the time Jian Mu sat down, Ding Yue finally realized that Jian Mu had just taken the initiative to say several things.
It was a pity that she had been with Jian Mu for almost half an hour, and she was the one who did all the talking. Jian Mu would only occasionally hum in response.
She was also always zoning out.
This showed how bored Jian Mu was during the time she spent with her.
Ding Yue felt that she might have “money anxiety.” Why did she exchange a product endorsement fee worth tens of millions for a chance to have dinner with Jian Mu?
When she had made this request, she had already prepared herself for rejection.
After all, in the entire Yun City, how many people had had the chance to have dinner with Jian Mu?
She just hadn’t expected Jian Mu to agree.
“Put it next to CEO Jian.”
Before the waiter could ask again, Ding Yue voluntarily pointed to the seat on Jian Mu’s right.
Although she had just said she was close with Zhao Zhao, in reality, they had only seen each other a few times at a recent awards ceremony.
At most, they were just acquaintances.
And in terms of seniority, it wouldn’t be an exaggeration for Zhao Zhao to call her a senior. By saying that she was close with Zhao Zhao, she was giving her face.
Just as Ding Yue was about to sit down, she heard Zhao Zhao’s voice, a half-smile on her face. “We’re so close, why don’t you sit next to me?”
No one knew what Zhao Zhao was thinking or why she would suddenly say something like that.
But everyone had seen her attitude toward Ding Yue earlier.
It wasn’t cold or distant, but it definitely wasn’t enthusiastic.
It was clear they weren’t close enough to sit next to each other.
Everyone present, except for Jian Mu, had more or less been in contact with the entertainment industry. They weren’t very interested in meeting celebrities, but they were very interested in the strange relationships between them.
Everyone held their breath, their eyes glued to the two, waiting for a big news story to happen.
Maybe they would be the first to know that the two had a strained relationship in private.
But after a few seconds, nothing happened.
Ding Yue’s voice was full of confusion. “Huh?”
In her heart, she was wondering if Zhao Zhao really thought she was her friend, or if she was trying to curry favor with her.
What right did a rookie celebrity who got famous for her looks have?
Just as Ding Yue was thinking about how to politely decline her invitation, she saw Zhao Zhao say with a half-smile, “But it seems you prefer to sit next to her. Looks like you’re closer to her.”
The “her” she was referring to was Jian Mu.
Zhao Zhao, of course, knew Jian Mu. Whenever there was a rumor about “Jianyi Technology,” major news outlets would rush to report it. It would have been difficult for her not to know about it.
She didn’t call her by her name or “CEO Jian” like others did.
When Zhao Zhao said that, it made many people uncomfortable.
Jiang Ting first clicked her tongue, then covered her mouth with her hand and leaned into Liu Dan’s ear, whispering, “It seems Zhao Zhao is annoying no matter what. One sentence, and she offends two people. Not bad. Is she not planning on staying in the industry?”
Which celebrity in the entertainment industry wasn’t a master of social skills? The best outcome was to see something and not say anything about it.
Didn’t Zhao Zhao’s one sentence offend two people at once?
Liu Dan nodded in agreement. Even though everyone knew what was going on, it was still not right to point it out.
Even at this point, they didn’t believe Jian Mu was Cen Luo’s girlfriend. They were more inclined to believe that the two had a good relationship.
After all, Ding Yue’s words just now proved that Guan Hui hadn’t directly asked Jian Mu if she was Cen Luo’s girlfriend.
After hearing Zhao Zhao’s words, Cen Luo also felt a little uncomfortable.
Zhao Zhao’s words sounded a little sarcastic, as if she was mocking Ding Yue and also alluding to Jian Mu.
But that shouldn’t be the case. This was the first time Zhao Zhao and Jian Mu had met. She shouldn’t be targeting her like this.
And wouldn’t speaking like that offend people?
Not to mention Jian Mu, wouldn’t she be afraid of Ding Yue getting angry and making things difficult for her?
“We have a work-related relationship.”
After a while, Ding Yue explained with a smile.
After explaining, she also turned her head to look at Jian Mu’s expression.
There was no change.
Ding Yue was a little disappointed.
She had thought that maybe Jian Mu had agreed to have dinner with her because she had watched her works in private and liked her a little.
Even the coldness from before, Ding Yue took as Jian Mu’s personality or that she was feigning coldness.
Ding Yue also wanted to have a scandal with Jian Mu, but it seemed Jian Mu didn’t want to.
And she couldn’t afford to offend her.
Cen Luo saw that Ding Yue’s eyes were always on Jian Mu, and she saw a familiar feeling in them.
Many people had pursued Jian Mu over the years, from high school to college and now in their careers. Cen Luo had seen many rivals of all sizes and had seen many similar emotions in their eyes.
Then she remembered the text message from the morning.
Jian Mu canceled her plans with her to go on a date with another woman.
Although she knew they were just meeting for work, Cen Luo still wondered what kind of work required them to meet a celebrity in private.
When she thought of this, Cen Luo felt a little uncomfortable, and she also felt that she might be being petty.
“Have some tea.”
There was a small teapot on the table, and Cen Luo poured a cup of water for Jian Mu.
“Hmm.” Jian Mu took it.
You’re pouring for me. Our relationship is pretty good.
Zhao Zhao chuckled. “Is that so? I thought you liked her, sister Ding Yue—”
This statement shocked everyone, and they all looked at Zhao Zhao.
They didn’t understand why Zhao Zhao would ask such a question. It made her seem to have low emotional intelligence.
Cen Luo frowned even more. “Zhao Zhao.”
Zhao Zhao grinned at her. “It’s not illegal to like someone. I like you, too, big sister. What’s so hard about saying that?”
Cen Luo pursed her lips. She didn’t know what this little devil was thinking. She didn’t think she had the ability to make people fall in love with her at first sight.
And with her behavior today, Cen Luo really couldn’t see the “liking” that Zhao Zhao was talking about.
Ding Yue had originally wanted to deny it, but after hearing Zhao Zhao’s words, she suddenly changed her mind. “Someone as amazing as CEO Jian, who wouldn’t like her?”
Jiang Ting and Liu Dan looked at each other and had the same thought in their minds: This Ding Yue is really bold. Doesn’t she know we could write whatever we want about them?
Jian Mu looked at Zhao Zhao, and an unnoticeable emotion, whether it was confusion or something else, flickered in her eyes, too fast to catch.
Cen Luo knew that Jian Mu wouldn’t care about something like this, so she didn’t plan on explaining. She just quietly scolded Zhao Zhao and told her not to talk nonsense.
Just as the atmosphere was getting awkward and Jiang Ting was about to come out and change the subject, a round of applause suddenly broke out:
“Good, good! You’re all so brave!”
It was Guan Hui, who had been ignored for a long time.
Earlier, the waiter wanted to add three seats, but Jiang Ting had stopped her.
At noon, she had nicely asked Guan Hui several times if she wanted to join their get-together after work, but all she got was a roll of Guan Hui’s eyes. “Who wants to have a get-together with you people?”
If she didn’t want to join, then she didn’t have to.
But Jiang Ting hadn’t expected that Guan Hui had been standing behind them for all this time.
She had been listening to their conversation the entire time.
Jiang Ting: “There’s no seat for you. Why are you still here?”
Guan Hui ignored the provocation in Jiang Ting’s words. She turned to look at Jian Mu and asked with a smile:
“So, does that mean you don’t have a girlfriend, CEO Jian?”
When she said this, everyone knew that Guan Hui hadn’t given up and wanted to ask that question in front of both Cen Luo and Jian Mu.
The scene was silent for a moment. Cen Luo pursed her lips and said to the waiter next to her, “You can start serving the food.”
However, the waiter was also immersed in their conversation and didn’t react for a moment.
Cen Luo glanced in Guan Hui’s direction and said again, “Also, please add a seat for that person over there.”
The waiter finally came to her senses, said yes, and then left.
“Don’t change the subject,” Guan Hui said with a pout, then asked Jian Mu the same question again.
She was secretly thinking, Just you wait.
Jian Mu saw Cen Luo’s actions. Was she trying to change the subject? Did she not want others to know?
“If CEO Jian had a girlfriend, it would have been all over the news a long time ago,” Ding Yue said with a smile. “Right, CEO Jian?”
After a while, just as everyone thought Jian Mu wouldn’t answer, she suddenly hummed in affirmation.
The sound was not loud but audible.
With the person involved denying it, the rumors in the company fell apart.
Guan Hui smiled with satisfaction and even raised an eyebrow at Cen Luo in a provocative manner. “I thought some rumors were true.”
Jian Mu wasn’t interested in the rumors others were talking about and didn’t plan on asking more.
Guan Hui didn’t push her luck anymore and started beckoning the waiter to bring champagne to celebrate.
“…”
“This Guan Hui is too much. I’m so mad I want to hit someone.”
“Hold it in.”
Jiang Ting and Liu Dan were whispering to each other.
Cen Luo lowered her eyes and bit her lip slightly, then took a sip of the tea on the table.
Zhao Zhao glanced at her. As if by magic, she took out two candies from a pocket and placed them in front of Cen Luo.
“Here.”
Cen Luo didn’t really like sweets, but after spending so much time with Jian Mu, her taste had changed to match hers.
“Thank you.”
Zhao Zhao casually curved her lips. She met Jian Mu’s gaze and then raised her eyebrow.
She seemed to be complimenting Jian Mu’s actions.
The dinner went fairly smoothly. Jian Mu and Ding Yue left early because they had somewhere else to be.
Guan Hui got the answer she wanted but didn’t intentionally mock Cen Luo as everyone had expected.
On the contrary, the dinner was more peaceful than any other time.
But just as everyone was about to finish their meal, Guan Hui got drunk and started pointing at Cen Luo. “I don’t want to mock you, but look at you. Why are you deliberately spreading those things?”
“I can’t believe you’re such a vain person.”
“Jian Mu? Can Jian Mu possibly like you? You two are not from the same world… hiccup.”
Jiang Ting suddenly covered her mouth and said, “Team leader, don’t take it to heart. Guan Hui just talks without thinking.”
The others also nodded in agreement.
Cen Luo, who had already finished eating and was ready to leave at any time, opened a new bottle of wine. She mumbled to no one in particular, “You’re right.”
We’re not from the same world.
Cen Luo didn’t have a high tolerance for alcohol. She had already had two glasses that others had toasted her with. If she had another one, she would definitely be drunk.
Zhao Zhao saw this, took the wine bottle from her hand, and pulled her wrist.
“I’ll take you home.”
Cen Luo didn’t resist. She really wanted to go home right now.
When she went to pay, she found that Jian Mu had already paid the bill.
She had only had two glasses of wine, so she wasn’t drunk, but her head was still a little fuzzy.
After leaving Yunxiang Club, Cen Luo squatted against a tree for a while.
On the side of the road was Zhao Zhao’s car, a dazzling red.
Looking at Cen Luo squatting on the ground with her arms hugged and her head down, Zhao Zhao pursed her lips and finally asked the question she didn’t want to admit.
“Can’t you just not like her?”
“Ten years. How can I not?”
Cen Luo let out a sigh.
Liking Jian Mu had become a habit. From intentionally walking past her classroom in high school just to get a glimpse of her.
To filling out her college application with the same school as Jian Mu, joining the same clubs and activities, and finally staying in Yun City to be by her side.
For the past ten years, all of her efforts had been related to Jian Mu.
Not liking Jian Mu would be too sad for her.
Zhao Zhao was stunned by her words and then mumbled softly, “Ten years?”
Cen Luo didn’t reply.
“Then what if someone has liked you for even longer than ten years?”
“Would you like her?”
