After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 17
Cen Luo pursed her lips. Could she say that she didn’t do any research and didn’t know what was fun?
Could she say that she had nowhere to stay?
It was getting late. The plane had arrived at the ancient town at 7 p.m. It was almost 8 p.m. now. Cen Luo was a little afraid of taking a car to a hotel more than an hour away in the middle of the night.
“It’s just these few streets. Are you that bossy? You can look around, but I can’t?”
Cen Luo spoke with confidence. Anyway, she had said such things many times. As long as she had the momentum, she could make a baseless argument sound reasonable.
Jian Mu seemed speechless and then ignored her and continued walking.
It was obvious that Jian Mu had done her research. Every place they went to showed the unique characteristics of the ancient town.
Every food stall they stopped at was delicious, and every owner said their food was the most famous in Rong City.
But… there were a little too many “famous” dishes. After walking through a few streets, Cen Luo’s stomach and hands were full, and she even let out a burp.
In contrast, Jian Mu, who had stopped on her own accord, had empty hands and hadn’t bought anything.
If Jian Mu hadn’t been ignoring her, she would have suspected that Jian Mu was intentionally messing with her, making her “stuff herself to death” with all the snacks.
But on second thought, Jian Mu wasn’t that bored. Her own thoughts were a little too dark.
Jian Mu didn’t buy anything, and she didn’t touch a single bite of food. Cen Luo knew that Jian Mu didn’t really like to eat street food.
Cen Luo felt it was her duty to let Jian Mu know about the city’s delicious food.
So Cen Luo no longer followed Jian Mu. She hopped over to her side and put the hot skewers she had just bought into Jian Mu’s hand.
“Aren’t you hungry? Just take a bite. They’re really good.”
Jian Mu glanced at the skewers in Cen Luo’s hand. They were red, green, and yellow, and she couldn’t tell what was on the stick. There was only a little chili powder on the surface, and it looked a little oily and greasy.
Jian Mu wasn’t interested.
“Just one bite, just one bite! They’re really, really good.”
Although Cen Luo really wanted to finish all the food in her hands by herself, she simply couldn’t eat anymore.
Cen Luo blocked Jian Mu’s way, as if saying she wouldn’t let her pass if she didn’t eat.
Jian Mu lowered her eyes. After a long time, she took the skewers from Cen Luo and took a bite.
“How is it? Not bad, right?” Cen Luo stood in front of her with her hands behind her back. “You don’t have to be shy. If it’s good, you should say it. I won’t make fun of you.”
They were now standing on an ancient-looking street with many people walking by. A string of red lanterns hung above the street, and many antique items and ancient-style jewelry were on display on the side of the road.
Faint bell sounds came from the end of the street. From a distance, people were all gathered together, probably watching an acrobatics show.
After she tasted it, Jian Mu frowned slightly and then seemed to want to give the rest of the skewers back to Cen Luo.
But Cen Luo noticed and waved her hands repeatedly. “No, no. As a great student with good character and grades, you must not waste food.”
Jian Mu: “…”
“You’re not… asking me to help you finish it, are you?” Cen Luo looked at Jian Mu with a pained expression, as if saying, you’re not that kind of person, are you?
Jian Mu pursed her lips and then silently ate the rest of the skewers.
Afterward, Cen Luo followed Jian Mu to the end of the street where the acrobatics show was being performed. The scene felt like something out of a TV show.
“Jian Mu.”
Jian Mu had been watching the show. When she heard Cen Luo’s voice, she looked back at her and hummed in confusion.
“Can you… can you make a little room for me?”
When she saw that Jian Mu didn’t understand what she meant, Cen Luo let out a breath and said with courage, “I forgot to book a hotel. All the nearby accommodations are fully booked. The next closest place is an hour’s drive away.”
Jian Mu was silent for a while after hearing this and then said with a hint of speechlessness, “You’re unbelievable.”
“I really didn’t do it on purpose. Is it okay?” Cen Luo thought about it. Would Jian Mu think I’m intentionally trying to get close to her like this?
Although… although she was indeed pursuing Jian Mu, she hadn’t wanted to use this method.
But would Jian Mu misunderstand?
Jian Mu moved her lips, and Cen Luo, as if she had already expected to be rejected, suddenly spoke up to stop her from saying what she was about to say:
“Never mind. I’ll just look for a nearby internet cafe. One night will pass by quickly. If all else fails, I can just sleep on a bridge. I saw one on the way here. It’s only a ten-minute walk from here. Don’t worry about me. I can handle it.”
Cen Luo’s words were more of a way to comfort herself and also to pretend to be pitiful.
It was more like she was saying the opposite: Hurry and worry about me. I really can’t handle it.
Jian Mu: “…”
“Why not go to the other nearby hotels?” After a long time, Jian Mu asked.
“Haven’t you been watching the news lately? In the middle of the night, I’m afraid of running into bad people.”
Jian Mu scoffed at this. “You didn’t think about these things before you left?”
“I was in too much of a hurry! It’s all your fault for leaving in such a hurry. How could I…” Cen Luo paused. Her words were basically an admission that she had come here to follow Jian Mu.
Under Jian Mu’s gaze, Cen Luo paused and then made up for it. “Before, I had Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan. I didn’t have to worry about these things.”
“No, you can’t,” Jian Mu suddenly said after hearing her words.
This was clearly a response to her previous question.
Cen Luo: “…”
Okay, then no.
After leaving the ancient street, Cen Luo thought about it and decided to go to the hotel that was an hour away.
“Then I’ll get going.”
“But where are you going tomorrow? Can I tag along?”
The only answer Cen Luo got was Jian Mu’s long silence.
Knowing she wouldn’t get an answer from Jian Mu, Cen Luo turned and went to the luggage storage area, then walked toward the street.
At this time, there were no buses or coaches running. To get to the hotel, she would have to take a taxi.
Cen Luo sat at the bus stop for a while and then checked the time.
She finally decided to go to a nearby internet cafe to check.
Cen Luo had already called and asked. The nearest hotel would have a room available tomorrow. She had also paid the deposit and booked the room directly.
Just as she stood up from the bus stop, she saw Jian Mu standing behind her. She didn’t know how long she had been standing there.
“Did you come to see me off?”
Cen Luo was a little surprised. When she came to the bus stop, she had personally seen Jian Mu go in the opposite direction on another street.
She hadn’t expected her to suddenly appear here.
Jian Mu looked at her quietly, as if she hadn’t thought about how to reply or was thinking about something.
After a while, just when Cen Luo thought Jian Mu wouldn’t answer, she heard Jian Mu’s flat voice. “There’s only a sofa you can sleep on.”
“Huh?” Cen Luo blinked, not immediately understanding what Jian Mu was saying.
She then understood and happily ran to Jian Mu’s side and asked again, “Really? You mean I can stay the night?”
Jian Mu hummed in response and emphasized again, “Just the sofa.”
“No problem!”
Cen Luo excitedly followed behind Jian Mu. She knew that Jian Mu was just cold on the outside, but she was actually very kind on the inside.
She must have been worried about her, which was why she agreed to let her stay in her room.
Jian Mu walked very fast, and Cen Luo, with her suitcase, had a hard time keeping up.
“Jian Mu! Can you help me with my suitcase?”
Jian Mu ignored her.
“Or can you just walk a little slower!”
Jian Mu still didn’t pay any attention to her.
Jian Mu’s quality of life had always been good. The hotel she booked this time was a five-star hotel in Rong City Ancient Town.
But it was a single deluxe suite.
When she entered the hotel, Cen Luo realized how big Jian Mu’s room was.
The sofa was in the living room. The living room and bedroom were right next to each other, and the bathroom was not in the bedroom; it was in the living room.
Cen Luo watched as Jian Mu carefully checked every corner of the room.
“What are you doing?”
“Checking.”
Cen Luo somewhat understood. She was worried that someone had installed cameras or other things in the room.
Cen Luo took a closer look at the room. It felt a little too luxurious. The hotels she used to book with Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan were never this luxurious.
She secretly vowed to book rooms according to this standard next time and enjoy a little luxury.
The sofa was a high-end leather sofa that was comfortable to sit on, but it was a little too firm to sleep on.
After she finished washing up, Cen Luo lay on the sofa for a long time but couldn’t fall asleep.
The bedroom door was closed.
Cen Luo lay on the sofa, staring at the ceiling, feeling wide awake.
After a while, Cen Luo heard the sound of the door opening. She saw Jian Mu go directly into the bathroom.
Ten minutes later, she returned to the room.
A while later, Jian Mu came out of the room again and went to the bathroom.
After this happened several times, Cen Luo confirmed one thing—
Jian Mu had diarrhea.
And according to Cen Luo’s guess, after thinking about what she had eaten that night, besides the airplane meal, Jian Mu had only eaten the skewers she had given her.
The moment she realized this, Cen Luo: “…”
When Jian Mu came out of the bathroom for the fourth time, Cen Luo, hugging a pillow from the sofa, stood outside the bathroom door and asked with a look of conflict, “Did you get diarrhea because of my skewers?”
Jian Mu glanced at her and said in a cold tone, “What else?”
Cen Luo: “…”
“I’m sorry. I didn’t know it would be this bad.”
Jian Mu didn’t feel like talking now. She turned on the living room light.
Instantly, the living room became bright.
Jian Mu sat on the other sofa that Cen Luo hadn’t slept on. When Cen Luo saw this, she quickly poured a glass of hot water for Jian Mu.
“Drink more hot water, drink more hot water.”
Jian Mu’s hand paused for a moment, but she still took the hot water that Cen Luo poured for her.
Cen Luo felt a little relieved after seeing her drink the water. She felt both guilty and awkward.
“I’m sorry, Jian Mu. I shouldn’t have forced you to eat those skewers.”
Jian Mu didn’t want to reply and just took another sip of hot water.
Then she heard Cen Luo’s voice, full of regret. “You got a raw deal.”
Jian Mu thought Cen Luo was talking about her physical health, so she didn’t pay attention. After all, she knew her own body.
The water she had just drunk hadn’t even gone down yet when she heard Cen Luo’s words again. “Since you were going to have diarrhea anyway, you might as well have eaten more and gotten it all out at once. Using happiness to cover up the pain is a better deal.”
Jian Mu felt like she couldn’t swallow the hot water in her mouth. For a long time, she was speechless.
“Cen Luo.”
“Here!”
When she heard Jian Mu call her name in a serious tone, Cen Luo subconsciously responded honestly.
But after that, Jian Mu didn’t say anything else. After a moment of silence, she went straight back to her room.
Cen Luo had thought the matter was over.
She was thinking of taking Jian Mu to have fun tomorrow to make it up to her.
Just as she was thinking, the bedroom door opened again.
Jian Mu came out of the room with a pillow and a blanket and placed them on the other sofa. She said to Cen Luo:
“You sleep in the room.”
“Why?”
“I’ll sleep on the sofa.”
“There are two sofas. We can each have one.”
Jian Mu: “…”
“You’re too loud.”
Now it was Cen Luo’s turn to be speechless. She muttered to herself, “You’ve never slept with me. How do you know I’m loud?”
Am I loud? Am I?
Jian Mu: “…”
“Then you can go.”
“Okay, okay, I’ll go to the room to sleep,” Cen Luo sighed. When you’re under someone else’s roof, you have to bow your head.
Cen Luo looked back and guessed the reason why Jian Mu was sleeping on the sofa.
It’s probably because it’s closer to the bathroom?
But Jian Mu had taken her in. To her, Jian Mu was a good person.
