After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 23
“And why do you look so bad?”
“Is there something sad you haven’t told me about recently?”
In the VIP ward, Cen Luo asked Qin Ran a series of questions right after she woke up.
Even though her head was wrapped in heavy bandages, her face was full of concern for Qin Ran.
For the past week, Qin Ran hadn’t gotten much sleep. The thought of her best friend lying in a hospital bed, not knowing when she would wake up, made her lose her appetite and sleep. She had no energy to do anything.
It would be strange if her face looked good.
Yesterday, Zhao Zhao saw Cen Luo’s finger move. After she told the doctor, the doctor examined her and said that Cen Luo might wake up in the next two days and told them not to leave her side.
But in reality, ever since Cen Luo had her surgery and was moved to the ward, she had never been alone.
Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan took care of Cen Luo day and night, and Zhao Zhao stayed in Cen Luo’s room, not leaving for a second, as if to atone for her sins.
Qin Ran, who was originally sad and angry at Zhao Zhao, gradually calmed down.
What right did she have to blame Zhao Zhao? She was the one who created the opportunity for Zhao Zhao in the first place.
If she had to blame anyone, she should blame herself.
Besides, according to the people who were there at the time, Cen Luo had the accident while trying to save a little girl.
Just by hearing the description, Qin Ran knew that Cen Luo wouldn’t blame anyone.
Although Cen Luo rarely brought it up to them, Qin Ran knew that not being able to save Cen Xi, or rather, the fact that Cen Xi died because of her, was an eternal pain in Cen Luo’s heart.
When Cen Luo graduated from junior high school, Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan went to Mian City High School. It was evening, and they were sitting on the steps of the campus, watching the teachers and students come and go.
The parents of the first-year students were lining up with their children to register. At that time, Qin Ran heard Cen Luo’s faint voice: “Cen Xi should also be in the first year of junior high school.”
She and Xu Fengwan were silent for a while, not knowing how to comfort her, but the next second, Cen Luo acted as if nothing had happened and started to talk and laugh again.
For a period of time after Cen Xi’s death, Cen Luo seemed like a different person. She was no longer as well-behaved and sensible as she used to be.
Later, after Cen Luo returned to Mian City, citing her grandmother’s poor health, she slowly got better.
Qin Ran saw that Cen Luo was speaking so smoothly, and the big rock in her heart instantly fell. She knelt down by her bed, her eyes couldn’t help but turn red, and her voice was a little nasal:
“You’re finally awake. Do you know how long you’ve been asleep? A whole week. I was so scared…”
Qin Ran didn’t dare to say what she was so afraid of. She just sniffled and buried her head in the bedding.
Cen Luo was stunned for a moment. She wanted to raise her hand to pat Qin Ran’s shoulder to tell her not to be sad, but she found that her right arm was weak and she couldn’t lift it.
It was just a scrape. It shouldn’t be this bad, right?
“Xiao Luo, how do you feel? Is there anywhere else that hurts?”
“Doctor, doctor, hurry up and check on our Xiao Luo.”
Cen Luo heard the voices and saw that her mom and dad had come to her other side. Her dad was supporting her mom. There were some gray hairs on his temples that were easy to notice. He looked much older.
Suddenly, Cen Luo felt a pang of sadness, but because there was still a knot in her heart, Cen Luo slightly turned her head away and ignored them.
Cen Luo’s parents were both stunned.
“Please make way first.”
The lead doctor checked Cen Luo’s condition and asked her if there was anything else that was bothering her.
Only then did Cen Luo realize that she really did have more than just a scrape. She frowned. “My head hurts a little. I feel weak all over, and my legs hurt too.”
The doctor nodded and said to the people who were looking after Cen Luo:
“If you feel any discomfort, call me anytime. We’ll take her for another CT scan later. It looks like she’s okay for now. She can be discharged after a period of good rest.”
After getting a positive response from the people around her, the doctor was about to leave the ward with the nurse.
At this moment, they heard Cen Luo’s confused voice. “I was hit by a bicycle, right? Why is it so serious?”
Cen Luo’s last memory was that she was hit by a bicycle, had a scratch on her leg, and was sitting on the ground.
She didn’t remember anything after that, and she didn’t understand why Qin Ran would say that she had been asleep for a week.
“What bicycle? You were hit by a Porsche.” Qin Ran also didn’t understand why Cen Luo kept talking about a bicycle. But when she thought of that Porsche, she got angry and couldn’t help but say another sentence. “That damned Porsche also dared to hit you.”
Seeing that Cen Luo was awake, Qin Ran’s mood was also a little better.
“Hmm?” Cen Luo was a little confused. What Porsche? Didn’t they go to the park?
The doctor’s footsteps stopped. He realized that he might have overlooked a very serious problem. He turned around and looked at Cen Luo, asking her, “Can you remember what happened before the accident?”
“I just came back from Mian City. I made plans with them to go to the arcade.”
As Cen Luo spoke, she glanced at Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan next to her. The two of them looked at each other. There was only one thing in their eyes: What is she talking about?
Cen Luo’s parents also looked at the doctor.
The doctor suddenly had a guess. After all, not all amnesia can be judged by medicine. When he checked her head before, he only found a slight concussion. He couldn’t rule out temporary amnesia, so he continued to ask:
“What else can you remember?”
Cen Luo felt that this doctor asked a lot of questions. Her head was also a little dizzy. If he was so curious, why didn’t he ask Qin Ran and Xu Fengwan next to her?
But thinking that this was a hospital and the doctor wouldn’t be this idle, she patiently replied:
“I’m going to register at Yun City High School tomorrow. I can see some pretty older sisters.”
••••
As soon as Cen Luo finished speaking, the scene was dead silent.
Registering at Yun City High School was something that happened ten years ago.
Qin Ran let out a sigh of relief and cautiously asked Cen Luo, “Xiao Luo, how old are you now?”
Cen Luo looked at her strangely, a little confused. “Have you forgotten my birthday? I’m sixteen.”
••••
“Xiao Luo…”
“Family members, please come out. There’s something you might need to know.”
After a few seconds, the doctor’s words broke the silence.
Then Cen Luo’s mom looked at Cen Luo, who was lying in the hospital bed with a blank expression, and her eyes instantly turned red.
Cen Luo’s dad helped her out of the ward.
“I’ll go see what’s going on. You take good care of Xiao Luo.” Qin Ran said to Xu Fengwan, then hesitated for a moment. “You can do it, right?”
“What do you take me for, a useless person?” Xu Fengwan was a little displeased and sat on the stool next to Cen Luo’s bed.
“I’m afraid you’ll betray my trust.” After Qin Ran said this, she walked toward the door.
When she got to the door, she saw Zhao Zhao, who had been standing there without saying a word, and she stopped.
She pursed her lips and said in a very quiet voice, “I wasn’t talking about you. Don’t take it to heart.”
Zhao Zhao pursed her lips, glanced at Cen Luo in the ward, and hummed in response.
“Xiao Luo is awake. You should go in and see her.”
Qin Ran had seen Zhao Zhao’s guilt in the past few days, especially when she brought Cen Luo to the hospital and kept saying sorry.
At first, she had vented her anger on Zhao Zhao, but she figured that Zhao Zhao wasn’t having an easy time either.
After saying this, Qin Ran left and walked in the direction the doctor had left in.
At this moment, Cen Luo was a little sleepy and tired. Even though she had only been talking for a little while, she was already exhausted.
From their reactions just now, Cen Luo also guessed that something might have happened to her.
Cen Luo fell into deep thought, and Xu Fengwan had also noticed the abnormality in Cen Luo’s words just now. She was a little conflicted about how to tell Cen Luo.
After a while, Cen Luo looked up and suddenly saw a very beautiful girl with her lips pursed, looking at her from the doorway.
Cen Luo had already noticed Zhao Zhao standing at the door and looking at her from a distance.
Her eyes were a little conflicted and guilty. She looked very sad.
Sad? How could she let a pretty older sister be sad?
Cen Luo quietly asked Xu Fengwan, “Who is the person at the door? She’s so pretty. Is she here to see me?”
Xu Fengwan was stunned. She looked toward the door and saw Zhao Zhao standing there.
Xu Fengwan was silent for a few seconds. She had seen Zhao Zhao’s actions these past few days. She thought about it and then recounted the whole story. “A few days ago, on your birthday, we asked her to drive you home. Then you got out of the car halfway and got into a car accident on the way to the mall while saving a child.”
Cen Luo was completely confused. She had no memory of anything Xu Fengwan said.
“She’s very guilty and keeps saying that she’s the one who hurt you. She’s been watching over you for the past few days. Now that you’re awake, she might be scared to face you.”
Although Xu Fengwan liked Cen Luo and could be considered a rival to Zhao Zhao, she had always been very open and aboveboard and wouldn’t play tricks behind her back.
Besides, she and Cen Luo had grown up together. More than being together, she hoped that Cen Luo would be happy. That happiness was much more important than having Cen Luo herself.
After Zhao Zhao brought Cen Luo to the hospital, no matter how others asked, Zhao Zhao only said that she was the one who had hurt Cen Luo. Later, based on the statements of other people who were there and the surveillance footage, they found out the real reason for Cen Luo’s accident.
After Xu Fengwan said this, Cen Luo just twitched her lips. “How can it be her fault? I got out of the car halfway. It must have been my idea to get out of the car. It’s not like she kicked me out of the car halfway, right? I must have wanted to go to the mall. But I didn’t expect myself to be so brave and even save someone.”
Cen Luo only felt that she must have forgotten a part of her memory and answered Xu Fengwan’s questions based on her guesses.
“You don’t blame her?” Xu Fengwan asked again.
“Why would I blame her? If I have to blame anyone, shouldn’t it be you guys for not driving me home?” Cen Luo said with a playful pout.
Before Xu Fengwan could answer, she heard Cen Luo’s next words:
“Besides, how can a pretty older sister be wrong? How can I let a pretty older sister feel guilty?”
Upon hearing Cen Luo’s words, Xu Fengwan frowned and asked her, “Am I not pretty?”
Is she feeling guilty because I’m not pretty?
“You’re a childhood friend. You’re different from a pretty older sister,” Cen Luo said nonchalantly.
Xu Fengwan’s eyes dimmed a lot. After a while, she asked, “Do you want me to tell her to come in?”
“Sure,” Cen Luo said. Then she thought that she was lying in bed and couldn’t move easily, and she couldn’t see what she looked like now. She asked, “Do I look ugly right now?”
Xu Fengwan was speechless and replied, “You’re hideously ugly.”
Then she got up from the stool, walked to the door, and called out to Zhao Zhao.
When Cen Luo was looking at her just now, Zhao Zhao had left the ward.
After hearing what Xu Fengwan said, Zhao Zhao entered the ward.
Cen Luo’s eyes fell on Zhao Zhao. She couldn’t help but sigh, she’s so pretty. She couldn’t believe she had such a pretty older sister around her.
Did she and her have a story?
It’s a shame she can’t remember. She’s so sad.
Zhao Zhao opened her mouth several times, wanting to say something, but she didn’t.
Seeing this, Cen Luo comforted her. “Xu Fengwan just told me everything. It wasn’t your fault to begin with. It was an unexpected disaster for you. I’m the one who should feel guilty.”
“Thank you for taking care of me these past few days.”
The first step to winning the heart of a pretty older sister is to take the blame and show gratitude. Perfect.
Not only was Zhao Zhao surprised, but Xu Fengwan was also shocked.
Xu Fengwan hadn’t seen this side of Cen Luo in a long time.
Thinking back to what Cen Luo said to Qin Ran and her current actions, she would completely believe that a sixteen-year-old Cen Luo would do this.
Zhao Zhao looked up at her when she heard this. Her beautiful eyes were filled with guilt. She should have gone with Cen Luo back then, despite her refusal.
If she had stayed with Cen Luo, she might have been able to save her or stop her from going to the mall.
But at that time, she was so shocked by Cen Luo’s “friend-zoning” that she froze in the car for a while.
Thinking about it, she had a chance to prevent the accident from happening.
“I’m sorry, big sister. It’s all my fault. I should have gone to the mall with you.”
Zhao Zhao suddenly apologized.
However, Cen Luo frowned slightly and looked at Zhao Zhao with a strange expression. She said:
“You’re calling me big sister? You’re actually calling me big sister? Even though you look younger, you must be around twenty years old, right?”
“And you’re calling a sixteen-year-old girl ‘big sister’?”
She actually called her big sister?
Cen Luo was crying on the inside.
This older sister is pretty, but she’s calling her big sister. She’s no longer in love.
