After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 29
It was already the middle of the night when Jian Mu got home.
When she parked her car, she saw the photo album on the passenger seat.
Earlier at the repair shop, Jian Mu had only opened the first page.
She looked up at the dark night sky. The familiar apartment was right in front of her, but there wasn’t a single light on inside.
Jian Mu stopped her movement to get out of the car and glanced at the photo album.
She slowly opened the album. Her fingertips paused on the handwritten letter, then she continued to flip through the pages.
The second photo was of sixteen-year-old Cen Luo and Jian Mu. Cen Luo was standing outside the classroom of class two, and she was sitting by the window doing her homework.
Because she felt the light was blocked, she looked out the window. Then she heard a very small click sound. Cen Luo bared her teeth and waved the camera in her hand at her.
That was the second day they met.
Ever since Cen Luo suddenly sat next to her and introduced herself, Cen Luo had suddenly barged into her plain, uneventful life.
Page after page, Jian Mu continued to flip through the album.
She originally thought this would be a completely unfamiliar album to her. However, as she flipped through it, Jian Mu realized that she could recall the time and place of every single photo.
There wasn’t a single solo photo of Cen Luo in the album. This album was as if it was a collection of Cen Luo’s memories, all returned to Jian Mu.
By the time she finished looking at the last page, half an hour had already passed.
Jian Mu was silent for a long time, looking at the album back and forth several times.
She suddenly remembered what happened at the hospital.
After Cen Luo said those words, Jian Mu couldn’t find anything to say to refute her.
At that moment, Qin Ran suddenly appeared and said she wanted to talk to her.
After a few hours of calming down and observing Cen Luo’s attitude, Qin Ran’s attitude toward Jian Mu had become much more peaceful.
Jian Mu followed Qin Ran to an empty rest area. Qin Ran got straight to the point, telling her that she hoped she would fulfill the promise she made to Cen Luo.
Jian Mu knew that Qin Ran was talking about the time she wished for Cen Luo’s wish to come true.
“She doesn’t remember you now. To her, you’re a stranger. Look, she’s very happy without you now. If you’re going to disrupt her possibly peaceful life because you’re unwilling to let go, you’re being too selfish.”
Unwilling to let go?
Every word of Qin Ran’s was like a strike to Jian Mu’s heart.
As if she understood Jian Mu’s hesitation, Qin Ran questioned her: “Do you love Xiao Luo? You can’t even lie to yourself. A person who was so cold just a few days ago is now suddenly so affectionate. I’ve seen this trick before. When you graduated from college, this is how you shattered Xiao Luo’s original plans, gave her hope, and then trapped her by your side.”
As early as when Jian Mu appeared in the ward, Qin Ran had already been outside, listening to Jian Mu and Cen Luo’s conversation.
Not only could Jian Mu not come up with an answer to Cen Luo’s words, but she also couldn’t answer Qin Ran’s questions.
Love? Don’t love?
Love?
Is it unwillingness to let go?
No.
After a long time, Jian Mu finally asked Qin Ran a question. What was Cen Luo’s ideal type at this age?
Qin Ran rarely saw this expression on Jian Mu’s face. It was as if she was expecting something.
“On her sixteenth birthday, Xiao Luo made a wish that she could find a gentle and pretty older sister,” Qin Ran paused and glanced at the pursed lips of Jian Mu. Her lips were a little pale. “When she saw your new student representative speech, she told us not to mess with someone like you. You’re too cold, not suitable to be a friend.”
“Later, Xiao Luo said that she thought you were too pitiful to be alone, so she decided to keep you company.”
Qin Ran’s words were half-true, half-false. In short, she had made her point clear.
Every word from Qin Ran was a heavy blow to Jian Mu’s heart.
For ten years, Cen Luo had told her countless times that she was her perfect partner.
It wasn’t until Cen Luo had amnesia and she saw the unfamiliarity and disgust in Cen Luo’s eyes that Jian Mu finally realized the truth. Without her memories, Cen Luo’s attitude toward her was even worse than a stranger’s.
After a while, Jian Mu’s memory came back. She looked at the photo album in her hand and slowly closed it.
Is it unwillingness to let go?
Jian Mu asked herself.
The air in the car was filled with a faint woody perfume scent. She remembered that this was a weekend gift Cen Luo gave her not long ago.
Cen Luo was very fond of rituals. On holidays or other slightly special days, Cen Luo would always prepare gifts for her.
The lucky cat in front of the passenger window was placed there by Cen Luo. The paper stars inside the car window were put there by Cen Luo. Even the songs on the car’s music playlist were prepared by Cen Luo.
It was strange. Things she had never paid attention to before suddenly flooded her mind at this moment.
A vibration from her phone suddenly interrupted Jian Mu’s thoughts. She looked at her phone. It was a promotional message.
She scrolled up and saw an unsaved message from an unfamiliar number.
She clicked on it. It was an appointment reminder.
【CEO Jian, don’t forget your psychological counseling at 10 AM tomorrow.】
Jian Mu stared at the message for a long time, then she replied with a few words. When she exited the interface, she saw Cen Luo’s message box.
Jian Mu clicked on it. She had never seriously read the messages before. At this moment, Jian Mu chose to open them again and feel her joys and sorrows.
As someone who often sent her appointment reminders, Zuo Mo was already used to Jian Mu not replying to messages.
She couldn’t force someone like Jian Mu to reply with “received.”
But Zuo Mo didn’t expect a message sent at 3 PM to be replied to at 1 AM.
Zuo Mo even exited the interface twice, thinking she had read the message wrong.
【Cancel it.】
Cancel?
Is something wrong? A temporary cancellation or a permanent one?
She had been so proactive during this period.
“Sis, I’m hungry. I want to eat a late-night snack. Do you want to eat anything?” Zuo Rong came out of her room. She saw Zuo Mo sitting on the sofa in a daze. She walked behind her and, while asking the question, accidentally glanced at Zuo Mo’s phone screen.
Zuo Rong sat down next to Zuo Mo and asked Zuo Mo, “Sis, is CEO Jian, Jian Mu?”
Zuo Mo put her phone away and hummed in agreement.
“I wanted to ask last time. Why was she at our hospital?”
Zuo Mo glanced at Zuo Rong’s phone screen and said, “Order some barbecue. I’m hungry too.”
Realizing that Zuo Mo clearly didn’t want to answer her question, Zuo Rong pouted. “Sis, next time CEO Jian comes, can you call me?”
This made Zuo Mo alert. She asked, “You like her?”
Zuo Rong let out a dry laugh. “How is that possible? I just think that CEO Jian is quite suitable for a one-night stand.”
When Zuo Mo heard that, she instinctively hit Zuo Rong on the head. “What are you thinking about all day? Don’t mess with her.”
She wasn’t the only one who thought that.
Although she thought so in her heart, seeing that Zuo Mo’s expression wasn’t a joke, she didn’t argue back and just let out a long “oh.”
She wasn’t stupid. She could tell that Jian Mu wasn’t easy to mess with. The last time she saw Jian Mu, she only had two wishes: a one-night stand and to see her go crazy.
For now, she didn’t have any other thoughts.
Neither of these wishes had come true yet.
Zuo Mo didn’t know what Zuo Rong was thinking, but she remembered that her sister had always been full of clever ideas since she was a child, so she gave her a few more reminders.
Then she returned to her room.
Zuo Mo remembered what Jian Mu looked like when she saw her at the door of her office.
She asked her, “What should I do if I’m constantly affected by some past events?”
Before that, Zuo Mo had only seen Jian Mu a few times from a distance. Once was when she went to the press conference of Jianyi Technology for a friend, and another time was when she was having a meal with a girl at Yunxiang Club.
However, halfway through the meal, Jian Mu left, leaving the other girl to silently finish her dinner.
Zuo Mo originally thought that Jian Mu wasn’t as cold as the rumors said. At least her attitude when she spoke to her didn’t seem to be like the rumors.
However, when she asked Jian Mu what exactly happened, Jian Mu said she couldn’t remember.
So Zuo Mo suggested she undergo a deep hypnosis session.
Jian Mu, who had just finished the deep hypnosis session, was like a different person. She was silent for a long time. After she woke up, she only mumbled a few words that Zuo Mo couldn’t understand.
“A person like you…”
Zuo Mo couldn’t hear the rest of the words. She only knew that Jian Mu’s expression was not good at the time.
Even though she repeatedly pressed her, Jian Mu was unwilling to tell her what she remembered during the hypnosis.
After that, Jian Mu left.
As a psychologist, Zuo Mo was also a qualified promoter. To put it more elegantly, she was a professional psychologist.
Sensing that Jian Mu had this problem, Zuo Mo spared no effort to invite Jian Mu to cooperate with the treatment.
After her repeated “attacks” with messages, Jian Mu asked her if she could help her with something.
Zuo Mo agreed.
Later, Zuo Mo found out that the girl she saw having a meal with Jian Mu was Jian Mu’s girlfriend.
The favor Jian Mu wanted was to force the other party to break up.
Zuo Mo thought Jian Mu was crazy.
After a period of time, Zuo Mo didn’t bother Jian Mu anymore, but later, considering “a doctor’s heart,” Zuo Mo tried to contact Jian Mu again.
For a while after that, Jian Mu was surprisingly cooperative.
Zuo Mo didn’t know the reason for Jian Mu’s cooperation. She also didn’t know the reason for Jian Mu canceling her appointment at this moment.
But what Zuo Mo did know was that perhaps Jian Mu had tried to resist something and had now given up.
Zuo Mo sighed. It wasn’t easy to be in her line of work. She always ran into all sorts of strange people and things.
In the next few days, when people walked past Cen Luo’s ward, they would see the same person standing still outside the ward like she was being punished, standing there all day long.
Every day, a flower basket or a fruit basket was sent into the ward. The people who came in and out of the ward didn’t talk to her, and she didn’t talk to others.
The flower baskets and fruit baskets that were sent in would be thrown into the trash can outside the ward within a few minutes.
The person who usually did this was Zhao Zhao. She would throw the things Jian Mu sent into the trash can right in front of her.
“Is she just doing this for herself? Or is it atonement?”
On the third day, Cen Luo could already eat. She was biting into an apple and looking out the ward door.
To be honest, Cen Luo saw Jian Mu’s actions, but it didn’t move her at all.
She wasn’t a person who would feel sorry for those who had hurt her. Although Cen Luo couldn’t remember what exactly Jian Mu did, one day, she accidentally clicked on a social media app and found a draft.
—Don’t like Jian Mu.
The question the draft answered was what she would say to herself ten years ago.
She wasn’t a person who liked to regret her decisions, but to be able to write something like that was enough to show how disappointed Jian Mu had made her.
And, until now, Cen Luo didn’t understand why she would like a person like Jian Mu.
Qin Ran’s answer to her was that it was because of her excessive sympathy.
Since she couldn’t find a reason, Cen Luo took Qin Ran’s words as the correct answer.
The people who were with her today were Xu Fengwan and Yinyin.
After listening to Cen Luo’s words, Xu Fengwan glanced out the door and asked Cen Luo, “You’re not going to go soft, are you?”
Cen Luo was confused. “Go soft on what? I just think it’s stupid.”
“I’m going to look for Sister Xu. Who’s coming with me?” Cen Luo’s eyes darted between the two of them.
“Which Sister Xu?” Xu Fengwan asked in confusion.
Coincidentally, when Xu Yanyan came up to see Cen Luo, neither Xu Fengwan nor Qin Ran were around.
“If you don’t know, then forget it. Yinyin, you come with me.” Cen Luo moved her body, then slowly got out of bed and moved to the wheelchair.
Cen Luo’s body no longer needed a wheelchair, but she was lazy. Walking was too tiring. It was more comfortable to be in a wheelchair.
“Oh, okay.”
Because she was busy with school, Yinyin hadn’t been to the hospital for two days. She obediently stood next to Cen Luo.
Xu Fengwan also followed Cen Luo out of the ward.
Jian Mu was still standing outside the door. She hadn’t found a place to sit and was just like she was being punished in elementary school.
When she passed Jian Mu, Cen Luo didn’t even glance at her. She was eagerly looking forward to seeing Xu Yanyan.
But when Yinyin passed Jian Mu, she felt she looked familiar and looked at her a few times. Jian Mu also looked back at her.
This scared Yinyin, who quickly lowered her head.
While waiting for the elevator, Yinyin looked at Jian Mu, who was not far behind them. She bit her lip and whispered to Cen Luo, “Big sister, is that person your friend? She looks so pitiful. She’s been standing outside the door for almost the whole afternoon.”
It wasn’t just the afternoon. It had been a few days, and it was as if she was here to be punished in front of her. When she left the ward, she would follow her. When she didn’t leave the ward, Jian Mu would just stand outside the door.
“Don’t know her,” Cen Luo replied nonchalantly. It had nothing to do with her. Let her be as stupid as she wanted.
