After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 4
Jian Mu didn’t notice Cen Luo and Qin Ran, who were in the same cafe and watching them.
The two found a table and sat down.
“I hope my sister didn’t bother you yesterday?” Zuo Mo said. “I didn’t even know she was in my office yesterday. She told me she ran into you, or I wouldn’t have known.”
“Let’s get down to business.” Jian Mu didn’t care about running into Zuo Rong yesterday. She didn’t want to waste her time on it.
Zuo Mo was about to speak when she heard a slightly sarcastic voice from nearby. “Tsk, who do we have here? It’s Jian Mu.”
It was Qin Ran who spoke. She was unhappy that the two of them were ignoring them and just chatting.
So she had dragged Cen Luo over.
Jian Mu looked up, first at Qin Ran, then at the person behind her. Her gaze settled on Cen Luo.
She seemed confused as to why Cen Luo was here.
Jian Mu didn’t reply to Qin Ran and continued to stare at Cen Luo.
“What are you staring at her for? Shouldn’t you be explaining who this woman is right now?”
It wasn’t the first time Qin Ran had found Jian Mu to be strange, with a way of thinking completely different from everyone else’s.
“I’m Jian Mu’s friend, my name is Zuo Mo,” Zuo Mo said, knowing Jian Mu wouldn’t introduce her. Her gaze then settled on Cen Luo. “You must be Jian Mu’s girlfriend. You’re very beautiful.”
“Thank you.”
Cen Luo graciously accepted the compliment, but her words also raised some questions in her mind.
Had Jian Mu mentioned her to her?
Why?
Cen Luo knew Jian Mu wasn’t someone who liked to show her relationship life to others.
Because of this, there was no sign of Cen Luo in Jian Mu’s social media.
Of course, Cen Luo respected Jian Mu. She wouldn’t do anything Jian Mu didn’t want.
So she had never posted anything on social media either and had never mentioned to anyone she wasn’t close with that Jian Mu was her girlfriend.
They had gotten together after college, and only a handful of their college friends knew about it.
They also had very few photos together. Most of them were taken secretly or in candid moments by Cen Luo.
From sixteen to twenty-six, every stage of Jian Mu and Cen Luo’s lives was hidden away in her phone and an old camera.
A long time ago, Cen Luo used to be a person who shared her life, but after meeting Jian Mu, she had changed a lot.
In her eyes, a quiet, long-term companionship was a kind of long-lasting confession.
Jian Mu just frowned slightly at Zuo Mo’s words but didn’t refute them.
Qin Ran was stunned. Does this Jian Mu not have a mouth? Can she not talk?
Most importantly, Cen Luo fell for it and even replied with a “thank you” to her?
What is Cen Luo thinking?
“Hey, Jian Mu, aren’t you going to explain why you’re at a cafe with another woman on the weekend, leaving your girlfriend behind?”
Qin Ran said this loudly, causing the people nearby to look over at them.
The soft music couldn’t stop the brewing war between the few of them.
“Have you eaten?”
This was what Jian Mu said to Cen Luo.
Cen Luo was stunned for a moment, then shook her head. “No.”
“Let’s go eat?” Jian Mu asked.
Cen Luo was about to nod instinctively but then remembered Qin Ran, who was standing up for her, and looked at her.
Her eyes and expression made it clear that she really wanted to go.
Qin Ran pouted, but going to eat together seemed like an acceptable idea.
Anyway, Jian Mu had to come clean today.
She was Cen Luo’s friend, so she didn’t feel it was right to question the perfume incident from yesterday, but now it was different.
This was a case of “caught in the act.”
Jian Mu rarely said, “Let’s go eat together,” but from the current situation, it seemed Jian Mu just wanted to change the subject.
The few of them went to a barbecue restaurant.
Qin Ran had wanted to get hot pot, but Jian Mu didn’t take her suggestion.
Cen Luo suddenly remembered the message she had sent yesterday, mentioning that the barbecue restaurant they used to go to had changed owners and asking if she wanted to go.
Maybe Jian Mu saw her message and chose a barbecue restaurant?
The food was a little on the sweet side and not very spicy, which was what Jian Mu liked.
However, Qin Ran wasn’t used to it. With no waiters around, she dropped her chopsticks.
“When you invite people out to eat, do you only care about your own taste?”
“How can I eat something this sweet? I want something spicy, a super spicy hot pot.”
Qin Ran had originally planned to take Cen Luo to a hot pot restaurant for lunch, but because of Jian Mu, those plans were now on hold.
Even though she had come voluntarily, Qin Ran couldn’t help but feel a little wronged.
“Luo Luo, don’t you want to eat a super spicy hot pot?” Qin Ran suddenly looked at Cen Luo.
Jian Mu also looked at Cen Luo because of what she said.
Cen Luo was slightly stunned for a few seconds, then pursed her lips. “I really do.”
But just as Qin Ran was about to respond, Cen Luo added, “Let’s go eat it tonight.”
Jian Mu was momentarily stunned by Cen Luo’s answer, a rare occurrence for her.
She remembered in high school, Cen Luo would often show up at the restaurants she was eating at and pretend it was a coincidence to get close to her. “What a coincidence, we have the same taste.”
A long time ago, Cen Luo loved spicy food. But because Jian Mu couldn’t eat spicy food, she had changed her tastes.
With Qin Ran suddenly bringing it up, Cen Luo couldn’t help but think back on it.
She really missed that taste.
At first, she had changed her taste for Jian Mu. But later, she stopped eating spicy food because her stomach had gotten used to it. Now, if she ate anything too spicy, she would get diarrhea, lasting from a day or two to a full two weeks.
“But eating spicy food gives me diarrhea, so I can only watch you eat it,” Cen Luo suddenly explained.
Qin Ran pouted. Of course, she knew Cen Luo was actually explaining it to Jian Mu.
Cen Luo was just that kind of person. Whether it was for friendship or love, she treasured every little kindness she received, but she never mentioned the kindness she showed others.
She just didn’t want Jian Mu to know.
Qin Ran sighed quietly, thinking Cen Luo was silly and that Jian Mu was too heartless.
Sure enough, after hearing Cen Luo’s words, Jian Mu was no longer confused.
Soon, the ingredients were brought out by the waiter.
An employee came over to help them with the grilling, but Cen Luo politely refused.
“I’ll do it.”
Jian Mu was very particular about grilled food. If it was too well-done or too raw, it would bother her, not just mentally but physically.
To make sure she was comfortable eating, Cen Luo had practiced grilling for a long time. In fact, during a company team-building event at a barbecue restaurant, Cen Luo had even volunteered to grill for everyone.
Of course, she just wanted their feedback.
She had gotten the hang of it through all the practice.
Zuo Mo, who had been silent, was watching Cen Luo the entire time.
Cen Luo seemed to notice and looked at her. Zuo Mo quickly looked away and smiled at Jian Mu. “I told you so, this restaurant’s barbecue is delicious.”
Everyone stopped what they were doing because of Zuo Mo’s words.
Qin Ran even spat out the side dish she was eating.
“?”
Cen Luo just paused slightly, then continued to grill as if nothing had happened.
Cen Luo and Jian Mu were sitting next to each other. To prevent Zuo Mo from sitting in front of Jian Mu, Qin Ran had intentionally sat across from Jian Mu.
Zuo Mo had been observing Cen Luo’s reaction. Seeing that she was unfazed, she let out another gasp. “Oh, by the way, I found a bracelet in my office this morning. It must be yours, right?”
Clatter.
The scissors Cen Luo was about to use to cut the meat suddenly fell, and a look of pure shock was written on Qin Ran’s face.
Zuo Mo, however, acted as if she hadn’t noticed and continued to murmur, “Besides you, no one else came to my office last night.”
Cen Luo suddenly remembered the familiar scent on Zuo Mo.
It was the same perfume she had smelled on Jian Mu last night.
The fact that the scent had transferred to her clothes meant they had been together for quite a while.
