After She Fell for Me, I Lost My Memory (GL) - Chapter 6
Cen Luo didn’t go to Qin Ran’s house as she had told Jian Mu in her message. Instead, she went to the bus stop alone and waited for the 824 bus.
For two yuan an hour, she could see a good part of Yun City.
There weren’t many people on the bus. Cen Luo sat in the window seat on the right side of the second-to-last row.
When she was in school, Cen Luo would ride the 824 bus from its starting point back to its starting point whenever she was in a bad mood. Her mood would always improve after a tour of Yun City.
Sometimes it’s just like that; you need to let things out.
Some things were her own choice, and she had to bear the consequences.
Oh, Cen Luo, why are you like this?
Perhaps the music in her headphones was too sad, making her emotions even more fragile.
When Cen Luo switched off the sad song, a push notification for a trending topic suddenly popped up on her screen.
— If you could go back ten years, what would you say to your past self?
Normally, Cen Luo had no interest in these meaningless hypotheticals, but today, she clicked on the topic as if guided by a ghost.
The most-liked comment was the timeless “study hard.”
Comments like “buy a house early” and “buy Bitcoin” were also at the top.
Further down, the comments became confessions about love—
“Don’t have a puppy love. Don’t date when you should be studying.”
“Don’t like xxx. I chased her for three years, but it was useless. Her heart is made of stone.”
Normally, Cen Luo would think these comments were overly sentimental, but at this moment, she felt a little wistful.
If she could go back ten years, what should she say to her past self?
[Don’t fall for Jian Mu.]
Just as she typed these words into the comment box, Cen Luo sighed and returned to the previous page.
The unsent comment was automatically saved to her drafts.
A while later, Cen Luo edited a new comment and posted it in the comments section.
Then she closed the page.
By the time she returned to the starting point, an hour had passed.
Two years ago, Cen Luo bought a small apartment in West Yun City. However, she only came back occasionally; she spent most of her time at the place where Jian Mu lived now.
After getting off the bus, Cen Luo took a taxi directly back to her small apartment.
Downstairs from her apartment building was a repair shop. Broken watches, clocks, cameras, and other items could be taken there to be fixed.
In this fast-paced society, most people just throw away broken items and buy new ones.
For a long time, business at the repair shop wasn’t good.
To make a living, the shop later expanded its services to include photo printing and other things.
When Cen Luo arrived at the repair shop, there was a long line of people waiting to get their ID photos taken.
The first person to see Cen Luo was Uncle Zhao, who was in charge of the repair business.
“Xiao Luo, is your camera broken again?”
Cen Luo nodded, her expression a little helpless. It had been less than three months since it was last fixed, and it was broken again.
“Xiao Luo, take my advice. Buy a new camera. The money you spend on a few more repairs could buy you a new one,” Uncle Zhao said, a little helplessly.
It was an “old relic” from more than a decade ago. The manufacturer had stopped making this model a long time ago, and many of the parts had been phased out.
It was difficult to fix the camera completely. All he could do was try to extend its “life.”
“I’ll bring the camera down in a bit. How long will the repairs take this time?”
“You’ll have to bring it down and let me take a look first.”
“Okay, I’ll go get it now.”
After saying this, Cen Luo walked toward her apartment, only to run into Auntie Li, who was moving out next door.
Even though she didn’t come back here often, every time she did, Auntie Li would enthusiastically give her some of the local specialties she had brought back from her hometown.
Sometimes, she would even invite her over for dinner.
Auntie Li, who was directing the movers, suddenly saw a figure standing not far away, looking at her.
Auntie Li squinted her eyes and saw that the person standing there was Cen Luo. A smile instantly broke out on her face, and she walked toward her.
“Xiao Luo, you’re finally back! I thought I wouldn’t get to see you before I moved.”
Auntie Li’s eyes were crinkled in a smile, and her expression was even more affectionate as she looked at Cen Luo.
She had accidentally fallen in the hallway, and it was all thanks to Cen Luo that she was saved. Not only that, but Cen Luo also helped her out all night at the hospital.
This girl is too kind.
“Auntie Li, where are you moving to?”
When she didn’t come back often, she didn’t realize how sad it was to not see people. But when she returned to her familiar apartment and saw the people around her moving, she felt a wave of sadness.
Maybe I’ll never see her again.
“I’m going to live with my daughter. I thought about it, and my body isn’t as good as it used to be. I might as well listen to her and live with her.”
Auntie Li only had one daughter who had married and moved to another province. The last time Auntie Li fell, her daughter couldn’t get back in time and had to ask Cen Luo for help.
Since then, Auntie Li’s daughter had been urging her to come live with her.
She had also added Cen Luo on WeChat and would initially check up on Auntie Li’s well-being through Cen Luo. But later, when she found out Cen Luo didn’t live at the apartment much, she stopped asking about Auntie Li.
She only sent a greeting during holidays.
Auntie Li told Cen Luo that she had already given the house to a real estate agent and that a new tenant would probably move in soon. But she told her not to worry too much. When she sold the house, she would check the person’s character and try to sell it to a single woman.
Cen Luo knew Auntie Li was thinking of her. After all, there were only four households on the floor, and her and Auntie Li’s apartments were the closest.
If the new neighbor was unfriendly, it would indeed be a hassle for her.
After chatting with Auntie Li for a while, she said her goodbyes. When she got back to her room, she walked past Auntie Li’s apartment. The door was open, and the interior was completely empty.
Everything had been moved out.
Cen Luo suddenly felt a little melancholic. After all, she had known her for two years, and she didn’t know if they would ever see each other again.
She returned to her own apartment. It was clean and tidy, with nothing particularly special about the decor.
Cen Luo found her old camera, wrapped in layers of cloth, inside a cabinet in her room. There were too many scratches, and the paint had chipped off in many places, making it look dirty.
It was as if it was a constant reminder of its impending end.
This old camera held a lot of meaning for her. It was a birthday gift from her grandmother when she was eight.
Later, it held all of her memories with Jian Mu.
Cen Luo held the old camera and was about to open the door when she saw several bottles of chili sauce on the floor. It was the same chili sauce she had praised while eating at Auntie Li’s house.
There were also two bottles of honey sauce in the middle.
She remembered telling Auntie Li that she had a sensitive stomach, and Auntie Li had specially reminded her to drink more honey water.
In that moment, Cen Luo’s emotions broke down.
But by the time she got downstairs, Auntie Li was already gone.
Cen Luo took a deep breath and took the camera to the repair shop.
Uncle Zhao held the old camera and looked it over for a while. “It should take at least a month.”
Cen Luo nodded. A month from now would be around her birthday. It was perfect.
“Can you also print the photos inside for me? Can you put them in an album in order? I’ll come pick it up later.”
Cen Luo said this to another person, since photo printing wasn’t Uncle Zhao’s job.
“Yes, but you’ll have to pay a small deposit first. Even though we’re old friends, we have to follow the rules.”
“Okay.”
Cen Luo paid the deposit and returned to her apartment.
When she got back to her room, she heard a song playing from her headphones that the music app had automatically recommended.
Unconsciously, Cen Luo shared it on her social media.
