After the Cannon Fodder A Accidentally Marked the Paranoid Female Lead - Chapter 3
“Is there an inhibitor in the room, or should I go buy one?”
Ming Si’an couldn’t just stand by and watch a person lose control, even if that person wasn’t He Yiling.
The pheromones in the room were growing more intense. She felt as if she was in a vast mountain forest covered in snow, a tranquil landscape where everything was still. The pine trees stood tall and firm in the cold, their sweet, resinous scent tempting her to get closer.
She longed to take a deep breath; the feeling would surely be intoxicatingly sweet.
Ming Si’an fought to control the thoughts taking over her mind, clenching her fists. She couldn’t comprehend this feeling of her body losing control.
Especially the back of her neck, which was starting to feel hot and swollen, as if it was being scorched.
She held her breath, shook her head hard, and growled, “Speak!”
He Yiling calmly picked up her expensive bag. Her tone was placid and didn’t sound like someone in estrus, but Ming Si’an didn’t notice.
“It’s inside.”
Ming Si’an immediately opened the bag and found a delicate, long wooden box with a hollowed-out surface. It was the only item in the bag that looked like it contained an inhibitor. She quickly opened the box, and a blast of cold air cleared her head. Inside, a syringe filled with the inhibitor lay still.
She handed the needle to He Yiling, not noticing the other woman’s thoughtful expression.
“Where do I inject it?”
He Yiling took off her blazer, revealing a red camisole dress underneath. Her fair, smooth skin came into view. Ming Si’an’s pupils trembled. Something had just pierced her heart, causing a tingling sensation.
Without her blazer, He Yiling looked frail. The dress’s straps outlined her elegant shoulders and neck.
The humid air, caused by the pheromones, made He Yiling seem even more delicate. Despite this, she still radiated an untouchable, “trespassers will die” aura.
He Yiling was silent for a moment. Even someone who couldn’t afford an inhibitor knew how to inject one.
“Have you had a vaccine?”
Her cool, detached voice calmed the heat in Ming Si’an’s glands for a moment. She didn’t say anything else. She took a cotton ball and wiped He Yiling’s arm before steadying herself and calmly injecting the syringe into her muscle.
He Yiling didn’t even flinch. Her eyes watched the needle as Ming Si’an pushed the plunger.
Even though it was her first time using an inhibitor, Ming Si’an tried to be gentle. She didn’t push too quickly, and it took a full five seconds for the inhibitor to be fully injected.
The cold, soft sensation lingered on her fingertips. Even though He Yiling’s skin had turned pink, that simple touch was enough to send a tingling feeling from her fingertips throughout her entire body. The back of her neck throbbed with even more pain.
The desire was intensifying, and her consciousness was slowly slipping away. She felt as if something was devouring her.
Get closer to her? Ming Si’an’s eyes fell on the fair neck in front of her. She wanted to get closer to the source of her loss of control.
The rampant heat, the uncontrollable urge, and… the desire to mark her.
“Ming Si’an, look into my eyes!”
The cold voice startled her. Ming Si’an snapped her head up. He Yiling’s eyes were filled with an endless coldness, like a vast, desolate snowfield. Anyone who dared to cause trouble would be banished there to die without freedom.
Ming Si’an scrambled to her feet. She hadn’t even realized she was kneeling in front of He Yiling like a devoted pet dog. Damn it, He Yiling’s tone was exactly like someone training a dog.
She ran to the door and left, slamming it shut behind her.
“Idiot.” He Yiling cursed under her breath.
After Ming Si’an left, the Beta woman in the suit entered the room. “Miss, she released her pheromones.”
That’s right. The air in the room was filled with not only He Yiling’s pheromones but also Ming Si’an’s.
It was like a cherry rum, sweet yet slightly bitter, rich and sophisticated, with an alluring and dangerous quality.
In He Yiling’s mind, a glass of rum appeared. A cherry slipped into the icy rum, creating a unique and captivating allure, both charming and restrained. Drinking it would be sweet and slightly dizzying, with a warming sensation from the alcohol.
Did Ming Si’an release her pheromones on purpose to seduce her, or was it a mere accident?
Even with the inhibitor, He Yiling’s heart was still pounding, and her glands still felt hot and swollen. Her blood was pumping faster, and her rising body temperature turned her skin from pale to pink.
The discomfort in her glands made her feel slightly irritable. “Ice water.”
The Beta woman in the suit quickly brought her a glass of ice water and increased the ventilation in the room, making the air fresh again in a short time.
She then cleaned up the empty inhibitor syringe on the sofa. “Miss, you’re not in estrus yet. Do you need to wash off the inhibitor?”
He Yiling calmed down after drinking the ice water. “It’s fine.”
She hadn’t expected Ming Si’an not to know that inhibitors should be injected into the glands. Injecting it into the arm helped a little, but not much.
“A-Li, tell the company that Ming Si’an will be returning to work tomorrow.”
A-Li looked surprised. “What if she doesn’t?”
She didn’t know why Miss would release her pheromones while alone with Ming Si’an. It was a dangerous thing to do. If it caused the Alpha to lose control and go wild with her own pheromones, it could cause the Omega to lose control as well.
There was a law that stated that any Alpha who released pheromones in a public place or in front of an Omega they weren’t intimate with was not only immoral but also subject to a warning. If it caused chaos or negative consequences, the Alpha could be detained and fined, or even face life imprisonment.
However, since Miss He had released her pheromones first, Ming Si’an’s loss of control was excusable.
But if Ming Si’an had tried to do something and then pretended to be enticed, the consequences would have been enough to shake Hong Kong. A-Li had been with the He family for years and was all too familiar with the dirty underbelly of the upper class and the lengths people would go to get into it.
“A-Li,” He Yiling said. “I hope this is the last time you question me.”
She wouldn’t do anything without a plan. Releasing her pheromones was also part of her plan. What she couldn’t predict was what Ming Si’an would do.
Would she take the opportunity to pounce, or would she run away?
In the first case, she would have no hesitation in crippling Ming Si’an. The second case would be nothing special. But Ming Si’an chose to control herself and only left after injecting her with the inhibitor.
She was an interesting fool, too kind for her own good.
She was curious what Ming Si’an’s reaction would be when she found out that inhibitors were injected into the glands.
Ming Si’an stumbled out of the private room and onto the dance floor. She pulled Cheng Cheng aside. “I have to go. Something’s come up.”
She said this without waiting for Cheng Cheng to react and ran out of the bar.
“Hey? Wait for me, Ming Si’an! I’ll go with you.”
Outside the bar, Cheng Cheng finally caught up to her. “What’s wrong? The Royal said all our expenses tonight are free. What’s the rush?”
Then she noticed that Ming Si’an’s face was flushed. “Are your pheromones out of control?”
She quickly took a new inhibitor patch out of her bag and handed it to Ming Si’an to put on.
A cool sensation spread from her glands throughout her body, as if a bucket of cold water had been thrown on her. She immediately cleared up.
“What happened?” Cheng Cheng asked, curious.
Alphas and Omegas had to wear inhibitor patches when they went out and had to replace them on time, or they would lose their effectiveness. On average, one patch a day was needed.
Ming Si’an shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
She couldn’t tell her that she was affected by He Yiling’s pheromones. Every time she thought of that name, all she could see was that tall, slender figure, her long swan neck, and her captivating pheromones. She was a truly bad woman.
Her first impression of He Yiling was that she was arrogant and alluring…
Cheng Cheng was about to speak when she saw a familiar figure lying on the ground. “That trash.”
Huh? Ming Si’an followed her gaze and saw the oily Alpha lying on the ground like a corpse. He had been drinking a lot in the bar, but he shouldn’t have been this out of it.
“Curious what happened?” Cheng Cheng nudged her shoulder.
She nodded obediently. After what she had been through, she could barely find the energy to speak.
“Didn’t you see that the bar set up a ‘Tidal Wave’ drink challenge? It’s like an endless wave of drinks. You can challenge it as a group or as an individual. The highest individual record is 101 cups, and anyone who breaks the record wins a million dollars. They put it out today to apologize to the customers who were startled. The drinks are free, and you don’t have to drink all of them, but the guy who caused all this trouble has to keep drinking until he can’t drink anymore.”
The Royal Bar’s philosophy was to protect every customer who came to have fun, whether they were rich or powerful. The rules of the bar had to be followed.
Cheng Cheng whispered, “This bar isn’t as simple as it looks. The He family also has a stake in it. Basically, no one dares to cause trouble at The Royal. This trash is a warning to others, and it also lets them know that a drunk person can’t harass an Omega.”
Just like the oily Alpha lying on the side of the road. When a person is truly drunk, it’s hard to even move a finger.
Ming Si’an looked back at the bar. A bar that could protect the vulnerable. No wonder her roommate wanted to work there.
“So, the interview is tomorrow?”
Cheng Cheng shrugged. “Yeah. Hong Kong’s cost of living is too high; I can’t just rely on my family. But why did you leave He Yiling’s law firm? You’re giving up your job at her firm just to work part-time at a bar with me? Even as an assistant to an assistant, the Anling Law Firm pays more than a bar!”
“Besides, we’re law students. Getting into a He-affiliated law firm in your second year means you’ll definitely get to stay in Hong Kong after you graduate. Then you can find a way to save up for grad school and get your PCLL. I just don’t get you.”
In her opinion, Ming Si’an must have lost her mind to have quit her job.
Thinking of He Yiling’s threat, Ming Si’an sighed. “I’m going back to work tomorrow.”
Cheng Cheng: “? Did He Yiling keep you back to try and get you to stay?”
Probably not, but she also didn’t understand why He Yiling would want her to stay at the firm.
Cheng Cheng huffed, “Oh, my god. We’re both law students in Hong Kong, but our treatment is so different! Is this what it’s like to be a top student?”
“Kolmeng Inhibitors, protecting your special periods.”
As her roommate complained about their unfair fate, an ad on a bus stop caught Ming Si’an’s attention. She watched the spokesperson inject the inhibitor into her gland.
?
He Yiling lied to her! That dog!
She now strongly suspected that He Yiling had staged a scene just to get her to come back to work.
What on earth does He Yiling want?

Ming Si’an: I told you He Yiling is a bad woman.
He Yiling: Only a fool would be fooled.
