After The Cannon Fodder Died, She Became The Female Lead’s White Moonlight (GL) - Chapter 11
Che Gulai tried to struggle free, but Shen Sijin, who usually looked weak and frail, was surprisingly strong now. She suspected her bones were about to be crushed by Shen Sijin’s embrace.
Since childhood, Che Gulai had never been this intimate with anyone. She was naturally cold and didn’t like physical contact.
She quickly reached her limit and forcefully pushed Shen Sijin away. Both of them stumbled.
Shen Sijin hadn’t recovered her wits and stared at her blankly. With her pale face and moist, clear large eyes, she looked exactly like a little kitten that had suffered great injustice. A few strands of damp short hair clung to her cheek, making her face look even more delicate and small.
Che Gulai, however, was as aloof as ever. Her tone was calm, carrying an almost imperceptible hint of disgust.
“Are you crazy? Who allowed you to touch me?”
“I was scared,” Shen Sijin didn’t detect the disgust in her tone. She only pouted innocently, explaining in a low voice.
Her voice was soft like damp marshmallow, low and gentle, with no aggressiveness—only an innocent kindness.
Her submissive, downcast look gave her the distinct air of a fragile, innocent white flower, the epitome of pure goodness, a vulnerable bloom that easily evokes pity.
Unfortunately, Che Gulai was no ordinary person. She had a heart of stone and wouldn’t care whether the other person was a flower or a leaf.
She frowned, her tone thin and cold. “What does your fear have to do with me? Do I have an obligation to protect you?”
Shen Sijin opened her mouth. “I wasn’t…”
“—meaning that.”
Before she could finish the rest of her sentence, Che Gulai interrupted her. “Don’t try to get close to me. If you touch me again—”
She spoke clearly, one word at a time, utterly cold, “—I will break those hands one day.”
Shen Sijin shivered and tightly pursed her lips.
“Did you hear me?”
“Yes,” Shen Sijin answered obediently.
She was so compliant that Che Gulai felt uneasy. This was simply not her style.
Che Gulai walked past her and entered the bathroom, slamming the door shut with a loud sound.
Shen Sijin shivered again.
“Why is she so mean?” Shen Sijin muttered softly.
Her heart was quite resilient. She wasn’t very angry. Instead, she was happy because Che Gulai’s arrival had caused those terrifying things to disappear.
In the dead of night, Shen Sijin had a nightmare as usual, and the constant ringing in her ears kept her awake in discomfort. She sat up from the bed, covering her chest and slowly breathing.
She felt like someone was watching her in the room again.
There was a pair of deep, dark eyes staring at her from the shadows.
Cold as ice, sharp and toxic like a snake’s eyes.
Shen Sijin began to feel afraid again. Her limbs were stiff, and she dared not move.
The wind outside made the leaves rustle, shaking and making a sound like a woman’s scream.
Cold sweat streamed down her body, her back felt chilled. An intense, bone-deep sense of suffocation gripped her heart, and nausea rose in her throat.
Shen Sijin’s defenses collapsed. She couldn’t stand the room. Without even putting on her shoes, she rushed to Che Gulai’s room.
“Che Gulai, can I come in?” She spoke quickly and frantically. The door lock was broken, and she pushed the door open without thinking.
Che Gulai had just been falling asleep. Seeing her enter the room fully, she was speechless and wondered what the point of her question was.
She watched Shen Sijin quietly, wanting to see what kind of fit she was having in the middle of the night.
Shen Sijin belatedly realized she had entered the room without permission. She quickly apologized, “I’m sorry!”
Che Gulai: “…”
She leaned against the bed, crossing her arms. “What is it?”
Che Gulai had a pair of phoenix eyes, very long at the outer corners, like a sharp stroke of a calligraphy brush. On her exquisite, beautiful face, they added a non-seductive but charming beauty—stunning and intense.
When those eyes looked at someone expressionlessly, the long, slightly upturned corners were cool and distant, like a cold rose thorn, making her unapproachable.
Shen Sijin met that gaze and nervously bit her lip, stubbornly refusing to speak.
Che Gulai watched her hesitate for a long time without breathing out a single word and frowned. “Are you mute? Speak.”
Shen Sijin didn’t know how to start. If she said she wanted to sleep with her, Che Gulai would definitely think she was insane.
But Shen Sijin was truly suffering. She wanted to get a good night’s sleep. That woman always followed her every night, and the tinnitus was relentless.
Back in the bathroom, Shen Sijin noticed that the moment Che Gulai appeared, the woman and the tinnitus vanished. She wanted to try if being in the same space as Che Gulai would allow her to finally sleep well.
But Che Gulai probably still hated her. Shen Sijin didn’t know how to explain the situation to make Che Gulai agree.
She was hesitant. Che Gulai was running out of patience. “If it’s nothing, get out.”
“I want to sleep you.” Shen Sijin gritted her teeth, her head feeling hot, and her mouth slipped, accidentally saying the wrong thing.
Che Gulai: “…”
The air was dead silent.
Tick-tock.
The clock on the wall was turning.
“What did you say?” Che Gulai’s expression was bad. It was clear she was also doubting her own hearing, yet felt she must have misunderstood. Her expression was furious.
Shen Sijin realized the absurd thing she had said. Red quickly spread over her cheeks, and she explained in a fluster, “No, no, I… I didn’t mean that. I… I meant can I sleep with you.”
This explanation had the same shocking impact as the original statement. The coldness on Che Gulai’s face was practically freezing.
The more anxious Shen Sijin became, the more tangled her words got. She frantically grabbed her hair, making her fuzzy short hair a mess.
“Not sleep together,” she re-explained, pointing to the small bed in the corner, where some clutter was piled up. “I can sleep there.”
Che Gulai’s expression worsened. She looked at her as if she were a lunatic.
What nonsense is this psycho talking about?
The person who usually wanted her dead was now hugging her and asking to sleep in the same room.
Insane.
Shen Sijin’s level of madness was beyond Che Gulai’s comprehension.
“…Is that okay?” Shen Sijin asked cautiously, her pupils shining.
Absolutely not.
Che Gulai almost wanted to curse.
“No,” Che Gulai said coldly.
