- Chapter 11 - The Aftermath of Victory
This time, the instructor was a little more humane than Bai Jiling and gave the students enough time to rest. Sheng Nanxi looked at You Min, who was sitting not far from them, with a worried expression. She recalled the times Yu Sui had gotten into conflicts with her at school, and her heart was in her throat.
“A Sui, you definitely can’t beat her one-on-one. How about I go talk to the instructor?” Sheng Nanxi didn’t care about the score anymore. The moment she saw Yu Sui clenching her fists and glaring at the provocative You Min, she knew that the priority was to extinguish Yu Sui’s anger.
Ren Xuran was also a person who loved a good show, but at a time like this, she didn’t dare to cheer for a fight. You Min was indeed a very annoying person, and teaching her a lesson was the right thing to do, but that would require all of them to go at her together.
Counting on Yu Sui alone would be difficult.
She looked back at the silent Ding Yan and whispered, “How about you switch places with Yu Sui and go fight You Min?”
Ding Yan frowned: “You think I haven’t asked? The instructor has to agree to it.”
Yu Sui had already changed her clothes. Her tone was relaxed as she tried to comfort them: “I won’t let her get the upper hand. You guys have to have faith in me.”
The others said okay, but their hesitation was still visible in their eyes. Yu Sui knew that with the original owner’s flimsy skills, she was no match for You Min. But she had never backed down from protecting Sheng Nanxi.
Although she didn’t agree with the original owner’s overbearing style, she admired and approved of her loyalty to her friends. As an orphan, she hadn’t encountered many friends who were truly sincere and consistent with her, let alone someone who would stand up for her without hesitation.
She had a few, but as the years went on and people started thinking more about their own interests, friends who would still stand up for her without a second thought became even rarer.
So Yu Sui cherished this friendship, and from the bottom of her heart, she hoped that one day she could continue this kind of friendship.
She knew that the various changes happening in her body meant she would become stronger and stronger. Since she had this ability, why not use it to do something good? You Min was truly an annoying person, and not giving her a lesson would be a waste of a good fist.
When the break was over, Yu Sui gently patted each of their shoulders and was the first to walk towards the competition area: “Come on and cheer for me.”
You Min was a head taller than Yu Sui and looked much sturdier. Her ponytail was tied up high. She was giving Yu Sui a malicious smile.
Instructor Luo once again emphasized the rules of the competition: “This is a free sparring match. You can fight, but you must be careful not to intentionally injure your opponent and avoid hitting vital areas. Just decide a winner.”
Both sides nodded, indicating that they understood. But from You Min’s eyes, Yu Sui saw more than just that.
Instructor Luo turned to make the final preparations before the match. You Min continued to warm up, lowered her head slightly, and declared war on Yu Sui: “If you can’t beat me, you can surrender loudly. I promise I won’t continue to chase you and hit you.”
Yu Sui didn’t like to cause trouble, but she wasn’t a coward when faced with it. As an orphan, she had to rely on herself for everything. If she backed down from every little thing, what would happen to her? You Min’s smug look made her want to punch her right there and then.
“I’m afraid you’ll forget how to say ‘I surrender’ once you start hurting.”
What a bold statement. Last week, during the physical assessment, You Min thought Yu Sui had changed her personality, but it seemed she only lasted a week before her true colors were exposed.
“Talking tough is useless. You have to rely on this here.” You Min deliberately hit her fists together.
Yu Sui couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to her. She wasn’t intimidated by her show of force. She calmly stepped back a few steps, stretched her neck, and waited for Instructor Luo to announce the start.
Ren Xuran watched Sheng Nanxi, whose eyebrows were tightly furrowed, staring at the stage. She was even more nervous than Yu Sui, who was actually fighting. She had to try to help her relax: “I think Yu Sui is in great form today. She might even win.”
Sheng Nanxi took a deep breath: “Even if she wins, she’ll get hurt. This is all my fault. I don’t want her to get hurt.”
Ding Yan also came over to console her: “That’s not right, Class Leader. It’s You Min’s fault. It has nothing to do with you. Yu Sui was just unlucky to draw her today, but we can’t lose our confidence. Even if she gets hit today, we’ll get revenge for her when we go back to the dorm tonight!”
Sheng Nanxi always said that the few of them had a wild streak. But at this moment, she couldn’t help but laugh: “A Sui was definitely led astray by you guys.”
Ren Xuran shook her head violently: “We’re not taking the blame for that. It was Boss Yu who led us astray.”
Just then, Instructor Luo signaled for the match to begin. You Min didn’t waste a moment. She charged forward with a flurry of punches and kicks. Yu Sui first dodged, trying to see her patterns before counterattacking. But You Min took this as a sign of fear and evasion.
The smirk on her face became more and more contemptuous, as if to say, “I didn’t think you would get so timid.”
Yu Sui didn’t bother with these appearances. She carefully observed You Min’s every move, and she quickly found You Min’s weakness: her left leg.
When a punch came towards her, Yu Sui didn’t dodge anymore. She raised her hand to block and pushed hard, causing You Min’s hand to go numb. You Min was shocked and threw another punch. This time, Yu Sui was quicker. She threw a punch and hit You Min in midair.
This punch was Yu Sui’s first proactive move. It was stronger than her defensive moves, and it was incredibly fast. You Min didn’t even see which direction it came from, but the pain in her hand was very real.
Yu Sui’s cheering squad of three below the stage was completely stunned. They didn’t expect Yu Sui to not only be unharmed but to also counterattack so quickly.
Ren Xuran was dazed and exclaimed, “It’s not just me, is it? Yu Sui really hit her, right?”
Sheng Nanxi smiled and confirmed for her: “You’re not imagining things. A Sui hit her very hard.”
Ren Xuran came back to her senses and also started to smile: “How come you look even happier than Yu Sui, as if you were the one who hit her?”
Sheng Nanxi pursed her lips and continued to watch the stage. Ding Yan suddenly said, “You Min’s first move was a brutal one. With a heart that wicked, she deserves to be hit.”
Yu Sui, after figuring out You Min’s moves, began a fierce counterattack. She used her fists and feet, and her punches carried a breeze. Her lower body specifically targeted You Min’s left leg. This caused the six-foot-tall You Min to practically hop around to dodge her.
You Min was a bit flustered. She never expected Yu Sui to be so crazy and so powerful today. After getting hit a few times, she realized that Yu Sui wasn’t just crazy; she had actually gotten stronger.
This put her in a difficult position. Surrendering in public was out of the question, but if she continued to go head-to-head, she had almost no chance of winning. She either had to call a stop to it or continue to endure. Neither option was good.
The crowd below was also stunned. No one expected the match to be a one-sided beatdown, with Yu Sui chasing You Min and hitting her.
Just when everyone thought Yu Sui was about to knock You Min down and win the match, Chu Jiayun and Bai Jiling suddenly appeared in the stadium. Instructor Luo glanced at them and just nodded. They didn’t get any closer and just stopped at the entrance.
Yu Sui didn’t know if they were just passing by or if they had come to watch the match. Ever since they appeared, she had to think about another problem.
If she continued to fight like this, she probably wouldn’t be able to hide the changes in her body. Based on Bai Jiling’s experience and Chu Jiayun’s analysis, she would undoubtedly become a key focus of their attention.
This was the complete opposite of what she wanted, so she couldn’t do that. She decided to show weakness. She had already had enough fun hitting You Min anyway, and You Min had plenty of bruises on her body and face to remember her lesson.
Seeing that Yu Sui’s offense had weakened, You Min seized the opportunity to launch a fierce counterattack. Now it was her turn to go crazy. She had been suppressed all this time, and her strength had nowhere to go. Yu Sui had hit her so hard that she couldn’t even vent her anger, and she had completely lost face.
If this got back to the Taekwondo club, she would probably be too embarrassed to continue being the president. The anger that had been building up made her lose her composure. She didn’t remember Instructor Luo’s warning about stopping when the winner was decided. She saw an opportunity, and her eyes turned red.
She only wanted to get back the face she had lost from Yu Sui and to return the pain she had endured tenfold. But no matter what she did, she couldn’t truly hurt Yu Sui. Yu Sui had just stopped attacking her, but she didn’t give her many opportunities to get the upper hand.
You Min became more and more agitated. Her rationality could no longer control her actions. She didn’t care at all what the instructors present thought of her.
Chu Jiayun frowned and said to Bai Jiling, “You Min is on the verge of losing control. This is not a good sign.”
Bai Jiling was also a bit disappointed. You Min had been a good prospect before: “If a talented Alpha can’t even control themselves, they have no right to manage other resources.”
For this match, the outcome wasn’t what they cared about the most. They wanted to see the balance between power and self-control that the students showed in a fierce competition like this.
Yu Sui glanced at Chu Jiayun, who was watching her intently. She gritted her teeth and gave up another step. She took a punch from You Min to her cheek, and it really hurt.
Sheng Nanxi cried out. At the last moment, Yu Sui seemed to be running out of energy and couldn’t hold her own anymore.
Chu Jiayun’s expression changed slightly, and she prepared to get closer with Bai Jiling. Instructor Luo called a stop to the match. The winner was already clear, and she had only waited to give Chu Jiayun more time to observe their emotional changes.
You Min had finally landed a sneak attack, but one punch wasn’t enough. She ignored the call to stop and swung her fist, wanting to experience the thrill she had felt earlier.
Yu Sui rolled her eyes inwardly and wondered if she was ever going to stop. Fortunately, Instructor Luo pulled her away in time.
“You Min, I already said stop! Why did you keep going?”
Instructor Luo’s stern questioning made You Min calm down. Her red eyes were fixed on Yu Sui. She had lost so unexpectedly today, and she was so unwilling to accept it!
Chu Jiayun walked over to the side of the stage and looked at Yu Sui, who had just come down. Her short hair was completely soaked in sweat, and the bruise on her cheek looked especially prominent.
Yu Sui smiled with difficulty: “Instructor Chu came to watch the match, too?”
The emotions in Chu Jiayun’s eyes were hard to read. She quietly looked at Yu Sui for a moment, then suddenly raised her hand and wiped Yu Sui’s nose. Her finger cleaned the residual blood. “Go to the school doctor and get that wound treated as soon as possible.”
