- After the Maniacal Alpha Settled Down, She Had a Wife and Daughter
- Chapter 2 - Her Attention
This was Chu Jiayun’s fourth time participating in the training program. Although the students were all top-quality prospects who had not yet differentiated but would most likely become Alphas, as an Omega, she couldn’t be completely without pressure.
However, the bigger pressure came from her fellow instructors. Some of them were already teachers at Jingcheng University, while others, like her, were top professionals from various industries invited specifically for this program. Without exception, they were all excellent Alphas, and spending three months with them was Chu Jiayun’s biggest potential danger.
To minimize the risk, she would use powerful inhibitors to completely mask her Omega traits, and then use a special concoction to disguise herself as an Alpha.
Of course, this was only possible with the secret assistance of Bai Jiling, the head of the training program. From her tone just now, it seemed she was concerned about Chu Jiayun’s disguise plan this year.
Chu Jiayun temporarily looked away from the computer screen, thought for a moment, and asked, “Jiling, if you have any concerns, you can tell me directly.”
There was a slight hesitation on the other end of the phone, but Bai Jiling didn’t change the subject. She was indeed worried that Chu Jiayun’s disguise would be exposed this time and also worried about her health, as using powerful inhibitors could cause damage to an Omega’s body.
“You’re not as young as you were four years ago, and you have to disguise yourself like this every year. You should really consider your health.”
Chu Jiayun simply curved her lips into a smile, so small it was almost unnoticeable. Health? She didn’t care. She had to go to Jingcheng University, where the answers she had been searching for for four years were waiting.
But she wouldn’t say that to Bai Jiling’s face; otherwise, she would never get the other woman’s full cooperation and cover.
“I take care of myself every year after I return from Jingcheng, so you don’t have to worry about me.”
“Jiayun, you’re 28 now!” Bai Jiling’s tone became more serious, especially after hearing Chu Jiayun’s indifferent attitude.
“I know,” Chu Jiayun paused, then laughed lightly. “We’re the same age. Are you trying to remind me to give you an early birthday present?”
“Don’t change the subject. We both know that Omegas face a huge physical change at the age of 30. If… if you haven’t been marked by then, your scent gland could be damaged. Plus, with all those medications you’ve been using, I’m really afraid you’ll…”
Before Bai Jiling could finish, Chu Jiayun interrupted her coldly: “These are my issues, and I can handle them.”
Even though Bai Jiling helped her, it wasn’t because Chu Jiayun begged for it. On the contrary, Bai Jiling was the one who offered to help. She also knew Chu Jiayun didn’t like others getting too involved, so she had never figured out her true purpose all these years.
“I’m not trying to interfere. I’m just afraid you’ve forgotten about yourself,” Bai Jiling said. Ever since Chu Jiayun’s younger sister had an accident four years ago, her personality had completely changed.
The old Chu Jiayun was passionate and fiery. Although her appearance was cold, she was wild at heart. With the added traits of an S-class Omega, a single glance from her could make a person lose their mind.
Now, she had completely reined in that wildness and passion, only showing the surface layer of her coldness, making her difficult to approach. Bai Jiling felt a pang of sadness but also a little joy, as she was one of the few exceptions who could still maintain a close relationship with Chu Jiayun.
After the call ended, Chu Jiayun didn’t dwell on Bai Jiling’s warning. From the day she decided to start her disguise, it meant she wouldn’t give up easily until she found her answer.
She printed out Yu Sui’s file separately and looked at it carefully again. Four years ago, she had been Yu Mu’s training instructor and had a lasting impression of her. She heard that Yu Sui was a much more difficult “troublemaker” than her sister, the kind of person whose name would make teachers frown.
The ID photo was taken recently. Her features were perfect, with a straight but slightly curved nose, adding a touch of softness to her heroic look. Her lips were thin, and the corners seemed to have a natural curve, making her smile look like a gentle spring breeze.
There was a teardrop mole under her right eye, covered by light makeup, but Chu Jiayun still remembered it.
That year, Yu Mu had a lot of psychological fluctuations around the time of her differentiation and often confided in her. Once, Yu Sui came barging in, arguing with her sister for staying out too late.
Good genes, indeed. The sisters both had stunning features, but with different temperaments. The older Yu Sui had softer lines and a slightly weaker aura than Yu Mu, probably due to her not having differentiated yet. Even so, among all the ID photos, she easily stood out, instantly grabbing attention.
Chu Jiayun looked through Yu Sui’s other information, her fingers tightly gripping her photo, her gaze deep.
There was a special mark from Bai Jiling under Yu Sui’s name, the meaning of which only Chu Jiayun understood. It indicated that Yu Sui was one of the students most likely to differentiate into an SS-class Alpha. Sheng Nanxi’s name had the same mark.
**
Sheng Nanxi’s birthday party was about to start. Guests were arriving, but the birthday girl was in her room upstairs, chatting with her friend Yu Sui.
She reached out and gently touched the hair near Yu Sui’s ear: “I really didn’t expect you to wear a wig today.”
“It’s better than being compared to by my dad, right?”
Sheng Nanxi was the typical girl with long, straight black hair. She had been that way since she was a child. Today, to match her makeup, she had styled it into an updo.
She covered her mouth and laughed: “I’m even more surprised that you would consider that.”
Yu Sui pouted. Compared to the original owner’s arrogant personality, she was indeed more “normal.” Perhaps it was because she was an orphan and didn’t have the luxury of being willful. Any rebellious streak she had was mostly kept to herself.
Sheng Nanxi tilted her head and stared at the silent Yu Sui for a moment: “I feel like you’ve been a little different lately.”
Yu Sui instinctively clenched her fist, pursing her lips as she thought about how to answer. She and the original owner had spent a lot of time with Sheng Nanxi, so it would be impossible for her not to notice any small changes.
Before she could speak, Sheng Nanxi voiced her own guess: “Is it because you’re worried about differentiating?”
Yu Sui wasn’t worried at all because she knew the plot. If anything, she was worried about protecting her scent gland.
Sheng Nanxi sighed faintly: “Me too, to be honest. I’m both excited and scared.”
Yu Sui looked at the increasingly soft lines on her face and asked tentatively, “Have you ever thought about what would happen if we don’t differentiate into Alphas?”
That result would undoubtedly be disappointing for families like theirs.
“Of course, I have, but when I start to think about it, I don’t really want to continue.”
The worry in Sheng Nanxi’s eyes deepened, and Yu Sui didn’t press her. It was her birthday, after all; there was no need to be a downer.
Sheng Nanxi, having recovered her mood, was just as excited and curious about the appearance of the SS-class Alpha as everyone else.
“I heard the head of the biology institute say that the SS-class Alpha will successfully differentiate this year. I wonder who it will be among us classmates?”
This training program at Jingcheng University wasn’t just a regular pre-graduation employment counseling. It was a special training based on their differentiated attributes. This session they were about to attend was undoubtedly the one most likely to produce this person.
Yu Sui unconsciously licked her lips, forcing a smile: “It’s all just a rumor. When it comes to differentiation, who can be 100% sure? Besides, there are so few living SS-class Alphas, and they might not be as powerful as the rumors say.”
“I told you to study more and read books. It’s clearly written in textbooks: SS-class Alphas have absolute dominance. The fact that they can clear and replace other Alpha’s permanent marks is scary enough. I heard someone saw an SS-class Alpha’s pupils change color when they marked someone. So exciting.”
Yu Sui remained calm and seemed uninterested in the topic. Sheng Nanxi pretended to glare at her in dissatisfaction: “Didn’t you used to say you were the most likely to become one? Why are you suddenly not interested?”
Yu Sui swallowed hard and cleared her throat: “Did I? I was just saying that randomly. I mean, the whole pupil changing color thing just sounds ridiculous.”
It sounded so bestial. Not only could they mark all Omegas, but they could also erase other Alphas’ marks. Such powerful abilities felt a little too hot to handle for Yu Sui.
A week later, they were sent to a base in the suburbs of Jingcheng for a three-month adaptation training program. This was a property that Jingcheng University had specially acquired for the program, and only the most exceptional students could come here.
In other words, everyone who attended the training at this base was outstanding.
After finishing the brief meeting with the instructors, Bai Jiling kept Chu Jiayun back. Although she had personally picked her up from the airport two days ago, Chu Jiayun, now in her instructor’s uniform, was even more charismatic than before.
“Instructor Chu, I’ll arrange a meet-and-greet with the students this afternoon. I’ll put your part at the end.”
Chu Jiayun walked out of the conference room with her, heading towards the teaching building.
“Thank you for the consideration, Director Bai.”
Bai Jiling’s action was intentional. Chu Jiayun needed more time to carefully observe each student.
At this moment, Yu Sui was being dragged by a few classmates she was close with at school. As they entered the long corridor, they saw two tall, upright figures not far away.
S-class Omega Chu Jiayun was about 1.7 meters tall. With her five-centimeter heels, she stood next to Bai Jiling, who was 1.75 meters tall and also wearing heels. Her aura wasn’t diminished at all. The two instructors were beautiful in their own unique ways.
Yu Sui stopped in her tracks, refusing to move forward. She even turned around to go back, but her classmates held her back.
“I just remembered I haven’t finished packing yet. Sheng Nanxi can’t manage on her own.”
The dorms were double rooms this time, so she was, of course, rooming with Sheng Nanxi.
“Oh, come on, Yu Sui. Who cares about packing? It’s more important to see the beautiful instructors.”
Bai Jiling was beautiful, but they had seen her several times at Jingcheng University, so it wasn’t a novelty. The one they were truly eager to see was Instructor Chu, who only came once a year.
Yu Sui was about to shake them off and leave when someone suddenly called her name.
Bai Jiling saw them and gestured for them to come over.
Yu Sui slowed her pace but had no choice but to follow. Compared to her classmates who were overjoyed, she seemed very reluctant to approach the two instructors.
When Chu Jiayun was surrounded, Yu Sui instinctively leaned against the wall, showing no interest in joining the crowd.
Even though her eyes were cast down, it didn’t stop Chu Jiayun’s gaze from wandering over her.
The students were all very clever, chattering and trying to get closer to Instructor Chu. However, they only received answers similar to what they had heard from others before.
When the excitement died down, Yu Sui let out a sigh of relief, thinking she could finally leave.
Unexpectedly, Chu Jiayun suddenly called her name: “Yu Sui, is that right? You seem unhappy. Is there anything I can help you with?”
