After the Maniacal Alpha Settled Down, She Had a Wife and Daughter - Chapter 27
Chu Jiayun wore a dress today and had her long hair down, which made her look considerably younger. She wore light makeup and a delicate, shimmering platinum necklace on her neck, adorning her perfect collarbones to make them incredibly alluring.
This dress style was different from her previous professional attire—it was casual yet intellectual, adding a touch of softness to the students’ impression of Chu Jiayun.
Ren Xuran’s eyes went wide. She cried out: “Instructor Chu, you are too beautiful! You are simply the pinnacle of gorgeous Alphas. How are the rest of us supposed to compete?”
She said she wanted to compete, but in fact, she was almost drooling. Such a mature and sensual Alpha made these recently differentiated young ones willing to “become Omegas for love.”
Chu Jiayun toned down the severity she had in training. She generally didn’t mind unless the jokes were especially excessive. However, being surrounded by so many Alphas for so long was a little overwhelming for her.
She smiled and accepted the praise, using the opportunity of greeting Sheng Nanxi to temporarily break away from the crowd. Her eyes casually scanned the person standing not far behind Sheng Nanxi.
Sheng Nanxi’s face was full of joy, with a hint of shyness, but she also said “so beautiful,” just like Ren Xuran and the others.
Chu Jiayun saw her return to her cheerful self, confirming that she hadn’t lied in their email communications. Even though the process of communicating with her family was not smooth, she was actively trying to walk out of it step by step.
She nodded with great satisfaction: “Sheng Nanxi, you are even more beautiful when you regain your confidence.”
Sheng Nanxi smiled sweetly after the compliment: “I have to thank all of you for not giving up on me.”
Chu Jiayun’s heels were a little high today. After all, these students had all grown taller after differentiation. She didn’t use an inhibitor, but she subconsciously wanted to maintain her Alpha presence in her attire.
Sheng Nanxi lowered her head shyly. Instructor Chu smiled with satisfaction, looking at the top of her head. If this scene were frozen, it could instantly become a comic strip. Ding Yan watched and sighed: “Sweet girl Omega paired with a mature Alpha, that’s a perfect match. So shippable.”
Ren Xuran looked displeased and glared at her: “You’re trying to set people up randomly!”
Ding Yan teased her: “Don’t even think about it. You’re an Alpha. You have no chance with Instructor Chu.”
Ren Xuran knew this, and she didn’t necessarily expect any substantial progress. But every time she thought of Chu Jiayun, she couldn’t help but feel a flutter in her heart.
She even secretly wondered if her differentiation result was wrong or if her Alpha was special, specifically liking her own kind.
Cai Ningmeng interrupted their squabbling and gestured towards Yu Sui: “Yu Sui is a bit strange today.”
Ren Xuran felt the same way: “Yeah, everyone else has said their piece, but she’s still standing there.”
Cai Ningmeng called her with a smile: “Yu Sui, it’s your turn for the concluding remarks. Let’s hear how you praise Instructor Chu.”
Yu Sui was usually the last to speak in these situations. At this moment, however, she wished she had a personal space she could immediately hide in.
Chu Jiayun’s gaze finally rested on her legitimately. Yu Sui couldn’t avoid it, so she smiled and walked toward her. Sheng Nanxi waved at her, signaling her to come closer: “We’ve graduated. You don’t have to be afraid of Instructor Chu anymore.”
Yu Sui retorted defensively: “I’m not afraid.”
She felt the gaze still lingering on her face, but the emotion was very light and non-aggressive, as if she was truly just waiting for her to say something.
Seeing everyone waiting for her to speak, Yu Sui had no choice but to broaden her smile: “Instructor Chu, you look really beautiful today.”
Ren Xuran and the others waited for a moment, and when they didn’t hear anything further, they were puzzled: “That’s it?”
Although the rest of the words were unspoken, the subtext on their faces clearly said, “You’re not doing so well.” Yu Sui pretended not to see it. Her eyes shifted and met Chu Jiayun’s gaze.
The tip of Yu Sui’s heart was lightly pricked, a slightly tingling feeling, very unfamiliar and… a little special.
She couldn’t help but add: “I’m just at a loss for words. No matter how much flowery language I use, it won’t change the fact that she looks beautiful.”
Chu Jiayun slightly curved her lips, clearly in a good mood: “Thank you for the compliment.”
Yu Sui couldn’t help but look at her again, only to instinctively look away when their eyes met. Chu Jiayun pursed her lips and actively turned to return to the table.
Ren Xuran was the host and was busy all evening. The dishes were extremely abundant, and the service was meticulous. The group ate to their heart’s content.
On Ren’s home turf, everyone felt much more relaxed. After a few drinks, the youthful enthusiasm of the young people flared up.
Unlike the previous gathering, most of the people who came today were close friends in private, and they were generally aware of Ren Xuran’s feelings for Chu Jiayun. They usually joked about it to tease her, but now that Instructor Chu was actually here, they saw Ren Xuran’s meek and nervous demeanor and couldn’t bring themselves to tease her as usual.
Ding Yan was bold. Her face was flushed after a few drinks. Seeing Ren Xuran, who had finally sat down to eat a few bites after being busy until now, she encouraged her: “You should just take advantage of tonight and sound her out.”
Ren Xuran bit her chopsticks: “Sound out what?”
“Everyone knows what’s on your mind. Instead of being anxious and tangled up, you might as well say it as a joke. Even if you get rejected, you can just pretend it was a joke, and you won’t lose face.”
Ren Xuran held her wine glass, hesitating to act.
Yu Sui was sitting next to Ding Yan and heard the conversation clearly. She was surprised and very curious. She turned to Sheng Nanxi on the other side and asked: “Do you know Ren Xuran’s secret?”
Sheng Nanxi paused and whispered: “Are you referring to Instructor Chu?”
Yu Sui’s eyes widened. She was even more surprised: “How do you all know, and I don’t?”
Sheng Nanxi covered her mouth and chuckled a few times: “That’s because you always made excuses to slip away when we talked about Instructor Chu. If you don’t listen, of course you won’t know anything.” After saying that, she glanced at Chu Jiayun, who was sitting diagonally across from them: “But you’re not the only one who’s uninformed.”
Yu Sui didn’t need to look to know who the other person she was referring to was. However, she had a different opinion on the matter: “Don’t forget what line of work she’s in. Could Ren Xuran’s little tricks possibly work on an expert?”
Sheng Nanxi was about to ask why she thought Instructor Chu was an expert when she saw Ren Xuran truly being egged on and raising her wine glass.
She slowly walked to Chu Jiayun, the flush on her cheeks whether from the alcohol or nervousness, and even her voice trembled more than usual.
As soon as Chu Jiayun looked up, the glass of wine was already in front of her.
“I’d like to propose a toast to you. Thank you, Instructor Chu, for your dedicated guidance during the training and for still caring about us after graduation, and for not getting angry at our harassment.”
“This is my job. I’m happy to be able to help you.”
The glasses clinked lightly. Chu Jiayun only took a small sip and simultaneously stopped Ren Xuran’s attempt to drink the whole thing with abandon: “You’re still young. Don’t drink too much.”
Ren Xuran had just swallowed the wine in her mouth when she suddenly felt emboldened. She decided to go all in and give it a try: “Although I’m not old, I’m mentally mature and particularly flexible.”
Everyone else guessed what she was trying to say. Yu Sui put down her chopsticks, folded her arms, and watched coldly, her interest not as high as the others.
Sheng Nanxi felt Yu Sui was being overly serious, thinking she was angry that Ren Xuran had kept it a secret from her, but this couldn’t entirely be blamed on Ren Xuran.
“Instructor Chu, I can really become an Omega for love. Would you consider accepting me…”
After Ren Xuran said that, seeing no reaction from Chu Jiayun, she quickly found a way out for herself, dragging out the last word: “…’s knee?”
Sure enough, as Yu Sui had said, how could such a simple trick escape Chu Jiayun’s notice? She had a vague premonition when Ren Xuran walked towards her with a blushing, awkward expression.
However, Yu Sui’s reaction also didn’t escape her notice. Across half a table, she seemed to be able to feel where the cold wind was coming from. Ren Xuran’s sudden confession had initially annoyed her, but since she was essentially a good student and different from the suitors she had coldly rejected in the past, she had to find a tactful and gentle way to decline so as not to cause her any emotional trauma.
After sensing the cold wind, Chu Jiayun’s annoyance suddenly lessened. The corners of her mouth subconsciously curved into an arc, which made Ren Xuran, who was waiting in agony, a little disbelieving.
She had already been silently chanting the answer in her heart, but seeing that brief smile from Chu Jiayun, the small spark of hope in her heart showed signs of rekindling.
Finally, Chu Jiayun looked up and said earnestly: “Drink less alcohol and supplement with more calcium, and your knee will be fine. I’m only a psychological counselor, strictly speaking not a doctor, so I probably can’t help you much with physical issues.”
Ren Xuran understood the hint and didn’t say any more inappropriate things. She smiled and finished the rest of the wine in her glass: “I’ll listen to Instructor Chu. After finishing this glass, I’ll drink milk from now on.”
Everyone else also understood and continued chatting and laughing, quickly returning the awkward, stagnant atmosphere to its former state. Yu Sui’s expression softened a little, but she didn’t have much of an appetite anymore. She lifted the lid of the stew pot, ready to eat dessert.
Sheng Nanxi found her reaction just now a bit abnormal: “You’re not even bothered by this, are you?”
Ever since she learned that Yu Sui had differentiated into an SS-class, Sheng Nanxi had been constantly applying the knowledge she read in textbooks to her. Things like absolute dominance, powerful intimidation, and overbearing possessiveness—images that might not have been associated with Yu Sui before—were now all possibilities.
Yu Sui didn’t know what she was angry about. She was just uncomfortable with the fact that Ren Xuran had feelings for Chu Jiayun. Once her anger subsided, she started worrying again about whether Ren Xuran had also discovered the secret that Chu Jiayun was actually an Omega.
This matter could be serious or minor. If it blew up, it would inevitably affect Chu Jiayun’s career and reputation.
She confirmed with Sheng Nanxi again: “Is Ren Xuran really bold enough to pursue an AA relationship?”
“I wouldn’t know about that. I don’t understand you Alphas’ thoughts at all.”
Throughout the entire evening, Yu Sui and Chu Jiayun spoke directly to each other no more than ten sentences. Besides the initial greetings when they met, the only other conversation was a brief exchange when others on the table prompted Yu Sui to introduce her study destination after the summer vacation.
Although there were few conversations, their eyes met accidentally across the room several times. But as soon as they realized the other person was looking at them, they would quickly shift their gaze.
When the dinner gathering ended, Ren Xuran sent everyone off to their family cars one after another, finally letting out a sigh of relief. It was lively tonight, but she felt a little empty inside.
The evening was the most comfortable time in the summer. She stood there, quietly enjoying the breeze, and suddenly saw Yu Sui talking to Chu Jiayun not far away.
She hadn’t paid much attention when they saw each other often, but Ren Xuran suddenly noticed that Yu Sui was almost the same height as Instructor Chu, and Yu Sui was wearing soft-soled casual leather shoes.
Well, I’ll be. She had grown so much without anyone noticing. She was also an Alpha. Why did she only grow four or five centimeters? The empty feeling returned. Ren Xuran took a different route back, not wanting to disturb them.
Yu Sui had overheard others asking Chu Jiayun on the table how long she would be staying in Jingcheng. She had thought it would be at least a week, but unexpectedly, she had to leave before Wednesday. Calculating the time, she only had tomorrow, Sunday, to ask her out for a cup of milk tea.
Chu Jiayun was interested in Yu Sui’s invitation but didn’t immediately accept.
Yu Sui noticed her hesitation: “Do you have plans for Sunday?”
“I do have an arrangement, but it should be finished before noon.”
She had an appointment with Bai Shiqian at the research institute on Sunday morning. Bai Jiling had asked her out for dinner in the evening, leaving the afternoon free.
“Then call me when you’re free. Xie Xiaoyun recommended a newly opened milk tea shop. She said the taste is top-notch.”
On Sunday, Yu Sui kept her phone with her after lunch, but she didn’t receive a call from Chu Jiayun until 2:30 PM. This made her feel that something was amiss. Chu Jiayun had sent a message around 11:00 AM, saying that things were almost done and she would confirm the meeting time in about half an hour.
It had been so long now, and Chu Jiayun hadn’t sent any more messages.
Yu Sui was about to call her when Chu Jiayun finally called.
As soon as she answered, before she could speak, she heard the other person say: “Tian Yuan Hotel 703, come find me.”
