After the Maniacal Alpha Settled Down, She Had a Wife and Daughter - Chapter 38
Chu Jiayun was worried about her daughter and rushed back as soon as she finished discussing the most important issue with Yu Sui. Just before she left, Yu Sui suddenly called out to her.
“What is Xinxin’s full name?”
Chu Jiayun was startled. She turned back to look at her: “Chu Nian.”
Yu Sui sat alone in the cafe for a long time until fine rain began to fall outside the window. Only then did she receive a call from Yu Mu.
“Disappearing in broad daylight, where did you run off to for inspiration this time?”
“Sister, are you done with work?”
“You came all this way to find me, so I have to make time for you, no matter how busy I am.”
“I’m all grown up. You don’t need to accompany me. Business is important.”
Yu Mu scoffed: “Then honestly tell me, why did you suddenly change your ticket and rush to the Netherlands? If it’s not for me, then what is it for?”
Yu Sui didn’t want to tell anyone about Xinxin too early. Chu Jiayun had just opened up. If she was too aggressive, she might backfire and scare her away.
She could sense Chu Jiayun’s concern and protectiveness over Xinxin. Even getting close to her wasn’t easy.
“Of course, I wanted to come and see you and admire the tulips.”
Yu Mu clearly didn’t believe her, but she was still happy that Yu Sui came. In recent years, besides her detouring to see her sister during business trips, they rarely had time to meet.
“It just so happens that Instructor Chu and the others are here. I’ll organize a dinner for everyone tonight.”
**
There was still some time until dinner. Yu Sui was bored in Yu Mu’s room, watching the news. Yu Mu was on the phone communicating with different people, likely relaying the latest information and trends from the forum. After a while, Yu Mu finally finished her official business and sat next to her to chat about gossip.
“Aren’t you also particularly surprised that Instructor Chu has a three-year-old daughter?”
Yu Sui’s body stiffened. She cautiously glanced at Yu Mu, but seeing that she was only expressing normal astonishment and didn’t seem to know the inside story, she silently breathed a sigh of relief.
“I was shocked when I ran into them at the exhibition too.”
Yu Sui thought, more than shocked, it was practically earth-shattering.
Yu Mu was clearly still immersed in the shock of first meeting Xinxin. It wasn’t appropriate to discuss this with just anyone, so she felt safe talking to her own sister.
“Before, we were all guessing what kind of Omega Instructor Chu would like, but there was never any sign. Later, we even joked privately that Instructor Chu might not be interested in relationships, yet without a word, she even has a daughter now.”
Yu Sui remained silent, but Yu Mu’s words reminded her. If her relationship with Chu Jiayun became public, Chu Jiayun’s secret of being an Omega would be nearly impossible to hide.
Perhaps this was another reason why she chose to hide it from Yu Sui in the first place, after all, besides Yu Sui, others in Jingcheng would also find out.
Yu Mu saw her drifting off and nudged her with her shoulder: “Are you listening to me?”
“I heard you. But that’s her private business. Does having a child require a newspaper announcement?”
“Of course, I don’t mean that. I’m just curious about who Xinxin’s other mother could be.” Yu Mu actually had another curiosity: “I don’t know if it’s my imagination, but I always feel Xinxin looks a little familiar, like I’ve seen her somewhere.”
Yu Sui looked at her nervously: “What can you tell from a child so small? Besides, Xinxin looks quite a bit like Instructor Chu, so your sense of familiarity is probably from Instructor Chu.”
Successfully misled by Yu Sui, Yu Mu’s thoughts were diverted.
“Now that you mention it, that makes sense. Xinxin does look quite a bit like Instructor Chu.”
Just when Yu Sui thought she had finally moved past the topic and was about to relax, Yu Mu spoke again: “I’m not trying to rush you into marriage, but you’re this old and don’t even have a dating partner. Do you have a special plan?”
“Sister, don’t laugh at me. Look at yourself first.”
Yu Mu had a headache. Yu Zhongqing had also urged her many times, but at least she had a busy business as an excuse.
“I have a mountain of work at the company. Where would I find time to date?”
Yu Sui shrugged: “I’m also very busy with design work, and it’s quite mentally taxing.”
“Then how can Ren Xuran change girlfriends every month?”
“People can’t be compared like that. And Sheng Nanxi only cares about studying. Even when others pursue her and send love letters and chocolates to her apartment door, she still refuses them.”
Yu Mu’s eyes darkened, and her voice deepened: “Someone is pursuing Sheng Nanxi?”
Yu Sui rubbed her temples. She hadn’t slept much last night and was truly exhausted. Her eyes were closed, so she didn’t see Yu Mu’s change in expression, but she could hear the surprise in her sister’s tone.
“What’s so strange about that? Do you think Nanxi’s conditions are poor? Since she enrolled, she’s had a continuous stream of admirers, okay?”
“Then why hasn’t she mentioned it?”
Yu Sui finally opened her eyes: “Who would be so boring as to constantly talk about having many admirers? That’s too shallow and doesn’t fit Nanxi’s personality.”
Yu Mu didn’t think this was ordinary. If Yu Sui hadn’t mentioned it casually, she truly wouldn’t have known Sheng Nanxi had so many suitors.
“Then do you know why she doesn’t accept any of them?”
“Although we are close, we haven’t exactly dug into each other’s hearts to know everything.” Yu Sui thought back: “Maybe she hasn’t met the right person. But I always feel like she might have someone she likes in her heart.”
“Who?”
“I’m just guessing. She never said.”
The next day, after waking up, Yu Sui went to find Chu Jiayun. She had promised Xinxin the previous night during dinner that she would come today to hear her “requirements” for the airship.
When Chu Jiayun opened the door, Yu Sui was momentarily distracted by her casual hairstyle. A naturally beautiful woman looks alluring even with minimal effort, but this was clearly a little different from Instructor Chu’s usual public image.
Chu Jiayun probably understood the reason from her gaze. She pursed her lips and stepped aside to let her in.
“Xinxin had a bit of an upset stomach last night and woke up late.”
Yu Sui’s attention quickly shifted from Chu Jiayun’s appearance to Xinxin: “Is she sick?”
“She ate breakfast just now. No problem.”
Just then, Xinxin ran out of the room, wearing light gray overalls paired with a yellow long-sleeved T-shirt, which made her small face look even fairer and softer.
Yu Sui squatted down, steadying her still slightly wobbly little body: “Good morning, Xinxin.”
Xinxin had her hair tied up in a bun, with soft, fluffy wisps scattered around her temples. She rubbed her face: “Auntie Yu, I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
It was then that Yu Sui truly saw it: Xinxin had a very, very faint tear mole, just like her, almost in the exact same spot.
Yu Sui picked her up and said to Chu Jiayun: “I’ll play with her for a while. You can relax and go pack. Don’t forget to eat breakfast.”
After getting up, Chu Jiayun had been busy washing and dressing her daughter and feeding her breakfast. She herself had only quickly cleaned up.
Yu Sui noticing these details made her feel embarrassed, but the thoughtfulness Yu Sui showed was truly touching.
“Alright, I’ll bring her toys over then.”
Xinxin never went out without her beloved toys, so Chu Jiayun had prepared a special box just for them.
Yu Sui sat cross-legged on the carpet, encircling Xinxin in her arms, her hands protecting her on both sides, listening to her introduce her “little friends.”
“Xinxin likes blue?”
“How did you know, Auntie Yu?”
Yu Sui glanced at the toys on the table: “Most of Xinxin’s little friends are wearing blue clothes.”
“Blue is pretty.”
Yu Sui also thought blue was beautiful. It was the sky, the distance, and freedom.
Now, blue might also hold a new layer of warmth for her.
Xinxin brought a small airplane a little further away closer: “White is pretty too.”
“Then shall the Xinxin Airship wear blue clothes too?”
The original Light of the Galaxy airship was entirely silver-white, mixed with matte light gray, giving it a great texture. But this color scheme was a bit dark for a three-year-old.
“Yes! And you have to add my little water bottle!”
The small water bottle she mentioned was sitting on the dining table nearby, short, plump, and pink.
“What else does Xinxin want?”
“I also want lots of hands.”
Yu Sui’s understanding of a child’s linguistic world was limited. Although she tried her best to guess, there were times when she felt powerless.
“What hands?”
“They are wings. They open when flying in the sky.”
“Then why do you want many of them?”
“One pair for flying, and the others can be used to hug Xinxin, and Mom.”
A pang struck Yu Sui’s heart. The child’s innocent face and her naive expectations pierced her deeply. She couldn’t resist leaning in and kissing her little cheek.
To her surprise, Xinxin, who had been very compliant just a moment ago, suddenly cried out. She covered the spot where she was kissed with her hand, trying desperately to break free from Yu Sui’s embrace.
Yu Sui was frightened by her reaction. She didn’t dare to stop her forcefully, nor did she dare to let go. A child running around heedlessly could easily have an accident.
Just then, Chu Jiayun heard the commotion and rushed over. Only then did Yu Sui let go, allowing Xinxin to go to her.
Chu Jiayun squatted down and held Xinxin. Seeing the look of surprise and confusion on Yu Sui’s face, she asked, puzzled: “Xinxin, what happened?”
Xinxin turned her face toward Chu Jiayun: “Mom, Auntie Yu kissed me just now!”
Chu Jiayun was startled. She looked at Yu Sui, who had an innocent and bewildered expression.
Xinxin added: “She didn’t ask me before she kissed me.”
Chu Jiayun hugged her, gently stroking her back to calm her down: “It’s Mom’s fault for not explaining it clearly to Auntie Yu beforehand. Shall Mom apologize to you for her? But Auntie Yu is not a bad person. She won’t do anything bad to Xinxin.”
“She just kissed me.”
After Chu Jiayun coaxed her for a while, Xinxin’s emotions returned to normal. She probably felt a little embarrassed facing Auntie Yu, so she turned her back on them and played by herself.
Yu Sui frowned and whispered: “What’s wrong with Xinxin?”
“I told her that no one, except me, can kiss her or undress her without her permission.”
“She’s so small. Can she understand that?”
Chu Jiayun sounded a little helpless and downcast: “It’s precisely because she can’t discern, so this is the only way. If the potential dangers for children were fewer, what mother would want her child to be like this?”
Yu Sui recalled some social news reports. Children as young as three or four sometimes couldn’t be spared. Sometimes, evil wouldn’t spare a child just because they were small.
“I will be careful in the future.”
Chu Jiayun had fully tidied herself up during the short time Yu Sui spent with Xinxin. Even though a small incident occurred, having someone share the burden of life was genuinely relaxing.
Even for just a little while, it was enough for her to catch her breath.
Or perhaps it was because Yu Sui was Xinxin’s biological parent, so Chu Jiayun felt more reassured compared to leaving her with others.
“I will slowly tell you the things you need to pay attention to in the future.”
Seeing Yu Sui’s desire to get close to Xinxin mixed with her hesitation, Chu Jiayun called her daughter over.
“Xinxin, Auntie Yu didn’t mean to do that just now. She, just like Mom, is someone who wants to be good to Xinxin.”
