After the Scum Alpha Picked Up Her Rival Omega - Chapter 2
The high-end villas in Southern City were heavily guarded. Ming Ruixue returned to her residence carrying a pure white cat, where her assistant, Peng Jia, was waiting at the door.
Seeing her, Peng Jia said anxiously, “Ruixue, where have you been? You didn’t even pick up your phone.”
“The battery died.”
The cat in her arms let out a meow-ooh. Ming Ruixue carried the cat inside, coaxing it, “Good kitty, we’re home.”
Peng Jia saw the beautiful cat with its soft, shiny fur. “Ruixue, where did this cat come from? It’s so beautiful.”
The beautiful cat tilted its head up, accepting the compliment.
Ming Ruixue smiled without speaking, only to hear Peng Jia continue, “Is it a Ragdoll? It’s pretty, but they shed easily and are very hard to take care of.”
Upon hearing this, the beautiful cat became displeased and bared its claws in warning, “Meow-ooh!”
Peng Jia found it funny. “It’s like this cat can understand human speech.”
Ming Ruixue felt the same way, but then she thought: if she, a catnip spirit, could understand humans, what was so strange about a cat doing the same?
Ming Ruixue scratched the beautiful cat’s chin as she remembered business. “Peng Jia, is there something you needed me for?”
“Oh, right.” Peng Jia dutifully showed the itinerary. “There’s a banquet at the Minghui Hotel tonight at 8:00 PM. Did you forget?”
Uh… as a thousand-year-old catnip spirit, she had almost forgotten she had work to do. Without work, how would she have money to raise a cat?
Ming Ruixue suddenly remembered. “I didn’t forget. I was just getting ready to go.”
“Then change your clothes; I’ll wait for you downstairs.” Peng Jia placed the evening dress on the coffee table and stepped out, leaving the door slightly ajar.
Ming Ruixue checked the time; there was still a while before eight. She gently pressed down on the beautiful cat’s rear, her fingertips rubbing in circles. “Good kitty, let me help you solve your heat problem first.”
The beautiful cat’s whole body shuddered, and it began frantically batting at Ming Ruixue’s hand with its paw pads.
Ming Ruixue was nearly dazed by the slapping. “Be good. Why are you so fierce?”
Thinking that the cat was just irritable due to its mating cycle, she felt it was forgivable.
Ming Ruixue continued trying to soothe it, but unexpectedly, the cat gave her a kick. Then, the cat let out a few low growls and hissed at her before quickly darting out the door.
“Wait, kitty!”
By the time Ming Ruixue got up to chase it, the beautiful cat was nowhere to be seen. Ah, it just ran away like that.
However, the beautiful cat seemed different from the weak little thing she first met—it was so fierce. Did it not like her?
Ming Ruixue lowered her eyes in disappointment. Why was it so hard to get a docile cat?
Ming Ruixue went back inside and changed into a gown. The tight-fitting long dress hugged her exquisite figure, revealing only her delicate collarbones. Her slightly curled hair fell down her back; her cold, elegant aura now had a touch of charm.
Peng Jia’s eyes were glued to her. “Ruixue, you are truly too beautiful. It’s a waste not to act in more films or appear on more variety shows.”
Ming Ruixue smiled, knowing Peng Jia was reminding her to take work seriously. After all, her last project was six months ago, and her popularity had long since cooled.
As Peng Jia drove, she provided some background info: “The company received word that the Minghui banquet is organized by Director Ye personally. On the surface, it’s for industry celebrities to network, but Director Ye actually wants to use this chance to scout people for a large-scale dating reality show she’s preparing.”
Ming Ruixue had heard of Director Ye. Every show she produced became a massive hit; countless people scrambled to get on her programs. Even the invitations to this banquet were something celebrities fought tooth and nail for.
Of course, besides Director Ye, other producers and directors would be there today, along with plenty of stars competing for attention.
But Ming Ruixue didn’t like to compete. What belonged to her would naturally find its way to her.
The Minghui banquet was a vanity fair bathed in spotlights.
Ming Ruixue stood alone in a corner of the hall, holding a wine glass.
Despite being in a corner, she still attracted the gazes of many Alphas and Omegas. A dazzling person shines no matter where they stand. However, it was different from what Ming Ruixue expected—no one dared to approach her. Some even fled hastily when they passed her by.
Ming Ruixue searched the original owner’s memory for a list of people she had offended and realized that most of the people at this banquet had some sort of grudge against her.
Ming Ruixue: “…”
Can we even play together happily anymore?
Just as she was thinking about whether to leave, a woman approached her.
“Ruixue, why haven’t you contacted me these past few days?” The woman clinked her glass against Ming’s. “You didn’t answer your phone either. Are you trying to cut ties with me?”
Based on the tone, this was likely a friend of the original owner. Judging by her aura, she was an Alpha—Tan Rui, who had recently become popular through a web drama.
“I’ve been resting these days and haven’t used my phone much.”
Ming Ruixue responded casually. It wasn’t that she didn’t want to reply to messages, but as a catnip spirit, she wasn’t very good at using a smartphone.
Tan Rui leaned in and lightly patted Ming Ruixue’s shoulder, smiling suggestively. “What, overextended? Needed to rest for so many days?”
As expected of the original owner’s friend—her head was filled with nothing but nonsense.
Ming Ruixue’s brow furrowed slightly. “Vulgar.”
Tan Rui gulped down some champagne. “Why are you pretending? Don’t I know what kind of person you are?”
Ming Ruixue didn’t bother to respond; after all, the original owner’s image in the eyes of others couldn’t be changed overnight.
“Ruixue, look over there.” Tan Rui pointed her chin toward the center of the banquet. “Isn’t that your rival, Si Xia? Why is she here too?”
Ming Ruixue followed her gaze. Si Xia was wearing a tube-top evening dress, her shoulders and neck slender and long, her hair cascading behind her. Her skin was snowy white and alluring—a classic top-tier Omega.
Tan Rui picked up a new glass of red wine. “Speaking of which, you and Si Xia haven’t officially met yet, right? Want to go meet her? Maybe your rival will surrender to your beauty.”
A year ago, when Si Xia first debuted, her popularity soared. She finally landed an endorsement deal, only for the original owner to snatch it away and give it to her “fling” at the time. In a fit of rage, Si Xia had publicly shaded Ming Ruixue online, and the two fanbases had been fighting for a year because of it.
The result, of course, was that Si Xia had lost miserably.
Ming Ruixue felt they couldn’t stay at a deadlock like this. “Alright, I’ll go over and say hello.”
Tan Rui wore a “look of understanding.” Ming Ruixue changed Omegas like she changed clothes; she had wondered when it would be Si Xia’s turn. It seemed Ming couldn’t hold back anymore and wanted to bring even her rival into her collection.
Ming Ruixue weighed her words as she walked over. She spoke softly, “Miss Si Xia, hello.”
Hearing the voice, Si Xia turned around. Seeing Ming Ruixue’s annoying face, she reflexively reached her hands behind her back to quietly cover her rear, thinking to herself: What is she doing coming over here to say hello?
Ming Ruixue felt like she was seeing Si Xia “bristle” like a cat. She looked exactly like that beautiful cat from earlier; both of them seemed quite afraid of her.
Ming Ruixue softened her gaze. “I heard Miss Si Xia has a web drama coming up. I’m here to congratulate you. I hope it’s a big hit.”
Heh.
Si Xia curled her lips. “Then I should really thank you. You snatched my TV network resource and stuffed me into a flop web drama, and now you even come over to mock me to my face? I am truly honored.”
Ming Ruixue was stunned. She had no idea about this!!!
Tan Rui was practically dying of laughter. “Ruixue, you’re really something. You’ve learned how to use ‘praise-killing’ and sarcasm.”
“Si Xia, I came to make peace. I didn’t mean to mock you.”
Ming Ruixue leaned in closer. Since the catnip spirit had just taken human form, she couldn’t yet control her Alpha pheromones perfectly. In her excitement, a little bit leaked out.
The scent of catnip began to wind and entwine through the air.
Si Xia froze instantly. A wave of numbing softness spread up her spine. Her Omega heat cycle wasn’t over yet, and her cat ears were so itchy they were about to pop out from her hair.
Wuwuwu…
Why would her rival’s pheromones be catnip-scented!!!
What should she do? She couldn’t resist it at all! It smelled too good!
Her cat tail was about to perk up too, wuwuwu—
