After the Scumbag Alpha Tries to Save the Love-Struck and Flips Over (Quick Transmigration GL) - Chapter 22
Shen Su raised an eyebrow. This Dr. Zhou was indeed just as blunt as she remembered.
In her memories, during a previous holiday trip, she had accidentally bumped into Dr. Zhou, causing the doctor’s coffee to spill onto her coat. Fortunately, it was cold then, and she was wearing a thick down jacket, so she wasn’t hurt. Dr. Zhou offered to compensate her for the jacket, and according to Shen Su’s own character setting, she hadn’t refused.
At the time, she probably thought it was the start of a romantic encounter, so she had added Dr. Zhou’s contact information. However, Dr. Zhou really had only transferred the money for the jacket. They rarely chatted; only when Shen Su posted on her social feed would the doctor occasionally reply. They were essentially “social media besties.”
Shen Su waved her hand helplessly. “This is just the most cautious calculation. After all, life is unpredictable. No one knows which will come first: tomorrow or an accident.”
“Don’t be so quick to borrow trouble,” Dr. Zhou frowned and continued. “There are two ways to extract pheromone solution. One is to come here once a week to extract 10ml. The other way is to surgically remove the gland from a living person and culture it. This allows for continuous extraction, but very few people have used this method. The cultivation equipment only exists in my father’s research institute.”
Shen Su did the math. The former wouldn’t be fast enough; she didn’t have a choice.
Dr. Zhou adjusted her glasses and said, “I’m leaving next week. If you want to proceed with extraction, find a doctor you know at this hospital. However, you’re still so young; there’s no need to be in such a rush.”
Shen Su nodded and asked, “Are you going back to Germany?”
“Yes,” Dr. Zhou nodded.
Shen Su murmured softly, “That’s good.”
Dr. Zhou looked at Shen Su with some confusion. “You aren’t actually thinking about removing your gland, are you?”
Shen Su was afraid Dr. Zhou might let something slip, so she shook her head. Without further explanation, she gave a slight nod. “Thank you for today, Dr. Zhou. If my fiancée comes to see you, please keep today’s conversation confidential. Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. See you next time.”
“Mm, see you.”
Dr. Zhou watched Shen Su’s receding figure, momentarily dazed. She had a gut feeling that Shen Su really intended to remove her gland.
But why? If the goal was to completely resolve Single Pheromone Dependency Syndrome, one only needed to remove the patient’s gland. Why would Shen Su want to remove her own?
Dr. Zhou sat back in her office chair, twirling her pen thoughtfully. She thought for a long time but couldn’t make sense of it.
After leaving the hospital, Shen Su drove straight to the university. She remembered that Lu Yan should be in class at this time. She parked the car and, after turning off the engine, sent a message to Lu Yan: “I’m at the parking lot. Which classroom are you in?”
Lu Yan replied instantly: “Ah, I just got home! The teacher for this class didn’t show up. We sat there for ten minutes before the class rep told us to leave, so I came back on my own.”
Shen Su: “Then wait for me at home, be a good girl.”
Lu Yan replied with a custom-made tabby cat emoji with a big “Okay” written on it. Shen Su put down her phone and sighed. If she had known, she would have messaged her when leaving the hospital to avoid the wasted trip.
However, back at the hospital, she had been afraid Lu Yan would ask where she was—a question that was hard to answer. It was a stroke of bad luck that they missed each other. Shen Su restarted the car and drove out of the parking lot.
When she arrived home and opened the door, the sweet scent of cake greeted her.
Shen Su’s eyebrows lifted, and a smile curved her lips. She quickly changed into her slippers and walked briskly toward the dining area. “It smells so good! What delicious thing did my Yan Yan make that smells this heavenly?”
She saw a freshly demolded cake sitting upside down on baking parchment. Seeing Shen Su approach, Lu Yan unusually hid her hands behind her back instead of hugging her. “Sister, you’re back so fast! But just in time—the cake is done. Come try my handiwork!”
Shen Su glanced at Lu Yan’s hidden hands. “Alright, but first, show me your hands.”
Lu Yan pursed her lips and walked cautiously over to Shen Su, whispering, “I forgot to wear gloves when I took it out. It doesn’t hurt anymore.”
“Did you run it under water?” Shen Su circled Lu Yan’s wrist, inspecting it closely for a moment. “It’s okay, no blistering. It’s just a bit red. I remember there’s a first-aid kit under the coffee table in the living room with burn ointment. Let me apply some for you.”
Lu Yan followed Shen Su to get the kit, explaining softly, “I didn’t take it out as soon as the timer went off. I was playing with Mu Mu while waiting and suddenly remembered the cake must be ready, so I rushed to open the oven. That’s why I forgot the gloves. Plus, it’s my first time using an oven.”
Shen Su took out the ointment and pulled Lu Yan down onto the sofa, her movements gentle. “I’m not trying to scold you. You don’t need to be so cautious around me.”
Lu Yan pouted. “I was just afraid you’d think I’m stupid.”
She thought of her own parents, who always called her stupid, as if she were the worst child in the world who couldn’t do anything right and only caused trouble.
After applying the ointment, Shen Su put the kit away. After cleaning her hands, she gently tilted Lu Yan’s chin, saying thoughtfully, “How could I? Our Yan Yan is so smart; I can’t even associate the word ‘stupid’ with you.”
Lu Yan burrowed into Shen Su’s embrace. “That’s good.”
As she spoke, she used one hand to undo the first button of Shen Su’s shirt and pressed a kiss on the mole revealed there.
“Alright, you just got burned, let’s not play with fire,” Shen Su’s eyes flickered. Suppressing the surging emotions in her chest, she smiled and gently nudged Lu Yan’s head away.
Lu Yan rested her head against the crook of Shen Su’s neck. “Sister surely wouldn’t have the heart to let me get burned by fire, right?” After saying that, Lu Yan gave her a lick.
“Hiss…” Shen Su leaned back slightly, catching her breath, then smilingly tapped Lu Yan’s forehead. “You… you’re just relying on the fact that I like you, aren’t you?”
Lu Yan sat up from Shen Su, nodding righteously. “Exactly! I know Sister likes me, that’s why I dare to do whatever I want!”
Mu Mu followed up with a “Meow.”
Lu Yan added fuel to the fire, hooking her legs around Shen Su’s waist and saying with a giggle, “That’s what they mean by ‘the favored are always fearless’!”
Shen Su nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right. So let me see what it feels like to do whatever I want.”
The moment she finished speaking, Shen Su scooped her up in a princess carry. One of Lu Yan’s slippers fell onto the carpet, while the other hung half-off her foot, swaying precariously.
“Sister, what are you going to do to me? Mu Mu is still watching!” Lu Yan feigned shyness, burying her head in Shen Su’s chest while curling her toes.
With a patter, the second slipper fell at the bathroom door. Shen Su glanced back at it, kicked it a bit further away with her foot, and then closed the bathroom door.
Shen Su placed Lu Yan on the sink counter and said very seriously, “Helping you bathe. You just applied medicine, so it’s better not to get it wet. Be a good girl.”
“Okay, thank you, Sister,” Lu Yan said sweetly, shyly closing her eyes.
Her mind was already beginning to fantasize about all sorts of scenes in the bathroom.
