After Transmigrating as a Blade of Grass (GL) - Chapter 2
However, at a time like this, everyone tacitly agreed not to mention the matter of the annulment.
Elder Nanshan was well-acquainted with Zhai Wangyou. Under the prodding of the other disciples’ curiosity, his eldest disciple, Guan Lan, boldly asked, “Eldest Senior Sister, how did your cultivation recover?”
As soon as Guan Lan finished speaking, everyone’s eyes turned toward Zhai Wangyou. No one had ever heard of a shattered cultivation being restored; how on earth did the Eldest Senior Sister do it?
Zhai Wangyou’s gaze faltered. How did I recover?
She recalled the dream from last night. Her eyes flickered almost imperceptibly as she said calmly, “I am not sure how it happened myself. When I woke up this morning, it had simply recovered.”
Though everyone was curious, they didn’t press further. This was a life-saving secret; whether she shared it or not was entirely up to her. The disciples tactfully changed the subject.
As the sun dipped below the mountains and the last of the well-wishers were sent away, the courtyard finally fell silent.
Zhai Wangyou turned and headed back to her room, walking straight into the inner chamber. Beside the bed, her footsteps halted, a trace of complexity surfacing in her eyes.
But what must be faced must be faced.
She stepped forward. When she lifted the brocade quilt, her fingers still trembled uncontrollably.
Beneath the quilt, several spots of dried, dark red stained the snow-white sheets… as if proclaiming everything that had happened last night.
It was real. It wasn’t a dream!
No, it was a dream—a dream that had actually happened…
Zhai Wangyou took several unsteady steps back, an unidentifiable emotion flashing across her frost-like face.
With a wave of her hand, she replaced the sheets with clean ones and closed her eyes to check if there was anything amiss with her cultivation.
A moment later, Zhai Wangyou slowly opened her eyes. There was no abnormality; in fact, her cultivation had improved significantly. Her early-stage Golden Core showed signs of breaking through to the late stage.
Was it because of that… dream last night?
After a long period of contemplation, she stood up and went to the small medicinal field in the courtyard. She released her Divine Sense, covering every inch of the soil, but found nothing out of the ordinary.
Zhai Wangyou withdrew her Divine Sense. They were all just ordinary medicinal herbs. Had she overthought it?
She scanned the surroundings, her gaze finally landing on the small patch of Dream-Entry Grass.
Within that patch of grass, Xi Zhou was nervously holding her breath. She’d had a dream last night, and who knew that before she could even be refined into a Dream-Entry Pill, she had entered Zhai Wangyou’s dream.
Heaven knows what had possessed her in that dream. She had uncontrollably done… that… with Zhai Wangyou, and so many times!!
Good heavens, no one knows how shocked she was when she woke up.
It was like an out-of-body experience. She had been lying on a strange bed, and beside her pillow was Zhai Wangyou, with whom she had spent the entire night in a mess of passion.
So, it wasn’t a dream?
Or rather, was the dream world connected to reality?
The most unacceptable part was that before she could figure out how she had left her body, she was back inside this blade of grass.
Furthermore, the previously vibrant grass had now… wilted.
Xi Zhou wanted to cry but had no tears. She had turned into a withered blade of Dream-Entry Grass. Her leaves couldn’t stand up straight no matter what; she looked utterly devastated and beyond help.
Seeing that Zhai Wangyou hadn’t discovered anything and was turning to leave the field, the weight in Xi Zhou’s heart finally dropped. She shook her wilted leaves, feeling a surge of relief. Thank goodness I wasn’t caught.
Otherwise, the Eldest Senior Sister might have pulled her up by the roots to get rid of the evidence.
Still, the Eldest Senior Sister’s cultivation seemed to have recovered. This woman was too incredible; yesterday she looked like she was at death’s door, and in the dream she was doing this and that with her…
Yet today, she looked like nothing had happened at all, showing not a single trace of weakness.
Actually, she seemed to recover during the dream last night. At first, there was no response, but later her eyes grew moist, her red lips parted, and there were those stifled, delicate moans…
Xi Zhou shook her leaves violently. Can’t keep thinking about it! Ah—too sinful…
But… it seemed like it was the Eldest Senior Sister’s first time. Should I take responsibility?
Wait, no. She was a blade of grass right now. She couldn’t even speak, so how could she take responsibility? Better not overthink it.
Just then, the door suddenly opened again. Zhai Wangyou walked quickly back to the medicinal field, her gaze accurately locking onto a single, malnourished-looking blade of Dream-Entry Grass.
Xi Zhou immediately held her breath, but this time she didn’t escape. In the next second, she was pulled up by the roots.
Her previously wilted leaves instantly began to tremble wildly.
It’s over, it’s over! I’m caught!
Good heavens, she’s going to kill this grass…
Zhai Wangyou raised her hand, clutching the grass in mid-air, and said icily: “It’s you.”
The moment her hand touched this Dream-Entry Grass, her Inner Core actually felt an unusual stir.
Could it be that this grass had gained spiritual intelligence or even cultivated a human form? Thinking of the strange woman in her dream and the night-long encounter…
Zhai Wangyou pursed her lips, her eyes dark and unreadable.
This grass had helped her, assisted in repairing her Inner Core, and restored her cultivation, but it had also… to her…
The grass in her hand was still shaking its leaves as if struggling to deny everything.
Zhai Wangyou’s expression chilled. She turned and went back into the room, planting the Dream-Entry Grass into a flowerpot.
She looked at the wilted grass in the pot and opened her lips: “You can enter dreams and transform? Come see me now, and I may consider letting bygones be bygones.”
She had to find out exactly what happened last night. As for this grass—what kind of spirit was it? If it was a malicious entity…
A flash of hesitation crossed Zhai Wangyou’s eyes, which then turned into resolve.
If it were a malicious entity, she would eliminate it.
Xi Zhou wiggled her leaves left and right. I really can’t!
Heaven knows what happened last night. How would she know how to “enter dreams and transform”?
Zhai Wangyou reached out and pinched the swaying leaves, her tone laced with danger: “You are unwilling?”
Xi Zhou immediately stopped moving.
Good heavens, it’s not that I’m unwilling, I just don’t know how!
At this moment, she hated that she couldn’t speak. But if a blade of grass spoke, where would the mouth even be…
Picturing that scene, Xi Zhou shook her leaves. Never mind, that would be too creepy.
Seeing her shake her leaves again, Zhai Wangyou seemed to guess something. She asked coldly, “You cannot speak in human tongue?”
Xi Zhou reluctantly drooped her leaves up and down to agree with Zhai Wangyou’s words, while internally rolling her eyes. What do you mean “cannot speak in human tongue”? I WAS a human, okay?
Seeing the leaves droop as if nodding in response, a look of inquiry appeared in Zhai Wangyou’s eyes: “Then enter my dream now. I will ask you then, and you only need to nod or shake your head.”
To her surprise, the grass in the pot began to shake its leaves frantically from left to right.
Seeing that Zhai Wangyou’s attitude was still somewhat moderate, Xi Zhou grew a bit bolder and shook her leaves like crazy: Eldest Senior Sister, it’s not that I don’t want to, I literally cannot do it.
Zhai Wangyou stared at the swaying leaves, her voice turning cold: “You do not want to enter my dream?”
The leaves paused for a second, then continued to shake left and right.
Zhai Wangyou’s gaze flickered. “You want to enter the dream?”
The shaking stopped. Total silence.
Xi Zhou froze. No, don’t talk nonsense, I don’t want to.
“You cannot enter the dream?” Zhai Wangyou asked, catching onto the possibility, her tone uncertain.
The leaves of the Dream-Entry Grass shivered and immediately began drooping up and down.
Xi Zhou cheered internally. Eldest Senior Sister is brilliant! I really can’t do it.
“Then how did you enter the dream last night?”
Zhai Wangyou stared at the leaves, her tone neither cold nor warm. Was this grass playing tricks on her? Otherwise, what was that absurd dream last night all about?
Xi Zhou went completely still. She wanted to know too! If she figured it out, maybe she’d have a chance to become human again in this lifetime. Being a blade of grass that could be plucked for medicine at any moment was just too depressing.
Zhai Wangyou pursed her lips in silence. Should she believe this grass?
She stood up and brought half a bowl of water. After a pause, she injected some spiritual energy into it.
This grass looked quite wilted; perhaps it needed to be properly nurtured.
Her long, fair fingers dipped into the water, and she sprinkled the droplets evenly into the pot.
Xi Zhou was about to shake her leaves to say she wasn’t thirsty, but then she felt a wave of comfort from the inside out.
She immediately changed her movement and started drooping her leaves up and down.
Zhai Wangyou’s fingers paused. “Very thirsty?”
Xi Zhou hesitated, then drooped her leaves. I guess so.
Seeing this, Zhai Wangyou moved to pour the rest of the water directly into the pot. But seeing the delicate, wilted leaves, she steadied the bowl and continued to use her other hand to dip and sprinkle carefully.
It seemed she needed to find a watering can.
Once the half-bowl of water was finished, the Dream-Entry Grass in the pot recovered at a speed visible to the naked eye. It turned a vibrant green, with no trace of its previous withered state.
Xi Zhou discovered to her surprise that her leaves could stand up straight again.
She immediately started drooping up and down again, signaling: I want more, still thirsty!
