After Transmigrating as a Scum Alpha, a Cold Omega Stole My Heart - Chapter 2
Dim lighting, a body burning with unbearable heat, the suffocating stench of pheromones, and a disgusting sound of heavy breathing. A young girl struggled in the darkness, screaming to escape the person looming over her, but her heat cycle had left her limbs weak. Finally, she was pinned to the ground.
Her glands were pierced, and a nauseating mix of pheromones was injected. Instead of the expected comfort, she was flooded with agony. Her resistance was futile. In the end, her glands were bitten until they were bloody and mangled, leaving her sprawled on the bed like a broken doll.
“No… let me go… let me go…” In the room next door, the girl lying on the bed had her brows furrowed tight. Her naturally pink lips were now pale, and she sobbed uncontrollably. Tears seeped from the corners of her eyes—a sight so tragic it would break anyone’s heart.
After an unknown amount of time, the girl’s eyes snapped open. Tears blurred her vision. She squeezed her eyes shut and opened them again, bracing herself for a cruel reality. But… the ceiling was familiar. Her body… didn’t hurt?
Forcing her stiff, post-heat body upright, the girl pulled back the covers. She checked her intact body and touched the back of her neck. The small protrusion representing her gland was still slightly red and swollen, but there were no marks of a permanent bond. This realization filled her with both shock and confusion.
“I wasn’t marked?” It wasn’t supposed to be like this… had something changed?
The girl couldn’t help but recall the scenes that occurred while her consciousness was hazy. Xie Shuyun… Just thinking of the name brought a look of pure loathing to her face. She didn’t believe for a second that the other woman had good intentions. In the four years since she had arrived at the Xie household, Xie Shuyun had targeted her at every turn. She was likely planning something even worse now.
The girl took several deep breaths. her dark pupils were like whirlpools, swallowing all her emotions until only a cold calm remained.
Supporting herself against the bed, she walked slowly to her desk and opened a drawer. From the corner, she pulled out a small notebook that had clearly been flipped through many times. She had a habit of recording everything she endured. Even though she didn’t want to believe it, she recorded Xie Shuyun’s strange behavior today.
As she finished writing and closed the notebook, three words written in elegant, flowing calligraphy could be seen on the cover: Cheng Lingxue.
Xie Shuyun sat at the dining table, already changed and waiting. Even though the original owner’s father (mother) was returning, she didn’t feel the need to dress formally, so she had come down in casual home clothes.
Looking at the steaming, high-end dishes—which would have made her eyes light up and scream with joy in her past life—she found she had no appetite at all.
I wonder if that girl will come down… With that thought, Xie Shuyun’s eyes kept drifting toward the stairs.
In the nearby kitchen, several pairs of eyes were peeking at Xie Shuyun as she sat dazed at the table, resting her chin on her hand.
One had to praise the original owner’s looks. Her melancholy expression didn’t seem gloomy; instead, because of her eyes, it made people feel as though she were troubled by love. A single glance was enough to make one’s heart ache for her.
The young maids watching her felt exactly this way. Their eyes were full of admiration as they whispered:
“What’s wrong with the Eldest Miss? She’s usually so happy when the Master comes home.”
“It’s probably Miss Cheng making her angry again. Honestly, the Eldest Miss is an SS-rank Alpha; isn’t it a perfect match for an SS-rank Omega like her?”
“Exactly. She’s just an adopted daughter. She doesn’t know how lucky she is that the Eldest Miss likes her…”
“What are you all doing?” The woman in the suit frowned at them, her voice cold and sharp. “Stop gossiping and get back to your posts.”
“Yes… Yes!”
“We’re sorry!”
The commotion caught Xie Shuyun’s attention. She turned her head in confusion and saw the suited woman from earlier. Comparing her to the memories of the book, if she really had transmigrated, this person should be the Xie family butler—a very capable female Beta named Qin Yu.
In the ABO world, besides male and female, there are three genders: Alpha, Beta, and Omega. These manifest around the age of sixteen. Alphas and Omegas lead society; Alphas are aggressive and competitive, while Omegas are meticulous and good at leadership. Betas fall in between and make up the largest portion of the population.
“Eldest Miss, the Head of the Family just called. She will arrive in ten minutes.”
“Okay, I see…” Just as she spoke, Xie Shuyun’s sharp ears caught the sound of footsteps. she turned her head and saw the girl slowly coming downstairs.
The girl had tidied herself up. Her face was bare of makeup, her hair pulled back into a simple ponytail, and she wore a white dress. There was no trace of the disheveled state she had been in earlier.
Her calm, expressionless eyes swept over Xie Shuyun. Without the previous loathing, she walked past Xie Shuyun with an air of indifference.
Xie Shuyun caught a faint scent of coconut milk. Looking closer, she noticed the girl’s cheeks still held a faint flush. It seemed a single shot of suppressor couldn’t perfectly suppress the heat cycle.
Xie Shuyun was debating whether to tell her to go back and rest, but the front door opened. A woman who looked 80% similar to Xie Shuyun’s current body walked in. She looked to be under forty and was extremely well-preserved.
Looking at the woman’s face, Xie Shuyun felt a strange sensation. Blurry images flashed through her mind, and her head throbbed. An indescribable feeling welled up inside her, leaving her mouth slightly open but unable to speak.
Although the woman couldn’t hide her exhaustion, she broke into a joyful smile upon seeing the two children waiting for her:
“Xiao Yun, Lingxue, sorry to keep you waiting.”
Her words made Xie Shuyun’s body stiffen. The heavy feeling inside her instantly vanished, replaced by a single thought spinning in her mind.
Miss Cheng… Lingxue… Cheng Lingxue! She wouldn’t forget that name if her life depended on it—it was exactly the name of the female lead. Xie Shuyun, who had been holding onto a sliver of hope, felt her heart shatter.
“Not at all. You’ve worked hard, Auntie Xie.” The girl—no, Cheng Lingxue—looked at the woman with a slight curve of her lips. Her eyes held deep respect, and her voice was clear and cold—pleasant to the ear, but with a certain sense of distance.
“Thank you, Lingxue…” Xie Yun (the mother) moved to pat Cheng Lingxue’s head but stopped herself before touching her. She looked her up and down. “Take care of your health. Don’t push yourself if you feel unwell.”
“Yes, thank you for your concern, Auntie Xie.” After speaking, Cheng Lingxue lowered her head. Xie Yun’s attention then turned to Xie Shuyun, who was silent and whose expression was shifting rapidly.
“Xiao Yun, what’s wrong?”
“Ah, nothing. You’ve worked hard, Mother. Welcome home.” Xie Shuyun suppressed her internal breakdown and flashed a smile at Xie Yun. Before the maid could move, she stood up and pulled out the chair for her mother.
Xie Yun’s eyes flashed with surprise at the gesture, but also a hint of nostalgia. She reached out and patted Xie Shuyun’s head, smiling. “Thank you, Xiao Yun. You’re so thoughtful today. Did something good happen?”
“It’s nothing. You must be hungry, Mother. Let’s eat.” Xie Shuyun knew when to stop. In the book, the Scum Alpha was moody and unpredictable; she didn’t know what consequences a massive change in personality would bring.
As she thought, Xie Shuyun’s gaze drifted to Cheng Lingxue. She could feel that the girl’s attitude toward Xie Yun versus herself was like the difference between heaven and earth.
But considering the bastard things the original owner had done in the book, this treatment wasn’t surprising.
For the sake of my future, should I try to save my image in Cheng Lingxue’s heart while I still have time?
The more Xie Shuyun thought about it, the more feasible it seemed. After dinner, she hurried upstairs to plot her “Favorability Campaign,” while Cheng Lingxue sat for a while longer before retiring to her room.
Watching the stairs, Xie Yun took a sip of tea and sighed. She spoke to the Beta butler beside her:
“Qin Yu, keep a close eye on them during this time. Lingxue is a good child, but Xiao Yun… she’s been spoiled by me.”
“The Eldest Miss will grow up. Please rest easy, Head of the Family.” In the past, Qin Yu wouldn’t have believed Xie Shuyun would ever change. But remembering what happened earlier… the Young Mistress seemed a little different now?
The next morning, Xie Shuyun felt light-headed and wobbly as she walked to the breakfast table. She was wearing a pressed, exquisite uniform of an elite noble school. She never expected that on her second day of transmigration, she’d have to go to school—and start from high school at that. The thought was despair-inducing.
Breakfast was lavish, featuring both Chinese and Western styles. Xie Shuyun wasn’t picky and began to eat. Halfway through, she felt something was wrong. Why hadn’t Cheng Lingxue come down for breakfast?
Just as she was about to ask, she caught that familiar coconut milk scent again. She turned her head to say hello, only for Cheng Lingxue to brush past her, leaving Xie Shuyun’s words stuck in her throat.
However, Cheng Lingxue’s outfit was a sight to behold. The noble school uniforms had a specific style but allowed for individual pairing. Xie Shuyun preferred trousers, while Cheng Lingxue wore a skirt. The deep blue blazer paired with a snow-white shirt, a red tie at the collar, a short skirt hitting just above the knee, and black silk stockings made her look both vibrant and exceptionally beautiful.
But before she could finish admiring the view, she saw that Cheng Lingxue wasn’t stopping. She went straight to the entryway, put on her sneakers, and prepared to leave. In a panic, Xie Shuyun stood up abruptly. She was too hasty, causing the table to shake and the dishes to clatter loudly.
The noise finally drew Cheng Lingxue’s attention. She looked over expressionlessly, her eyes clearly saying, “What kind of trick are you playing now?”
Xie Shuyun took a deep breath and pointed at the food on the table. “You haven’t eaten breakfast yet. Why are you leaving already?”
