After Transmigrating as a Scumbag Alpha, I Ended Up with the Movie Queen - Chapter 5
Seeing Gu Nan’s serious expression, Gu Tiansheng teased her with a smile.
“What is it? Are you about to announce that you have a girlfriend?”
Yin Yuehua also let her teasing gaze wander back and forth between Gu Nan and Shen Zhibei.
Gu Nan took a deep breath. “I want to marry Shen Zhibei.”
“So sudden?”
Yin Yuehua wasn’t against her daughter getting married, but she felt it was too abrupt. Her daughter and Miss Shen had likely only known each other for a short time. Marrying without understanding each other could easily lead to conflicts down the road.
“It is indeed a bit sudden,” Gu Tiansheng echoed her wife’s words. “I know you young people are in the heat of passion and want to rush into marriage. But marriage is a sacred thing. I think it would be better if you spent more time together before stepping into the hall of matrimony.”
The 36-year-old Shen Zhibei, who was being forced into the categories of “young person” and “heat of passion”: “……”
Gu Nan glanced at Shen Zhibei and forced herself to speak. “Because… I did something wrong yesterday. I almost marked her. The paparazzi already know about it, so I need to take responsibility.”
Gu Tiansheng and Yin Yuehua: “???”
“What did you just say?” Gu Tiansheng picked at her ear, doubting she had heard correctly.
“I said, I did something wrong yesterday and almost marked her. The paparazzi know, and I need to take responsibility!” Gu Nan closed her eyes and repeated it loudly.
The dining table fell into a deathly silence.
“You scoundrel!”
Gu Tiansheng slammed the table, stepped in front of Gu Nan, and delivered a backhand slap. The force was so great it sent Gu Nan flying off her chair and onto the floor.
Although Yin Yuehua’s heart ached, she didn’t stop her wife from disciplining their daughter. She also felt that what Gu Nan had done was far beyond the line.
“Kneel.”
Gu Nan clutched her face, crawled up from the floor, and knelt obediently.
“How did I teach you?” Gu Tiansheng’s expression was terrifyingly dark. “Did I or did I not tell you what a marking means to an Omega?”
Gu Nan said nothing. She didn’t have all of the original owner’s memories, and she couldn’t explain that she wasn’t the one who did it. In everyone’s eyes, she was the original owner. Besides, Shen Zhibei was the one truly wronged; only by doing this could she show Shen Zhibei that she was different from the “old” Gu Nan and reduce her hostility.
Seeing her daughter’s silent, bowed head, a flash of anger crossed Gu Tiansheng’s eyes. “Go kneel in front of Miss Shen. It’s not our forgiveness you need—it’s hers.”
Gu Nan shuffled on her knees to Shen Zhibei and said loudly, “I’m sorry. It’s all my fault. Please forgive me. I will treat you well from now on.”
Because her cheek had begun to swell rapidly, her voice was a bit muffled.
Yin Yuehua stepped forward, ignoring the kneeling Gu Nan entirely. She spoke sincerely to Shen Zhibei, “Miss Shen, it is our failure in parenting that caused you such grievance. Tell us how you wish to punish her; Tiansheng and I will not say a word against it. Whatever requests you have, feel free to voice them.”
As a fellow Omega, Yin Yuehua understood all too well what a forced marking entailed.
Facing the gentle Yin Yuehua, Shen Zhibei was reminded of her own father, and the hateful words she had prepared died in her throat. Moreover… she looked at Gu Nan with a complex gaze. She didn’t understand why this woman acted like a completely different person.
The family’s reaction had also exceeded her expectations. Gu Nan had actually confessed her ugly deeds to her parents? And her parents had no intention of covering for her, leaving her fate entirely in the victim’s hands?
If this was an act, the price was certainly high. Her eyes swept over Gu Nan’s badly swollen cheek.
Ding Ziyan stayed silent, letting Shen Zhibei make the decision. At 36, Shen Zhibei was no longer a young girl who put pride above all else; she would make the decision that best served her interests.
After a long silence, she finally spoke.
“I will marry Gu Nan. But I hope you won’t restrict my career. I truly love acting.”
“That is naturally not a problem. I happen to love your acting, Miss Shen. Even after marriage, an Omega should have their own career.”
Yin Yuehua, the chief designer of Yuesheng Jewelry under the Gu Group, naturally saw nothing wrong with that. “What do you say?” she asked, looking down at the kneeling Gu Nan.
“The resources of Chengxin Media will be completely prioritized for Miss Shen,” Gu Nan said through her swollen face. It hurt so much she could barely open her mouth.
“Very good. If the resources go to Miss Shen, you’ll act less. It’ll save Tiansheng and me from having to struggle to find something to praise when we watch your films,” Yin Yuehua quipped.
“Mom, you really are my biological mother,” Gu Nan said, speechless.
“If I weren’t, that would have been a ‘mixed doubles’ beating just now,” Yin Yuehua pinched Gu Nan’s swollen cheek. “Does it still hurt? If it does, talk less.”
“Ow!” This time, Gu Nan actually teared up from the pain.
Gu Tiansheng acted as if she hadn’t seen it and continued, “Does Miss Shen have any other requests?”
“Aside from my heat periods, I hope Gu Nan will not touch me without my permission.” Shen Zhibei voiced this condition with some difficulty. She knew it was a tall order—after marriage, she would be Gu Nan’s wife. Asking an Alpha not to touch her was technically “unreasonable.”
“Deal.”
Shen Zhibei hadn’t expected Gu Nan to agree so readily. Gu Nan had used such despicable means to get her, yet now she was being so agreeable? Shen Zhibei suspected she was just saying what she wanted to hear, waiting until after the wedding to do as she pleased.
She bit her lip, not letting herself spiral into that thought, and stated her final request: “Lastly, I hope Gu Nan can go to the hospital and get her brain checked properly.”
The Gu Family: “……”
Are you saying I (my daughter) is crazy?!
The two mothers looked down at the equally shocked Gu Nan. Then again, anyone who could do what she did probably was a bit “off” in the head and needed a check-up.
“Are these your only requests?” Gu Tiansheng confirmed. “No specific punishment for Gu Nan?”
“Yes, only these.” Shen Zhibei lowered her eyelids. She wanted to see if the Gu couple would truly do nothing if she didn’t ask.
“Thank you, Miss Shen. You are truly a kind person.”
Gu Tiansheng thanked her first, then grabbed the wooden chair next to her and smashed it directly across Gu Nan’s back.
Gu Nan let out a muffled groan and collapsed to the floor. Shen Zhibei and Ding Ziyan, not expecting this, cried out in shock.
“This is to make you remember. Miss Shen didn’t punish you out of respect for your mothers, not because she forgave what you did. Do you understand?”
“I understand,” Gu Nan’s voice was muffled and raspy as her face pressed into the floor.
Yin Yuehua calmly comforted the two startled guests. “Don’t worry. Whenever Baby made a mistake, Tiansheng disciplined her like this. It’s just that she went too far this time, so it’s a bit more intense.”
Gu Tiansheng then pulled a thick leg from the shattered chair and began to lash Gu Nan’s back. Gu Nan didn’t dare dodge; she lay there taking the hits, only letting out low groans of pain.
Yin Yuehua waved for Uncle Quan to recall the private doctor, then invited Shen Zhibei and Ding Ziyan to eat before the food got cold. The two guests looked at each other, wishing they could change the third condition to have the whole family’s brains checked.
The punishment ended when the chair leg snapped. An unconscious Gu Nan was carried back to her room, followed by the doctor.
Gu Tiansheng sat down and ate to replenish her strength before looking at Shen Zhibei.
“Miss Shen, you are free to go as you please. However, it’s late. I hope you’ll consider your health and stay here for the night with your manager instead of forcing yourself to go home.”
“Thank you, Director Gu. We’ll be in your care tonight,” Shen Zhibei said, gripping Ding Ziyan’s hand.
“It was caused by our fault; how can you call it an intrusion?” Yin Yuehua noticed Shen Zhibei hadn’t eaten much and used the serving chopsticks to give her some light vegetables. “Can I call you Zhibei? When can Tiansheng and I meet your parents to discuss the wedding?”
While the four in the dining room were in a relatively pleasant atmosphere, the unconscious Gu Nan was not.
She was having a strange dream—or perhaps a memory. A dark silhouette identical to her was being pinned down by two other dark silhouettes while a fourth figure read out a list of crimes.
“The Shadow unauthorizedly replaced the Original and harmed the Original for 16 years. The charges are proven. Arrest her.”
“Why should the Shadow have to watch the Original enjoy everything in the world? I refuse! I refuse!” the dark “Gu Nan” screamed, but she was dragged away.
“What is happening?” Gu Nan murmured.
The figure reading the charges seemed to hear her and floated over. Their face was blurred, but the voice was clear.
“We waited a long time for you to fall asleep so we could pull you into the Shadow World to witness this trial. She was your shadow. For some reason, she awakened in the Surface World, threw you into another world, and replaced you for 16 years.”
“What… do you mean?” Gu Nan asked, trembling.
“It means you are her, and she is you,” the figure laughed. “The trial is over. You should return to your world. Have a pleasant life.”
As the figure spoke, the fog cleared. Gu Nan jolted awake from the dream.
She rolled over to sit up, but her back hit the mattress, screaming in pain. She let out a muffled groan and flopped back down.
Shen Zhibei, who had been leaning over the bed looking at her, was startled by the sudden movement and fell backward onto the floor.
Gu Nan: “!!!”
