After Transmigrating as a Scumbag Alpha, I Ended Up with the Movie Queen - Chapter 7
Thanks to the fact that an Alpha’s recovery speed is top-tier, Gu Nan woke up quickly.
As she opened her eyes, she caught a blurry glimpse of someone sitting not far away, hooked up to an IV drip. She went to rub her eyes, only to realize that she was also on a drip.
Her consciousness gradually cleared, and she saw that the person sitting nearby was Shen Zhibei.
Shouldn’t Shen Zhibei want to be as far away from me as possible? How could she be sitting right by my bed getting an IV?
Gu Nan immediately grew wary, sensing that something was amiss. “Why are you in my room?”
Shen Zhibei didn’t answer. Instead, she pulled up some photos on her phone and thrust them in front of Gu Nan’s eyes.
Gu Nan looked down. In the photos, she was lying facedown on the bed, her cheek swollen, her face flushed red with fever, and her hair tied into several tiny, ridiculous pigtails.
Gu Nan’s pupils dilated in shock. She reached out to grab Shen Zhibei’s phone. Although Shen Zhibei tried to pull back, she was a step too slow. Gu Nan snatched the phone and immediately began deleting the photos.
For a moment, Shen Zhibei wanted to snatch it back, but then she remembered that Yin Yuehua had plenty more on her own phone. If she just asked, she could get them easily, so she didn’t let it bother her.
“How did you take so many?!” Gu Nan frowned, enduring the pain in her back as she scrolled through the folder labeled “Blackmail Photos,” deleting them one by one.
“Oh, so you finally know the pain of having shameful photos taken,” Shen Zhibei said frostily. “Then why did you take… those kinds of photos of me?”
I wasn’t the one who took them.
Gu Nan couldn’t explain that, so she selectively ignored the question and teased instead, “Did you do these pigtails? I didn’t realize you were so childlike.”
“It was your mother. And deleting the photos on my phone is useless; Auntie Gu and Auntie Yin have plenty more on theirs,” Shen Zhibei said with a faint smile. “By the way, I forgot to tell you. Both of them found out about you using an induction agent on me. They’re currently preparing a ‘mixed doubles’ beating for you.”
Gu Nan: “!!!”
What kind of misery is this? She should have confessed everything yesterday instead of leaving such a massive trap for herself. Now, another beating was coming.
Despair washed over her, but seeing the faint smile on Shen Zhibei’s face, Gu Nan could only sigh. The original “bitter flesh” strategy (self-sacrifice to gain sympathy) was meant to put Shen Zhibei at ease; now the sacrifice was just being doubled.
At least it might make Shen Zhibei less afraid of her. If being beaten twice could stop the woman from guarding against her like a wolf, it was a bargain. After all, she was an Alpha with an elite recovery rate. She had been beaten unconscious yesterday, yet here she was, almost able to get out of bed today.
Gu Nan tried to find humor in her suffering. “I can see that me getting thrashed really makes you happy.” She finished deleting everything and handed the phone back.
“Yes, I am exceptionally happy.” Taking the phone back, Shen Zhibei’s smile grew even more brilliant.
“Well, as long as you’re happy.” Gu Nan replied listlessly. Seeing that her IV was almost empty, she pulled the needle out herself and climbed out of bed with difficulty. “Then I’ll go receive my punishment.”
Watching Gu Nan’s dejected figure leave the room, Shen Zhibei’s smile slowly faded. Honestly, Gu Nan’s behavior over the last two days hadn’t been that bad—she seemed like a completely different person compared to that night.
The thought had barely formed before Shen Zhibei stopped herself. How could someone change their nature overnight? Gu Nan was likely just putting on an act in front of her mothers because she knew she couldn’t escape. How could she be so easily moved by this piece of trash?
Despite her resolve, a doubt remained: If Gu Nan is just acting, why did she confess everything to her parents? Why wouldn’t she threaten me into lying with her instead?
This question left a ripple in Shen Zhibei’s heart. If Gu Nan knew, she would probably cry tears of joy—her “bitter flesh” strategy was finally showing results!
Unaware of this, a very miserable Gu Nan went to her mothers’ room to accept her second “lesson in love.”
Knock, knock, knock.
“Come in,” Gu Tiansheng’s voice rang out.
Gu Nan pushed the door open and steeled herself. “Mother, Mom.”
Gu Tiansheng and Yin Yuehua were both staring at their phones, deep in thought. Yin Yuehua shot her a cold look and said, “Close the door.”
“Oh.” Gu Nan’s heart turned to ice as she slowly shut the door to her only exit.
“Let’s talk. How did you get that induction agent?” Gu Tiansheng looked up, her gaze sharp as a blade.
Gu Nan couldn’t talk about it because she didn’t know where her “shadow” had sourced it. She could only tell the truth: “I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?” Gu Tiansheng’s brow furrowed. “Do you not know, or do you not want to say?”
“I really don’t know,” Gu Nan said, her face pained. “When I woke up that morning, Miss Shen was already in my arms.”
Gu Tiansheng tapped the desk, her expression darkening. “Are you implying you were framed?”
“I don’t know, but things felt… strange that night.” Gu Nan’s expression was even more bitter. The memories were blurry and contained conflicting actions; she truly didn’t know the specifics of how the “shadow” had drugged her.
Gu Tiansheng’s tapping stopped, and her face became contorted with rage. “I think you’re just asking for a beating!”
She had wanted to solve the mystery of the drug, but Gu Nan’s nonsensical answers were infuriating. You don’t know if you drugged her? If you did nothing, how did she end up in your bed?!
Yin Yuehua had already set down her phone and silently handed one of two baseball bats to Gu Tiansheng. Gu Nan’s heart skipped a beat. There was no escape.
“Kneel!”
This is the end of me, Gu Nan thought as the world went dark.
After the unconscious Gu Nan was sent back to her room again, Gu Tiansheng picked up her phone. The screen showed the “Big Eye” social media interface (Weibo). Several marketing accounts were spreading rumors about Gu Nan and Shen Zhibei. On the hot search list, a tag with both their names was being suppressed.
“There’s definitely something wrong.” Gu Tiansheng slammed the phone face-down on the table.
Yin Yuehua was calmer. “I called Assistant Jin earlier. He said Baby brought Zhibei straight home without encountering anyone, let alone reporters. Yet the rumors online are extremely detailed and match everything that happened.”
“The hot search too—Chengxin Media hasn’t tried to suppress it, yet the data looks like it’s being throttled. Someone clearly knows we don’t follow entertainment news and won’t help, so they’re doing this on purpose. The goal is to ruin Baby and Zhibei’s reputations—or one of them, with the other as collateral.”
“Even if she was framed, she deserves it!” Gu Tiansheng’s anger hadn’t subsided. “Did she not do the deed herself? Is this how I raised her?!”
“Fine, losing your temper won’t help. We need to watch Baby’s mental state more closely. The priority is finding the person behind the scenes, or this will happen again,” Yin Yuehua said, stroking her wife’s back.
Gu Tiansheng knew she was right. “I’ll call my secretary and have the movements of Nannan’s three assistants investigated. Someone close to her must be involved.”
After the call, she took a sip of cold tea. “I hope she remembers these two beatings and settles down to live a good life with Zhibei.”
“Well, we have to foster their feelings first.” Yin Yuehua sat next to her and showed her a screen. “I looked into it, and this variety show is said to be great for building relationships. They were already planning to sign Zhibei during the investment stage. We’ll sponsor it, and once they’ve both recovered, we’ll send them there to bond. What do you think?”
Gu Tiansheng looked at the chat window on the phone. It was labeled: “President of the Shen Zhibei Fan Club.” The chat contained leaked guest lists and investment plans.
She looked at her wife in disbelief. “I thought you were just being polite yesterday when you said you liked her acting. I didn’t realize you were friends with her Fan Club President.”
“When Yuesheng Jewelry signed her as a brand ambassador, I wanted to learn about her work. The president added me on social media to give recommendations, so I accepted.”
Yin Yuehua paused, narrowing her eyes. “Wait… you thought I was just being polite?”
Realizing she had misspoken, Gu Tiansheng quickly tried to backtrack. “No, no, I just said it randomly!”
Yin Yuehua wasn’t having it. “You don’t pay attention to me at all! You don’t even know what movies or TV shows I like!”
“I do! Your favorite is Red Tassel, isn’t it?”
“Then tell me: who is the lead actress?” Yin Yuehua stared at her as Gu Tiansheng fell silent. “As expected, you don’t care about me.”
She threw off Gu Tiansheng’s arm and stormed into the bedroom.
The domineering CEO was suddenly left in a cold sweat, facing a major domestic crisis.
