After Transmigrating as a Scumbag Alpha, I Was Pampered by a Paranoid Omega - Chapter 5
The air conditioning hummed steadily. After resting for a while, Bai Manruo curled up on the sofa to check her phone.
She thought that after a day, the online buzz would have died down, but to her surprise, netizens were still discussing her.
Bai Manruo opened WeChat to see if anyone with a conscience was willing to lend her money. Suddenly, a small red dot popped up—a friend request.
Her first instinct was that the original owner owed someone money and this was a debt collector. Otherwise, how could there be only two hundred yuan left in the card?
After hesitating for two seconds, she hit “Decline.” It wasn’t that she didn’t want to pay it back, but she literally only had two hundred yuan to her name. She’d pay them back as soon as she got her wages.
A moment later, another red dot appeared. It was the same avatar requesting to add her again.
Seeing such persistence, Bai Manruo had no choice but to agree. Before she could even type a polite greeting, a message flashed on the screen:
【Hello, Miss Bai. I am the director of “National First Love.” We saw your photos online and were wondering if you would be interested in participating in our show.】
A director? A show invitation?
Bai Manruo let out a sigh of relief. Not a debt collector.
She truly hadn’t expected yesterday’s “black search” scandal to result in a show invitation.
“‘National First Love’… recruiting high-quality single Alphas and Omegas to spend two days and one night together in a cottage…”
Bai Manruo read the introduction sent to her. To be honest, she wasn’t particularly interested in dating.
But the moment she saw the appearance fee, she admitted her heart skipped a beat!
Three million yuan just for staying two days and one night? That’s three million! Her goal of buying back her “deed of sale” was finally within reach!
She gripped her phone in excitement for a moment before suddenly freezing. She sat back down and sighed.
She had been so happy she’d forgotten she had no freedom of choice. There was no way Butler Li would agree to her skipping work for two days.
But Bai Manruo didn’t want to give up such a golden opportunity. She planned to negotiate with Butler Li; maybe there was a chance.
After considering it, she typed back: 【Director, I will give you an answer tomorrow.】
With that settled, all that was left was to wait for nightfall to catch her intruder.
However, Bai Manruo still had no idea that the entire castle belonged to the “intruder.” Ji Yingqing was watching her elaborate trap through the surveillance cameras with perfect clarity.
Ji Yingqing’s physical condition only became severe for two random days each month; once those two nights passed, she didn’t strictly need to go to Bai Manruo’s room.
But since the girl was looking forward to her arrival so much… Ji Yingqing shifted her gaze to the person on the screen, who was lazily lying on the sofa playing with her phone.
Ji Yingqing’s black pupils looked even deeper against her near-pale complexion, like dark, bottomless whirlpools that made people afraid to look her in the eye.
Seeing the person on the sofa so relaxed, comfortably crossing her legs, an image suddenly flashed in Ji Yingqing’s mind: the girl who had trembled while clutching her hand in the dark.
The corners of Ji Yingqing’s mouth curled slightly. She reached out a slender finger and poked the person on the screen.
Well then, I shouldn’t let her down.
Butler Li, sitting in the front seat, happened to look up and catch this scene. Even with her professional training and poker face, seeing the smile on the Young Mistress’s face—even an almost imperceptible one—made her eyes widen in shock.
Who on earth could actually make the Young Mistress smile?
It was past 11:00 PM. Bai Manruo was hiding behind the door, yawning while forcing her eyelids to stay open.
She had been waiting since 10:00 PM, and after over an hour, there was still no sign of anyone.
Bai Manruo crouched down and leaned against the wall. She stifled a yawn and thought to herself: Maybe they aren’t coming tonight?
The more she thought about it, the more likely it seemed. They had bumped into each other on the third floor at noon and she’d almost caught them; surely they wouldn’t walk straight into a trap tonight.
Ten more minutes. If they don’t show, I’m going to sleep.
Time ticked away. Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. The drowsy Bai Manruo snapped awake instantly and scrambled to her position behind the door.
She held her breath, waiting for the person outside to enter. The thought of the intruder getting soaked like a drowned rat made her want to laugh.
The room was pitch black. When Bai Manruo saw a silhouette half-way through the door, she frowned and glanced regretfully at the door frame.
What’s going on? Why are they inside but the water hasn’t fallen?
But she didn’t have time to overthink. Seeing the person enter, Bai Manruo lunged forward to grab them.
At that exact moment—SPLASH!—the basin of cold water on the door frame dumped directly onto Bai Manruo from head to toe.
“So cold!” Bai Manruo instinctively jumped away, but she was already soaked to the bone.
She was wearing the uniform issued by Butler Li. Her white shirt was drenched and clung to her skin, revealing the light pink underwear beneath. Her jet-black hair was plastered to her chest, the tips dripping. Her curled lashes were wet, and beads of water hung from her rosy lips.
Even though the water made her eyes sting, she didn’t forget her mission.
The moment the water hit her, she lunged forward without hesitation. To prevent the person from escaping, she wrapped her arms and legs tightly around them like a vine.
Ji Yingqing clearly hadn’t expected her to be so committed to catching someone after being doused with cold water, and she was caught off guard, knocked down onto the floor.
The person pressing down on her was covered in water, her soft, delicate skin pressing firmly against her.
Ji Yingqing frowned, trying to ignore the slick, smooth sensation, but she couldn’t peel the girl off her. Her own clothes were getting soaked too. A hint of helplessness crossed Ji Yingqing’s face; this was not how she had envisioned this going.
Bai Manruo didn’t care about wet clothes. If she could catch the intruder, she’d be willing to get soaked ten thousand times.
“You aren’t getting away this time,” Bai Manruo chuckled triumphantly, hugging her tighter.
Because she was holding her so close, the hot breath from her words tickled Ji Yingqing’s ear. Water continued to drip from the tips of Bai Manruo’s hair, sliding down her cheek and onto her lips before finally falling onto Ji Yingqing’s face.
The repeated, cold droplets on her skin made Ji Yingqing frown. She tried to shift her position, but the person on top of her immediately squeezed harder, thinking she was trying to flee.
Ji Yingqing sighed helplessly and turned her head, intending to tell her she wouldn’t run.
Suddenly, her lips met something soft. A droplet of water hanging from the peak of a lip fell between them.
Her lips felt itchy, and Bai Manruo subconsciously stuck out her tongue to lick the water droplet away, accidentally brushing against the other woman’s lips.
Ji Yingqing’s deep black eyes flickered. In the quiet air, a cool, magnetic voice rang out:
“Do you know what you just did?”
“I was just getting the water off my lip…” Before she could finish, Bai Manruo’s body stiffened. Her rosy lips were suddenly bitten.
“Why did you bite me?”
Bai Manruo was startled by the bite. She still hadn’t seen the person’s face; although she was sure they were human, she was still panicking. It wasn’t until she regained her senses that she realized… she had just kissed the other person’s mouth.
At this moment, Bai Manruo wanted to find a shoulder to hide behind; she was too embarrassed to face anyone. Her imagination had run so wild she’d actually feared the person beneath her was a blood-sucking ghost.
Then she realized she was pressing down on the person, and the shoulder she wanted to hide in belonged to them, too.
She sprang away instantly, her ears turning bright red. She didn’t know where to put her hands.
But she forced herself to stay calm and blurted out: “That… I didn’t mean to kiss you. Anyway, you kissed me back—wait, no, you bit me back.”
Having said that, she went back to hugging the person firmly: “I’m not letting go.”
“If you don’t let go, I’ll bite you again.”
