After Transmigrating as the Abandoned Rich Wife O, I Turned the Scum A's Life into a Crematorium [Transmigration] - Chapter 4
Shen Siying’s lips tightened as she looked away, her brows slightly raised in a display of displeasure.
“Do you even know your own identity? Going to a bar at night to meet other Alphas—are you trying to make things difficult for me on purpose?”
Shen Siying’s voice sounded somewhat muffled.
“I don’t want to see headlines tomorrow saying my Omega gave me a ‘green hat’.”
“Have you considered Grandmother? She likes you so much. I hope you won’t cause her any trouble.”
Gu Bei didn’t quite catch the last few things Jian Peiyun said over the phone. She nodded, thinking to herself that she understood the logic, but this was about her career. If Shen Siying dumped her later, she needed a job to support herself. She couldn’t and wouldn’t miss out on any potential “money trees.”
She thought she was being clever: she’d agree to Shen Siying’s face, since the woman wouldn’t be staying the night in her room anyway. Once Shen Siying left, she’d sneak out undetected.
However, the current Gu Bei didn’t realize that her little schemes were written all over her face—she couldn’t hide anything from Shen Siying, who spent her days dealing with the “old foxes” of the business world.
“Tell her now,” Shen Siying commanded.
Gu Bei blinked. She caught a stronger scent of roses, like they had been soaking in premium red wine for a long time. It was an intoxicating fragrance, but it carried a powerful, undeniable sense of suppression.
“Tell her you’re not going,” Shen Siying said, looking down at Gu Bei. “Be firm about it.”
Gu Bei didn’t understand why this “True Lead Alpha,” who supposedly disliked the female supporting character, was acting this way. Her eyes glazed over with a layer of mist, making her vision blurry. She realized she couldn’t get away with saying one thing and doing another.
Ultimately, she gave in.
“Gu Bei? President Gu?” On the other end of the line, Jian Peiyun was anxiously waiting for a response.
“Just call me Gu Bei,” she said, fine beads of sweat beginning to form on her forehead.
“Hmm?” Shen Siying’s gaze turned dark and predatory.
“Um, Peiyun, I can’t make it today.”
As soon as the words left Gu Bei’s mouth, she heard Jian Peiyun’s nearly wailed cry of disappointment.
“Then do you still want to sign me?” Jian Peiyun began to act cute and spoiled.
Gu Bei found it a bit funny and even a little cute. Looking at Shen Siying in front of her, she realized that not all Alphas were the same. But she didn’t know how to respond. She had seen Jian Peiyun’s livestream; she knew the girl was a “good seedling” who would definitely rake in money for her in the future.
However, Shen Siying’s overbearing attitude made her instinctively hang up the phone. The last thing Jian Peiyun heard was, “Let’s talk about it later.”
Disturbed by the phone call, Shen Siying lost some interest. Although she still craved the Omega’s pheromones, she restrained herself. But she showed no intention of leaving.
Even though Shen Siying had only released a small amount of Alpha pheromones, it was enough to make an Omega swoon—and Gu Bei was no exception. While her mind was saying “no” to this strange new world, her body was being very honest.
Her eyes were watery, and her nose twitched as she breathed in the lingering scent of Shen Siying’s wine-soaked roses. Her shirt had slipped even lower, exposing a large area of delicate skin. Gu Bei rubbed against the sheets, trying to find some comfort. Her mind was a mess; she wished someone would just punch her to snap her out of it.
Shen Siying frowned, the gold in her pupils fading until her black irises were clearly visible. As a top-tier Alpha, she had excellent self-control. Unless she was completely overwhelmed, she could pull back from the brink.
She looked at the provocatively posed, beautiful little Omega, licked her lips, and slowly retreated to the window. Sitting on the velvet sofa, she asked coldly, “Tell me, what trick have you come up with this time?”
Gu Bei hadn’t escaped the pull of the Alpha pheromones yet and wasn’t in the mood for a coherent conversation. She hummed and hawed a few words, shrinking back against the edge of the bed with her feet tensed and toes curled, looking like a pathetic, tiny little ball.
Shen Siying narrowed her eyes, her gaze fixed squarely on Gu Bei.
They had been married for three years, and she had never touched Gu Bei, nor had Gu Bei ever tempted her like this. She shouldn’t have been affected by Gu Bei’s pheromones—after all, their compatibility was low enough to be negligible. So what was that moment of loss of composure just now?
The Gu Bei before her was soft, fragile, a bit arrogant, and even a little cute. She seemed simple and without guile, wearing her heart on her sleeve. Had I misjudged her?
Shen Siying opened the red wine on the side table and poured a little into a glass. She didn’t drink it immediately but swirled it, watching the liquid splash against the glass walls—and watching Gu Bei’s movements through the glass.
Gu Bei rolled slightly toward the edge of the bed. Just as she was about to fall off, a pair of warm hands caught her.
Gu Bei caught the scent of pheromones lingering on Shen Siying’s clothes and inhaled greedily. When her cheek and neck touched Shen Siying’s skin, it felt like she was being healed—but it wasn’t enough! Not enough!
Like an unconscious little animal, Gu Bei kept burrowing into Shen Siying’s arms. The sensation tickled Shen Siying, but a trace of tenderness flickered in her eyes.
Shen Siying placed Gu Bei back on the bed, pushing her further inward this time. She pulled a plush blanket over her and patted her back gently, soothing her like a child: “It’ll be okay soon, it’ll be okay soon…”
Though Gu Bei stopped her strange movements, her brow remained furrowed. Fine sweat dotted her temples and the tip of her nose, her long lashes trembled, and her body shivered as if she were afraid.
Shen Siying sighed and slowly leaned over, lying down beside Gu Bei. She rested the girl’s head on her chest, patting her back while releasing a small amount of pheromones to comfort the little person in her arms.
That night, Gu Bei slept fitfully. The Alpha’s faint pheromones didn’t fully soothe her; she drifted in and out of a daze. Every time she showed signs of waking, Shen Siying would immediately increase the pheromone dosage and continue patting her until she fell back asleep.
Shen Siying wasn’t the type of “Bad Alpha” to take advantage of an Omega in distress. Despite her internal reluctance, she stayed until dawn, letting Gu Bei clutch the edge of her shirt and occasionally sniff her grape-purple hair with her “puppy nose.”
What woke Gu Bei up wasn’t an alarm, but a rich milky aroma.
Like a hungry wolf scenting its prey, she snapped her eyes open and sat up. She suffered a moment of postural hypotension, her vision going dark for a second. She held her forehead and shook it twice—all better.
What is that? It smells amazing!
Gu Bei scrambled out of bed, not even stopping for shoes. She rushed out of the room and stepped barefoot onto the spiral staircase. The scent grew stronger—it wasn’t just ordinary bread. Before transmigrating, Gu Bei had gone to a high-end French bakery with a friend; the freshly baked Madeleines there smelled exactly like this.
She tentatively walked down the steps. Just as she reached the first floor, she heard the butler talking to a maid, heading toward her position. Frightened, Gu Bei turned to run, her clumsy movements making quite a bit of noise.
“Since you’re up, come down and eat.” Shen Siying had excellent hearing and had sensed Gu Bei’s presence long ago. Her voice was calm and actually quite pleasant.
The butler and maid understood and hurried upstairs, meeting Gu Bei, whose expression was now slightly embarrassed.
“Good morning, Madam!”
“Hahaha, good morning to you too!”
Gu Bei followed the butler with messy hair. It was early autumn, and her bare feet on the marble floor were freezing.
Shen Siying, sitting at the table, glanced at Gu Bei before taking a mint-flavored glass of warm water from a maid to rinse her mouth. She wiped her mouth with a hot towel and ignored her.
The butler kindly pulled out a chair for Gu Bei. Noticing her bare feet with no socks or shoes, he cried out, “Madam, why aren’t you wearing shoes?”
Once seated, Gu Bei hurriedly hid her feet, terrified of exposing her gluttonous nature and making Shen Siying—who already disliked her—hate her even more. She was miles away from her business being officially operational, and her balance was already under a million. She might have to rely on Shen Siying in the future; she couldn’t mess up now. She had to try her best not to make the woman hate her more.
Once the career starts, I’m taking the money and getting out, Gu Bei thought.
Shen Siying stood up and walked past Gu Bei without sparing her a single glance. She said coldly, “Are you trying to catch a cold so I’ll have to take you to the hospital and play house again for Grandmother, just like last time?”
Gu Bei was confused. She didn’t want that at all! She definitely didn’t want to get sick—there were so many beautiful Alphas at the office waiting for her to “inspect.” How could she get sick!
“President Shen, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that, I just…”
Before Gu Bei could finish, Shen Siying swept away, leaving behind a cold: “Better not.”
Gu Bei rolled her eyes and grabbed a warm little cake from the tray with her bare hands, stuffing her small mouth full.
“It really is delicious, so fragrant!” Gu Bei’s happiness came easily. “I smelled it from upstairs!”
“Fresh milk Madeleines,” the butler said, amused by her eating style. “Freshly baked this morning.”
Gu Bei stuffed another one into her mouth. “Are there more?”
As she spoke, cake crumbs sprayed from her mouth. The butler gave a polite smile and turned to get her more.
At the door, a maid was helping Shen Siying into her high heels encrusted with large rhinestones. Shen Siying’s thoughts were pulled back to Gu Bei, and her lips curled up involuntarily. But it was only for a moment before she quickly resumed her cold, serious expression.
“Madam, don’t choke!” The butler hurriedly handed Gu Bei a glass of warm milk.
Gu Bei took the milk, gulped down half the glass, and asked indistinctly, “Is there soy milk?”
The butler looked troubled. “Madam… the President hates all soy products.”
Gu Bei’s hand, reaching for more food, froze in mid-air for two seconds as she realized her slip-up. She turned toward the door, but Shen Siying had already left. She lowered her eyes, feeling dejected and self-reproachful.
Xiao Ba: “Heh, see? That’s what happens when you don’t follow the original plot!”
The Transmigration Sprite’s voice rang in Gu Bei’s head. She glanced at the butler watching her and decided not to talk to the sprite right now, lest the butler label her as “schizophrenic.”
Seeing Gu Bei’s silence, Xiao Ba persisted: “You should have at least stood up to see the CEO off! That big boss was following you around last night; she hates the smell of milk and sweets, but she hired a pastry chef specifically for you. And look at you—not only were you eating like a pig, you couldn’t even say one nice word! You, you… how are you an evil villain? If I were you, I’d be trying my hardest to win back my husband!…”
Xiao Ba wanted to continue rambling, but Gu Bei really couldn’t listen anymore.
“Why go through all that effort to win back a ‘scum gong’? For the New Year?”
Her attitude was a bit intense. The butler, who was quietly pouring milk, was startled; his hand shook, spilling a bit of milk.
“Madam?” he asked.
A second later, Gu Bei squeezed out a huge smile and waved her hands. “Nothing, nothing! Carry on!”
The butler felt even more helpless. After being unconscious for a day, the Madam had gone “stupid.” He felt pity for his boss.
