After Transmigrating as the Scumbag Alpha in an Otherworld Novel, I Ended Up with the Villain - Chapter 2
Disorganized memories overlapped once again, making Su Xinge’s head spin. She knew that if she stayed here any longer, something was bound to go wrong.
The air seemed to freeze for a brief moment.
Su Xinge turned to leave the room. But the instant her hand touched the doorknob, she was embraced from behind by a soft warmth. A rich, sweet fragrance swirled around her, pinning her to the spot.
“Don’t go.”
A low murmur, like heavenly music, drifted into her ear accompanied by a puff of warm breath.
Su Xinge turned around, her entire body trembling. Part of her wanted to pounce fiercely on this “delicious cake” and claim it as her own. She rubbed her knuckles against the seams of her trousers until they twisted; her fingertips, stained with blood from her own gripping force, pressed into the soft fabric.
Two voices clashed incessantly in her mind:
Possess her.
You’ll be turned into a human stump.
As she wavered, fine beads of sweat from Lin Yuxuan’s forehead trickled down her hair, and a crystalline tear fell from the corner of her eye. Seeing that tear, Su Xinge was instantly dominated by the other voice. This vivid, beautiful person should not be defiled by such foul methods.
“Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon.” Su Xinge reached out to wipe away the tear sliding toward Lin Yuxuan’s lip. In her teary-eyed state, the woman looked utterly delicate. “You’ll be fine, I promise.”
Su Xinge met Lin Yuxuan’s gaze, but she couldn’t see anything clearly through the misty depths. Finally, she softened her voice: “Wait for me in the room.”
With that, Su Xinge turned, pushed the door open, and stepped out, pulling it shut gently behind her.
Inside the room, Lin Yuxuan watched the retreating back and couldn’t help but feel a surge of nausea. The fragile, tearful expression vanished instantly, replaced by nothing but a cold, suppressed endurance.
Outside, Su Xinge’s face was flushed red, but the long, dark corridor hid her state. No sunlight reached this place; the darkness was so thick it felt as if she were completely cut off from the outside world.
Following the fragmented memories in her mind, Su Xinge walked toward the end of the dark hall and turned left. Suddenly, she hit a patch of bright light that made her squint in discomfort. Before she could fully adjust, a voice reached her from a distance.
“That took quite a while. Tasted good, didn’t it?”
The light interfered with Su Xinge’s vision, making it impossible to see who was speaking. But the voice—thick with mockery and lust—was truly revolting.
“She’s a newcomer to the base. You happened to arrive at just the right time; consider this a bargain you picked up.”
The words came from a middle-aged, obese man with a mouthful of yellow teeth. As her memories aligned, Su Xinge recognized him: Huang Yun, the public manager of this nighttime establishment. It was called “nighttime,” but in reality, it operated twenty-four hours a day.
“Honestly, you’re still so rough. If you leave marks, it’s going to be inconvenient.”
The fat man was all smiles. His tone sounded reproachful, but his slightly hunched posture and the fawning look in his eyes showed he was purely trying to suck up to her.
Before Su Xinge could speak, Huang Yun let out a string of vulgarities like a machine gun. Only now did Su Xinge truly understand the full story—a detail the original novel had skipped over. So that was how the scars on that body came to be. The original host really deserved to be turned into a human stump.
Su Xinge didn’t want to deal with his foul mouth and cut straight to the point: “Do you have any suppressants here?”
Huang Yun looked shocked, the fat on his face wobbling as he spoke: “Are you joking? How could a place like this have something like a suppressant?”
Su Xinge searched her scattered memories but found no information about suppressants. In the novel, the romantic lives of the male and female leads were as smooth as water; they never had a use for such things. Su Xinge had no idea where to find one.
A strange smell in the air kept drifting into her nose. Suppressing her discomfort, she asked, “Where can I trade for them?”
Huang Yun teased with a lecherous grin, “Oh, those are hard to find. They rarely show up even in the trading zone. Are you trying to play some new kind of game?”
The veins on Su Xinge’s forehead throbbed. She gritted her teeth: “I just want to know where they are.”
Huang Yun sensed a change in the atmosphere. It was the pressure an “Awakened” exerted over an ordinary person. The fat on his body began to shake. He couldn’t afford to offend an Awakened. Even though he had his own backers, he himself was still just a normal human.
After a moment of thought, Huang Yun said, “Actually, you can exchange for them at the Base General Warehouse. There are quite a few suppressants among the items turned in by the new survivors. But it’s not exchange time yet. However, there’s another place you could try your luck.”
Su Xinge’s voice was urgent: “Take me there now.”
Huang Yun looked conflicted and whispered, “I can’t leave right now. How about I have one of my men take you?” Seeing Su Xinge nod, Huang Yun quickly waved over a young man standing nearby. “Xiao Wu, come here. Take her to see Brother Li.”
Xiao Wu bowed respectfully and prepared to lead Su Xinge downstairs. At that moment, Su Xinge turned back to Huang Yun: “Take good care of her. If she wants anything to eat or drink, send it in.”
Huang Yun put on a smile: “I understand, I understand.”
Su Xinge turned and strode past Xiao Wu, urging him, “Let’s move faster.”
As they walked down the stairs to the ground floor, Su Xinge finally identified the source of that strange smell. In the front of the ground floor lobby, a dark-skinned man with an afro was beating out a strange rhythm on a drum kit. The beat was tight and continuous, as if it would never stop.
In the center of the hall, countless men and women twisted their bodies. It looked like a giant, sticky spiderweb controlling the crowd’s movements. No neon lights were needed; the sun and the rhythm were their greatest tools for revelry. The atmosphere reached a peak in this mysterious carnival, and a chaotic scent rose with it.
Su Xinge frowned. She finally understood what Huang Yun meant—no wonder they didn’t use suppressants here.
As she brushed past the crowd, many people lost in the delirium nodded or waved at her. Su Xinge ignored them and sped up. If the crowd hadn’t been so thick, she would have run.
Stepping out of the den of revelry, the sky over the streets was gloomy. The sun seemed hidden behind ten thousand layers of clouds. Countless fine dust particles floated in the air; a suffocating and oppressive atmosphere enveloped the world.
Su Xinge walked extremely fast. She had no interest in observing the city’s layout; she only wanted to return to Lin Yuxuan as soon as possible.
Ten minutes later, Xiao Wu led her to a massive warehouse that looked like a former processing plant. Next to the warehouse was a brick house. Xiao Wu tapped on the window—two short taps and one long. About three seconds later, the window opened.
A bearded middle-aged man poked his head out, sounding impatient: “What do you need?”
“I need a suppressant,” Su Xinge said.
The man sized her up and then spoke: “I can give you a little now, but I want half of your haul from your next field mission. The more you bring back, the more I’ll give you in the future.”
“Deal,” Su Xinge replied.
The man slammed the window shut. Half a minute later, it opened again, and he handed over a small red bottle. Su Xinge took it, and the weight on her heart finally lightened a bit.
On the way back, a light rain began to fall from the grey sky, as if trying to wash away the dust of the world. As the raindrops hit her, Su Xinge felt exceptionally refreshed; the dry heat in her body finally began to subside.
…
When she returned to the second floor, she found Huang Yun pacing the corridor in a panic. Seeing this, Su Xinge’s heart sank.
Suppressing her inner unease, she asked, “What’s the situation?”
Huang Yun’s face was pale as he spoke with difficulty: “She’s… she’s gone.”
Su Xinge’s brain seemed to stall. “What do you mean, ‘gone’?”
Huang Yun spoke cautiously: “She just disappeared suddenly. It’s possible… she might have been taken by Rye (Hei Mai) and his group.”
Su Xinge’s mind raced to recall information about “Rye.” Rye was one of the many Awakened in the base, but his level of villainy was even worse than the original host’s.
Su Xinge’s eyelid twitched violently. “I told you to take care of her, not to let someone take her away!”
Huang Yun explained frantically, “Rye did come by just now, but I… I didn’t dare cross him!”
Su Xinge gritted her teeth. “Did you not dare, or did you just not want to?” Knowing the faction behind Huang Yun, she naturally didn’t believe his excuse.
Huang Yun, thinking he knew the old Su Xinge—someone who cared about face but didn’t view these women as people—tried to persuade her again: “She’s just a woman. Worst comes to worst, next time you can just launch a surprise raid and snatch one of his. He’s already taken her, and he surely has people guarding her. Besides, you know he’s an Awakened; how can we ordinary people afford to provoke him?”
Su Xinge didn’t want to waste any more words. “I’ll ask you one last time: where is she? Take me there.”
Huang Yun continued his patient “advice”: “Unawakened Omegas are everywhere. It’s not like you can’t live without this one.”
If I don’t find Lin Yuxuan, I really might not live, Su Xinge thought. And I’ll become a human stump.
Thinking of the confident promise she had made earlier, Su Xinge felt like a joke.
“If I don’t find her today,” Su Xinge said, “you won’t live either—regardless of who is standing behind you.”
Time ticked by, and the fire in Su Xinge’s heart spread to her head. Seeing her grim expression and realizing she wasn’t joking, Huang Yun wondered why this “lord” was so furious today.
After a moment of internal struggle, Huang Yun spoke: “I’ll take you to Rye, but you’ll have to handle it yourself. I can’t help you.”
Upon hearing this, Su Xinge immediately reached out to pull Huang Yun toward the exit. The result shocked her. She had only intended to give him a light tug, but she ended up pulling him so hard he face-planted on the floor.
The strength was terrifying. But the more she understood this power, the more she loathed it. No wonder a character as smart and ruthless as Lin Yuxuan was destroyed by these scumbags.
