After Transmigrating as the Vicious Female Supporting Character, I Ran Away While Pregnant - Chapter 13
The person who arrived was indeed Li Sheng. She had just arrived home with Ranran when the little one started crying, saying Nona was lost. After thinking carefully, Ranran said she had left it at Mo Yueshuang’s house.
Coincidentally, Guan Tai had come over to hang out, so Li Sheng asked him to look after Ranran while she drove back to retrieve the pendant. She never expected to see this scene in the parking lot.
Li Sheng was not one to meddle in others’ business. Having lived through the apocalypse, her blood had long since turned cold; even if a scene of cannibalism happened before her, she would remain indifferent. That is, until she glimpsed the license plate and recognized it as Mo Yueshuang’s car.
She figured the unlucky person inside must be Mo Yueshuang.
“I don’t want to meddle, but you are bullying my friend.”
Li Sheng walked up to Mo Haogui and looked him in the eye. Mo Haogui weighed the rock in his hand and suddenly stepped forward, reaching out a hand to grab Li Sheng’s collar to teach her a lesson.
However, the moment his hand reached out, his wrist was suddenly seized. Before he knew what was happening, Li Sheng struck him twice, leaving him with two perfect black eyes.
Li Sheng twisted his arm, flipped him around so his back was to her, and pressed him against the car window.
Right under his nose and above his lip was the very phlegm he had just spat.
This time, Mo Haogui was pressed against the glass in an even more distorted and hideous manner, but Mo Yueshuang no longer felt fear; instead, she felt a hint of amusement.
Ignoring the phlegm, Mo Haogui wailed for mercy. Li Sheng, finding his ghost-like howling irritating to the ears, let go and released him.
Mo Haogui turned around and backed away step by step against the car. Once he was a few paces away from Li Sheng, he spun around and bolted.
Li Sheng turned her head to look at Mo Yueshuang inside the car. Mo Yueshuang’s ear tips were red; she pursed her lips and said nothing until Li Sheng spoke: “He’s gone. You can come out now.”
Mo Yueshuang opened the door and stepped out. Perhaps because she was still shaken, her legs felt weak the moment she exited, and she stumbled toward Li Sheng.
Li Sheng caught her by instinct, her brow furrowing slightly. Once Mo Yueshuang stood firm, she asked flatly: “Are you alright?”
“I’m fine, thank you.” Mo Yueshuang felt very dejected, her gaze drifting toward the distance, not daring to look Li Sheng in the eye.
Since entering the entertainment industry nine years ago, she had always been a glamorous star to the public, an elegant and dignified actress under the spotlight. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been this disheveled.
And of all people, she had to be caught in such a state by this person.
Mo Yueshuang wallowed in her melancholy for a moment, but when she looked up, she found that Li Sheng’s expression hadn’t changed at all. She was just standing there, quietly waiting for her to compose herself.
Li Sheng’s attitude actually made Mo Yueshuang feel more stifled. Li Sheng was too cold, seemingly indifferent to everything, yet somehow Mo Yueshuang had begun to care a little more about this block of ice.
“Why did you come back so suddenly?”
Mo Yueshuang guessed it was for Ranran’s pendant.
“Ranran realized the pendant was left at your house when we got home. She loves that thing; she talks to the little figure every night before bed. I wanted to find it today.”
Mo Yueshuang took the pendant out of her bag: “I found it in the study after you left. I figured Ranran loved it so much she’d be heartbroken if it stayed lost, so I was planning to deliver it to her while it was still early.”
Mo Yueshuang held it out, but Li Sheng didn’t take it. Instead, she reached out and grabbed Mo Yueshuang’s wrist, leading her along while saying: “Since you planned to deliver it to Ranran, let’s go.”
It wasn’t until Mo Yueshuang was sitting in Li Sheng’s car with her seatbelt fastened that she snapped out of her daze.
She couldn’t understand why Li Sheng insisted on taking her along, until the car drove out of the complex and she saw Mo Haogui lurking suspiciously behind a car parked on the curb. Only then did she realize the reason.
Mo Yueshuang gripped her seatbelt and said softly: “Thank you.”
Li Sheng remained silent and didn’t reply to the thanks. It wasn’t until they drove into her own residential complex and were about to get out of the car that Li Sheng said out of nowhere: “You should move to a new place soon.”
“Eh? Ah, yes. The company contract still has over half a year left. I signed an agreement and can’t just move away during this period. I’ll wait until the contract expires.”
Mo Yueshuang had installed many surveillance and alarm devices at home, even at the entrance. She used to feel safer with the company protecting her, but now that she lacked that shield, she had already asked Chen Yue to help select some reliable bodyguards.
Dayi Entertainment kept up appearances well—most people thought they were still a decent employer—but in reality, it was a miracle if they didn’t kick her while she was down.
Mo Yueshuang followed behind Li Sheng, observing this high-end luxury complex. She felt it was quite nice and close to the Film City. She could consider this place when she moves next year.
At Li Sheng’s door, Mo Yueshuang suddenly felt nervous—the kind of nerves from visiting a friend’s house for the first time—but that feeling only lasted until the door opened.
The person who opened the door wasn’t Li Sheng (who was about to enter the code), but Guan Tai, holding Ranran’s hand.
Seeing Li Sheng and Mo Yueshuang standing there together, Guan Tai’s nerves suddenly spiked. He marveled that Li Sheng was truly something else; back in the country for only a few days and she was already on house-visiting terms with the great movie queen Mo Yueshuang.
He thought of himself—working back home for years, still just a crew member. Forget knowing big stars; even third-tier actors didn’t want him as an assistant.
Luckily he wasn’t working for the money, otherwise he’d definitely be jealous enough to end the friendship.
Mo Yueshuang, however, froze the moment she saw Guan Tai. She had previously speculated this man was Li Ran’s father, but at the time she instinctively felt their auras were too mismatched for it to be possible. Now, seeing him at Li Sheng’s house acting so close to Ranran, her denial vanished.
“Hello! Mo… Mo Yueshuang. I’m a fan! I’ve followed you for years. Even though I work in the industry, I’ve never had the chance to see you up close like this.”
Guan Tai was so nervous his words weren’t even smooth.
“He-he-hello! My name is Guan Tai. ‘Guan’ as in ‘the ospreys cry (Guan Guan)’, and ‘Tai’ as in ‘Mount Tai does not bend’.”
“Mr. Guan, hello. Sorry to intrude today.”
“No, no, no, no intrusion. Just call me Guan Tai.”
Guan Tai let go of Ranran’s hand and wiped his palms on his clothes, wanting to shake Mo Yueshuang’s hand. But just as he finished wiping, little Ranran—free of her restraint—shot like an arrow into Mo Yueshuang’s arms.
“Auntie Mo! Did you come to see Ranran? Are you a guest at Ranran’s house? Auntie Mo, stay for dinner, okay? Mommy’s dinners are the best!”
Mo Yueshuang hugged Li Ran, listening to the little one’s soft, whispered pleas to stay. Her heart melted completely.
Li Sheng stood behind Mo Yueshuang, watching as her best friend and her daughter gave all their attention to the guest. She felt quite lonely standing there by herself.
