After Transmigrating as the Vicious Female Supporting Character, I Ran Away While Pregnant - Chapter 14
Li Sheng stood at the door for a while longer. Estimating that they had hugged long enough, she let out a light cough to catch their attention: “Don’t leave the guest standing at the door.”
Guan Tai finally snapped out of it, realizing that he and Ranran had blocked Mo Yueshuang outside. He stepped aside and said to Ranran, “Ranran, move over a bit and let Ms. Mo come in to rest.”
“Li Sheng, why don’t you go buy some groceries? we should properly host Ms. Mo.” Guan Tai was very close with Li Sheng; this take-charge tone didn’t seem out of place to Li Sheng or Li Ran, but it caused Mo Yueshuang to once again define Guan Tai as the male master of this house.
After entering the house, Mo Yueshuang sat on a red sofa. A pile of children’s toys lay on the sofa, and several stacks of documents were on the table in front. Seeing this, Guan Tai immediately stepped forward to tidy the documents into his arms, smiling sheepishly at Mo Yueshuang: “I didn’t know Li Sheng would bring a friend back. Ranran and I have made a bit of a mess of the house.”
Mo Yueshuang smiled, but there wasn’t much warmth in her eyes.
“It is my fault for coming over without calling first and disturbing Mr. Guan.”
“You’re too polite, just call me Guan Tai.” Guan Tai went to brew a cup of tea for Mo Yueshuang and then cut up a fresh fruit platter to bring over.
Everything here had been arranged by him according to Li Sheng’s preferences before her return. Thus, even though this was Li Sheng’s home, he was more familiar with the environment than she was.
“Thank you, Mr. Guan… Guan Tai.”
“Don’t mention it! Your presence here truly makes our humble abode shine!” This “little brother fan” felt his brain stop working properly after meeting his goddess.
“Auntie Mo, eat some fruit first, then drink the tea. Only eat a little bit though, or you won’t be able to eat the dinner Mommy prepares.”
“Auntie Mo, drink less tea too. If you drink too much at night, you won’t be able to sleep. Last time Ranran drank too much, I stayed awake in bed until three in the morning!”
“Okay, thank you for telling me, Ranran. I’ve noted it all down.”
“Mhm, eat some fruit.”
Li Sheng leaned against the doorframe with her arms crossed, coldly watching the three of them chatting busily. In an instant, she, the homeowner, had become an outsider.
“Guan Tai, we are keeping Ms. Mo for dinner. You go buy some groceries.”
Li Sheng spoke. Guan Tai instinctively wanted to retort, ‘Didn’t I just tell you to go?’, but before he could speak, he saw Li Sheng’s face turning a dark, stormy shade of anger. Guan Tai swallowed hard, clutched his documents, and started walking out of the house: “Fine, I’ll go buy them. You host the guest properly.”
“Ms. Mo isn’t a guest; she is Ranran’s godmother.”
Li Sheng only said this after Guan Tai had stepped out of the front door. By the time Guan Tai turned back in shock, Li Sheng had ruthlessly shut the door, leaving him standing outside in a dazed, regretful mess.
With Guan Tai gone, Mo Yueshuang felt her ears were finally at peace, and her cluttered mind slowly calmed down.
“Ms. Li, may I use the restroom?”
“My name is Li Sheng.”
“Eh?” Mo Yueshuang was a bit stunned: “I know, you…”
“You can call me by my name.” Li Sheng’s tone was not friendly; it was cold and carried a trace of nearly imperceptible anger. Mo Yueshuang simply assumed she had sensed it wrong.
“Li… Sheng. I, I’d like to use the restroom.”
Li Sheng’s beautiful brows furrowed slightly, feeling very displeased. It was so easy and natural for her to say the two words “Guan Tai,” but when it came to her, it was like the words got stuck.
“Be my guest.”
Only after receiving permission did Mo Yueshuang go to the restroom. Li Sheng sat on the single sofa. On the small table in front of her sat the tea Mo Yueshuang hadn’t had time to taste and the fruit platter Guan Tai had cut.
Li Sheng pointedly ignored those two items. She turned on the TV and focused her attention on the drama.
Coincidentally, the show playing was an urban romance starring Mo Yueshuang. It was a work from many years ago; Mo Yueshuang was still very green then, though her acting was already remarkable.
On screen, the blind girl she played was sitting on a hospital bed eating an apple her lover had peeled for her, a happy and satisfied smile on her face.
Irritated, Li Sheng stood up. Her gaze fell on the fruit platter and the tea. Without hesitation, she stepped forward, picked them up, and took them into the kitchen.
“Mommy, what are you doing?”
Ranran followed Li Sheng while clutching a transforming car toy. Li Sheng said: “The fruit was bought yesterday; it’s not fresh. The tea leaves were bought last week; they’re a bit moldy.”
“Ah? Uncle Xiao Guan is bad!”
Li Ran followed indignantly behind Li Sheng: “Is Mommy going to change them for fresh ones for Auntie Mo?”
“Mhm.”
Li Sheng took a few apples and a small knife. Her hands worked in perfect coordination as the knife glided over the apple. In a few moments, the apple had turned into a cute little rabbit.
Li Sheng then proceeded to carve the apples into little squirrels and hedgehogs.
“Mommy, I don’t want to eat fruit right now?”
The house rarely hosted guests except for the regulars Miranda and Guan Tai. Ranran rarely saw outsiders in the house, and Li Sheng would never peel fruit for Miranda or Guan Tai.
So, Ranran assumed Li Sheng was peeling them for her.
“This is for your Auntie Mo. Ranran, go play for a bit. I’ll be out after I finish brewing the tea.”
Li Sheng prepared a flower tea meant to nourish the spirit and blood. Unlike Guan Tai’s crude method of grabbing a handful of tea leaves and pouring water, Li Sheng had actually studied this art. The flower tea she prepared was of top-tier quality; when held in the hand, the petals bloomed slowly in the hot water, full of artistic flair.
When Mo Yueshuang came out and saw the tea and fruit on the table had been replaced, she couldn’t help but be stunned. Seeing Li Sheng’s slightly softened expression, a few thoughts flashed through Mo Yueshuang’s mind, but they vanished before she could catch them. Under Li Sheng’s steady, indifferent gaze, Mo Yueshuang took a small sip of the tea to taste it.
The fragrance entered her throat, fresh and elegant, as if it could wash away all her fatigue. Mo Yueshuang smiled in praise: “Li Sheng, I didn’t expect your tea ceremony skills to be so good.”
“Mhm.” Li Sheng felt a bit smug but quickly restrained herself, locking her happiness inside and showing nothing on her face. She said with feigned indifference: “I studied it for a few days when I was bored. I’m glad you like it.”
“I like it very much.”
As if to prove she really liked it, Mo Yueshuang picked up the cup and took another sip.
Setting the cup down, Mo Yueshuang suddenly remembered her purpose for coming. She took the Nona pendant from her bag and quietly walked over to Ranran, who was focused on stacking blocks.
Ranran noticed Mo Yueshuang approaching. She turned her head with a smile: “Auntie Mo!”
Just as the little one finished speaking, she saw Mo Yueshuang’s extended palm, holding her favorite Nona pendant.
