After Transmigrating, I Became the Most Cowardly Kid (GL) - Chapter 10
The busy stairwell instantly quieted down after two people left.
Meng Qianwen covered her face and crouched down. Chi Zhihuai didn’t know what to say and exchanged glances with Chen Qin.
Passersby looked at the three of them strangely. Chen Qin hesitated for a while, then ran over and pulled her cousin: “Wenwen, why don’t you go back to the room and calm down first.”
The next second, muffled sobs suddenly came through her arms, startling Chen Qin.
Chi Zhihuai happened to have tissues on her. She crouched down next to Meng Qianwen and carefully handed them to her.
They weren’t close enough to discuss emotional secrets, so they could only sit with her.
Meng Qianwen cried for a few minutes, wiped her tears, stood up, and said, “Thank you. You two go look for the workbook. I won’t go.”
Chen Qin nodded: “Okay. Message me if you need anything.”
Watching her leave, Chen Qin sighed and whispered to her deskmate, “That boy is her next-door neighbor she grew up with; they’re childhood sweethearts. Their families used to be quite close, but the boy became more and more rebellious. Wenwen followed him and also went astray quite a bit, which made my uncle so angry he moved last month.”
“Is that so…” Chi Zhihuai walked up the stairs. “Actually, that boy was my junior high classmate.”
“Huh? What a coincidence?” Chen Qin looked at her in surprise. “The world is too small… Wait, then did you know Shang Han before?”
Chi Zhihuai quickly shook her head: “Complete strangers!”
While chatting, the two reached the third floor. They searched row by row and actually found the Physics workbook.
Chi Zhihuai quickly took a photo of the answer page for the corresponding exercise and reluctantly put the workbook back.
Chen Qin next to her looked wistfully at the spine of the workbook: “I really wish I could take pictures of all the answers, so I wouldn’t have to do the workbook.”
Chi Zhihuai was momentarily stunned by this remark. So, even good students had such wicked thoughts?
She also looked at the spine, but the more she looked, the more tempting the answers seemed. She quickly averted her gaze: “Let’s go back quickly. I want to check the answers.”
Back in the small study room, Chen Qin opened the door first and saw her cousin had returned to normal, spinning a pen and reading a book.
Hearing the door open, she looked up and asked, “Did you find it?”
“We found it.” Chen Qin sat down and said to Chi Zhihuai, “Oh, deskmate, send me a copy of the photo. I need to check my answers when I finish.”
“Sure.” Chi Zhihuai agreed, closed the door, and sat down opposite the two.
Meng Qianwen didn’t mention what had just happened, and they pretended nothing had occurred. However, after Chi Zhihuai finished checking her answers, Meng Qianwen suddenly pulled out her phone and said, “Let’s add each other as friends.”
“Sounds good.” Chi Zhihuai pulled up her QR code and held it out for her to scan.
Chen Qin looked at them, happily swaying her legs.
She had worried that her deskmate wouldn’t like her cousin, thinking she was too academically poor, but they were getting along so well now.
Meng Qianwen read two more pages, felt restless, and leaned against the back of the chair to play a game on her phone.
Chen Qin felt she had studied a lot today, so she didn’t stop her, only reminding her to wear headphones and not play the sound out loud.
They studied until noon, and then the three went out to eat.
Chen Qin said there was a delicious rice bowl shop near the municipal library. The other two had no objection and followed her.
Chen Qin and Chi Zhihuai each ordered a braised beef rice bowl. Meng Qianwen didn’t look at the menu and said sharing one with her cousin would be enough.
Chi Zhihuai glanced down at her slender calves and realized why she was so thin.
That girl only ate a few bites, while Chi Zhihuai had been eating fish soup and pork rib soup every day since she was discharged, and she rarely exercised. Of course, she was bound to gain weight.
Although her only concern now was survival, everything else was secondary, but she still didn’t want to get fat like a ball after high school graduation.
So, she should eat less…
The rice bowl was delicious. Chi Zhihuai tried to control herself, putting down her chopsticks when she was about 80% full.
But the leftover beef looked too wasteful. After struggling internally for a moment, she picked out the meat and ate it anyway.
She even found a plausible reason for herself—Mental labor is exhausting, and she needed to build a solid foundation for her afternoon study session!
After lunch, they returned to the library, took a nap resting on the tables, and then got up to continue studying.
Chi Zhihuai never thought she would spend an entire day studying in a library in this lifetime. Although she occasionally spaced out and chatted with the system in the afternoon, she did stay focused in the library.
Now, she was a little hungry, and she couldn’t concentrate at all.
She had eaten quite a bit at noon, but as soon as four o’clock passed, her stomach started rumbling again.
Ah, studying makes people hungry, and studying makes people fat!
Chi Zhihuai rubbed her stomach, then suddenly noticed the lollipop Meng Qianwen had given her. She immediately unwrapped it and put it in her mouth.
Just a few seconds later, her phone received a message notification.
Knight Tang: I wasn’t trying to hit her this morning. I just wanted to make things clear with her.
Chi Zhihuai awkwardly sucked on the lollipop. She hadn’t meant to be nosy, she just couldn’t control herself…
She thought for a moment and replied: I’m sorry, I misunderstood.
Knight Tang: It’s okay. She’s studying with you now. I want to ask you to look after her. Her foundation is weak, and she has many questions, so please don’t get annoyed.
Knight Tang: I owe you one. You can come to me anytime if you need something.
“…”
Chi Zhihuai felt like she wasn’t sucking on a lollipop but was being force-fed “dog food” (public display of affection).
Why did they have to shove “dog food” into her mouth like this? Couldn’t people show a little more consideration for single people!
She bit the lollipop angrily, but it wouldn’t break.
Chi Zhihuai: No need! No need! Her cousin and I are deskmates, and her cousin is watching her study. Don’t worry.
Knight Tang: Mhm. Her family doesn’t like me. Don’t tell them I contacted you.
Chi Zhihuai: Okay.
Ah, this damned love.
Before she could put down her phone, another message arrived.
Knight Tang: Do me another favor.
Chi Zhihuai: Mhm, sure, what is it?
Knight Tang: Shang Han said she scared you today and wants to invite you out to eat. Can you come?
“…”
?!?!?!
Shang Han was inviting her out to eat???
Chi Zhihuai thought she was hallucinating. She rubbed her eyes and saw the message was still there.
Damn! Was Shang Han thinking she was very brave when she “saved the beauty” and wanted to recruit her as one of her minions?!
Astounded by her own wild guess, she patted her cheeks and regained her composure.
Chi Zhihuai: No need! No need! I wasn’t scared. Thank you both, but I’ll eat dinner at home.
In a certain coffee shop, Tang Chen held up his phone for Shang Han to see.
“I told you she wouldn’t come.”
Shang Han didn’t look at the screen. She stirred her coffee and said, “I know she wouldn’t come.”
“Then…”
“Message her again. Say you’ll buy her bubble tea tomorrow and ask her not to refuse again.”
Tang Chen messaged Chi Zhihuai with a puzzled look. Half a minute later, he exclaimed, “Hey! She agreed this time.”
With that, he couldn’t help but look at the boss with admiration.
The boss was truly the boss. Even her tactics for getting a girl were leagues above his own.
