After Transmigrating, I Gained a Wife - Chapter 6
Father Luo returned to his room and immediately caught hold of his wife. “Your daughter likes that girl.”
Isn’t it obvious that the girl and Xiao Xue get along well? “The two children do get along quite nicely,” Mother Luo smiled, not thinking much of it, assuming it was just a close bond between girls.
“Your daughter asked me how she and Hanxue should… perform marital duties!” Father Luo sighed. “When I heard it, I thought I had misheard.”
Mother Luo was stunned. “What did you say…? Your daughter??” She was completely dazed. She really treats Hanxue as her own wife! Heavens above.
“It’s our daughter, alright.”
Mother Luo: “Does she not know she’s a girl herself?!” What was this little girl trying to pull?
Mother Luo continued, “Why did she suddenly ask you this?” It shouldn’t have been so sudden!
Father Luo: “She said she heard from others that it’s possible between a woman and another woman.”
“What, looking at you, does it mean you’ve agreed?” Mother Luo teased. “If you agreed, you two really are father and daughter. Incredible, simply incredible!”
Father Luo: “Why wouldn’t I agree? Our daughter has already married the person into our home. It just so happens she truly likes the girl Hanxue.”
Mother Luo: “I originally thought of finding Hanxue a good family in a couple of years. I never expected… never expected my daughter to fall for her.”
Father Luo’s expression turned serious. “Let it be. Let them live their lives well from now on. If Hanxue ever returned to her family and truly spoke out, or reported it to the yamen, the consequences would be unimaginable!” Things would be even harder. He just didn’t know if his daughter could make it through this path.
Mother Luo: “Did you tell your daughter yet?” They were in a difficult situation; everything was out of necessity.
Father Luo: “Not yet. I’ll find a time to mention it. Since it’s confirmed our daughter is acting as a man, she’ll have to shoulder everything that comes next.” He felt pained for her.
Mother Luo: “Tell her as soon as you get back tomorrow. We can’t delay it anymore. She’s already married; news has likely reached ‘their’ ears by now!”
Father Luo: “Mhm. Let’s sleep.”
The next day, Luo Yan woke up early. After preparing breakfast, Father Luo ate his fill and left for work. Luo Yan had specially made some more cold radish side dish.
Luo Yan ate with her father, and after they finished, she washed the dishes and returned to her room.
“Wife, Wife… are you hungry? Do you want to get up and eat?” Hanxue found Luo Yan’s voice a bit noisy. She squinted her eyes and reached out to cover Luo Yan’s mouth.
This silly wife. Luo Yan kissed Hanxue’s palm. Startled, the girl immediately withdrew her hand.
Li Hanxue: “I’m sleepy~ Let me sleep a bit more.” She was too tired. The time Luo Yan woke up was truly too early. Hmph~ this person doesn’t think it’s early at all.
Realizing Luo Yan hadn’t made another sound, she thought she had gone out. Who knew, the person climbed back onto the bed.
Li Hanxue quickly turned around to look; Luo Yan was already lying there. Hanxue tried to turn back away, but she didn’t succeed!
Silly wife, where can you run? “Let’s sleep a bit longer together.” Luo Yan giggled. She just wanted to hold her wife. Soft and fragrant—she loved it too much.
Li Hanxue drifted back into a light sleep close to Luo Yan. Luo Yan stayed by her side, quietly watching Hanxue’s exquisite face.
She gently stroked the strands of hair on Hanxue’s forehead. Hanxue’s eyelashes were very long and dark, truly beautiful! Luo Yan couldn’t help but lean in for a soft, tender kiss.
Seeing her wife didn’t move, Luo Yan’s lips curled into a smile. Her heart was full of joy and gratitude. In this life, meeting you is enough.
Wen Liang prepared early in the morning and headed to Luo Yan’s house. When he arrived, Mother Luo had just finished breakfast and was cleaning up.
Seeing Mother Luo, Wen Liang bowed and asked, “Excuse me, is this Luo Yan’s home?”
“You must be Wen Liang, right?” This child arrived quite early.
Wen Liang froze for a moment. “Yes, I am Wen Liang.”
“I am Luo Yan’s mother. Have a seat and wait a moment; I’ll call Luo Yan.” Why did Luo Yan wake up so late today?
Wen Liang: “Thank you, Auntie.” He hadn’t expected to meet his Master’s mother as soon as he arrived.
Mother Luo knocked on the door. “Xiao Yan, that boy Wen Liang is here. Get up quickly!”
Luo Yan hadn’t actually been sleeping. Hearing her mother, she quickly replied, “I’m coming!”
Mother Luo went back to the guest. She couldn’t let the boy wait alone.
Luo Yan got up lightly, but she still woke Hanxue.
“Are you going to sleep more?”
“No. I heard Mother’s voice. Did she come by?” Fearing she had misheard, Hanxue asked to be sure.
Luo Yan: “Yes, that boy Wen Liang is here. I’ll go out first. You take your time, no rush.”
Hanxue looked at Luo Yan. These past two days, Luo Yan felt very different, but her current state made Hanxue feel very secure. “Mhm, okay.”
Seeing her wife’s obedient look, Luo Yan gave her a light kiss on the lips before heading out.
After Luo Yan left, Li Hanxue shyly pulled the blanket over her head. After a moment, she got up to wash and dress.
When Luo Yan saw Wen Liang, she said directly, “I didn’t expect you to come today, and so early at that.” Not bad, kid!
Wen Liang: “For an apprenticeship, one must be early.” Yesterday, Master’s painting was extraordinary. He couldn’t miss such a great opportunity.
Luo Yan: “Very good.” She turned to her mother. “Mother, have you eaten breakfast?”
Mother Luo: “I have. I met this child just after I finished.” He looks like a good, decent boy.
Luo Yan noticed Wen Liang had brought gifts.
“Why did you bring things with you?”
Wen Liang: “These were prepared by my parents. Master, you must accept them.” After he told them about Master’s skills yesterday, his father insisted he study hard.
Who was Luo Yan? Of course, she accepted them graciously! Hahaha…
“Since you put it that way, I’ll take them.” Looking at the quality of the gifts, Wen Liang’s family seemed to be doing quite well.
Wen Liang: “Yes, Master.” He was happy that Luo Yan was so straightforward. He felt certain he had made the right choice and that Master would teach him well.
Luo Yan: “Did you bring tea?” There were no tea leaves at home!
Wen Liang: “I did.” Does Master love drinking tea?
(Internal monologue: No, she only loves milk tea!)
Luo Yan: “Take it out then. I’ll go boil some water.”
After a while, the water was ready. Li Hanxue had also gotten up and sat down beside Luo Yan.
Luo Yan: “Are you hungry?”
Li Hanxue: “Not very.” She was surprised Luo Yan asked about her hunger first. However, Wen Liang really did arrive early.
Luo Yan: “Then we’ll eat after this boy finishes his apprenticeship ceremony.”
Luo Yan took the tea leaves her disciple brought and brewed a pot. No matter what, there had to be a sense of ceremony.
In the living room, Li Hanxue poured three cups of tea. Mother Luo sat in the center of the hall, with Luo Yan and Li Hanxue sitting on one side.
Luo Yan: “Since this is an apprenticeship, we can’t skip the process! Let’s begin.” Her voice was solemn to show this was not a joke.
Wen Liang performed three kowtows. Luo Yan said, “Rise!” Wen Liang stood up and called out, “Master.”
Luo Yan: “Mhm. Serve tea to your Mistress and my mother. No need to kneel, but you must bow.” Polite, but not excessive.
Wen Liang served tea to the Mistress. When he got to Mother Luo, Luo Yan had him call her “Auntie” first. She figured once they were closer, he could change the title.
Luo Yan: “The ceremony is over. Prepare the tables and chairs. We’re going outside to paint my house.” In order for the boy to have something to take back, she had to give him his first lesson today.
Wen Liang was thrilled. He didn’t expect the first lesson so soon! He actively moved the furniture outside.
Luo Yan: “Begin. Paint my house according to your own perspective.” She would paint as well; Wen Liang was her first disciple, and she couldn’t lose face.
Mother Luo: “Xiao Xue, let’s go watch from the side.” She had no idea her daughter was so good at painting and wanted to see for herself.
Hanxue: “Okay, Mother.”
Painting the house was quick; both finished fast. When Wen Liang finished and wanted to see his Master’s work, he found she was already watching him.
“Master, how long did it take you to finish?” He had painted quite fast, yet Master was faster!
Luo Yan: “Just one stroke faster than you.” Wen Liang’s scenery was already quite good, but it was just a painting—it didn’t grab the viewer’s attention. He needed more practice, and she needed to arrange that.
Wen Liang: “May I see yours, Master?”
Luo Yan: “Of course. Here, look.”
When Wen Liang held the painting, he was utterly shocked. Master’s skill at painting houses was a marvel! The strokes were clean—many done in a single pass. The house seemed to have the breath of life; one could feel the happiness of the people living inside.
Wen Liang: “How did you do it?! Master, how did you do it?” Too incredible.
Luo Yan couldn’t answer that question yet. He wouldn’t understand until he reached a certain level of realization.
Luo Yan: “Do you know other styles?” She figured in ancient times there was only ink wash painting.
Wen Liang: “Other styles? Disciple does not understand. Please enlighten me, Master.” He had never even heard of other styles.
Luo Yan: “It’s nothing. I will teach you everything. I will paint now; you just watch from the side.”
Wen Liang: “Yes, Master.”
Li Hanxue also hadn’t expected that when Luo Yan said she would paint the house, she would truly capture the “feeling” of a home.
Mother Luo: “It really is painted well.” Truly good.
Li Hanxue: “Yes, Mother. Husband paints exceptionally well.” There were likely few people in the world at this level.
Luo Yan: “Do you see my intention in painting like this?” She had broken Wen Liang’s painting down into five analytical sketches. She wanted him to see how she normally approached a piece to help him learn faster.
Wen Liang: “I see. Master took my painting and recreated it almost identically, but broke it into five parts. Master, how is this possible?”
It was terrifying; a painting could actually be done this way.
Luo Yan: “It’s not hard. Four words: Imitate and practice more. I assume you’ve seen many paintings and imitated them at first too?”
Wen Liang: “Yes, Master.” It was true; painting was not easy, and he had puzzled through it bit by bit on his own.
Luo Yan: “Mhm. Today’s homework is to go back and paint your own house. Don’t just paint the structure; paint the feeling of your home in your heart.”
Wen Liang: “Yes, Master.”
Luo Yan: “I haven’t carved a seal yet. This afternoon I’ll go to the market with you to buy one. You take my painting today back with you as a reference.”
Wen Liang: “Master, I brought a seal for you. Also, Disciple forgot to ask Master one thing.” Master hadn’t mentioned tuition fees yet, so he thought it best to bring it up.
Luo Yan: “What is it?” Good kid, he even brought a seal. She just needed to carve her name.
Wen Liang: “Master, what about the tuition fees?”
Hahaha, Wen Liang was an honest person.
Luo Yan: “I won’t charge you for now, but I will teach you well. I won’t nag you either; you must discipline yourself. If you can persist for half a year and can earn money through your paintings, then come and pay me. As for the amount, just give me whatever the standard rate for teachers is at that time.”
Author’s Note:
Author: The painting is quite good.
Luo Yan: When can we share a bed? Give me a straight answer!!
Author: …Just teach your disciple well.
Luo Yan: I’m going on strike! This is unjust!
Author: …Soon, soon.
