After Transmigrating into a Book, I Turned the Straight Bigshot Gay (BL) - Chapter 13
The next day, Xie Yunshen performed his morning training as usual. After showering and eating, he headed to the dining room to change shifts.
Today, he was determined to arrive before Yi Wuyi.
However, as per tradition, Yi Wuyi was already there—one step ahead, as serious and professional as ever.
Xie Yunshen walked over and whispered, “Old Five, do you live in the ceiling or something?” Otherwise, how did he manage to appear so out of nowhere every single time?
Yi Wuyi actually glanced up at the ceiling. Sensing that Xie Yunshen was using humor to help him relax after the previous night’s events, he offered a small smile, signaling he was perfectly fine.
After breakfast, Yan Shiqi headed to the company. Seven black sedans were already parked at the entrance, all meticulously modified by the security firm. Ever since the attack at the tunnel, the Yan residence had been under high-intensity alert.
The security firm was even more paranoid; they were practically suffering from PTSD. Today, they had deployed five escort vehicles alone. It was rumored that the Yan family had signed a contract worth over a hundred million with this firm. If anything happened to Yan Shiqi during the contract period, the damages the firm would have to pay were unimaginable.
“Old Five, let me have the passenger seat later, okay?”
Last night, while acting as the Bigshot’s “white noise machine,” his arm had grown sore. Combined with only two or three hours of sleep before his morning workout, Xie Yunshen was feeling it. He decided to slack off in the passenger seat today and catch a nap.
Given the current formation, it was impossible for the villains to cause trouble on the road. Besides, Old Five was there.
“Then where do I sit?”
“We’ll swap.”
Yi Wuyi thought about it with great difficulty. “But I don’t really want to sit next to Mr. Yan.”
It was one thing in the office or the study, but in the enclosed, quiet, narrow space of a car, fighting for the same patch of air as Mr. Yan felt like a natural offense. If their gazes accidentally met, it would be pure agony. He could hardly imagine the terrifying atmosphere.
Xie Yunshen looked at him, slightly bewildered. Hey… where did that “bravely facing death” energy go from when you left with Yan Shizhou yesterday? Is Mr. Yan really scarier than that lunatic Yan Shizhou?
“The main thing is I’m sleep-deprived from last night,” Xie Yunshen said, referring to the powerball incident.
Yi Wuyi, however, assumed Xie was exhausted from running around to save him the night before. His conscience won out. “I’ll swap with you.”
Xie Yunshen cocked an eyebrow in thanks. But is that “going to the battlefield” expression on your face for real?
When they reached the luxury sedan, Xie Yunshen skillfully opened the door for Yan Shiqi and then headed to the passenger seat in a great mood. Finally, he could fish for some sleep in peace.
The moment he closed the passenger door, Xie Yunshen felt a pair of eyes on his back. He shifted his gaze to the rearview mirror and, unsurprisingly, saw those dark orbs staring right at him. This unique brand of deterrence was the “gaze bullet” of the Head of the Yan Family. It felt like a gunshot.
Startled, Xie Yunshen reached out and silently adjusted the mirror until those terrifying eyes were no longer visible.
Close your eyes and sleep. How can I protect our Bigshot if I don’t sleep well?
The driver watched in horror as Xie tilted the mirror toward himself. Consequently, the driver secretly tilted it back. By then, Xie Yunshen had already fallen asleep. Naturally, he had no room for resistance.
They arrived at the company without incident. The moment the driver tapped the brakes, Xie Yunshen’s eyes snapped open, fully charged. He jumped out to open the door for Yan Shiqi.
As Yan Shiqi stepped out, he glanced at Xie Yunshen but said nothing. Yi Wuyi opened the door on the other side as if he were opening a prison gate rather than a car door.
As they entered the building, Yi Wuyi whispered a warning: “You were sleeping in the car. Mr. Yan saw everything.”
Xie Yunshen realized he had been betrayed by the driver. “I specifically moved the mirror.”
Yi Wuyi felt the weight of their fate. “Next time this happens, let’s ask Uncle Zhao to send an extra car.”
Earlier, when Xie Yunshen sat in the passenger seat, Mr. Yan’s expression had been visibly “off.”
“No, that’s no good. We should just banish the driver to the back seat,” Xie Yunshen said firmly. The driver, currently parking the car, suddenly felt a cold shiver down his spine.
As they passed a nearby office, they could see Yan Shizhou through the glass doors. He was already at work. Xie Yunshen raised an eyebrow; this was rare. Yan Shizhou usually wasn’t this early.
However, while Yan Shizhou was a spoiled rich kid, the novel mentioned he was a top student who had graduated from an elite university. Perhaps because of this, no matter how “crooked” he became, Yan Shiqi never gave up on him.
Yan Shiqi paused at the door, seemingly surprised by Yan Shizhou’s sudden diligence. A deep look flashed in Yi Wuyi’s eyes, his thoughts unknown. Once the group moved on, Yan Shizhou looked up from his desk, caught a glimpse of Yi Wuyi’s retreating back, and then lowered his head to continue working.
An exquisite invitation with gold-leaf cutouts sat on Yan Shiqi’s desk.
“Mr. Yan, an invitation from the Zhu family. They are requesting your presence at Old Mrs. Zhu’s birthday celebration.”
Yan Shiqi picked up the card, a shadow crossing his brow. The Zhu family was already a puppet of the Top Star Sect and had never had much interaction with the Yan family. Furthermore, the Yan Group had recently outshone them at the bidding conference. Sending an invitation now was either to test the waters of the new Head or for some other ulterior motive.
Old Mrs. Zhu was turning ninety this year and held significant prestige in the Southern Province. The banquet invited all Five Families and various celebrities; it would be difficult for Yan Shiqi to decline.
Xie Yunshen watched as Yan Shiqi stared at the invitation in silence for a long time. The sunlight fell on him alone, making the lapel chain on his suit sparkle. At a time like this, every step required caution.
As a reader, Xie Yunshen knew that while the Zhu family acted as obedient puppets, they had been living in the shadow of the Top Star Sect for years and desperately wanted to escape. But the Five Families were internally divided—a heap of loose sand. Only the Yan Group had the strength to lead, but the previous Yan patriarch had been a staunch believer in the Sect.
It was only after Yan Shiqi took over that the Zhu family saw a glimmer of hope. This event was a plot by the villains against the Yan Group, but it was also the Zhu family’s final struggle to get a clear signal from Yan Shiqi.
Xie Yunshen knew this, but Yan Shiqi had many layers of concern. It must be lonely to have no one to consult with.
“What do you think? Should I go?” Yan Shiqi looked up at them. To be precise, his gaze was fixed on Xie Yunshen.
Is he asking me?
While this was an opportunity, it was also a risk. The Zhu banquet would be fraught with danger.
Xie Yunshen spoke: “If Mr. Yan wants to go, then go. Old Five and I will protect you.”
He knew Yan Shiqi had already made up his mind. Yi Wuyi looked at Xie Yunshen, and despite having his perception of him refreshed multiple times, he couldn’t hide the surprise in his eyes.
Is this really the same Xie Yunshen I knew?
