Summary
Synopsis:
Jian Anmian has transmigrated as the “sickly beauty” protagonist of a tragic novel. In the original story, the protagonist is tormented physically and mentally by the male lead’s stepmother, white moonlight, childhood friend, nephew, secretary, and various manipulative “green tea” characters. Eventually, he dies in the male lead’s arms.
The male lead, overcome with regret, follows him to the grave—a double-death “Bad Ending.”
Jian Anmian checks the timeline and realizes there are still many years before his scheduled death. He sluggishly rubs his eyes: So sleepy… I’ll sleep for a bit first. When the time comes, please wake me up so I can go die. Thanks… zZZ.
Yan Zhimuo has “awakened.” He discovers he is the scumbag male lead of a sadistic novel, destined to torture the protagonist before they both die. Yan Zhimuo decisively pulls out a divorce agreement and thrusts a pen into Jian Anmian’s hand.
As long as he stays away from the protagonist, he won’t die.
“Sign this, we’re divorcing immediately—”
Clack. The pen falls to the floor.
Jian Anmian shrinks into his blanket, startled. Peeking out with cautious, timid eyes, he whispers: “S-sorry, Mr. Yan… I seem to have run out of energy. Can you wait for me to ‘recharge’ for a bit?”
Yan Zhimuo silently picks up the pen: “…Never mind. We’ll talk after you wake up.”
When the male lead’s stepmother comes looking for trouble, Jian Anmian—crippled by social anxiety—cracks the door open just a sliver and whispers a tiny “Hello.”
The stepmother looks at his layers of thick clothing with disgust and rips off the special mask he wears to block out scents. “Meeting your elders dressed like a beggar? Is this your upbringing?”
The moment Jian Anmian smells her perfume, his skin breaks out in allergic red spots and he collapses to the ground.
“Mianmian!” Yan Zhimuo rushes over, eyes bloodshot with rage. He shoves the stepmother aside, scoops up Jian Anmian, and roars: “What did you do to him?!”
Stepmother: “?” I didn’t even have time to— No, I didn’t do anything!
Jian Anmian weakly grabs Yan Zhimuo’s arm, his eyes red and swollen, struggling to breathe: “It’s… it’s not Mom’s fault. It’s just me…”
“Say no more, I understand.” Yan Zhimuo kisses Jian Anmian’s eyelids and turns a cold gaze toward the stepmother: “I no longer have a mother.”
Stepmother: “???”
Later, Yan Zhimuo spends every day coaxing Jian Anmian to go outside for fresh air, terrified that—just like in the original story—Jian Anmian will close his eyes one day and never wake up again.
“Baby, wake up. Please don’t sleep anymore. Let’s go out and get some exercise, okay?”
“I don’t want to go out!” Tears fall like pearls as Jian Anmian clings softly to Yan Zhimuo’s neck. “Can we… ‘exercise’ a different way?”
Yan Zhimuo’s Adam’s apple bobs: “…But the doctor said you need sunlight to help absorb calcium.”
Jian Anmian’s face turns beet red. Biting his lip, he whispers: “We can do it by the floor-to-ceiling window…”
Yan Zhimuo: “…”
Damn it, no man could resist this!
And so, they “sunbathed” by the window.
