After Transmigrating into the Book, I Bent the Heroine O - Chapter 10
While Shu Minglan went to brew the tea, He Lingxing sprayed herself with various necessary scents and, as a final precaution, downed a bottle of the suppressant oral liquid she had purchased earlier.
Suppressant oral liquid wasn’t as potent as an injection, but for an adult, frequent use of heavy suppressants to stifle one’s nature could cause irreversible physical damage. As the slightly bitter liquid slid down her throat, He Lingxing let out a long sigh, feeling as though the pathways of her body had turned a bit cooler.
She really was “silently sacrificing” far too much for Shu Minglan.
Once she confirmed everything was in order, He Lingxing swapped her low-heeled leather shoes for slippers and leisurely strolled toward the female Omega bathhouse.
It took a few minutes for the sprays to take full effect. During that time, He Lingxing reflected on the upcoming plot. According to the script, a very important phase was approaching—the busiest time of all.
Because the original host was merely a cannon-fodder character, the script’s descriptions of her were sparse, mostly glossing over her details.
She only knew that “she” would later attempt to bribe someone, only to be reported, fail miserably, and be disciplined by the higher-ups. Originally, the host was a wealthy heiress, but her relationship with her family was at rock bottom, and they had gradually cut ties.
Her management of the company had never been great. Without family support, the company’s resources had been depleted. It was now a hollow shell, a building on the verge of collapse. Later, the host was supposed to launch a talent show project, hoping to save the company by forming a girl group, but that too ended in failure.
However, in He Lingxing’s eyes, there was nothing inherently wrong with the girl group plan. The failure was described vaguely in the script—it only mentioned that a rival company poached her talent and launched a similar project first, leaving her with no way out.
He Lingxing had been busy with that very girl group project lately, currently in the recruitment stage.
In truth, if she could dig into the host’s past failures to learn from them, this move would be much easier. Unfortunately, there were too few descriptions of “He Lingxing” to use as a reference; she had to figure it out step by step on her own.
He Lingxing didn’t like being a “salted fish” (useless person) who achieved nothing. She didn’t want to just play matchmaker for the leads and then slink back in failure. Since she had taken over this mission, she intended to at least prop the company back up.
While she was lost in thought, the sound of a successful fingerprint entry chirped.
Shu Minglan entered wearing a bathrobe. A snow-white sash outlined her slender, willow-like waist. The robe reached her calves, but the upper portion hung loosely.
The tea in the two transparent glass cups wobbled slightly with her movements but didn’t spill. Under the dim light, the woman’s delicate hand held out the tea. The rose petals had been carefully torn into pieces, floating atop the pale yellow liquid.
He Lingxing took a sip, placed the cup on a floating tray, and let her gaze drift “casually” toward the cup in Shu Minglan’s hand.
She had heard the sayings “A beauty looks better under a lamp” and “White mourning clothes add three points of charm.” She hadn’t paid them much mind before, but now she was beginning to understand their meaning.
The soft lighting was like a cold, waning moon outside, reflecting off the hot spring water in fine, shimmering ripples that swayed back and forth. Long hair, as black as raven feathers, was partially submerged and dampened by the water, and her sweet features were bathed in a gentle, pearly glow.
The distance between them was within a safe range. Shu Minglan’s shoulders were slightly pulled back. She took a sip of her tea and let out a breath. In the next moment, finding her opening, He Lingxing acted as if she weren’t paying attention and picked up Shu Minglan’s cup to take a sip as well.
Shu Minglan’s clear, cool gaze landed on her.
He Lingxing’s shoulder gave an imperceptible twitch. Bracing herself, she pretended to be natural and took several more gulps.
She wasn’t a germaphobe. While contact with a stranger might be a bit uncomfortable, facing a vivid beauty like Shu Minglan, few people would feel any genuine repulsion. The sweet, mellow taste of white peach oolong tea lingered on her tongue, and the pleasant aroma traveled straight to her nose.
Shu Minglan’s eyes showed a hint of surprise, but she quickly let it go. It was normal for people of the same gender to share a cup of water, especially since He Lingxing gave her a sense of being somewhat over-familiar—she never quite knew what mysterious schemes were running through the CEO’s head.
Feeling that the water seemed unusually hot today, Shu Minglan silently moved a bit to the side, trying to keep her distance and avoid conversation. A subtle but safe social distance remained between the two women as the water rose and fell in quiet waves.
Only one task remained. He Lingxing took a deep breath, feeling a heavy, restless heat in the air.
Looking at the beautiful long hair that completely covered the back of Shu Minglan’s neck, He Lingxing felt like retreating. Minor pranks were one thing, but knowing the biological differences between Alphas and Omegas, touching someone’s gland crossed her moral line. She was currently a fake Omega—in reality, she was an Alpha. Deliberately touching someone else’s gland was an act of extreme harassment.
She pondered for a moment, unable to bring herself to do it. Just as she was about to ask the System if she could swap the task, Shu Minglan—who had been soaking quietly in the distance—suddenly changed expression. She turned and charged directly toward He Lingxing!
Splash!
The sound of approaching footsteps outside was drowned out by the frantic splashing of her struggle. In the moment He Lingxing instinctively went to push her away, the soft, fragrant scent of the Omega stuck to her olfactory nerves like honey, making her legs feel inexplicably weak.
Something strange seemed to be floating in the water over there. Shu Minglan, trembling all over, somehow found the strength to leap through the water and jump right onto He Lingxing.
He Lingxing barely managed to steady herself while hooking her arms around the woman’s slender waist. At the same time, she swept her long leg through the water, kicking a grey, electric “water snake” toy to the side. The softness of the woman’s body was pressed firmly against her front; only after Shu Minglan saw the true nature of the “snake” did she relax her grip slightly.
“You’re afraid of snakes?”
No matter how light Shu Minglan was, she was still an adult weighing over 45kg. The strength of her legs wrapped around He Lingxing’s waist, combined with her trembling, was almost too much for He Lingxing to handle. Specifically, her own weakening limbs felt as if they were buzzing with tiny, numbing currents of electricity.
The question had just left her mouth when:
【Synchronization successful. Host, please deliver the line immediately to maintain the persona!】
The shivering woman in her arms looked much better, though her face was now flushed a deep red. Realizing her loss of composure, she hurriedly tried to jump down.
To keep her from slipping, He Lingxing didn’t fully release Shu Minglan’s waist. She leaned her lips close to the woman’s ear. As Shu Minglan gave a slow nod of embarrassment, He Lingxing’s warm breath carried the line:
“Bitches are just so melodramatic.”
