After Transmigrating into the Book, I Bent the Heroine O - Chapter 3
The next day.
The script Shu Minglan received this time was for the second female lead in a modern criminal investigation film. The script was actually quite good, and the director was well-known in the industry. Although crime procedurals were a niche genre, they had shown signs of picking up in recent years; a well-made one could easily become a hit.
It was a “no-romance” movie. Her co-star was a male Alpha with a great reputation who played her teammate; there were no ambiguous or intimate scenes throughout the entire shoot. However, Shu Minglan’s heat was due soon. Knowing there were many Alphas on set, she brought some suppressants just in case.
Her first scene was being filmed right here in the city.
On the way to the set in the nanny van, surrounded by her own staff, Sister Bai nagged her incessantly. It was the usual talk: telling her to please Director Jia to secure more screen time for herself.
Shu Minglan was beyond annoyed, but she couldn’t lash out. She simply complied with everything submissively, acting like a temperless kitten rather than a person.
Sister Bai smirked with satisfaction and patted Shu Minglan’s thin shoulder.
When she first chose Shu Minglan, she had been drawn to this Omega’s personality—she was obedient to a fault. No matter how much she was wronged, she could be smoothed over with a few comforting words. For years, Sister Bai had kept her quietly under her thumb.
Previously, she had let other artists under her wing carve up Shu Minglan’s resources, and Shu Minglan hadn’t said a word. This time, Sister Bai had pushed her luck by asking her to sell her body, and she hadn’t expected Shu Minglan to agree so easily.
There really aren’t many clean birds in the entertainment industry, Sister Bai thought. She looks like a pure little white flower, but deep down, Shu Minglan is probably thrilled I’m introducing her to Director Jia.
A glint of resentment flashed in Shu Minglan’s eyes for a split second before vanishing, replaced by her usual gentle and approachable mask.
…
“Minglan, do that movement again! Male Actor Three, your teammate is on a mission—where should your eyes be? You should be staring fixedly at Shu Minglan and going in to help! How can you be so careless during a mission?”
“Are you even an Alpha? That Omega’s action scenes are better than yours! Again!”
The general director, Zhu Wei, scanned the actors, constantly barking orders to meet his high standards. Meanwhile, the female Alpha sitting next to him, Jia Qimei, stared unblinkingly at Shu Minglan with undisguised heat in her eyes.
Omegas generally have less stamina than Alphas or Betas, but as a high-level Omega, Shu Minglan was much better off—at least comparable to a Beta. The previous action sequence required a wire-work backflip, which was difficult for anyone without professional training.
Shu Minglan performed it beautifully on the first try. Her slender waist acted as the core of her strength, completing the move even better than the Alpha supporting actor.
Shu Minglan wore a fitted police uniform that had been slightly modified to accentuate her narrow waist. Watching that silhouette wrapped in black, and thinking about how she would soon surrender to her pheromones, Jia Qimei felt her heart flutter.
She had secretly gone to the hospital for a pheromone compatibility test. The report showed a 68% compatibility rate between her and Shu Minglan’s cherry blossom scent. Shu Minglan was a top-tier Omega—a “flavor” she had never tasted before.
While Jia Qimei was lost in her fantasies, the director’s voice rang out:
“Cut—Pass! Good work, everyone. Get some rest; we have a 5:30 AM shoot tomorrow.”
It was now past 10:00 PM.
“Everyone, get back to the hotel and rest. If you need anything, you can come find me,” Jia Qimei said, standing up and smiling brightly. She deliberately emphasized the last few words, her gaze drifting toward Shu Minglan, whose expression remained indifferent.
Sister Bai tapped Shu Minglan’s shoulder, signaling her to head to Director Jia’s room immediately and not keep her waiting.
“Director Jia spoke with CEO He about this. They’re friends. Minglan, if you serve her well, you won’t lack for resources in the future.”
Shu Minglan said tonelessly, “I know.”
But the resentment and bitterness in her heart were becoming uncontrollable.
He Lingxing!
Everything was happening exactly as the “script” in her head predicted. Since the day she entered this company, she had been bullied and suppressed by her manager. Even when she tried to resist, the outcome was always the same—until she suddenly had a dream. Everything in that dream was identical to what happened later.
Several events from that dream had already come true.
In the dream, Director Jia Qimei, who had long lusted after her, tried to use “unspoken rules” on her. Although it ultimately failed due to an accident, the reason a second-tier director like Jia dared to target her was that her boss, He Lingxing, was pulling the strings.
That high-and-mighty CEO He.
In the original timeline, Director Jia didn’t succeed, but a male Alpha would later appear. Following an accidental marking, Shu Minglan would become hopelessly devoted to him, doing anything for him until she met her end.
She remembered that He Lingxing was also an Omega who had long been in love with that male Alpha. Therefore, she loathed Shu Minglan for having sparked the male Alpha’s interest. This setup with Director Jia was He Lingxing’s handiwork—designed to have Shu Minglan “ruined” by Director Jia.
Shu Minglan’s nails dug deep into her palms.
Even though she had zero interest in that Alpha named Murong Feng, it didn’t mean she was a soft bun who would let people bully her in silence. This woman’s schemes were deep and vicious; she and He Lingxing would be enemies from now on.
“I’ll go back and shower first.”
Hiding all the hatred in her eyes, Shu Minglan maintained her obedient appearance. Jia Qimei walked closer to her, chuckled, and gave her what she thought was a dashing wink.
There were three soft knocks on the door. To Jia Qimei, they sounded like a melody.
She hid a small spray bottle in the sleeve of her pajamas and tugged her collar down slightly to reveal some skin. The room was filled with the scent of her “Foxtail Lily” pheromones—not aggressive, but rich and fragrant.
Shu Minglan showered pretty fast, she thought. She probably says no but means yes. Cold and chaste on the outside, but probably dying for me to mark her.
Caressing her own warm gland, Jia Qimei slowly opened the door.
A slender figure, taller than her, stood before her.
Jia Qimei froze, and before she could process it, the person stepped inside and shut the door.
Perhaps it was the law of “same-gender repulsion” in the ABO world, but even though she was covered in “Peach Blossom Snow” perfume, He Lingxing felt a wave of annoyance the moment she smelled the Foxtail Lily pheromones. She felt a sudden urge to release her own pheromones to crush the other person.
The soft scent of Foxtail Lily might be nice for an Omega, but for an Alpha, it lacked any edge. To He Lingxing, this “weak Alpha” was nothing.
Taller and more imposing in her heels, He Lingxing showed no mercy. Before Jia Qimei could react, He Lingxing grabbed her hand and snatched the spray bottle hidden in her sleeve.
After playing with it for a moment and reading the label, He Lingxing looked down with a mocking smile.
“Omega-specific heat inducer? You’re even using aphrodisiacs. What are you planning—rape?”
“No!”
Jia Qimei clearly hadn’t expected her “romantic encounter” to take this turn. For some reason, even though she knew He Lingxing was an Omega, the moment she looked into He Lingxing’s eyes, her lust vanished, replaced by pure panic.
“If you weren’t planning anything, what is this for?”
Jia Qimei was speechless. In her panic, she tried to counter-attack: “Why are you even here?”
“I had business with Director Zhu. I heard some rumors on the way, so I came to visit an ‘old friend’ like you.”
The small bottle of heat inducer swayed between He Lingxing’s slender fingers. Every word she spoke felt like a strike to Jia Qimei’s heart. “You’ve got quite the nerve, Jia Qimei.”
The woman lowered her head, silent.
In truth, He Lingxing had checked last night: the original host hadn’t actually contacted Jia Qimei. She had just “pushed the boat with the current” by having her people drop hints to Shu Minglan’s manager that she could send the actress to Jia’s bed.
Thus, Jia Qimei had no idea what He Lingxing’s actual stance was. The manager’s claim that “CEO He and Director Jia are friends” was just a lie to pressure Shu Minglan. In reality, they were just old acquaintances—hardly even friends.
He Lingxing had no intention of taking the fall for the original host. Since those actions weren’t hers, she wasn’t going to let herself be the villain.
Seeing that Jia Qimei wouldn’t speak, He Lingxing gripped the bottle and turned to leave. But the moment her fingers touched the door handle, a surge of Foxtail Lily scent flooded her senses.
A hand landed on her shoulder, and fingers slowly groped toward the gland at the back of He Lingxing’s neck. The warm breath of an Alpha brushed her cheek as Jia Qimei’s eyes burned with a mix of anger and lust.
“Xingxing…”
Just as Jia Qimei leaned in to bite He Lingxing’s gland, her vision suddenly flipped. The entire room spun in a massive arc, and her back slammed heavily onto the floor.
She gasped in pain. Before she could speak, she was hauled up by her collar, forced to look into He Lingxing’s clear, beautiful eyes.
The woman’s words cut like knives, her breathing not even slightly labored:
“Don’t call me by my nickname. You make me sick. And for the record—I have no interest in women.”
