After Unbinding the Simp System, I'm Targeted by the Villain - Chapter 6
The dim, suggestive lighting of the bar hit Yu Chucheng’s face, sending a wave of dizziness through him.
He shook his head forcefully, but instead of gaining clarity, the world spun even faster. His chest felt as if it were pinned under a massive boulder, making it nearly impossible to draw a full breath.
Ji Zhou quickly stepped forward to steady him.
While they were sitting and talking, Ji Zhou hadn’t seen Yu Chucheng’s face clearly since he was turned sideways. Now, under the overhead lights, he realized Yu Chucheng’s lips were deathly pale. Despite the alcohol he’d consumed, there wasn’t a hint of a flush on his face; instead, a fine layer of cold sweat had instantly broken out on his forehead.
“Hey, what’s wrong with you? Is it because the differentiation is still unstable?” Back in school, Ji Zhou had followed the rules and never dated. Honestly, he had Yu Chucheng to thank for that—otherwise, he’d never have been this close to an Omega in his life.
This was the first time Ji Zhou had encountered such a situation. He held Yu Chucheng, feeling completely out of his depth, but he quickly regained his composure and called Yu Jingchen.
Yu Jingchen doted on his brother more than anyone. Within fifteen minutes of receiving the call, he arrived at the bar.
When he handed Yu Chucheng over, Ji Zhou felt a bit guilty. Compared to Yu Jingchen, they were still green—like kids who went out to play, got into trouble, and were caught by a parent.
Fortunately, Yu Jingchen didn’t scold him. “Thank you for informing me, and for looking after him.”
By now, Yu Chucheng had been taken to the car. In that short window of time, Yu Jingchen had actually dragged the family doctor along; the doctor was currently in the car feeding Yu Chucheng a nutritional supplement.
Ji Zhou waved his hands frantically. “No, no, Brother Chen, don’t say that. This is on me. I knew he just woke up today, and I still invited him to a place like this. But… what exactly is the situation with him?”
Yu Jingchen: “I’m not entirely sure of the specifics yet, but I have one question for you.”
Ji Zhou: “Ask away. I’ll tell you everything I know.”
The words had barely left his mouth when Yu Jingchen spoke coldly, “Do you know who bit my brother?”
Ji Zhou: “…”
Is it too late to take back what I just said?
Yu Chucheng had indeed told him everything about that night at the internet cafe, including the guy’s name. But looking at Yu Chucheng’s reaction, he didn’t seem to hate the person; he’d even added him on WeChat and was having very “private” conversations.
Although Ji Zhou was a bit intimidated by Yu Jingchen, Yu Chucheng was the friend he shared a bed with—metaphorically speaking. Since Yu Chucheng hadn’t told his brother himself, Ji Zhou couldn’t be the one to spill the beans.
“I—I really don’t know. He was just complaining to me about the secondary differentiation, and then this happened before he could say anything else.” Ji Zhou channeled every ounce of his acting ability, forcing himself not to blink suspiciously.
Yu Jingchen scrutinized him for a few seconds. Unable to tell if he was lying, he let it go for now and took Yu Chucheng home.
“How is he?”
The moment they were in the car, Yu Jingchen asked about Yu Chucheng’s condition.
The doctor pushed up his glasses. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. He just went through secondary differentiation, so his glands and senses are highly sensitive. A bar is full of messy, clashing pheromones; the Second Young Master was simply overstimulated by being in there too long. Plus, while differentiation sounds easy, it’s physically exhausting. He just needs to go home, get a good night’s sleep, and nourish his body.”
Yu Jingchen’s shoulders dropped almost imperceptibly. “Good.”
After that incident, Yu Jingchen had a valid excuse to keep his brother at home to rest.
Yu Chucheng had previously insisted that Yu Jingchen stay out of his business, and knowing he was in the wrong for hiding things from his brother, he stayed home peacefully.
But after only a few days, Yu Chucheng saw the documents a maid handed him and spat out his tea.
“What on earth is this?!”
The maid held a thick stack of papers. Every page was densely packed with text, and at the top of each was a photo—it looked exactly like a pile of resumes.
“Chengcheng, Mama picked these out carefully for you. These are all Alphas with a compatibility rating of over 80%. See if there’s anyone you like?”
Mrs. Yu walked over gracefully, cradling her cat.
Yu Chucheng flipped through the papers in shock. The photos weren’t ID shots; they looked like professional portraits. The men were each more muscular than the last. The sheer amount of biceps and shirtless mirror-selfies was giving Yu Chucheng “aesthetic fatigue.”
“Mom, I just differentiated. Are you trying to pour me out like water already?” Yu Chucheng pouted and complained in a low voice, “Besides, I like cute ones…”
Even though he was now the one on the “bottom,” the soul inside this Omega shell was still that of a straight guy from before the transmigration. He felt like he still liked girls.
Mrs. Yu sat down beside him. “What nonsense are you talking about? You’re only nineteen; how could Mama bear to marry you off so soon?”
The expression on Yu Chucheng’s face turned quite strange at the mention of being “married off.”
Mrs. Yu continued, stroking her cat, “These people are highly compatible with you. Experts say that after a secondary differentiation, you need to be well-cared for. You’ll likely experience your first ‘heat’ in about a month. The first heat after a secondary differentiation is extremely painful and difficult; even suppressants won’t help. Mama doesn’t want you to suffer, which is why I brought these people to help ease the process.”
Mrs. Yu spent most of her time abroad; both she and Mr. Yu were the kind of open-minded, worldly parents. Plus, with modern medical technology, even if things “misfired” and he was permanently marked, they could throw enough money at it to have the mark removed without Yu Chucheng feeling any pain.
To sum it up: as long as their son was comfortable, anything goes.
Yu Chucheng, realizing his mother’s “good intentions,” felt his vision go dark. He felt like his “purity” was in imminent danger.
“Mom, don’t worry about me. I’m a grown man. It’s just a little heat cycle. I can pull through it even without suppressants by sheer willpower. I don’t need any of this. Besides, what if these people take advantage of me while I’m vulnerable?”
Seeing that Yu Chucheng was unwilling, Mrs. Yu had the documents taken away. She gave a meaningful smile. “Suit yourself. I hope you still feel that way when your heat arrives.”
After his mother left, Yu Chucheng collapsed onto the sofa.
What a mess.
He poked a slice of apple into his mouth. As he chewed, he suddenly couldn’t remember what day it was. He picked up his phone to check—
“Pfft!”
Yu Chucheng instantly spat out the apple and bolted upright from the sofa.
Being pampered and served hand and foot for the past few days had made his brain turn to mush. He had gotten the dates mixed up—today was already Saturday.
I’m dead, I’m dead, I’m dead.
He had promised to go to the internet cafe to pick up the stuff on Friday. Duan Huaijin hadn’t even reminded him. Could he already be harboring a grudge?
Yu Chucheng ran upstairs, grabbed a random jacket from the closet, and threw it on as he headed for the door. “Auntie Chen, tell my brother and parents I won’t be back for dinner tonight!”
“Hey—Second Young Master!” Auntie Chen called out anxiously. The Eldest Young Master had specifically ordered a nutritious rib soup to be made for him. But the only reply she received was the sight of Yu Chucheng’s back as he hurried away.
