Amnesia Trap (GL) - Chapter 13
Sheng Zhi thought so, but in fact, several days passed, and she received almost no messages from Ji Qingfan.
She didn’t know what Ji Qingfan was thinking, but she, on her part, was getting incredibly twisted up, practically tying herself in knots.
The proud and temperamental young lady had countless suitors since childhood, but if she wasn’t interested, no one dared to genuinely get close to her. She was too well-protected. Countless people who tried to use dirty tricks on her at various parties had been dealt with, and none of them ever got a chance to truly appear before her eyes.
Regardless, a certain part of her had been touched by Ji Qingfan. The most direct reaction was that she became curious and planned to try kissing someone else, but forget anything more intimate; even a simple lip-to-lip gentle touch felt impossible. She was always unenthusiastic, or rather… she couldn’t help but recall the feeling of kissing Ji Qingfan.
In stark contrast to how proactive Ji Qingfan had been recently, she had been incredibly quiet for the past few days.
Sheng Zhi was so angry she nearly trashed her entire bedroom. She threw a tantrum for half the day with crashing and banging noises. Barely calming down, she sneered, thinking if Ji Qingfan could hold out, then she better not come looking for her again. Did she really think Sheng Zhi was desperate for her?
So, out of spite, she played with incredible enthusiasm. She spent her days racing on the mountain roads with friends, horseback riding, archery, and golfing. Her evenings were filled with indulgence and dissipation, always surrounded by a large group of people who treated her like a star.
The day before meeting Jiang Wanyin, Sheng Zhi had been out almost all night. She had barely slept before waking up to shower and put on makeup, and she was nearly dead with exhaustion when she got into the car.
“My dear lady, you’ve been having a crazy few days. You haven’t even replied to my messages. Honestly, did you forget that you were supposed to treat me to a meal?” Jiang Wanyin helped her buckle her seatbelt, chuckling as she joked.
“Get lost,” Sheng Zhi was grumpy with sleepiness and leaned back lazily. “You’re the only one. If it were anyone else, I wouldn’t have shown up today.”
Jiang Wanyin’s lips curled up. “Your words are sweet today. I like that, say a few more.”
It was only when Sheng Zhi opened her eyes and glared at her that Jiang Wanyin smiled, retracted her hand, and sat upright in the driver’s seat: “Alright, seeing you this exhausted, Jie Jie is touched. I won’t sponge off you today, my treat.”
The moment Sheng Zhi heard a certain word in Jiang Wanyin’s sentence, she felt irritated: “Can you stop calling yourself that? I hate hearing the word Jie Jie right now.”
Jiang Wanyin thought for a moment, then understood: “It’s Ji Qingfan, right? Is she still acting all devoted to you?”
When the question was asked, Sheng Zhi didn’t reply, but Jiang Wanyin was used to it, assuming Sheng Zhi was too disgusted with Ji Qingfan to say another word.
As the car drove, she chatted casually: “If you ask me, you shouldn’t have agreed to that one-month proposal of hers. She seems very manipulative…”
Sheng Zhi, however, suddenly interrupted: “Is that Ji Qingfan getting out of the car up ahead?”
Jiang Wanyin followed her gaze, a bit puzzled, but after recognizing her, she nodded: “It is.”
Ji Qingfan was wearing a pure white suit. The exposed skin on her neck was delicate and pale. Under the exquisitely tailored trousers were a pair of high heels. She was slender at the waist with long legs, holding herself very straight, looking coolly elegant and intellectual.
The woman who opened the car door for her was also dressed like someone from wealth or nobility. Sheng Zhi glanced at her and recognized her as the顧 (Gu) family’s hot candidate for heir, a highly educated returnee, and a tech rising star—very accomplished.
The car door closed, and the two walked into a high-end restaurant not far away, chatting and laughing.
Sheng Zhi watched the two entering and leaving the same car, looking quite intimate, and felt annoyed.
What was this? Did she feel like she couldn’t keep Sheng Zhi, so she quickly found her next fallback plan?
It wasn’t surprising that she thought this way, as Ji Qingfan was rarely seen being this close to anyone. In both work and life, she had always been a person who kept her distance, which was also the general public’s assessment of her.
Although Sheng Zhi was the one who first told Ji Qingfan to back off, seeing this scene made her feel uncomfortable.
She had the distinct feeling that something that belonged to her was being touched by someone else, even though she might not have thought about that thing when she didn’t need it.
She was the same way when she was little. Even if she didn’t play with her toys and threw them away, she wouldn’t give them to anyone. And as for the toys she wanted to play with, no one else could touch them but her. Even if she had many other toys at the same time, others couldn’t even graze them. She was incredibly domineering.
Seeing her sullen face, Jiang Wanyin looked at Ji Qingfan outside the car window and stated clearly: “Don’t pay her any mind. We’re not going to…” go the same way as them.
But before the rest of the words could be said, she heard Sheng Zhi say: “Follow them.”
Jiang Wanyin’s smile froze: “Zhi Zhi, what did you say? Did I mishear you?”
“You didn’t mishear me.” But in the time it took for those two sentences, the backs of the two women had disappeared. Sheng Zhi was getting annoyed. She saw the disbelief on Jiang Wanyin’s face but didn’t care anymore and quickly repeated: “You didn’t mishear me. I said follow them, to that restaurant they just went into.”
