Amnesia Trap (GL) - Chapter 26
After a morning of work, Sheng Zhi was so tired she almost couldn’t get up after lunch break.
She could have just walked out, not having to be a good little employee here, but the moment she met Ji Qingfan’s eyes and heard her ask if she was tired, she couldn’t help but grit her teeth and say that such a small amount of work wouldn’t tire anyone.
Ji Qingfan smiled, and so Sheng Zhi was busy all morning.
—She was starting to wonder if Ji Qingfan was asking if she was tired on purpose.
But even if it was intentional, she couldn’t stop herself from walking into the trap. Sheng Zhi always felt that if she quit and didn’t do this work, she would have lost to Ji Qingfan.
Holding onto this stubbornness, she couldn’t resist competing with her.
The end result was suffering for the sake of appearances. But no matter what, she saved face. It would be truly miserable for her to admit defeat to Ji Qingfan.
She had always been trained as an heir. Although her heart wasn’t in it, the fundamental ability was there. Her only flaw was her lack of effort, so when she put her mind to it, she did everything well.
There was a meeting scheduled after the lunch break.
Just then, Ms. Sheng Xiyi called her, asking how she was adapting to the company and telling her that if she found anything difficult, she could always go to Ji Qingfan.
Sheng Zhi: “No need. This is all a piece of cake, okay?”
Hearing her say that, Ms. Sheng Xiyi laughed, clearly disbelieving: “It’s alright. It’s already good enough that Niannian can sit steadily in the company these past two days.”
After laughing, she continued with a more serious tone, cautioning: “Listen to your Sister Ji. Don’t play any tricks. Even if I’m not there, I’ll still know what’s going on.”
After hanging up the phone, Sheng Zhi looked at the traces of her hard work all morning on the desk. Remembering Ms. Sheng Xiyi’s words, she decided to take a picture and send it to her.
She wasn’t the type to silently put in the effort. If she did something, her tail would be the first to shoot up to the sky. Success or not, she always asked for praise first.
Sheng Zhi took a few photos and clicked into the album to check which angle was best.
However, the moment she entered the album, she noticed something strange.
…What is this?
Is it a video?
Did she take it? Had she filmed something?
Sheng Zhi curiously clicked on the video. The moment she clearly saw the image on the screen, her phone slipped from her grasp and hit the table.
Her face flushed crimson. After realizing what happened, she simply flipped the phone face-down onto the desk.
She knew there was something unfamiliar about it.
Because she definitely hadn’t filmed this video.
This video must have been taken by Ji Qingfan on her phone last night!
Saying goodnight to her on the phone, then hanging up and filming this, this… thing…
Shameless, utterly shameless.
And leaving it on her phone, it was positively depraved.
Did she think leaving a video like this would entice her?
Sheng Zhi glanced sideways. The moment she thought of the content of the screen, her face flushed and her ears felt hot. Thank goodness she hadn’t opened it when there were people around…
Even now, though she was alone, she felt guilty, like a thief.
After pausing for a few seconds, Sheng Zhi, still blushing, flipped the phone back over.
She swore, she was only going to look at it one more time.
Just one glance.
There was a meeting scheduled after the lunch break.
Ji Qingfan sat at the head of the table.
Sheng Zhi, as her assistant, sat in the spot closest to Ji Qingfan.
The meeting began once everyone was present.
The video Ji Qingfan left on her phone undoubtedly affected her.
For instance, the projector was clearly on, but Sheng Zhi’s gaze couldn’t help but drift towards Ji Qingfan.
Listening to the reports, Ji Qingfan’s reserved aura was more pronounced. Her eyes behind the rimless glasses were refined and composed, her posture straight, as if every movement was measured, silently exerting pressure on people.
“Go back. This is unacceptable.”
“Fix it immediately after the meeting.”
“Continue.”
Perhaps because she had watched her act for so long, even though she knew this was Ji Qingfan’s true self, seeing her like this now made Sheng Zhi feel a few degrees of unfamiliarity towards her.
…It was genuinely hard to imagine that the incredibly seductive woman in her phone’s video and the woman sitting a few meters away from her now were like two completely different people. Even if the seductive posture in the video was fake, the impact was still significant.
The more she looked at Ji Qingfan’s current appearance, the greater the impact she felt.
The woman in the video was mature, charming, and enticing, like a perfectly ripe peach, the kind where one bite would fill her mouth with sweet, refreshing peach juice.
But the woman sitting next to her, listening to the reports, was cold, composed, and meticulous. A mere lift of her eyelids made people afraid to meet her gaze. Aside from her occasional voice and the sound of the reports, the meeting room was so quiet that a dropped pin could probably be heard.
Everyone in the meeting room sat rigidly straight. Forget slacking off; no one dared to make any small movements.
The undeniable authority figure, the boss with the “Ice-Face” nickname…
This person, this person, had left such a heart-pounding, suggestive, and lingering video on her phone.
Sheng Zhi felt an uncontrollable burning sensation creeping up her cheeks. She involuntarily swallowed.
The air conditioner was running in the room, but the low temperature still made her feel hot.
No.
She couldn’t let her thoughts wander anymore.
She couldn’t keep thinking about this.
It was just a short video. Why dwell on it?
Sheng Zhi subtly tried to refocus her attention.
Just then, she heard Ji Qingfan call her name: “Sheng Zhi.”
Ji Qingfan rarely called her name so distinctly, and rarely called her by her full, formal name like that.
It felt very different, immediately pulling her attention back.
“Focus and listen,” she said.
Her voice was clear and cool, seemingly just a reminder from a boss who couldn’t stand her employee’s distraction during work.
But beneath the meeting table, where no one could see, Sheng Zhi felt Ji Qingfan’s high heel tip turn toward her as she spoke, tracing up her calf, all the way to her ankle.
Tap.
It was as if an invisible hand had stroked her heart. A part of the back of her head tingled, and she unconsciously softened her breath.
Sheng Zhi was suddenly grateful that the meeting table had such a long tablecloth, enough to conceal the interaction between her and Ji Qingfan.
But even so, the heat that had been faintly radiating from her cheeks since earlier was fully ignited, burning so hot it felt like it was scorching her chest.
How bold.
They were still in a meeting.
How could Ji Qingfan be so daring? What if someone saw?
“…Mhm,” she replied softly, trying hard not to show any strange expression, her voice low like an employee embarrassed at being called out by her boss for zoning out.
Ji Qingfan glanced at her, then gave a slight nod to the person reporting, signaling them to continue.
The rest of the people in the meeting room watched this exchange, looking at Sheng Zhi, then at Ji Qingfan.
Thinking about the relationship between the two, they unconsciously sat up even straighter. Those who were secretly daydreaming were immediately startled back to attention, secretly thinking that CEO Ji was truly impartial.
If she was so serious with her own wife, what reason did they have to slack off?
Only Sheng Zhi was burning up now, her face and ears flushed.
She clutched her pen, looking serious, but her attention wasn’t on the meeting at all.
Her mind was full of: Why isn’t Ji Qingfan taking her leg back?
How long is she going to rub against her?
The meeting finally ended at half-past five.
But Sheng Zhi felt like she had been sitting there for a century.
Around her, people were gathering their things and pushing their chairs back, preparing to leave. Ji Qingfan stood up and walked naturally to Sheng Zhi’s side, tapping the table with her knuckle: “Don’t leave yet. Stay behind. I have something to discuss with you privately.”
Several employees who were about to leave heard this and couldn’t help but glance over.
Everyone had heard about Miss Sheng’s temper, and how much she cared about her image. Her expression had been mysterious ever since Ji Qingfan called her out for zoning out during the meeting, and CEO Ji was clearly a very dominant person…
To be honest, they were a little worried the two would start arguing.
But after noticing Ji Qingfan’s gaze, which seemed to be asking why they hadn’t left yet, everyone hastily looked away and started heading out.
Forget it. One was the company’s CEO, and the other was the Chairman’s daughter. The two also had a well-known relationship. Even if they really started arguing and tore the conference room apart, it was none of their business as employees.
Time to go, time to go.
As the last person left, the conference room door closed, and the room became quiet again.
The conference room had a one-way mirror design; people inside could see out, but people outside couldn’t see in. The door also had a control button. Sheng Zhi watched Ji Qingfan press some control key.
Immediately following was a soft click, like a lock engaging.
“Lock it first. It wouldn’t be good if we were interrupted,” she said, giving Sheng Zhi that expression she wouldn’t show to anyone else: “Zhi Zhi, did you know that many people probably thought I asked you to stay behind to criticize you?”
As if she found it amusing, Ji Qingfan curved her lips: “They might even be worried we’re going to argue.”
Sheng Zhi sat there with her arms crossed. She looked at the locked door, her gaze landing on Ji Qingfan, and she commented bluntly, “Ji Qingfan, you look like a boss who’s about to sexually harass her subordinate.”
“But… didn’t Zhi Zhi provoke me first?” She walked over, immediately wrapped her arms around Sheng Zhi’s neck, and sat on her lap: “Staring at me like that during the meeting, your gaze was so intense I couldn’t ignore it.”
She paused there for a second, then suddenly leaned closer, her breath warm as an orchid’s scent: “That video, you definitely saw it, right?”
It was better when she didn’t mention the video. When she did, Sheng Zhi recalled those lingering images.
Who was tempting whom?
“I provoked you?” Sheng Zhi didn’t answer her question. She felt Ji Qingfan was deflecting, and her beautiful voice shot up an octave: “It wasn’t CEO Ji who left a video on my phone, or who was rubbing my leg under the table during the meeting.”
“And now it’s the same, sitting right on my lap when no one’s here?”
She tilted her head slightly, meeting Ji Qingfan’s gaze.
Long-term embarrassment inevitably gave rise to genuine anger. She was angry at herself for getting flustered just from Ji Qingfan’s gentle rubbing, angry at herself for being hooked by the video she left behind and thinking about her non-stop.
This was reflected in her words and attitude, which were far from pleasant, yet not exactly the same as being genuinely angry. For example, she let Ji Qingfan lock the door, and she let her sit on her lap, she just didn’t hug her back.
These words didn’t faze Ji Qingfan at all. She spoke at a distance as if she was about to kiss her, her fingertip playing with a strand of Sheng Zhi’s hair, wrapping it around in a circle: “Then, was it pretty? Did Zhi Zhi like it?”
Ji Qingfan truly wanted to kiss her.
Or rather, the term “truly wanted to” was an understatement.
If she hadn’t tasted her, she could have endured it. But once she had a taste, she became even more addicted.
Sheng Zhi was her addiction, and also her cure.
Sheng Zhi wasn’t unaware of Ji Qingfan’s teasing. The distance between them was too close. Ji Qingfan was soft all over, rubbing against her, making the heat on her face that had just cooled down start to rise again.
The feeling of being played by Ji Qingfan became more pronounced as a result.
Ji Qingfan didn’t seem unfamiliar with any of this, always behaving with a practiced, daring, and sensual posture.
Sheng Zhi suddenly felt a little suffocated.
She curled her fingers around Ji Qingfan’s neck and said: “Stop this nonsense.”
She was waiting, waiting for Ji Qingfan to push her away when she couldn’t stand it anymore.
Clearly, Ji Qingfan’s breathing became uneven, and her words became shaky.
“You’re unhappy? Was I too much during the meeting?” Her voice grew softer, punctuated by soft moans: “Zhi Zhi… I turned off the meeting room surveillance today.”
“You can be excessive with me, too.”
She didn’t show any intention of letting go or pushing her away; her arm remained wrapped around Sheng Zhi.
The more suffocated, the closer she got.
