Amnesia Trap (GL) - Chapter 28
Was she angry? Was she annoyed?
Sheng Zhi watched Ji Qingfan hand the form to the junior employee.
However, when dealing with the employee, her face reverted to its usual restrained expression, making it impossible to tell anything.
She didn’t know that Ji Qingfan, listening to her voice, only found her calling her “Dearest” so incredibly sweet.
How could she possibly dislike it?
She knew clearly that Sheng Zhi was speaking out of anger, just like the line she threw at her in the conference room, “I suddenly realized kissing you is quite interesting. We can kiss more often when we have nothing to do.” Ji Qingfan felt like even that was a form of sweet talk.
The junior employee was clearly flustered and quickly took the form, saying “Thank you, CEO Ji” twice.
Afterward, she smiled shyly at Sheng Zhi: “And also… thank you, Chief Assistant Sheng.”
Sheng Zhi chuckled, “Oh? Thanking me too? Sister, you’re so polite.”
She was the complete opposite of Ji Qingfan’s expressionless demeanor, her smile carrying a sense of nonchalance, her posture relaxed and unknowingly captivating.
She was already beautiful, and her aggressive beauty easily made people stare.
The junior employee was stunned for two seconds by her smile, then belatedly realized it, her face flushing slightly because of her obvious daze.
Ji Qingfan looked at the smile playing on Sheng Zhi’s lips, her eyes clouding over for a moment. Although she quickly masked it, her fingertips scraped forcefully against her palm.
Why can she call anyone ‘Sister’…
Jiang Wanyin could, and a random employee could.
Why won’t she call her ‘Sister’?
“Sheng Zhi, maintain a professional attitude at the company. Don’t be so lax.”
Hearing the full name and surname, Sheng Zhi raised an eyebrow, guessing that Ji Qingfan was indeed displeased that she had called her “Dearest” in front of so many people.
But hearing Ji Qingfan call her out, she smiled even more triumphantly.
The naturally upturned corners of her eyes were like a cat’s. Sheng Zhi looked at Ji Qingfan defiantly and mouthed to her: “I, will, not.”
After mouthing the words, she exaggeratedly acted, “Dearest, what did you just say? I don’t think I heard you clearly.”
The atmosphere seemed to grow somewhat tense.
When Sheng Zhi’s words fell, the surroundings went quiet. The junior employee seized the moment and quickly hurried off to submit the form, terrified of staying a second longer and getting caught in the crossfire.
Her behavior was childish and difficult, but the moment she shifted her attention back to Ji Qingfan, Ji Qingfan’s earlier movement of forcefully rubbing her palm with her fingertips stopped.
Seeing Sheng Zhi’s attention back on her, Ji Qingfan let out a breath of relief.
After a moment’s pause, Sheng Zhi heard Ji Qingfan say: “Come to my office.”
Her tone was similar to when she asked Sheng Zhi to stay behind alone in the conference room, but this time, Sheng Zhi did not comply obediently.
A flippant smile still hung on her lips, as if saying, “You ask me to go, and I’ll go?”
Sheng Zhi completely ignored Ji Qingfan’s command.
She knew very well it wasn’t time to clock out yet, but she walked away without looking back.
“Zhi Zhi…”
A woman’s slightly breathless voice, struggling to keep up, came from behind her.
Ji Qingfan was chasing her down the stairs, which Sheng Zhi hadn’t quite expected.
Noticing Ji Qingfan still trying to grab her hand, she smoothly avoided her, not letting her grasp her.
She was in a bad mood, and it was getting worse. Although she had provoked Ji Qingfan as planned, and Ji Qingfan clearly wasn’t happy, she didn’t feel any better; she was still unpleasant.
Was she unattractive? Was kissing her a disadvantage? That look of intolerance… From childhood to now, she had always been the one who was picky; when had she ever been rejected?
Besides, she had never been kissed before, and her first kiss was taken by Ji Qingfan just like that.
She didn’t even know if Ji Qingfan, with her effortless manner, had kissed other people.
As Sheng Zhi thought, she not only grew angry but also felt a little wronged. When Ji Qingfan tried to grab her again, she avoided her more obviously.
Hmph. Now she’s calling her ‘Zhi Zhi’ again. Wasn’t it perfectly fine just a moment ago to call her by her full name, ‘Sheng Zhi’?
Ji Qingfan noticed Sheng Zhi’s suddenly impatient expression and increasingly evasive movements. Her heart clenched for a second. This scene overlapped with too many past memories, instantly pulling her back years ago, to those times when Sheng Zhi pushed her away.
But this thought was immediately suppressed by Ji Qingfan.
She caught her breath, trying her best to calm down.
It wouldn’t be like before. She must be overthinking. She just reached out to hold Zhi Zhi’s hand and was avoided; it didn’t mean she was going to avoid her again. It couldn’t be that…
Ji Qingfan thought internally, but her hands still started to tremble involuntarily, especially after Sheng Zhi continued to ignore her.
Her stress response chose this moment to kick in. Her health was already poor, and the emotional shock combined with it caused her face to turn pale, and her breathing seemed restricted.
Ji Qingfan clutched her chest and leaned on the handrail, feeling too unwell to move for a moment.
Unable to hold Sheng Zhi, and too distressed to catch up, she could only watch her get further and further away, watching her back depart. This realization made her feel faint.
What should she do? What should she do?
She wanted Sheng Zhi to turn around, and she wanted to follow her, hating her own feeble body for the first time. But Sheng Zhi just kept walking forward, not sparing her a glance, until she reached the corner, descended to the next floor, and her back was no longer visible.
Ji Qingfan completely lost her footing, sliding down onto the cold steps. Although she couldn’t see anything now, her gaze was still fixed in the direction of Sheng Zhi’s receding figure.
Her body felt increasingly unwell, and her heart ached severely.
It wasn’t just a physical reaction; the feeling of being suffocated by emotion also became more pronounced.
She didn’t know which was worse, the physical or the psychological discomfort. She stared at the empty corner, and as she watched, tears welled up uncontrollably. Her lips moved, murmuring almost in a whisper, “Don’t go.”
“Don’t leave me…”
Don’t abandon her.
