Amnesia Trap (GL) - Chapter 6
The corners of her eyes held a scattering of smiles, like a pool of shimmering spring water, bright and moving, looking very sweet.
Anyone being looked at by her at this moment would likely feel a sense of fascination—her gaze was so focused, her acting so believable.
Sheng Zhi was startled and abruptly pulled her hand back.
Her action was sudden, and Ji Qingfan didn’t let go, either because she hadn’t reacted in time or for some other reason, she was completely pulled forward with Sheng Zhi’s movement. Since she hadn’t been sitting steadily, she was likely to fall awkwardly to her knees. Seeing this, the hand Sheng Zhi was about to shake off froze, and she subconsciously caught the person.
She was already semi-reclining, and catching her brought a fragrant warmth into her arms.
The woman in her arms was breathing slightly. Her first reaction after being caught and recovering her senses was to prop herself up and check Sheng Zhi up and down, looking very worried and nervous: “Zhi Zhi, are you okay? Does it hurt? Did I… did I press down on you anywhere?”
She got up quickly, but Sheng Zhi still had a subtle sensation of her being in her arms, though this feeling instantly vanished when she heard Ji Qingfan’s words.
“What’s wrong,” she looked at Ji Qingfan with a slight, clear, cat-like eye, and at the same time, leaned back further, her languid tone clearly showing her displeasure, “Am I made of paper? Could you possibly hurt me?”
Perhaps not expecting her to speak like that, Ji Qingfan seemed a little flustered by the retort: “No, I didn’t mean that Zhi Zhi is weak, I just thought Zhi Zhi is a patient now, and quite frail…”
The more she spoke, the more awkward it sounded. Ji Qingfan seemed to realize this and stopped speaking, pausing for a second before adding: “It’s alright, even if Zhi Zhi is a patient right now, you are still the best.”
It would have been better if she hadn’t added that, the feeling of digging herself into a deeper hole became even more apparent.
Sheng Zhi scoffed: “Are you mocking me or insulting me?”
Ji Qingfan’s lips moved, but before she could speak again, Sheng Zhi interrupted: “Right, did you make this food?”
It wasn’t that Ji Qingfan couldn’t cook, but primarily… her personally cooking for her? That seemed highly unlikely.
The topic shifted abruptly. Ji Qingfan let out a slight upward-inflected nasal sound as she followed Sheng Zhi’s gaze.
Sheng Zhi wasn’t looking at anything else, but the insulated food container Ji Qingfan had placed aside earlier.
“Yes.” Ji Qingfan answered softly, her eyes curving into a smile.
She walked over and opened the insulated food container.
The items inside were meticulously separated and arranged, with exquisite bowls and chopsticks prepared separately nearby. “Zhi Zhi, have a taste. I made it myself. It’s all your favorite flavors.”
It was fine before it was opened, but once it was, the aroma of the food diffused, and Sheng Zhi, who hadn’t eaten much, especially since the accident, felt very unworthily hungry.
She casually glanced into the food container and couldn’t help but be a little surprised when she saw that they were indeed all flavors she loved. Although she had already sensed how well Ji Qingfan knew her from how Ji Qingfan answered every one of her questions, she hadn’t felt it deeply until this moment when it was confirmed again.
—The act was flawless: a genuinely affectionate and earnest demeanor, and actions based on intimate familiarity. If she had genuinely lost her memory, she might truly be deceived by the other party.
Sheng Zhi was silent for a while. Ji Qingfan stirred the soup with a spoon and smiled again: “Is it inconvenient for Zhi Zhi to eat by yourself… May I feed you?”
Hearing Ji Qingfan say this, Sheng Zhi instantly snapped back to attention. She looked at Ji Qingfan, and although she didn’t speak, the expression “Are you kidding me?” was clearly written all over her face.
Ji Qingfan met her incredulous gaze with a charming smile, seemingly finding her wide cat eyes adorable. She couldn’t help but raise her finger and poke her cheek.
“Please, okay?” Ji Qingfan bent down and leaned close to her ear, the fingertip that poked her cheek slowly moving to her earlobe, gently rubbing it almost imperceptibly. “But I really want to feed you.”
Sheng Zhi was about to refuse, but feeling the soft, gentle pressure on her ear, her thoughts shifted. She figured Ji Qingfan might have said this precisely because she was confident Sheng Zhi would refuse her.
Just like how Ji Qingfan had kept initiating various forms of contact even after she told her not to touch her, Ji Qingfan touching her couldn’t be because she genuinely enjoyed it. It was likely a calculated move, assuming Sheng Zhi would be unable to tolerate it and would rebuke her. If she was rebuked enough times, Ji Qingfan would have both acted the part and logically avoided physical contact with her.
If it were anyone else, Sheng Zhi wouldn’t overthink it, but the moment she considered the target of her speculation was her nemesis, the eight-hundred-times-more-cunning Ji Qingfan, she felt that every small gesture of the other person required a complex comprehension analysis.
So, with this thought, Sheng Zhi resisted the urge to swat Ji Qingfan’s hand away and even tilted her face up with a smile: “Sure, go ahead and feed me.”
Sure enough, upon hearing her say this, Ji Qingfan instantly froze.
Sheng Zhi took in her reaction, smug inside. Aha, I guessed right! I already anticipated your anticipation! Keep acting if you’ve got the guts.
All sorts of mischievous thoughts popped up. Sheng Zhi lightly snorted, looking Ji Qingfan up and down, and relentlessly spoke: “What’s wrong with you? Why are you hesitating now that I actually asked you to do it? Could it be that you’re all talk and don’t really love me?”
“No, I just didn’t expect Zhi Zhi would actually allow me to…” Ji Qingfan seemed at a loss for words, a thin layer of pink flushing her face, like falling cherry blossoms.
She listened to Sheng Zhi’s voice, clenching her palm to keep her overly intense joy from showing.
It wasn’t just the incredible agreement to something she thought would be rejected; the most important thing was that the level of contact today was already more than they had had in the past six months.
She couldn’t have even imagined this before, but today, they had talked so much and had so many touches.
She was overwhelmed by a tidal wave of pleasure, nearly breathless.
So happy, truly so happy. All of this is actually happening…
Ji Qingfan had initially thought that having it once would be enough to accept losing it again, but at this moment, the thought that everything right now could one day revert entirely to ice point was already unbearable for her.
Time was moving too fast. She wished every minute and second would slow down and never return to the past.
Sheng Zhi also noticed Ji Qingfan’s change in complexion.
She glanced over and back, thinking that this person was truly the same as she was years ago: any frustration immediately showed on her face. It was the same years ago; she was always made to feel flustered and red-faced by her.
“Hurry up,” Sheng Zhi urged.
Watching Ji Qingfan’s annoyed expression, her malicious intent grew even stronger.
Loves to act, does she? Even volunteered to feed me. Let’s see if I don’t give her a hard time.
