Carrying My Senior's Coffin (GL) - Chapter 10
The words of the curse poured relentlessly from the small, black phone. Even with the blurred audio quality, the malice and hatred were unmistakable.
The counselor could hardly believe that the person on the other end, spewing such foul language, was Nancy, the student she remembered as obedient and gentle.
Is this really the same person?! But it was undeniably Nancy’s voice.
“Nancy! Stop it!” After a moment of shock, the counselor exploded in anger.
Nancy seemed not to have expected anyone else to be there and fell silent momentarily.
“Listen to the things you’re saying! A young woman cursing someone to die a miserable death! How did you become like this? This is outrageous!”
A scoff came from the phone, filled with undisguised scorn and disdain, yet the words that followed were: “Teacher, you must not be fooled by her. I am the victim! The reason I’ve become like this is all Fang Yiyi’s fault. She harmed me.”
A blatant lie.
The counselor was furious, gritting her teeth: “Nancy! Do you take me for a fool?”
“Pfft…” Nancy burst into laughter. Like someone with a personality disorder, she immediately switched her tone, feigning innocence: “Oh, Teacher, how can you think that? Given my condition, is there any need for me to lie to you?”
“…”
The counselor’s face went from black to green with anger: “Nancy, you’ve gone too far!”
At that, Nancy dropped the act, changing her expression instantly back to the vicious malice she had started with: “Teacher, the one who has gone too far is Fang Yiyi! She is a bastard with no mother or father, born to bring bad luck! She brought death to her parents years ago…”
“Stop it!” The counselor, unable to tolerate it any longer, snatched the phone from Fang Yiyi’s hand. “Nancy, shut up! If I hadn’t witnessed this myself, I wouldn’t believe it! Insulting and cursing a classmate, campus bullying—this kind of vicious student was taught by me! You have disappointed me greatly.” With that, she hung up.
The counselor was panting from anger, then realized she was holding Fang Yiyi’s phone.
She returned the phone to Fang Yiyi: “Fang Yiyi, I apologize. I took the liberty of hanging up for you.”
Fang Yiyi pursed her lips. The fear in her eyes hadn’t completely dissipated. She looked at the counselor blankly, like a puppy that had been beaten too often, looking utterly pitiful.
After being bullied for over a semester, even if she told herself it didn’t matter, submissiveness and obedience had quietly taken root, influencing her every action subconsciously.
“Oh, dear…” The counselor sighed, unable to resist reaching out and gently rubbing Fang Yiyi’s head. “I’m sorry. I only knew you were introverted. I didn’t know they bullied you this much. It’s my fault for not being observant enough. I apologize to you. Nancy’s withdrawal is her own doing. Don’t worry about it, and don’t take her words to heart. You have a long future ahead of you. Don’t let temporary difficulties hold you back, understand?”
Fang Yiyi shook her head: “No, Teacher, you don’t need to apologize. It’s not your fault. It’s mine.”
Fang Yiyi’s obedience melted the counselor’s heart, and her tone became gentler: “Well, you tidy up a bit. I’m going to bring the police over to take a statement. Don’t be nervous. Just tell them what happened,” she cautioned, seemingly worried that Fang Yiyi might be scared: “Youlan, Manman, and the others have already received their disciplinary actions, but they haven’t been announced yet. Their fate is similar to Nancy’s. They won’t be in school anymore, so you don’t need to worry about retaliation.”
Fang Yiyi’s eyes widened: “Really?” She was a bit surprised, expecting it to drag on for days. She was impressed that it was resolved so quickly—a testament to the efficiency of a top-three university in the country.
The counselor noted the change in Fang Yiyi’s emotion and couldn’t help but chuckle: “It’s true. If you were the type to report them, they would have been disciplined much earlier.” Although perhaps not so severely.
“Ah…” Fang Yiyi faltered.
She was clearly the picture of honesty, unable to string together a sentence in three minutes. The counselor didn’t expect much from her and simply said: “Get ready. I’ll be back in a moment.”
With that, she pushed the door and left.
The door was pulled shut by the spring lock with a bang.
Li Ting manifested in mid-air, and the first thing she did was mock Fang Yiyi.
“I always thought you were quite useless, but I never imagined you would repeatedly refresh my understanding of the word ‘useless’ single-handedly. You are truly incredible.”
Fang Yiyi lowered her head, obediently admitting her fault: “I’m sorry.”
Li Ting was surprised: “Why are you apologizing to me? Did you do something to offend me?”
Fang Yiyi blinked, thought for a moment, and said, “I don’t think so.”
“…”
Li Ting floated closer. Her jade-like fingers tapped Fang Yiyi’s forehead, making her flinch. “I thought you were brave because you aren’t afraid of me like others are. I see I misjudged. It turns out you’re someone anyone can bully.”
Anyone. Can. Bully.
With those four words hitting her, Fang Yiyi instinctively retorted: “I am not!”
“Heh.” Li Ting was noncommittal. “You still have some ridiculous pride left, but it’s negligible compared to your weakness,” she made a gesture: “You can be subdued by a casual word.”
Li Ting’s words were blunt and hurtful. However, Fang Yiyi was so used to being bullied that, far from getting angry, she self-analyzed and found profound truth in them. She felt a glimmer of sudden enlightenment. She seized the feeling and followed the thought:
“You’re right.”
“What did you say?”
Fang Yiyi contemplated as she spoke: “I always thought that anything was fine, it didn’t matter, let them bully me. But frankly, it’s just that I’m too weak and don’t know how to resist. So, I kept giving myself psychological hints, trying to trick myself into thinking ‘my ambition is elsewhere’ to numb myself and avoid the current situation.”
“…Mm, and then what?”
Fang Yiyi looked at her, her eyes bright and shining. The unhealed finger marks on her face became more pronounced. “Senior Sister, would you help me?”
Li Ting: “?”
“Teach me how to talk back. The teacher will be bringing the police up soon. Senior Sister, please teach me how to speak. What should I say to kick them while they’re down and ensure they receive a harsher punishment?”
“Kick them while they’re down?” Li Ting was taken aback by the choice of words.
“No, no,” Fang Yiyi reconsidered: “The punishment they deserve.”
“The punishment they deserve?” When Li Ting was alive, no one dared to provoke her, and she had no friends with Fang Yiyi’s personality. After death, she was a dominant ghost. Fang Yiyi was a novel experience for her. Since she had been a ghost for a long time, her personality had become more extreme. She couldn’t help but say, “Shouldn’t it be revenge?”
“Oh,” Fang Yiyi nodded, adopting an expression of having ‘learned something’: “Yes, revenge.”
“I think you should forget it. Nancy cursed you so much just now, and you couldn’t even talk back with your teacher backing you up. A steamed bun is a steamed bun. It can rot, but it can’t turn into a fossil.” Li Ting poured cold water on her without mercy, her words like a poison-tipped knife.
Yet, Fang Yiyi was impervious to the insult: “I want to talk back, but I don’t know what to say. My mind just goes blank. I don’t know why. I’m clearly angry, but my mouth is sealed, as if I can’t say a single word,” she reflected in frustration: “I really am useless.”
Li Ting agreed: “You have some self-awareness. You are indeed useless.”
“So, please help me, okay? It’s one thing if they insult me, but they insulted my parents. I can’t forgive that. Please.” Fang Yiyi pressed her hands together in a sincere plea.
Li Ting was amused: “I am a ghost, I drain your vital essence, I will take your life, I will kill you. Aren’t you stupid, asking for help from your murderer?”
Fang Yiyi bit her lower lip, her face full of pleading: “I am stupid. Otherwise, why would I have no friends and be bullied like this? I know you will kill me. I… I volunteer! Since I won’t live long anyway, just grant me this wish before I die, okay? Please, I beg you…”
She grabbed the hem of the large red gown and shook it gently.
“You really are…” Li Ting felt a headache coming on, realizing that Fang Yiyi could touch her through sheer willpower. She felt annoyed.
Fang Yiyi didn’t notice. It was a subconscious reaction born of fear that Li Ting would refuse. She continued: “Then what else do you like? I’ll burn it for you! Do you have a grave? I’ll bring you a wreath.”
Li Ting glared at her: “Who wants your wreath!”
“Then how about this,” Fang Yiyi had an inspiration: “You like draining vital essence, right? What positions do you like? I’ll buy online resources and learn!”
Li Ting: “…?”
Li Ting: “!!!”

Fang Yiyi is a poor little thing who lost her parents and was scared and exploited by vicious relatives. She was constantly fed information like “you are useless,” so she’s actually very strong, considering others might have committed suicide from depression.
The living Li Ting would have felt sorry for her, but the dead Li Ting only sees her as useless _(:з」∠)_
P.S.: Fang Yiyi is a good student.
