Ending Up with the Female Lead’s Mom - Chapter 2
Guoguo followed uneasily behind Su Ming. She had always been terrified of dealing with parents—whether her own or her classmates’—not to mention the fact that this was Gu Shiyue’s mother. Guoguo instantly felt a natural sense of authority and pressure radiating from Gu Zhanci.
Guoguo kept her head down the entire time, trying to make herself as insignificant as a speck of dust.
As two figures suddenly appeared beside her—one smiling like a flower, the other cautious—Gu Zhanci raised her eyes to look at the girl in the camisole and hot pants. “Is something the matter?”
“We’re heading out, just coming over to say goodbye.”
Gu Zhanci was polite but distant: “Goodbye.”
Su Ming suddenly leaned down and whispered into her ear: “Goodbye, Big Sister.”
Then, with a blink of her “peach blossom” eyes, she turned and left. The entire process was smooth and decisive, yet it carried an inexplicable, bewitching charm.
Gu Zhanci brushed a lock of hair behind her ear with her pinky finger. Just now, the girl’s eyelashes seemed to have lightly brushed against her earlobe.
“She called you ‘Sister’? Doesn’t she like your daughter? Why call you sister? Isn’t that messing up the family hierarchy?” Lu Lu asked, completely baffled.
Gu Zhanci stared at her with deep, dark eyes.
Lu Lu laughed, “I’m not saying you’re old, it’s just that the seniority is all mixed up! You’re such a serious, upright person—shouldn’t you be bothered by the titles? She actually called you sister.”
Gu Zhanci replied, “I’m not bothered by the title. I’m just uncomfortable.”
Lu Lu propped up her chin. “Oh? Uncomfortable where?”
Gu Zhanci: “My ear is uncomfortable. It itches.”
Lu Lu: “…”
Once they were out of the bar, Guoguo finally took a deep breath. She had been holding her breath the entire time, too scared to speak. Now she could finally breathe fresh air.
She patted her chest. “Gu Shiyue’s mom has such a powerful aura. I didn’t even dare to look her in the eye just now. Do you really like her? You even called her sister.”
According to seniority, she should have called her “Auntie.”
Su Ming wore a white sun-protection cardigan over her outfit, her limbs appearing porcelain-white beneath the hot pants. She turned around to face Guoguo and asked seriously, “Do you know the ultimate secret of being a ‘simp’?”
Guoguo instinctively straightened her posture. “Of course! It’s ‘Simp until the end, and you’ll eventually have it all!'”
This was her ultimate dream.
Su Ming shook her head and said solemnly, “Wrong. That’s just the ideal result. As the saying goes, don’t put all your eggs in one basket. Simping for just one person is too boring and high-risk. It’s better to simp for several at once—that way, ‘having it all’ is only a matter of time. Understand?”
Guoguo: “…”
She was completely stunned. “So you decided that while simping for Gu Shiyue, you’d simp for her mom too? Isn’t that… kind of bad? They are mother and daughter. You’d be a third party…”
Su Ming: “…”
How is this kid so literal?
“What third party? I’m teasing you. Right now, I only want to ‘simp’ for ice cream. Come on, I’ll buy you milk tea.” Su Ming dashed into a cold drink shop to escape the sun. She wasn’t simping for anyone; she was just “clinging to a leg.” Does one really need to “simp” for that?
Guoguo breathed a sigh of relief. She had been scared to death, thinking Su Ming’s mind had snapped after failing to pursue Gu Shiyue so many times, and that she was going to use the mother as a substitute in some May-December romance.
The drink shop was air-conditioned and cool, playing soothing music. Su Ming looked content; she hated summer.
“Gu Shiyue and her mom are so similar—both look icy and hard to get along with,” Guoguo remarked while eating her ice cream.
Su Ming said, “You think so? I think she’s quite nice. That ‘icy’ vibe is perfect for cooling down in the summer.”
Guoguo shook her head, not understanding. She only liked dealing with people her own age; older people made her feel pressured, like she had suddenly gained an extra mother.
The shop was near the bar. Su Ming sat there for a long time until she saw Gu Zhanci and Lu Lu exit the bar through the glass window and drive away.
“Waiter, check please,” Su Ming said.
A waiter in a uniform walked over. Guoguo froze with her straw in her mouth. Through her internal radar system, Su Ming also realized this wasn’t just a random extra, but…
“Lin Yi?”
The second female lead did indeed work various part-time jobs during the holidays, but Su Ming hadn’t expected to run into her here.
Lin Yi wore a standard service-industry smile, acting as if she didn’t know Su Ming. “Hello, here is your bill. Please scan the code to pay.”
Su Ming glanced at the girl who was pretending not to know her, took out her phone, and paid without saying much.
Guoguo asked curiously, “Mingming, don’t you hate her the most? Why didn’t you give her a hard time just now?”
According to the original plot, she should have humiliated the second lead. But now, Su Ming didn’t want to bully her. The “soul” inside had changed, so why bother?
She said lazily, “I don’t hate her anymore.”
“Why?” Guoguo asked.
“The ‘trashy girl’ has reformed; the simp has stopped simping.” Su Ming simply didn’t want to follow the original plot and turn herself into a dead villain. She was much more interested in interacting with the mother.
Su Ming admitted it: she was only interested in Gu Zhanci.
After parting with Guoguo, Su Ming returned home. It had been three days since she transmigrated. In that time, she had accepted her reality. Fortunately, the original owner had already finished the Gaokao (college entrance exams), so she didn’t have to experience that hellish final year of high school again.
Su Ming washed off her heavy makeup and moisturized. Since it was too hot outside, she lay on the sofa scrolling through her phone until she fell asleep. When she woke up, she felt a woman near her and realized she had been woken by the heat.
“Baby, why are you sleeping all messy on the sofa?”
A husky, doting female voice spoke. Su Ming, thinking she was back in her original home, grabbed the wandering hands. “Don’t move.”
“Don’t move? Get up, quickly.”
The woman felt like a small furnace. Su Ming jolted awake to see a woman with smiling eyes looking at her. She stammered, “Sis?”
She had just dreamed she was back in her old world.
Su Yao asked, “How did you fall asleep on the sofa? The AC is so low; aren’t you afraid of catching a cold?”
Su Ming replied, “I was too tired, I forgot.”
“Were you out drinking at the bar again?”
“Yeah.”
“I know you’re heading to college soon and will be separated from Gu Shiyue, so you’re in a bad mood. But there’s no need to trash yourself like this. There are plenty of fish in the sea—why hang yourself on Gu Shiyue’s tree? Once you get to college, you’ll find plenty of beautiful girls.”
The original owner’s sister, Su Yao, was a total “sister-con.” The Su parents had had Su Ming late in life, so she had been pampered by everyone since childhood. She was twelve years younger than Su Yao. Su Yao managed the family business and was incredibly indulgent toward her nineteen-year-old sister.
What Su Yao found most unacceptable was that her precious sister had fallen for her rival’s daughter and was willing to be a lowly simp.
Su Ming gave a casual “Mm.”
Su Yao ruffled her hair. “Strange, why are you so obedient today? Did you get into trouble outside?”
Su Ming said speechlessly, “Are you unhappy that I’m being good?”
“I’m happy! Big Sis loves you most.” Su Yao reached out and squeezed Su Ming’s face ruthlessly, enjoying the bounce of youthful collagen.
Su Ming barely managed to escape Su Yao’s clutches.
“By the way, Gu Shiyue’s 18th birthday banquet is in a few days. She’ll be officially named the successor of the Gu Corporation. It’ll be a lively event. Do you want to come with me to broaden your horizons?” Su Yao asked, knowing the answer full well.
Su Ming certainly wasn’t going to miss it. “I’ll go.”
Three days later, Su Ming and Su Yao arrived at the hotel for the banquet. Su Ming had dressed up specifically for the occasion, wearing a pure white dress that made her look like an unopened white daisy. Standing next to Su Yao in her rose-red gown, she didn’t look out of place at all.
Seeing Su Ming looking so happy and clearly having put thought into her appearance, Su Yao sighed, “I knew it. You get happy the moment you’re about to see her. But you two aren’t a good match.”
Su Ming said, “I agree.”
Su Yao said earnestly, “It’s good that you know. Stop liking that Gu Shiyue. Follow me to more parties; I guarantee I’ll find you all sorts of girls.”
Su Ming kept nodding. “Mm-hmm.”
The two of them talked past each other the whole way. Su Yao led Su Ming into the grand hall. Gu Zhanci was there in a long gown, with the female lead, Gu Shiyue, standing beside her.
A French sleeveless black gown hugged Gu Zhanci’s graceful curves. It was dignified and grand, yet added a touch of cold elegance. Meanwhile, Gu Shiyue wore a white shirt and trousers, looking very youthful. Both were incredibly eye-catching.
“Tsk, Gu Zhanci’s figure is truly enviable. Calling her a ‘stunner of the human world’ wouldn’t be an exaggeration,” Su Yao whispered, smiling as she prepared her social face.
Su Ming stood beside her, pretending not to hear.
Although Gu Zhanci wasn’t the female lead, her physique was top-tier. Since both leads were still in high school, Gu Zhanci’s mature, alluring figure was like a lethal weapon.
2D characters truly are the “eternal gods” (the best), Su Ming thought.
Su Yao led Su Ming forward with a laugh. “President Gu, long time no see. You’re becoming more charming by the day.”
She was always a bit informal. The last time she saw Gu Zhanci was when they were competing for a government project.
Thinking back, that was only a few days ago.
Gu Zhanci said, “President Su, you flatter me. And this is…”
Su Yao said proudly, “My sister, Su Ming.”
Su Ming had specifically applied light makeup today that suited her age, making her look full of youthful glow. Gu Zhanci’s eyes froze for a split second. “It’s you?”
Between the heavy makeup from before and the light makeup now, she looked like two different people. She no longer looked so “bewitching,” but rather slightly innocent.
Su Yao was surprised. “You two know each other?”
Gu Zhanci said calmly, “We’ve met before.”
“That’s right. I didn’t expect ‘Big Sister’ would still remember me?”
Su Ming looked up with her watery “peach blossom” eyes. From the corner of her eye, she saw the Female Lead standing there with a frozen, cold face, clearly unhappy about Su Ming’s appearance.
After the unusual things Su Ming had said to her at the bar, it was hard for Gu Zhanci not to remember her. Moreover, no one had ever dared to call her “Sister” to her face. Gu Zhanci gave a faint smile. “Of course I remember.”
Su Yao got curious. “How did you two meet?”
Su Ming looked expectantly at Gu Zhanci, acting as if the elder should speak first.
Gu Zhanci said, “A brief encounter in a bar.”
Su Yao gave Su Ming an interested look, and Su Ming shot back a “don’t overthink it” gaze.
As more guests arrived, the topic was temporarily dropped.
Gu Zhanci was soon busy chatting with other guests, while Su Ming was pulled to a secluded spot by the Female Lead. Gu Shiyue had a strong grip; Su Ming pursed her lips and let her drag her off to settle accounts.
“Su Ming, what are you trying to do now?” Gu Shiyue loathed Su Ming. Not only did Su Ming pester her at school, but now she was even crashing her birthday banquet. That hypocritical appearance was disgusting.
The original owner really was bad at being a simp. If it were Su Ming, she would never have “simped” to the point where the female lead actually hated her. Su Ming rubbed her wrist and said, “Relax, I’m not here for you.”
Gu Shiyue didn’t believe her. “Then who are you looking for?”
Su Ming smiled brightly. “I’m looking for your mom.”(Note: Also a pun/slang for “I’m looking for your mother” or “Screw you”).
The Female Lead never expected that answer. She paused for a moment. “Are you cursing at me?”
Su Ming: “…”
