Ending Up with the Female Lead’s Mom - Chapter 5
Su Ming said, “It’s not that serious, really. Girls in this circle are busy looking for ‘Big Sisters’ to date during the day and busy making love with them at night. Who has time to put you on a wanted list? Don’t overthink it.”
Guoguo: “…”
Su Ming asked, “Where are you? I’m coming right now.”
Guoguo gave her the address of a hotel. Su Ming scrambled out of bed, splashed some water on her face, and changed her clothes. She tried to be as quiet as possible, but she was still spotted by Su Yao.
Su Yao had just woken up; her silk robe was loosely tied, revealing a large expanse of porcelain skin. With sleepy eyes, she asked, “Baby, why are you still up so late?”
Talk about a fatal attraction.
Su Ming turned her head away, adhering to the principle of “see no evil.”
“My friend is in trouble; I have to go out for a bit.”
“You’re going out now? I’ll go with you.” Su Yao snapped awake instantly. Su Ming didn’t bother arguing; it really wasn’t safe to be out alone at this hour. Su Yao quickly changed her clothes.
Su Yao asked, “Which friend? Is it Guoguo?”
“Yeah. She said she’s at a hotel and there’s another woman in the bed.” Su Ming summarized Guoguo’s situation in a few words.
Su Yao pondered. “Should we help her call the police?”
Su Ming said, “Uh… she said she was the one who slept with the other person.”
Su Yao: “…” Never mind then.
A potential criminal case had just turned into a messy relationship dispute.
The night air was slightly chilly. When Su Ming and Su Yao reached the hotel, the receptionist gave them a very subtle, knowing look. Su Ming raised an eyebrow. “Is there a problem?”
The staff member quickly straightened their expression. “No. For guest safety, please register your details.”
Once Su Ming finished registering, Su Yao—who was currently bare-faced and didn’t want a direct confrontation with the staff—asked, “What was that about?”
Su Ming said, “They probably think we’re here to catch someone cheating.”
The two of them looked like they had just rolled out of bed, showing up at a hotel in the middle of the night to find someone; they definitely looked like they were on a “raid.”
Su Yao rolled her eyes.
Su Ming reached the room, her excuses already prepared. There had to be a misunderstanding; with Guoguo’s tiny frame, there was no way she could “sleep with” someone else—it would be a miracle if she wasn’t the one being bullied. As Su Ming’s mind ran wild with theories about last night’s truth, she was jolted by the figure who opened the door.
It was Gu Zhanci.
The two stood face-to-face. “…”
Su Ming’s brain glitched. “Was the woman who slept with Guoguo actually you?”
Gu Zhanci looked at her like she was crazy. “I am innocent.”
Su Ming: “…”
“Come in.” Gu Zhanci was also surprised by Su Ming’s appearance. Lu Lu had called her in the middle of the night, saying she had made a girl cry and didn’t know how to handle it. Gu Zhanci had come specifically to clean up the mess, only now realizing the girl was Su Ming’s friend.
“Why is Gu Zhanci here?” Su Yao whispered, her eyes wide. “Is she the one who was with Guoguo? I knew it—beneath that serious exterior hides a wild, unrestrained soul.”
Su Ming was speechless. “It’s not her.”
Su Yao felt a twinge of disappointment. She was naturally competitive with Gu Zhanci; they were like fated rivals. Even now, she didn’t want to be outdone by Gu Zhanci while they were both bare-faced. Fortunately, she was prepared; Su Yao pulled a mask out of her bag and put it on.
Five people were now crowded into the hotel suite.
The situation was incredibly awkward. Gu Zhanci had the strongest aura; Lu Lu was in a bathrobe with slightly messy hair, looking like someone who had just “finished”; and Guoguo’s eyes were bloodshot. The moment Guoguo saw Su Ming, she lunged into her arms.
“Wail… you’re finally here!”
“Don’t be afraid. There must be a misunderstanding.”
Su Ming and Guoguo huddled together.
Su Yao crossed her arms, watching the show. “President Gu, care to explain what’s going on?”
Gu Zhanci looked at Lu Lu, who was clearly out of it.
Lu Lu rubbed her forehead with an awkward laugh. “It’s a long story.”
“Make it short,” Su Ming and Gu Zhanci said in unison. They both looked at each other immediately after; Gu Zhanci remained composed, while Su Ming felt a bit flustered.
She really hadn’t expected to run into the Female Lead’s mom here. It was too sudden; she was completely unprepared.
Lu Lu pulled her silk robe tighter and, under the gaze of the other four, said, “Here’s what happened. Yesterday, when I went to the bar to start my nightlife, I saw this little youngster…”
Guoguo corrected her: “My name is Guoguo.”
“I saw this Little Guoguo drinking alone at the bar, with several burly men watching her like hawks. Out of a ‘hero-saving-the-beauty’ mindset, I kindly kept her company. She ended up getting drunk and cried in my arms, saying something about ‘Happy Birthday, Susu’ and whatnot.”
Gu Zhanci raised her eyes to Su Ming. “Was it your birthday yesterday?”
“No, my name is Mingming, not Susu,” Su Ming smiled.
Gu Zhanci: “…”
“Could you all please respect the storyteller?” Lu Lu continued. “I’d never seen such a scene—a pretty little girl crying in my arms. I’m no saint, so I got a room at this hotel. But I didn’t do anything. Who would have guessed that when we woke up…”
The moment she woke up, she heard Guoguo’s low sobbing. Lu Lu had no choice but to ask the reliable Gu Zhanci to handle it.
Guoguo whispered, “I’m sorry… I really don’t remember what I did last night. I’ll take responsibility for you.”
Lu Lu arched an eyebrow and laughed. “Are you sure?”
Guoguo, still convinced she had “ravished” the other woman, apologized repeatedly. “Yes. I didn’t mean to sleep with you.”
“Who? You slept with who? How could your tiny body sleep with me? Sister here has been roaming the world for years; I’ve never been ‘slept with’ by a little lolita.” Lu Lu was very agitated.
Guoguo: “…”
The atmosphere suddenly turned “peachy” (suggestive). Su Ming and Su Yao exchanged looks, while Guoguo’s face burned with embarrassment.
Gu Zhanci spoke up: “Enough. It seems nobody slept with anyone; it’s clearly a misunderstanding. It’s too late tonight. Let’s find a quiet place to chat tomorrow.”
Guoguo now wanted nothing more than to find a hole to crawl into. She hid behind Su Ming and nodded frantically.
Lu Lu called out: “Little Lolita.”
Guoguo replied: “I’m an adult.”
Su Ming took the opportunity to take out her phone and hold it up to Gu Zhanci. “Contact info?”
Gu Zhanci added her on WeChat. Su Ming’s profile picture was a meme, while Gu Zhanci’s was a fountain pen.
After Su Ming and Su Yao took Guoguo away, Gu Zhanci asked, “What actually happened?”
This time, Lu Lu didn’t exaggerate. “I saw her drinking alone. A young girl out drinking by herself at night—how dangerous is that? To give her a lasting lesson, I played a little joke on her so she’d remember it for next time. Who knew her brain worked so weirdly? Even though we were both just lying in bed, why did she think she was the one who slept with me? Do I look that much like a ‘bottom’?”
Gu Zhanci commented: “Juvenile. Bored.”
Lu Lu shot back: “You think everyone is like you? No nightlife, no sex life. I was saving a stray youth! How is that bored or juvenile?”
Gu Zhanci didn’t feel like dealing with her. “I have a morning meeting tomorrow. Since there’s no issue, I’m heading back.”
Lu Lu waved her hand. “Just get another room here. Going back and forth is a waste of time.”
Gu Zhanci glanced at the messy bed. The thought of how many people had engaged in “flesh-to-flesh combat” on a hotel bed—even if it was a five-star hotel with guaranteed hygiene—made her feel repulsed.
Gu Zhanci got into her car. Just as she started the engine, her phone notification sound began chiming repeatedly.
She opened WeChat and was stunned.
There were several explicit anime images—the art style was exquisite and beautiful, but they were incredibly “fleshy” and uncensored. Upon closer inspection, the sender was Su Ming, whom she had just added. Her nickname was “Mingming Likes You.”
“…” Gu Zhanci’s expression became very meaningful.
Meanwhile, Su Ming was frantically tapping “Withdraw” (Unsend). She didn’t understand why the original host used anime “smut” as memes! She had just wanted to find a suitable emoji to say hello, and the thumbnails looked like they were just girls. She couldn’t see the exact expressions, so she thought she’d tap them to enlarge and check…
Instead, every tap sent a picture. Six pictures went out in an instant.
Su Ming hurriedly withdrew all the images. Not surprisingly, she received a message from Gu Zhanci.
Gu Zhanci: “???”
Gu Zhanci: “Is this how you please your future mother-in-law?”
Su Ming: “…”
