Ending Up with the Female Lead’s Mom - Chapter 6
Su Ming was quite rebellious. Ever since she started working in her previous life, her superiors had demanded that she use WeChat, but she preferred using QQ. As a result, WeChat had always been nothing more than a secondary account for work.
After transmigrating into the book, she hadn’t immediately checked the contents of her WeChat, let alone scrutinized the stickers and memes saved in it.
Facing Gu Zhanci’s question—“Is this how you please your future mother-in-law?”—Su Ming didn’t reply that it was a slip of the hand or that she’d messaged the wrong person. Instead, she thickened her skin and sent a message back: “To know one’s self and one’s enemy is the way to victory in a hundred battles. Does Big Sister not like this method? Actually, I have other ways.”
Gu Zhanci: “…”
She hadn’t expected Su Ming to turn the tables and take control of the conversation. Anyone else would likely have suffered social death by now. But then again, how could someone who opens a conversation by talking about pleasing a future mother-in-law to ease family relations suffer social death so easily?
Gu Zhanci realized her understanding of Su Ming was still too shallow.
She was her daughter’s “simp.”
She was Su Yao’s younger sister.
And… her own future daughter-in-law?
Perhaps because she had heard Su Ming say “future mother-in-law” so many times, she had subconsciously started to entertain the notion, feeling that Su Ming really might become her daughter-in-law one day.
Her thoughts strayed too far, so Gu Zhanci cut them off. The city in the middle of the night had moved away from the hustle and bustle, exuding an unfeeling indifference. Gu Zhanci gripped her phone and sent a voice message: “Go home and sleep early. Don’t send any more of those… those strange pictures.”
Gu Zhanci’s voice held a crisp, clear warmth. When it came through the phone, that crispness was filtered, leaving only concern and tenderness. Su Ming felt her ears go weak.
After a careful inspection of her library, she finally found a suitable emoji: a fluffy cat head.

Gu Zhanci glanced at them; finally, they weren’t “weird” pictures. She stepped on the gas, and the car slowly merged onto the main road.
Su Yao was driving in the front. Seeing Su Ming holding the phone to her ear through the rearview mirror, she turned off the light music in the car and asked, “What are you listening to? It sounds a bit familiar.”
Su Ming made up an excuse: “Just a streamer with a ‘Mature Sister’ voice.”
Su Yao didn’t suspect a thing. “Oh, you like listening to broadcasts now? There are a few midnight programs that are okay; the hosts have good voices. I’ll put one on for you. You used to hate these broadcasts and only liked rock and roll. To be honest, I thought it was just noise.”
It was rare for a “sister-con” like Su Yao to express dislike, which meant the music the original host liked was truly noisy. Su Yao switched to a radio station—a late-night emotional advice program.
Su Yao was tired, but she didn’t dare lose focus while driving, so she chatted with Su Ming to stay awake.
“Speaking of ‘Mature Sister’ voices, Gu Zhanci’s voice is actually really good. The first time I heard her speak, I thought: if such a beautiful voice were used in bed, how seductive and pleasant would it be?”
Su Ming: “…”
Dear Elder Sister, are you the Female Lead’s mom’s long-lost romantic partner? When Su Ming read the novel, she hadn’t noticed Su Yao having this kind of… preference for Gu Zhanci.
Su Yao had spoken without thinking. Because the car was moving fast and the cabin was quiet, Guoguo heard it and blushed. “Sister Yao, you actually want to hear Gu Shiyue’s mom’s voice in bed? That… isn’t that a bit inappropriate?”
Su Yao forgot Guoguo was also in the car and nearly choked on her own saliva. “I mean… I meant I like hearing the moans of mature women in general. I didn’t mean anything else. Don’t overthink it.”
“…” Su Ming covered her mouth to stop herself from laughing out loud.
Guoguo remained skeptical. She probably hadn’t fully transitioned from “I actually slept with that woman” to “It turns out I didn’t sleep with her” yet, so she remained dazed and quiet.
Su Ming asked her, “Guoguo, why don’t you come back to my house with us for now? Also, did you tell your parents before you went out last night? Do you need to let them know you’re safe?”
“I told them. I said I was going to celebrate Susu’s birthday.” Guoguo’s mood plummeted again at the mention of Luo Su.
“That’s good then.” Su Ming inquired, “By the way, what happened yesterday? Did he not like your gift?”
Guoguo’s eyes welled up. “He said the gift I gave wasn’t practical at all—it was just a decoration. He also said he doesn’t like ‘shorties’ and told me to stop pestering him.”
“What did you give him?” Su Ming was curious.
“Paper cranes. I learned it from the lead in an idol drama.”
Su Ming: “…” But you aren’t an idol drama lead.
Su Ming really wanted to tell Guoguo to stop hanging herself on that tree, but likely due to the “simp” character setting in the original book, Guoguo wouldn’t be able to snap out of it just yet.
She said indignantly, “Are you short? You can clearly still grow taller. We both have plenty of room to grow.”
Guoguo nodded. “Mm, Mingming is right.”
Su Yao chimed in from the front: “You can keep growing until your growth plates close. Besides, you aren’t short at all; you’re adorable. It’s called looking youthful.”
Guoguo blushed. “Thank you, Sister Yao.”
Back at home, Su Ming was exhausted and fell asleep the moment her head hit the pillow. Because of the late-night hotel excursion, she didn’t wake up until the sun was high in the sky the next day.
Su Yao had already gone to work. Guoguo was slumped over, her baby face filled with sorrow. “Susu won’t let me ‘simp’ for him anymore.”
Su Ming: “…”
What kind of wild phrasing is that?
“He heard the news from somewhere. He called me early this morning and said he saw me go to a hotel with another woman last night. He said I betrayed him and slept with someone else.”
Su Ming finally understood. “If you slept with someone, you slept with someone. He just enjoys your flattery; now that he sees you’ve made a ‘new start,’ he can’t handle it.”
Luo Su was just a “tool” character. As for whether there was a “regretful pursuit” arc later, Su Ming couldn’t remember—regardless, this couple was destined for a bad ending (BE) in the original book.
Guoguo asked, “Really?”
“Really. It’s the ‘unobtainable’ that keeps him restless. It’s just his possessiveness acting up. He doesn’t want to give you anything, yet he expects you to maintain your ‘chastity’ for him? He’s dreaming.”
Su Ming used a few quotes to easily convince Guoguo. She ate a simple lunch and then received a message from Gu Zhanci.
Gu Zhanci: “Yesterday’s matter hasn’t been fully explained. To avoid unnecessary misunderstandings and trouble, Lu Lu has invited your friend to meet this afternoon to clear things up in person. Add her WeChat for the specific location and time.”
Su Ming: “Copy that.”

Looking at the cat head sticker, Gu Zhanci still couldn’t help but think of the explicit anime images she’d caught a glimpse of the night before. After sending Lu Lu’s contact info, she was about to put her phone down when she received another message from Su Ming.
Su Ming: “Big Sister, will you be there this afternoon too?”
For some reason, Gu Zhanci felt like she could see a big white dog wagging its tail and acting spoiled—and strangely, this “big dog” had a pair of bright, peach blossom eyes.
Gu Zhanci: “…” She rubbed her temples, thinking she was probably just too tired.
“President Gu, this is the proposal for the West Mountain project.”
The secretary walked in and saw Gu Zhanci holding her phone, lingering on it for a long time. In the secretary’s memory, Gu Zhanci never spent time chatting online.
Gu Zhanci snapped back to reality, turned her phone face down, and took the proposal. She gave it a cursory glance and then asked, “Who wrote this? Have them come to my office.”
The secretary knew things were bad and summoned the person tremblingly.
“There are two obvious errors in this proposal. It says the West Mountain project can be developed for tourism, but the window for tourism there is tiny throughout the year. You have zero preparation for how to develop it during the off-season. This is an immature plan. Take it back and redo it.”
The planning department manager left, drenched in sweat.
Seeing that it was time for a break, Gu Zhanci told her secretary to rest. She picked up her phone again and found three more stickers from Su Ming.

Gu Zhanci replied: “Stop with the cats. I’ll be there.”
“Yay!” Su Ming relayed the news to Guoguo.
Guoguo was nervous. “I was so embarrassing last night. I don’t even want to show my face.”
“I was even more embarrassing,” Su Ming muttered. Although she had successfully turned the tables, she also felt a bit ashamed to face Gu Zhanci. She had spent the morning researching and realized the original host’s stickers were all fan-art of fictional couples drawn by “shipper” artists, and even some “monster girls” (kemonomimi). She hoped Gu Zhanci’s eyesight had been poor enough that she hadn’t seen anything clearly—and even more, she hoped Gu Zhanci didn’t think she was the type of person who obsessed over such things.
Guoguo, being a little angel, immediately encouraged her: “How could that be? Mingming, you’re so amazing. Gu Shiyue’s mom is so scary, yet you can talk to her every time and even call her ‘Big Sister.’ I wouldn’t dare.”
Su Ming: “…” I’ll thank you on Gu Zhanci’s behalf.
“But I still want to thank her friend in person. Mingming, can you come with me?” Guoguo acted spoiled.
Su Ming said, “Of course. I don’t have anything to do lately anyway.”
Remembering the blunder from the previous night, Guoguo spent the whole time hiding behind Su Ming as they arrived at the designated restaurant.
Lu Lu raised an eyebrow. “Su Yao didn’t follow you today? Aren’t you afraid I’ll eat you both in one bite?”
Guoguo kept her head down, not daring to speak.
Su Ming specifically sat down next to Gu Zhanci and said in a cozy tone, “I believe my future mother-in-law will protect me. Right, Sister Zhanci?”
Gu Zhanci: “…”
