Foreseeing the Future: The Scheming Movie Queen Married Me - Chapter 8
Dong Yao froze for a second, her phone nearly slipping from her grasp.
“Our two lucky audience members, please come up on stage now,” the host called out with a smile.
Beside her, Lin Yunyi shook Dong Yao’s arm, shouting excitedly, “It’s you, it’s you! Don’t just stand there dazed—get up there, go, go!”
The spotlight converged on her, and every eye in the building followed, including Gu Shiqiu’s on stage.
Dong Yao clenched her fists and took a deep breath to steady herself. With a stiff smile on her face, she began walking toward the stage.
Once she reached the top, the host led Dong Yao and the other lucky fan to stand beside Gu Shiqiu.
A faint, clean fragrance wafted into her nose. Dong Yao’s eyes widened slightly; this light scent was identical to the one she had smelled in her dreams.
The host asked for their names.
Dong Yao calmed down, took the microphone, and replied, “My name is Dong Yao.”
The other lucky fan was clearly several times more excited than Dong Yao: “My name is Zhang Jiazi! I really, really love you, Shiqiu! I’m a fan of your music and your acting. I listen to every song and watch every movie and drama. I just love you so much! Ah, I’m too excited! Can I give you a hug?”
Zhang Jiazi looked at her nervously.
“Of course you can,” Gu Shiqiu said with a gentle smile. She walked over and gave her a hug.
As they embraced, a wave of envious screams erupted from the crowd.
The hug was brief. Gu Shiqiu smiled warmly. “Thank you so much for liking my music and movies.”
Zhang Jiazi’s round face turned completely red from a mix of excitement, nerves, and joy.
Dong Yao stood quietly to the side, her gaze fixed on Gu Shiqiu.
As if sensing it, Gu Shiqiu’s eyes moved past Zhang Jiazi and landed on Dong Yao.
Their eyes met.
Gu Shiqiu gave her a subtle, soft smile. Standing against the backlight, a halo of light seemed to shimmer around her.
For a split second, the person on stage vanished, the audience disappeared, and the world held only Gu Shiqiu and Dong Yao.
Dong Yao could clearly hear her heart give two heavy thumps.
Panicked, she lowered her head.
The host spoke: “The lucky fans chosen to come on stage will receive a signed album and a commemorative concert poster. Furthermore, you each get to ask our Shiqiu three small, appropriate questions!”
Zhang Jiazi was the first to speak: “Shiqiu, I want to ask: when will the new album be released, when does the new drama start airing, and… and… do you have any plans to start dating?”
As soon as the dating question was asked, a “girlfriend fan” in the audience screamed out in excitement. Her voice was so loud she sounded like she was holding a megaphone: “Ah! I don’t allow it! Gu Shiqiu can’t date, she’s my wife!!!”
“What? She’s my wife, okay!”
“Stop arguing, she’s my husband!!!”
Gu Shiqiu looked toward the audience. Listening to the chirping shouts, she smiled tenderly toward the general direction of the noise, though she couldn’t see exactly who said it. “Don’t worry, I have no plans to date for the time being.”
This triggered another round of “ahhh” screams from the crowd.
“My wife is so gentle, ah, I can’t take it.”
“The new album is currently in preparation and should be released next month. I hope you’ll like it then. Rain in the Wind hasn’t been scheduled yet, so I don’t know the specific time, but just like you, I’m very much looking forward to it,” Gu Shiqiu answered the remaining two questions.
Afterward, Gu Shiqiu looked at Dong Yao, waiting for her three questions.
Dong Yao appeared slightly awkward.
Gu Shiqiu comforted her softly: “It’s alright. You can ask anything. If you really don’t have any questions, we can skip it, too.”
Dong Yao usually considered herself eloquent, but right now her mind was a total blank. She couldn’t think of a single thing to ask…
Gu Shiqiu watched her quietly. Her eyes seemed to possess a sort of magic that actually calmed Dong Yao down.
Dong Yao asked: “Have you had dinner?”
The moment those words came out, Gu Shiqiu was visibly stunned. This kind of interaction happened at every concert—it was a signature feature. Usually, fans asked about new dramas, songs, future career moves, or just confessed their love. To be asked if she had eaten dinner… Dong Yao was the only one.
Gu Shiqiu laughed, her voice soft: “I’ve eaten.”
Dong Yao immediately followed up: “Was it good?”
Gu Shiqiu nodded: “It was quite delicious.”
There was one more question. Just as Gu Shiqiu expected her to ask if she was full, Dong Yao shifted the topic completely: “I know how to read palms. Can I take a look at yours?”
Dong Yao’s heart was racing. Of course she didn’t know how to read palms. She only said it because she desperately wanted to confirm one thing.
Does Gu Shiqiu actually have a mole on her wrist?
If she did, then the dream wasn’t a dream. If she didn’t, then it was just a fantasy.
Gu Shiqiu paused for a moment, then held out her hand. “Sure, go ahead and take a look for me.”
Dong Yao grasped her hand. The moment they touched, it was icy.
The tactile sensation was identical to the dream.
Dong Yao bit her lip, pretending to look closely while actually focusing her gaze on the wrist.
Dong Yao’s eyes widened.
There was one.
It was really there.
And it was in the exact same spot as in the dream.
Dong Yao’s grip on Gu Shiqiu’s hand tightened slightly; her heart was pounding violently.
I really have seen the future. It wasn’t a delusion or a hallucination.
Gu Shiqiu winced slightly at the pressure on her hand, her brow furrowing.
“Did you see anything?” Gu Shiqiu’s words pulled Dong Yao’s thoughts back.
Dong Yao quickly let go and scrambled to make up a lie: “It’s… it’s a palm that indicates a life of smooth sailing.”
Gu Shiqiu chuckled. “Is that so? Then it’s a very good palm. Thank you.”
Dong Yao took one deep, long look at her.
Gu Shiqiu added, “While I don’t know how to read palms, I’m actually quite good at reading faces.”
Dong Yao blinked in confusion.
“I think your face…” Gu Shiqiu laughed with a breathy tone. “Is very cute.”
Before Dong Yao could even react, the fans below had already exploded.
“Ahhh! Gu Shiqiu, you’re not allowed to flirt with others! Flirt with me!!!”
