Holding the Sword to Carry Away Senior Sister (Transmigration) - Chapter 5
Glug, glug!!
Listening to the sound of water in her ears, Fu Yan thrashed as a matter of reflex. In both of her lives, she had been a “landlubber”—swimming was a complete fantasy to her.
But no matter how she struggled, she couldn’t surface. Instead, her body felt heavier, as if something were drilling into her flesh and bones wave after wave.
“Mmm…”
Fu Yan felt she couldn’t hold her breath any longer. Just as she opened her mouth to breathe, she realized she wasn’t suffocating.
While she was still wondering why that “thief” had thrown her into this mysterious pool, an agonizing pain suddenly surged through her entire body.
It felt as if ten thousand ants were gnawing at her bones and flesh. The pain was so intense that she couldn’t focus on anything. She struggled desperately in the pool, but the movement only made the agony worse.
Her bones felt like they were being crushed into powder. The sheer despair of the pain nearly made her black out, yet her consciousness remained cruelly sharp, forcing her to feel every layer of suffering.
She couldn’t even manage a scream.
As time slowly trickled by—she had no idea how long—Fu Yan finally snapped her eyes open. With a sudden burst of energy, she performed a “carp leap” and sprang out of the pool.
“Hah… hah, hah!”
Though she hadn’t felt suffocated, she couldn’t help but gasp for air. Ignoring the fact that she was soaking wet, she crawled to the side.
After lying on the ground for a long time to recover, she finally felt like she was truly alive again. She scanned her surroundings; the cave was empty. The “thief” who had carried her here had long since departed.
Actually, that person probably wasn’t a thief.
Fu Yan wasn’t stupid. She could guess that the person from last night wasn’t the man who had been hunting her. If she had truly fallen into that thief’s hands, she would likely be a mangled corpse by now.
But who was that person? Why save her?
Fu Yan couldn’t find the answers to her questions. Since she couldn’t solve the mystery, she stopped dwelling on it; surviving was already the greatest stroke of luck.
However…
Recalling the pain of her bones being crushed and her blood being remade in that pool, Fu Yan frowned slightly.
She remembered the pool being milky white last night, but now it was just clear spring water. She inspected it closely but found nothing special about it anymore.
“Hmm?” As she stood up, she noticed something. She tried jumping in place.
Sensing a change, she stared at her own body and murmured, “I feel so light… my movements are much more powerful and faster than before.”
She quickly reached a conclusion:
“This was actually a Cleansing Pool!”
The book mentioned these—spiritual springs that could refine a cultivator’s constitution. Given the changes in her body, it was the only logical explanation.
Fu Yan thought back to her savior and felt a surge of confusion. Who was that person? Not only did they save my life, but they also gave me such a massive opportunity.
“Whatever. Maybe it was just a kind-hearted hermit.”
Since the person had left no information, she couldn’t figure it out. The original owner was just an orphan and didn’t know any big shots. She shrugged helplessly.
She pulled a fresh dress from her storage bag, quickly changed, and tidied her appearance before walking out of the cave empty-handed.
“My only weapon, the iron sword, was left at the Lin Manor. I’d better get back to the sect quickly,” Fu Yan decided.
Her cultivation was still too low. She needed to return to the sect to open her Qi Sea and break through to the Opening Light Stage. Even now, she could feel the signs of an impending breakthrough.
After last night’s escape, she realized more than ever that in this fantasy cultivation world, strength was the only thing that mattered.
Soon, she began heading toward the outer perimeter of the Chihei Mountains.
Meanwhile, deep in the Chihei Mountains.
Two figures were weaving through the trees at high speed. They seemed to be being hunted; both were sprinting desperately, not daring to stop for a second.
Trailing closely behind them was a giant beast—a Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf, about three meters long with grey fur. It was clearly enraged, its sharp teeth looking capable of tearing a person into eight pieces in a single bite.
One of the escapees, Liu Chuanyuan, glanced back at the relentless wolf and was fuming. He turned to the junior sister beside him: “Junior Sister Yan’er, what on earth did you touch? Why is this Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf so furious?”
Liu Chuanyuan and Xu Yan were inner disciples of the Zilan Sect. Since Xu Yan had just reached the Opening Light Stage, he had brought her to the mountains for experience, but he never expected they would provoke such a beast.
An adult Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf was a top-tier Level 2 magical beast. Even Liu Chuanyuan, who was in the Middle Opening Light Stage, didn’t dare fight it.
“I… I…” Xu Yan was terrified. Seeing the usually gentle and kind Senior Brother Liu questioning her with such anger, she panicked.
Liu Chuanyuan, still pulling her along, was both angry and anxious. “Think! Did you touch something back there?”
Faced with the situation, Xu Yan reluctantly pulled a “Triple-Leaf Ice Spirit Flower” from her storage ring. “I… I just picked one… one of these…”
At the sight of the flower, Liu Chuanyuan understood. “That wolf must have been guarding this flower for ages! You snatched its prize—of course it’s going to fight us to the death!”
Seeing her timid look, Liu Chuanyuan was disgusted. He had only been nice to her because she was pretty; now he realized she was incredibly stupid.
“Then… Senior Brother Liu, what… what do we do now?” Xu Yan could sense that if things got truly dangerous, Liu Chuanyuan would abandon her without a second thought. She had only just broken through, and her True Essence was already running dry.
Liu Chuanyuan cursed inwardly. Xu Yan was part of the same clan as Elder Xu of the sect; he couldn’t just dump her unless it was a last resort.
Suddenly, he spotted something ahead and smirked.
“Junior Sister, give me the flower!” he commanded without hesitation.
“Huh?”
Before she could react, he snatched the flower from her hand and hurled it toward a figure not far to their right.
The whole thing happened in a flash. By the time Xu Yan realized what happened, the flower was gone, flying toward another person.
“Senior Brother Liu! Why did you throw my flower away?” She was heartbroken; she had worked hard to get that.
Liu Chuanyuan lost his temper completely. He hissed through gritted teeth, “If I didn’t throw it, were you waiting for that wolf to tear us into pieces?”
“But…” Seeing his rage, she shut her mouth.
“An enraged beast won’t stop just because it gets its flower back. It won’t be satisfied until it vents its fury,” he added, watching the wolf’s reaction.
Xu Yan looked toward the figure in the distance. “I saw her clothes… she looked like a Shui Ling Sect disciple. If you do this, won’t it…”
“So what if she’s from the Shui Ling Sect? She’s just a Foundation Building trash. Anyone who dares enter the depths of the Chihei Mountains shouldn’t expect to leave alive. Being used by us is her greatest blessing.”
Liu Chuanyuan had recognized the girl’s sect immediately, but he didn’t care. No one cared about the fate of a dead person.
When Fu Yan left the cave, she realized she was in the deep forest—a place where Level 2 beasts roamed. At her level, she could barely handle a Level 1 beast. If she met a Level 2, her only option was to run.
She moved with extreme caution, creeping toward the outer perimeter.
After a while, she heard a sudden, high-speed rustling to her left. She paused and looked over.
She immediately spotted an adult Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf chasing two people with murderous intent. Though she didn’t know what was going on, she knew she shouldn’t get involved. She turned to make a quick exit.
However, the man in the lead suddenly looked her way.
The next second, a cyan-blue flower flew straight at her. It was moving so fast that by the time she reacted, it had landed firmly in her arms.
Fu Yan: “…”
“A Triple-Leaf Ice Spirit Flower?” She was surprised to recognize the strange, freezing flower. It felt like holding a block of ice. For an ice-attribute cultivator, it was a priceless treasure.
Fu Yan didn’t for a second believe those two were being generous.
Sure enough, the wolf that had been chasing them instantly veered off and charged directly at her.
“They’re using me as bait!”
Fu Yan considered herself to have a good temperament, but at this moment, she wanted to scream profanities. She had no time, though; the wolf was almost upon her.
Even if she threw the flower away now, the wolf wouldn’t let her go. She turned and began a desperate sprint.
One life-and-death escape last night, and another one today? Fu Yan felt like the unluckiest person alive.
While Liu Chuanyuan had recognized her sect, she had also recognized them as disciples of the Zilan Sect.
This debt would definitely be settled.
