Holding the Sword to Carry Away Senior Sister (Transmigration) - Chapter 7
Sensing the changes within her body, Fu Yan knew she was on the verge of a breakthrough. As long as she could successfully open her Qi Sea, she would step into the Opening Light Stage.
Suddenly remembering something, she hurriedly opened her storage bag and pulled out the Triple-Leaf Ice Spirit Flower.
It was the very same flower the Zilan Sect disciples had thrown at her.
“I didn’t expect this flower to come in handy so soon.” Looking at the flower in her hand, Fu Yan couldn’t help but smile. Through a strange twist of fate, she had obtained a treasure. If those two from the Zilan Sect found out, they’d probably cough up blood in rage.
Without further hesitation, she swallowed the Triple-Leaf Ice Spirit Flower, closed her eyes, and prepared to open her Qi Sea in one fell swoop.
Fu Yan guided the restless spiritual energy toward her dantian. Her entire body trembled, but she gritted her teeth and persisted, even as the spiritual power felt like it was about to blow her body apart.
However, things soon quieted down.
The first attempt to open the Qi Sea failed.
Opening a Qi Sea was never easy. Those who could succeed on their first try were all famous geniuses. Given Fu Yan’s mediocre talent and the fact that she had no one to guide her, failing the first time was perfectly normal.
She wasn’t discouraged.
Taking a shallow breath, she drew in the surrounding spiritual energy again for a second attempt.
During the first try, she had been a bit too anxious to succeed. This time, she intentionally calmed her mind, slowly guiding the spiritual energy to circulate through her body.
As time trickled by, she opened her eyes again. Her fair forehead was covered in beads of sweat, and her brows were tightly knit.
The second attempt failed as well.
“The talent of this body really is too ordinary. Even after being tempered by the Cleansing Pool, it’s still unsatisfactory.” Fu Yan shook her head helplessly, but she didn’t give up.
Armed with the reasons for her previous failures, her third attempt was much more skillful. She slowly guided the energy to her dantian, which felt like a chaotic universe.
In the pitch-black void, she searched with her spiritual energy and finally spotted a tiny spark of light. Without hesitation, she gathered all her energy and charged straight at that point of light.
In an instant, a massive force of impact erupted within her.
“Open up!”
Sweat soaked the hair at her temples, but she ignored it. As the spiritual energy collided with the spark, she let out a low growl.
The next moment, the once-turbulent aura fell into a profound calm. Fu Yan opened her eyes, panting heavily as if she had just run a thousand meters. Sweat gathered on her forehead and rolled slowly down her cheeks.
“Finally… I finally succeeded!” She wiped the sweat away with her sleeve and broke into a brilliant smile.
It took three tries, but she had finally opened her Qi Sea. Fu Yan was now officially at the Early Opening Light Stage. She could feel the True Essence within her; the power was exceptionally surging and vast.
She had always known there was a world of difference between Foundation Building and Opening Light, but only after experiencing it herself did she realize how vulnerable a Foundation Building cultivator was in the face of this power.
After resting for a bit, she circulated the Frost Tempering Sutra again to calm her excited state.
The sutra wasn’t easy to master. At most, she had only just scratched the surface—nowhere near the first layer—but she could already feel the power of the technique.
“It seems this isn’t just a common Grade 5 body-refining technique.” Fu Yan speculated it might be Grade 2 or even Grade 3. Her heart skipped a beat at the thought; if it really was Grade 3, she had hit the jackpot.
Over the next few days, she split her time between consolidating her cultivation with the sutra and practicing the sword techniques the original owner had known from start to finish.
Inside the dim stone cave, she lost track of time, but she estimated it had been about three or four days.
She wondered if that Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf was still waiting outside.
Once her cultivation was stable, she finally stood up. It was time to leave. Now, she no longer feared the wolf.
Before leaving, she didn’t discard the broken sword—the Ling Long Sword. Since it contained such a high-level body-refining technique, it likely wasn’t an ordinary blade. Thinking bigger, it might even be a high-grade spiritual weapon.
When she practiced her sword forms in the cave, she used this broken sword. Even though it was fractured, its power was not to be underestimated.
After tidying herself up, she began to feel her way back through the tunnel. Soon, she saw light ahead.
“I’m finally out!”
Overjoyed, she quickened her pace. Within a few breaths, she reached the edge of the crevice. To check if the wolf was still there, she peered down carefully. After triple-checking, she concluded that the beast had left. After all, several days had passed; even the most patient beast had to return to its lair eventually.
Actually, Fu Yan was a bit disappointed. Having just broken through, she wanted to test her new strength. While an adult Bloodthirsty Ice Wolf was comparable to a Late Opening Light cultivator, beasts weren’t as smart as humans. She might not be able to kill it, but she could have held her own for a few rounds.
“Whatever, I need to hurry back to the sect.” The deadline for the flower-plucking thief mission was likely approaching. Though she wasn’t sure if the thief had survived her explosion talisman, she had to report back.
She ran toward the outskirts of the Chihei Mountains. While she could technically fly on a sword now, it wasn’t very practical in the dense forest.
She made it out of the mountains just before sunset.
However, it wasn’t long before she realized she was being followed. Two familiar auras appeared not far behind her. She paused for a moment, then a smile spread across her face.
“I haven’t even gone looking for you two yet, and you’ve delivered yourselves to my doorstep!”
Indeed, the ones following her were the Zilan Sect disciples from the deep forest—the ones who had framed her and nearly cost her her life.
Liu Chuanyuan and Xu Yan hadn’t left the mountains after escaping the wolf; they had stayed to continue their training. Just moments ago, while they were picking a spiritual herb, Liu Chuanyuan had suddenly sensed Fu Yan’s aura.
Seeing that she wasn’t dead and had actually broken through to the Opening Light Stage, Liu Chuanyuan’s eyes turned cold. He led his junior sister to intercept her on their swords.
As a Middle Opening Light cultivator, Liu Chuanyuan’s True Essence was much more robust than Fu Yan’s. He caught up quickly, landing firmly right in front of her.
He stared at her with a fake, chilly smile. “You certainly have good luck, Miss. Not only are you alive, but you’ve even broken through. I suppose you have us to thank for that opportunity.”
“What do you want?” Fu Yan stopped, staring coldly at him.
Xu Yan caught up as well. She was surprised to see Fu Yan alive, but her main concern was her treasure. “Since you’re not dead, give me back my Triple-Leaf Ice Spirit Flower! I worked hard to pick that!”
Fu Yan was speechless. Does this girl ever use her brain?
The framing incident was their fault. If word of this reached the two sects, Liu Chuanyuan would lose face entirely. Someone as decisive as him would never let Fu Yan walk away easily.
As expected, Liu Chuanyuan’s voice grew colder. “To dare steal a treasure from disciples of the Zilan Sect… even if you are from the Shui Ling Sect, don’t think you’re leaving today.”
Fu Yan listened quietly. The way he twisted the facts was almost impressive; if she weren’t the victim, she might have clapped for him.
“I suggest you hand over my junior sister’s treasure obediently, then cripple your own cultivation. If you do, I might just let you live.”
