Holding the Sword to Carry Away Senior Sister (Transmigration) - Chapter 9
Fu Yan traveled on her sword, only slowing down once she was five or six hundred miles away from the Chihei Mountains.
Finding a moment of peace, she pulled out the storage rings she had taken from the two Zilan Sect disciples to see what kind of wealth they possessed.
Storage rings and storage bags were both items used to store belongings in this world, containing their own internal space. However, storage rings were far more precious; even a common low-grade ring had a space ten times larger than a storage bag.
Given Fu Yan’s previous status, she naturally didn’t own a storage ring—only a small storage bag. This time, she had truly made a killing.
Storage rings required a drop of blood to recognize a master. Since Liu Chuanyuan and his companion were dead, Fu Yan easily erased their imprints and replaced them with her own blood.
After a thorough inspection, she couldn’t help but click her tongue. These two were just ordinary inner disciples, yet their net worth was quite impressive.
A rough calculation showed that their low-grade spirit stones totaled 3,026, and they even had ten mid-grade spirit stones. Regardless of anything else, the stones alone made this a massive profit. The original owner’s background was too ordinary, leaving her dirt-poor; her storage bag had barely contained a few dozen low-grade spirit stones.
With a smile, she finished counting the stones and continued rummaging through the rings. Besides the currency, there were various pills. The duo must have had a productive time in the mountains, as there was a pile of precious medicinal herbs and natural treasures—including several ice and water-attribute items.
Since Fu Yan practiced the Frost Tempering Sutra, these could be put to perfect use.
The remaining items were basic manuals, but they were all Zilan Sect sword and fist techniques. Fu Yan naturally couldn’t learn these; if she did, the deaths of Liu Chuanyuan and Xu Yan would surely be traced back to her.
After clearing out the items, she smiled with satisfaction. She took out two True Qi Pills and swallowed them immediately. The previous battle had nearly exhausted her True Essence, leaving her body feeling weak.
As she flew toward the Shui Ling Sect, she quietly regulated her breathing. Because she took her time on the latter half of the journey, it took more than half a day to return.
The Shui Ling Sect consisted of three main peaks. The leftmost peak was where outer disciples lived and trained; the rightmost peak belonged to the inner disciples; and the largest peak in the center served as the face of the sect, used for major events and receiving guests.
Fu Yan arrived at the foot of the three peaks. Looking up at the mountains piercing the clouds, she felt a stir of emotion. The prospect of truly beginning her journey in cultivation was exciting, and the grand scale of the sect filled her with passion.
Steeling her nerves, she headed up the left peak. Even though she was now at the Opening Light Stage and eligible for the inner sect, there were still procedures to follow.
Upon returning to the outer sect, her first stop was the Mission Hall.
The Mission Hall was where disciples accepted tasks for experience and rewards. While failure was a bit embarrassing, no one really cared much. At mid-afternoon, the hall was crowded. Disciples packed all three floors, carefully checking missions while weighing their own strength.
Fu Yan’s appearance naturally stirred up a bit of gossip.
“Wait, who is that? She actually broke through to the Opening Light Stage? She should be heading to the inner sect soon!”
“I want to go to the inner sect so badly. I heard the resources are way better. The outer sect is basically just ‘free-range’ training. But with my mediocre talent, I don’t know if I’ll ever have the chance.”
“Isn’t that Senior Sister Fu Yan? I remember she was only at the 9th Layer of Foundation Building before she left. She broke through in just a few days? She must have found a great opportunity down the mountain.”
“I’m so jealous. I want to go down for training too!”
“…”
Both the original owner and the current Fu Yan had cold, solitary temperaments and were used to being alone, so she ignored the chatter. Holding her mission guide, she walked up to the managing elder.
“Elder Lin, I’m here to turn in my mission.”
Elder Lin had been napping. At her voice, he looked up like a lazy cat. Seeing Fu Yan, he showed no expression, simply took the guide, and began the registration.
“Eliminate the 9th Layer Foundation Building thief in Heiquan Town. Status: Completed.”
After logging it, Elder Lin pulled out three hundred low-grade spirit stones, counted them, and tossed them to Fu Yan. “Your reward.” Having said that, the lazy elder closed his eyes again.
Fu Yan took the stones with a bit of surprise. She had thought the mission might be considered a failure since she wasn’t sure if the thief died, but it seemed he was indeed dead. Whether she killed him or not, the mission was considered successful.
Another three hundred stones for free, she thought.
Leaving the hall, she returned to her quarters based on her memory. She didn’t have many belongings, and her main assets were in her storage ring, so she packed her bags quickly. Next, she went straight to the Deacon’s Hall.
“Hm, since your cultivation has reached the Opening Light Stage, follow me to the inner sect for registration.” An elder at the hall nodded with satisfaction. A sixteen-year-old at the Opening Light Stage wasn’t breathtakingly brilliant, but she ranked in the upper-middle tier of talent.
The elder registered her info, revoked her outer disciple plaque, and led her to the rightmost peak.
As soon as they landed, Fu Yan felt the serious atmosphere of the inner sect. No one was visible on the massive square, but the fluctuations of True Qi coming from the woods suggested everyone was hard at work.
At the inner Deacon’s Hall, the outer elder handed Fu Yan over to a certain Elder Li before returning to the outer peak.
“When did you break through?” Elder Li asked, staring at her.
Fu Yan was slightly startled. She couldn’t see Elder Li’s cultivation level, meaning he was at least an entire realm higher than her. The inner sect was indeed full of top-tier powerhouses.
“Reporting to Elder, I broke through during my training down the mountain two days ago,” she answered truthfully.
Elder Li nodded and said no more. He handed her a wooden identity plaque. “This is your inner disciple plaque.”
Fu Yan took it. Her name was neatly engraved on it. The wood was a strange material—it felt as light as a sheet of paper.
“The rules of the inner sect are similar to the outer sect,” Elder Li explained. “Disciples train on their own. The difference is that the inner sect has its own strength rankings. You can check yours by injecting True Essence into the plaque.”
Curious, Fu Yan injected a strand of True Essence. A screen of information projected before her.
Rank 1: Bai Yueli
Rank 2: Yu Heng
Rank 3: Lin Zihao
Fu Yan glanced at the top three, then quickly scrolled to find her own name. Unsurprisingly, it was at the very bottom.
Rank 832: Fu Yan
Fu Yan: “…”
“If you want to raise your rank, you must challenge other disciples. If you win, you take their rank. You cannot challenge anyone more than thirty ranks above you at once. Of course, the annual inner sect tournament is coming up, so those rules won’t matter then—opponents will be decided by lots.”
Fu Yan nodded, understanding. Without the “thirty-rank” rule, a last-place person could harass the first-place person constantly. The inner sect was clearly more cutthroat; everyone here had talent, and no one wanted to be a background character.
“Alright, here is your inner disciple uniform. Find any empty courtyard and settle in.” Elder Li handed her the clothes and waved her away.
Fu Yan took the uniform and thanked him: “Disciple thanks the Elder.”
She walked out of the hall. As she returned to the square, she noticed a group of disciples rushing in one direction. Before she could ask, she heard the chatter.
“Quick, to the arena! I heard Senior Brother Yu Heng is challenging Senior Sister Bai Yueli!!”
