- Chapter 7 - How Are Business Trip Allowances Calculated?
Early in the morning, Shu Qian took a car to Qi Qing’s home, a famous luxury estate in the city. The names of the residents could be found in business magazines, and by coincidence, she also knew someone who lived there.
She sat in the reception area, trying to hide, afraid of running into someone she knew. The clothes she was wearing today were deliberately chosen—affordable brands that office workers loved. Amidst the luxury brands starting with G, C, H, and L that were coming and going, she looked out of place.
So, no one paid any attention to her, which made Shu Qian feel relieved. She lowered her head and counted down. At exactly 7:20, Qi Qing appeared in the lobby, accompanied by a woman who seemed to be her assistant, carrying her bag and suitcase.
Shu Qian and the driver immediately went to meet them. After taking the laptop bag and suitcase, the group got into the car and headed to the airport.
Qi Qing got into the car first. When Shu Qian sat inside, the faint scent from her comforted the Alpha, who was still bothered by her biological instincts. Her cold, stern expression softened slightly. The assistant’s scent could indeed calm her down.
Her deep brown eyes, hidden beneath long eyelashes, made her thoughts unreadable. Recalling the unanswered question from yesterday, Qi Qing broke the silence in the car. “The perfume you mentioned yesterday, what brand was it?”
As she was preparing for early check-in, Shu Qian paused. She took out a bottle of perfume that was two-thirds full from her bag and handed it to her. “DKNY Be Delicious. Would you like to smell it?”
Qi Qing stared at the bottle in her hand for a few seconds before taking it. “Thank you.” She dabbed a little on her fair hand and lifted it.
The scent of apple mixed with flowers.
Her throat tightened, and it stirred up some unspeakable fantasies. Qi Qing suddenly crossed her legs, unbuttoned the top button of her shirt, and her proper posture instantly took on a hint of glamour.
“It’s a very nice perfume, thank you.” As she returned the perfume, her fingers seemed to accidentally brush against Shu Qian’s palm. It was the scent of apples, but it wasn’t the same scent she was smelling now. Qi Qing thanked her meaningfully.
Shu Qian. She silently repeated the name. Qi Qing looked down at the personal information the HR manager had sent her, feeling as if she had figured something out.
Hearing her thank you, Shu Qian thought she had successfully pulled off her bluff and smiled, shaking her head.
She hadn’t been wearing any perfume at all. She had just bought this bottle and poured out one-third of it to make it look used. The scent Qi Qing was talking about, if she hadn’t guessed wrong, was probably her own faint pheromone scent.
Even though she had used an inhibitor patch, bonded Alphas and Omegas were particularly sensitive to each other’s scents, especially since they were a perfectly matched pair according to the Health Center.
Just like now, she could also smell Qi Qing’s moth orchid scent.
The scent that had once mingled inside her body.
Shu Qian suddenly clenched her fist, telling herself to stop thinking nonsense.
When they got off the plane, Qi Qing glanced at the laptop bag in Shu Qian’s hand. She reached out her hand. “Give it to me.”
Shu Qian was confused. “CEO Qi, what do you need…”
“Give me the laptop. I’ll take it.” Qi Qing followed her instinct, taking Shu Qian’s hand and taking the two laptops from her palm. At the same time, she saw the delicate skin that had been pressed with red marks. She clicked her tongue in her mind. Still so soft.
With a calm expression, she said to the astonished Shu Qian, “Let’s go.” She turned and walked away.
Her unusual behavior—if Xu Yuxi had been there, she would have been flattered. But Shu Qian, who had a guilty conscience, began to feel a little uneasy.
Who was Qi Qing? She was an eyesore to the Alpha siblings in her family, a child who was always held up as an example by the elders. Not to mention, after taking over the company, she gradually surpassed the originally equally matched Shu family, making the elders feel both appreciation for her talent and resentment that she wasn’t their own child.
Because of the business rivalry, the Shu family had fallen behind, and the family became more and more resentful of Qi Qing.
She was an Omega who was not a focus of her family’s attention, and she didn’t need to attend family banquets, which she was happy about. But she had also heard some stories about Qi Qing, including how noble and arrogant she was, a pure aristocratic demeanor. Omegas flocked to her, and there were even some Betas and Alphas who admired her.
Usually, it was these admirers who would do everything to please Qi Qing, like carrying her bag… It was something that would never happen to her. If she were an Omega, you could say it was an Alpha’s courtesy. But she was a Beta now.
That’s if Qi Qing also believes she’s a Beta.
Shu Qian paused. She felt that maybe she should quit.
When they arrived at the branch company, the CEO was waiting downstairs to greet them. She followed Qi Qing into the elevator, and as she habitually went to stand behind her, her arm was suddenly grabbed. Shu Qian looked up and met Qi Qing’s eyes.
She silently stopped and stood beside her.
Qi Qing finally let go and continued listening to the branch CEO’s explanation of the company’s situation.
When they were about to enter the CEO’s office, Xu Yuxi had instructed her that some confidential matters didn’t require their presence. Shu Qian prepared to stop at the door.
Qi Qing looked back at her from the doorway. “You come too.”
“…” Shu Qian resigned herself to her fate and walked in, assuming she was needed to take notes.
However, during the entire meeting of senior executives, her only purpose was to sit next to Qi Qing. There was no need for her to take notes. She could only force herself to stay alert and smile for two hours.
After the meeting, the other person said that a restaurant had been arranged. Qi Qing nodded. “I’ll go back to the hotel first and head over later.”
She took Shu Qian to the hotel to check in, and the two went to Qi Qing’s presidential suite to settle in.
Shu Qian and the hotel staff organized Qi Qing’s personal belongings, lit some incense, and turned on the air purifier that had been pre-activated. After preparing the drinking water, tea set, and coffee machine, she found the woman sitting on the sofa in the living room.
“CEO Qi, everything is ready. A driver has been arranged to take you to the restaurant for dinner at 6:30 PM. If there’s nothing else, I’ll be leaving now.” After walking all day, her toes ached in her high heels. Shu Qian endured the discomfort and stood in front of her.
“You’re coming with me later,” Qi Qing said, staring at the tablet in her hand. She was wearing a pair of silver-rimmed glasses and was reading financial news.
“But, CEO Gao said he only invited you…” Shu Qian felt conflicted. After being tired all day, she desperately wanted to lie down and rest. And Qi Qing was acting so strangely today, which made her feel uneasy and want to avoid spending time with her.
“Did he say that?” Qi Qing looked up and countered, her tone cold and firm.
When a boss said something like that, under her strict gaze, Shu Qian could only resign herself and nod. “Okay, I understand.” Going on a business trip with Qi Qing, 996 wasn’t enough; it had to be 7/11, where she could take care of her at any time. Overtime was one thing, but she had to deal with social engagements she so desperately wanted to avoid.
At 6:25 PM, Shu Qian was about to go upstairs to get Qi Qing. She didn’t expect to open the door and find her standing there. Shu Qian was stunned. “CEO Qi? You’re ready?”
Qi Qing subtly sized her up. She was still wearing her ordinary work suit, and her black-rimmed glasses almost covered one-third of her face. She looked away. “Yes. Let’s go.”
The branch CEO had booked a Chinese restaurant, and the dishes that came out were all top-tier, like lobster and abalone. Anything expensive was ordered. Although she didn’t dare to encourage Qi Qing to drink, the job of accompanying the guests and drinking fell to Shu Qian.
She had had some milk beforehand to coat her stomach, but she still couldn’t drink much. After a few rounds, she became uncontrollably drunk.
“Are you drunk?”
“Huh?” Her brain, under the influence of alcohol, was slow to think, and she felt sleepy. She heard someone next to her speaking and turned, only to find it was Qi Qing. “Not yet…”
“Not yet?” Qi Qing looked at her expression. There was a hazy look in her eyes, and she hadn’t even noticed that only the two of them were left in the private room. A slight smile appeared on her face. “Then I’m relieved.”
Shu Qian didn’t understand. She looked up and saw Qi Qing holding a wine glass and saying to her, “Have a few drinks with me.”
Qi Qing saw her purse her lips, seemingly a little unhappy, but she still picked up her glass, lifted her hand, and clinked it against Qi Qing’s, making a crisp sound.
She tilted her head back and drank it. For the first time, Shu Qian smiled at her. “I finished it.”
Qi Qing also drank the mineral water she had poured into her glass, feeling no guilt about deceiving a drunk person. “I finished mine too.”
When CEO Gao came back after paying the bill, he saw the assistant asleep on the table, and Qi Qing waiting beside her. “Ms. Shu is asleep. I’ll help you get her to the car.” He assumed Qi Qing wouldn’t possibly help an assistant.
“No need. I can help her myself.” Qi Qing refused without a second thought. She leaned down and whispered a few words into Shu Qian’s ear. The assistant, who had been fast asleep, immediately stood up and followed Qi Qing.
The three of them walked to the restaurant entrance, where her car was already waiting. After helping Shu Qian into the car, Qi Qing got in as well. “We’ll be going now. Thank you for your hospitality tonight.”
“It was my honor to have this opportunity to dine with you.” CEO Gao’s praise was sincere.
Qi Qing nodded, closed the car door, and the driver pulled away.
After returning to the hotel, she took Shu Qian back to her room. After putting her on the bed, she didn’t leave. Instead, she sat on the edge of the bed, staring at the completely drunk Shu Qian’s sleeping face for a few seconds before reaching out and taking off her glasses.
After getting a clear look at her face, Qi Qing smiled silently.
“You so righteously refused me, but it turns out you were hiding right next to me. If Xu Yuxi hadn’t taken leave, how much longer would it have taken me to find you?” Qi Qing’s thumb traced her lips. She thought for a moment, then unbuttoned the top three buttons of her shirt, revealing her nape. Sure enough, she saw the inhibitor patch.
She carefully peeled off the patch, and that familiar scent slowly wafted from Shu Qian’s body. Qi Qing lowered her head and leaned against her nape, breathing in the scent with a look of obsession. Finally, she couldn’t help but lick it, and a sense of satisfaction surged within her.
At the same time, a more intense craving arose. She wanted to bite through her skin and cover her with her own scent, just like that perfume bottle.
Be Delicious.
So tantalizing.
