How to Conquer the Tsundere Second Female Lead (GL) - Chapter 2
If Chu Fan disliked He Yujuan so much when she wrote the novel, she was equally stunned by her now. All the protagonists in old-school romance novels were handsome men and beautiful women, which inadvertently benefited her.
Looking at the beautiful woman standing before her, radiating hostility, Chu Fan’s heart actually quickened. She never expected that the second female lead she had created would be her absolute ideal type. She hadn’t been conscious of these feelings in junior high, so it seemed fate had decided this long ago. She hadn’t met her ideal partner in her real life, but now that she had transmigrated, she was surrounded by eye-candy. Even the little maid was quite cute, but He Yujuan was closer to her ideal—those high heels were tapping right into her heart.
“What kind of look is that? Are you looking down on me? Don’t think that just because Brother Minyi likes you, you can get ahead of yourself. Auntie and Uncle don’t accept you, they prefer me. The one who will ultimately marry Brother Minyi can only be me.” He Yujuan sneered, looking proud. “I’ve been with Brother Minyi since we were children. He’s only interested in you out of novelty right now.”
Chu Fan didn’t really care about this. She wasn’t the original Chu Fan of the book and wasn’t devoted to Ye Minyi. However, He Yujuan was still that He Yujuan, and getting her to give up Ye Minyi and fall for herself might take some effort.
“Ah… Miss He, why are you here? Miss Chu didn’t mean anything by it, she…”
“Is it your turn to speak here?” Xiao Que was about to speak up for Chu Fan when He Yujuan glared at her. “I’m going to be the mistress here in the future. Shouldn’t you be trying to curry favor with me?”
He Yujuan couldn’t hide her emotions; every feeling was written on her face, and her hands unconsciously clenched into fists. Chu Fan quietly observed He Yujuan’s actions and expressions, sighing inwardly that this was indeed a wealthy young lady born into privilege who had never suffered hardship—she lost her composure and grace the moment she encountered a serious rival. Of course, Chu Fan wasn’t a rival now, and she hoped He Yujuan’s hostility toward her would slowly lessen.
Xiao Que looked utterly pitiful. She was a young maid, younger than both of them, and being spoken to like that must be hurtful. Chu Fan pursed her lips and offered a smile. She picked up a slice of matcha cake from the table, held it out to He Yujuan, and laughed, “Have a bite. It’s the same if I try to please you, right?”
He Yujuan’s expression became even more complicated, perhaps fueled by renewed anger, turning her face slightly red. After a moment, she raised her hand and slapped the cake out of Chu Fan’s hand, hitting Chu Fan’s hand as well, making it turn red.
“Miss Chu!” Xiao Que gasped, about to rush over to check Chu Fan’s reddening hand, but Chu Fan looked at her nonchalantly and said, “I’m fine. You go tidy up the guest rooms first. I want to talk to Miss He.”
Perhaps comforted by Chu Fan’s gentle smile, or perhaps realizing she couldn’t help the situation, Xiao Que gave Chu Fan a worried look before turning and going upstairs.
“Chu Fan! Did you do that on purpose? What do you mean by giving me a green cake?” After Xiao Que left, He Yujuan immediately lost it, her beautiful face becoming somewhat contorted.
Heaven knows my heart! Chu Fan was slightly wronged internally. She had deliberately chosen the matcha cake because she knew He Yujuan liked matcha! She gently rubbed her hand. “No special meaning. I just remembered seeing you eat matcha mousse at a ball before, so I thought you’d prefer a matcha-flavored cake.”
The novel had mentioned this scene: At the ball hosted by the Ye family, which invited many corporate tycoons, He Yujuan was hiding near the dessert table, angrily eating matcha mousse while watching her and Ye Minyi dance.
Although the ball scene felt a bit embarrassing, it was popular at the time, and it was the perfect detail to bring up now. Chu Fan secretly watched He Yujuan’s reaction and noticed the young girl paused, momentarily stunned.
Sure enough, girls are easily moved by details. Chu Fan nodded in satisfaction inwardly.
He Yujuan was indeed surprised. No one besides her brother had ever known her preferences since childhood. To be understood so thoroughly by her rival made her feel complex emotions. What is Chu Fan planning? She didn’t know, but one thing was certain: this seemingly innocent and gentle person had been her love rival for almost a year. She definitely had some kind of motive.
“Are you observing me to find something to hold over me?” After thinking it over, this was the only possibility. He Yujuan narrowed her eyes at the smiling Chu Fan. She felt Chu Fan had changed, but couldn’t pinpoint how.
“No, I just don’t want to keep this kind of relationship with you. Can’t we be friends?” Chu Fan looked at He Yujuan sincerely.
“Friends? Chu Fan, you’re quite naive. We can never be friends. If you hadn’t shown up, Brother Minyi and I might be engaged right now.” He Yujuan bit her lip, and as she spoke, her eyes welled up with tears.
Impossible. She knew the characters she had written best. Although she didn’t know what she was thinking at the time, Ye Minyi had never truly liked He Yujuan and had even strung her along. Without her, Ye Minyi would have moved on to someone else, and He Yujuan would always be the one who got hurt.
“Does it have to be Ye Minyi?” Chu Fan felt a pang of sympathy. She regretted having portrayed He Yujuan so tragically—a privileged young lady who couldn’t have the person she loved and ended up just being a clown.
“What do you mean? What do you know? What do you know!” Perhaps Chu Fan had hit a nerve, as He Yujuan suddenly raised her hand. Chu Fan reflexively closed her eyes, preparing to receive the beautiful girl’s slap.
However, the expected pain didn’t arrive. Oh right, she had forgotten she was in a romance novel world now. Even if the plot might change due to her interference, it should largely remain the same. The original text she wrote had a similar scene where He Yujuan tried to hit her, but Ye Minyi, who had rushed home, stopped her. And now, that exact scene was unfolding.
“He Yujuan, are you crazy? The front door of my house isn’t unlocked just so you can walk in and talk nonsense.” Ye Minyi seemed to be suppressing his anger, and his grip on He Yujuan’s arm tightened. “Apologize to Secretary Chu.”
“Brother Minyi, that hurts so much…” He Yujuan clearly hadn’t expected Ye Minyi to return suddenly, nor did she expect him to treat her this way in front of others. Her eyes were filled with tears.
Damn it, why is he grabbing the beautiful girl so hard? Beautiful girls shouldn’t be treated like that! Chu Fan immediately stepped forward and gently pulled on Ye Minyi’s arm, saying, “Let go of her first.”
“None of your business! Why are you pretending to be nice!” He Yujuan’s emotions erupted again, but this time she sounded miserable, her voice choked with sobs.
Imagine a beautiful girl, 168 cm tall, crying pitifully in front of you, yet still trying to act arrogant—the epitome of tsundere. What would your reaction be? Chu Fan thought that the second female lead she had created truly struck a chord with her. She genuinely wanted to pull the beautiful girl into her arms and comfort her, letting her feel an older sister’s warmth, even though they were technically the same age now.
“He Yujuan! Don’t make me say it a second time, apologize.” The veins on Ye Minyi’s forehead were pulsing; it was clear he was reaching his limit. “Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because our families are friends. Chu Fan is the person I deeply love. Treating her like this is treating me as an enemy.”
“Why should I apologize? Brother Minyi, Auntie and Uncle won’t let you be together. It’s better for you to break up sooner.” He Yujuan was stubborn, still trying to persuade Ye Minyi. “You should find someone who is a good match for you. Who is she anyway? Just a secre—”
“Is your family not watching you anymore for you to be able to say such things?” A cold voice interrupted He Yujuan’s words. “He Yujuan, is this how your family raised you?”
That was too harsh. Chu Fan looked at Ye Minyi, then at He Yujuan. The atmosphere turned awkward.
“Don’t say that. It’s alright, I’m fine. I’ll just go home now.” I’ll try to become friends with He Yujuan next time. The atmosphere is wrong with Ye Minyi here. Chu Fan thought helplessly, preparing to leave the mansion.
But Ye Minyi held her hand. He pursed his lips and looked at her. “You can stay here for a few more days. I…”
“No need, I’ll go home.” Chu Fan was relieved that she was only in junior high when she wrote the novel and hadn’t written any explicit scenes between the male and female leads. Otherwise, she wouldn’t know what to do. Staying in the mansion would definitely involve physical contact, and even if it didn’t go all the way, she felt uncomfortable just thinking about it.
“Then I’ll drive you.” Seeing Chu Fan’s resolve, Ye Minyi didn’t press her. He turned to He Yujuan, his gentle tone instantly turning stern. “Go home. Don’t keep coming here if there’s no reason.” With that, he took Chu Fan’s hand and left, leaving a disgruntled He Yujuan behind.
Chu Fan looked back. He Yujuan made no move, her silhouette looking utterly dejected. Perhaps outsiders wouldn’t know that a glamorous, privileged young lady could be so completely devastated by love. Ultimately, it was all because of Ye Minyi, and Ye Minyi was the male lead she had written… which meant she was the one who created this mess. Chu Fan got into Ye Minyi’s Rolls-Royce Phantom, sighed as she buckled her seatbelt.
“I’m sorry, Fanfan. I apologize to you on her behalf. She’s just spoiled from childhood, but she’s not a bad person.” Ye Minyi glanced at her apologetically.
“Yeah, I know.” Chu Fan nodded and looked out the window. The weather wasn’t great today, all grey and cloudy, which made her reflection clearer.
The female lead in the book was a very gentle person with a slightly delicate personality. She had long hair parted in the middle, the same hairstyle as her in real life. If the real her was a sophisticated, strong woman, the one in the book was a sweetie, only 165 cm tall—3 cm shorter than He Yujuan! Suddenly remembering this detail, Chu Fan felt a little helpless. Her real-life height was 173 cm with long legs. If she had time to date, she’d have endless tricks up her sleeve, but playing the gentle and sweet character now might be a challenge.
“I wasn’t trying to defend her. She’s young and immature right now; maybe she’ll get better later.” Seeing Chu Fan’s somewhat perfunctory reply, Ye Minyi became slightly anxious. “I only love you.”
“Ye Minyi, He Yujuan is so beautiful and your childhood friend. Did you really never feel anything for her?” Faced with Ye Minyi’s declaration, Chu Fan didn’t know how to react, so she asked the obvious question.
“No, Fanfan, you have to believe me.”
Ye Minyi sounded very sincere, and his voice was slightly hurried, afraid she might misunderstand. Yet, she knew that future events would change.
“Thank you.” After a moment’s thought, Chu Fan awkwardly uttered two words, which made Ye Minyi pause.
