I Became the White Moonlight’s Ex-Wife (GL) - Chapter 14
Although she hadn’t finished the novel A Kiss You Under the Starlight, Wen Su still remembered the relationships between the main characters.
For example, Fang Yingru was a key member of Chu Jingshu’s best friend group. In the original novel, she came back to the country to pursue her childhood crush.
Could her arrival have had such a big impact that Fang Yingru now liked Chu Jingshu instead?
If that were the case, with Chu Jingshu’s character, she wouldn’t have let Fang Yingru be her bridesmaid. So either Fang Yingru was hiding her feelings very well, or Chu Jingshu was lying.
But why would Chu Jingshu lie to her?
As she was pondering, Chu Jingshu had already sent her a few more messages:
“I don’t know what to say to her. We’ve known each other for almost twenty years.”
“She hid her feelings so well. I never noticed before, otherwise, I wouldn’t have told her about our situation.”
“Can you help me with some advice?”
Wen Su thought for a moment and typed out a line to send:
“What are you thinking?”
Wen Su had no idea what to do, but as a friend and a contracted wife, Chu Jingshu had asked for her help. She would naturally help.
The moment she sent the message, the status at the top changed to “typing…”
Chu Jingshu: I don’t know. I just see her as a friend.
Chu Jingshu: She’s a really good friend, and I don’t want to lose her.
This was normal. She didn’t have any other feelings for this friend but also didn’t want to hurt her, so she was in a difficult situation.
But what could she do besides giving her the cold shoulder? Although Wen Su wanted to suggest setting up Fang Yingru with her childhood crush, she decided against it.
Wen Su: Don’t contact her for now. If you have to meet, bring other friends along.
The first would make Fang Yingru give up, and the second would keep Fang Yingru at a distance.
Chu Jingshu: But I have a business deal that needs her connection.
Chu Jingshu: Since my family had that incident, my other friends haven’t contacted me.
Wen Su was at a loss. So there was no other way?
Chu Jingshu continued to send messages:
“It’s my fault. I shouldn’t have told her about us. I didn’t expect this to happen.”
“What should I do now?”
Even Wen Su couldn’t help but ask, “What did you tell her?”
There was a pause before the next message came:
“I just said… we were about to get a divorce, and that you’ve been so good to me recently, and I realized I didn’t know you at all, and I feel bad about it.”
The words “didn’t know you at all” made Wen Su feel a little guilty. Fortunately, Chu Jingshu hadn’t grown suspicious. But then again, who would believe in something like transmigrating into a book?
Wen Su patted her cheek and continued looking at the chat. She suddenly realized the solution to this problem was simple. As long as Chu Jingshu didn’t get a divorce, Fang Yingru wouldn’t have a chance.
But they would eventually get a divorce, and Chu Jingshu didn’t want to give Fang Yingru a chance. So, she needed Wen Su’s help to make Fang Yingru give up on her.
Wen Su suddenly understood Chu Jingshu’s plan.
What could be more convincing to someone who wanted to give Chu Jingshu happiness than showing them that Chu Jingshu was already happy?
So, Chu Jingshu wanted her to act out a loving couple to make Fang Yingru back off.
With this in mind, Wen Su went back to her first question. If Chu Jingshu was lying, what was she trying to achieve?
Several thoughts flashed through her mind. Wen Su sent a message:
“You want me to act with you to make Fang Yingru back off?”
This time, the other side didn’t reply immediately. It was as if she was shocked or hesitant. Wen Su waited for a full five minutes before the next message came:
“I guess that’s a possibility.”
“That seems like a good idea, but it’s too much trouble for you. I’ll think of something else.”
So this wasn’t Chu Jingshu’s intention?
Wen Su couldn’t be sure if she was just playing hard to get or if she really didn’t want to bother her. After all, acting was her job, and she had a bit of a soft spot for Chu Jingshu. It wouldn’t be difficult to act like a loving couple.
“I’m sorry to bother you.”
When Chu Jingshu’s last message popped up, Wen Su imagined Chu Jingshu with slightly red eyes, a bitten lip, and a vulnerable look. She couldn’t help but feel sorry for her.
Honestly, it wasn’t that much trouble. It would just be a little cuddling and hand-holding in front of Fang Yingru. Even if Chu Jingshu was lying to her, what could she possibly want? She wasn’t going to lose a piece of her flesh. Chu Jingshu was her friend. Regardless of her identity, this was a simple favor to ask.
Wen Su sent a message to Chu Jingshu, telling her she was willing to help.
“It’s okay. I don’t want to be made a fool of.”
When she saw that message, Chu Jingshu almost laughed out loud. Fang Yingru, who was sitting next to her, leaned over to look and also smiled. “I didn’t expect Wen Su to catch on so quickly.”
Chu Jingshu sent a “sincere” thank you message to Wen Su and said to her best friend, “Don’t mess up when the time comes.”
“Don’t worry. I’m a professional actor!” Fang Yingru said confidently, patting her chest. A mischievous smile appeared on her face. “But you two are so funny. It’s been more than two years since you got married, and you’re just now figuring things out.”
Chu Jingshu’s face turned red. She explained, “What are you thinking? I just don’t want to see her get fooled.”
“Yes, yes. You just have good intentions, and it’s not because you like her,” Fang Yingru said with a laugh. She found her blushing particularly funny.
According to Chu Jingshu’s plan, everyone would think they were a loving couple. This wasn’t just to prevent Wen Su from being fooled; it was to block all of Wen Su’s paths, not giving her a chance to be fooled.
Chu Jingshu glared at her. “I can’t even shut you up with food!” she said, but in her heart, she was thinking a lot.
For the past two years, Wen Su had ignored her, so she hadn’t considered this. But now that Wen Su had shown kindness, she found Wen Su to be quite charming. At a time like this, it was hard for her not to develop feelings for Wen Su.
The Chu family had faced two crises, and Wen Su had helped both times. The first time was for mutual benefit, but this time it wasn’t.
Her old friends had distanced themselves from her after the Chu family’s incident. The few who still contacted her had ulterior motives. The people who truly cared for her were Aunt Wen, Uncle Shen, and the seemingly cold Wen Su.
Why not give it a try?
Once this thought popped up, it spread uncontrollably.
Why not give it a try?
It was like a romantic relationship. There was no better way to start a relationship than with their kind of connection.
If they were right for each other, they could turn their contractual marriage into a real one. They wouldn’t have to lie to Aunt Wen and Uncle Shen anymore, and she would have a family she could truly trust.
“…Chu, what are you thinking? I’ve been calling you for a while.” Fang Yingru nudged her with her elbow.
“Huh?” Chu Jingshu snapped back to reality. “Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about work.”
Fang Yingru looked at her carefully, her face splitting into a big smile. She drew circles in the air with her finger, hinting, “Who are you trying to fool? Do you look like this when you’re thinking about work? You’re clearly thinking—”
Seeing Fang Yingru’s smile, Chu Jingshu brushed her hand away and interrupted her. “Stop joking. I’m counting on you for this.”
Fang Yingru knew when to stop. She raised her hand and said seriously, “Don’t worry. We’ll help each other out with this. That guy is just too slow!”
“It’s a deal!”
Time flew by on set. It was already the 25th. Wen Su was leaving the crew to go back and shoot the promotional photos. In two weeks, she would return to the set to film the last of her scenes, and her part would be officially wrapped up.
Sister Jing came to pick her up and asked her which show she wanted to take.
After reading both novels and asking about the other actors who were cast, Wen Su chose Killing Intent. The girls in Graduation were all newcomers. Compared to that crew, she preferred the one for Killing Intent with its powerful cast.
Sister Jing smiled. “Okay, I’ll contact the producer.” Looking at Wen Su, who was still on her phone, she felt for the first time that Wen Su was truly adorable. Even her standoffish behavior seemed childish.
She didn’t know which acting teacher had taught her, but they had turned a rock into something so polished. She couldn’t find out the name of this senior artist.
But that was between Wen Su and the teacher. Her job was to be a good manager for Wen Su.
Wen Su, who had no idea she was being called “childish,” was still absorbed in funny posts. These funny netizens were her source of joy. She was happy every day.
After getting off the plane, Wen Su and Sister Jing went to the company to discuss the shooting plan with the Camille team.
It was more of a formality. Wen Su just sat in the company’s lounge, playing on her phone, and waited for her team to negotiate the details.
As she was scrolling through an app, Wen Su came across a question:
It’s been rumored that Shen Manhui rejected the role in Sweet Lovers, causing Wen Su to abandon the show. Later, Wen Su took a supporting role for Shen Manhui. Does this prove that there’s an unspoken relationship between Wen Su and Shen Manhui?
Honestly, if the name Wen Su was replaced with someone else’s, Wen Su would also wonder if there was something going on. Realizing this, she knew she had made a serious mistake.
This behavior could easily be misinterpreted. It would be one thing if it was anyone else, but the person she was rumored to be with was Shen Manhui.
From Chu Jingshu’s perspective, what if her wife and someone named Shen had a hidden relationship? And what if, after divorcing her wife, Shen was going to pursue her? Would she agree?
Well…
Why did this feel like she was throwing away a cheating girlfriend to be with the mistress?
Wen Su guiltily rubbed the tip of her nose. She also felt a little wronged. She hadn’t done anything, so how was she the cheater?
Wen Su looked at the answers below and saw that the most popular ones had tens of thousands of likes. This meant that a lot of people had this same thought.
So when she praised Shen Manhui to Chu Jingshu—
Wen Su suddenly understood. No wonder Chu Jingshu’s face turned cold when she praised her. In Chu Jingshu’s eyes, it was her wife praising the mistress.
This was really a tricky situation.
She never thought that a delayed divorce would cause so much trouble. Now there was a Fang Yingru, and Shen Manhui wanting to pursue Chu Jingshu would only make things worse.
Now, it seemed she had to keep her distance from Shen Manhui. If she tried to explain things to Chu Jingshu now, it might only backfire.
Wen Su was crouched in a one-person sofa, thinking about what to do next, when the door to the lounge opened. She looked up and saw her manager, Sister Jing.
“The official shoot is tomorrow, and you—” Sister Jing said, but she stopped when she saw Wen Su crouching on the sofa. She sounded a little helpless. “Why did you take off your shoes?”
Wen Su slowly sat up straight and put on her heels.
While she was putting on her shoes, Sister Jing told her about the shooting schedule. The theme was vintage, and besides some shots in the studio, some would be on location.
In other words, from tomorrow on, she would have to travel a lot.
This was worse than filming on set!
After a long afternoon, she finally got to go home. As soon as Wen Su got home, she went straight to the sofa. As soon as she sat down, Aunt Zhang brought her a bowl of lotus seed soup.
Aunt Zhang smiled brightly. “Tongtong made this. Try it,” she said. Tongtong had learned how to cook a lot of dishes from her recently. Even though Tongtong seemed to act indifferent toward Wen Su, the girl was actually very sweet.
Wen Su gave a subtle look upstairs. She saw a head retract behind the wall on the second floor, as if it was afraid of being seen by her.
Wen Su pursed her lips with a blank face. What was this kid doing?
“Try it,” Aunt Zhang urged her.
Aunt Zhang was so enthusiastic, as if she had to watch her eat it. Wen Su couldn’t refuse and took a spoonful.
The warm, slightly sweet flavor immediately spread across her tongue. Wen Su nodded almost imperceptibly. The sweetness was just right for her.
As soon as she put the spoon down, Chu Jingtong peeked her head out from upstairs. She leaned over the railing and said excitedly, “Ha! You ate the lotus seed soup I made, so you have to do me a favor!”
“???”
Was this a trap?
Wen Su couldn’t help but look at Aunt Zhang. Aunt Zhang looked back at her with a kind smile, as if she was allowing the younger ones to be mischievous.
She had only been gone for so long, and Aunt Zhang was already tricking her with the little tail?
Seeing that she wasn’t angry, Chu Jingtong ran down the stairs and walked up to her, her eyes shining brightly. “The person who eats is bound to give something in return. You have to help me!”
Bound to give something in return? This kid was still living in her house.
Wen Su almost laughed out loud. She grabbed Chu Jingtong’s cheeks, squeezing them until she pouted. She said with a hint of amusement, “What do you want?”
Although Chu Jingtong was annoyed that her cheeks were being squeezed, she was also afraid that Wen Su would get angry. She held back her urge to bite her and glared at her with sparkling eyes. She said defiantly, “My sister has been very upset lately. You have to help her.”
Wen Su was stunned, and she loosened her grip. Afraid that she would squeeze her again, Chu Jingtong quickly backed away and hid behind Aunt Zhang, only revealing her forehead and eyes. She said in a muffled voice, “She’s been getting flowers all the time these days. Are you just going to stand by and do nothing?”
As if afraid she wouldn’t believe her, Chu Jingtong drew a circle with her hand. “A big bouquet of roses! They’ve been sending them for half a month!”
So, Fang Yingru had already started her pursuit of Chu Jingshu?
But Wen Su still felt that something was wrong.
Chu Jingtong continued to add fuel to the fire. “My sister wanted to pick you up today, but she was dragged out to dinner. They called it a get-together with friends. My sister didn’t want to go, but she couldn’t refuse.”
Why didn’t she know about this?
Before Wen Su could figure it out, Chu Jingtong came out from behind Aunt Zhang, grabbed her wrist, and pulled her outside. “Come on! I heard the location. Let’s go together. If my sister runs into any trouble, we can help her!”
Wen Su was pulled along and got up from the sofa. “Wait. I’ll change first.”
Even if she was going to do something, she had to clean herself up first. How could she go out looking like this?
Seeing her T-shirt and denim shorts, Chu Jingtong also realized this. She let go of her wrist and said, “Then hurry up!”
Wen Su had no choice but to get up and go upstairs to get ready.
After Wen Su went upstairs, Chu Jingtong and Aunt Zhang exchanged a knowing smile.

Wen Su: I feel like something is wrong. Do I feel like everyone is lying to me?
