I Became the White Moonlight’s Ex-Wife (GL) - Chapter 15
When Wen Su came out of the shower, there was a loud pounding on the bedroom door, along with the little tail’s anxious voice. “You’re so slow! Hurry up! What’s with all the fuss? If you’re any later, they might leave.”
Wen Su calmly walked into the walk-in closet to pick out her clothes. She chose a pair of sunglasses and a baseball cap.
After making sure that even if she was recognized, she wouldn’t be caught in an unflattering photo, Wen Su went to open the door.
She was grateful that this kid didn’t dare to just open her door and drag her out. Otherwise, she would have been driven crazy.
The door in front of her suddenly opened. Chu Jingtong’s hand, which was clenched into a fist and knocking on the door, was about to hit Wen Su’s body when Wen Su grabbed her wrist.
Seeing Wen Su, who was now fully dressed, Chu Jingtong was stunned. Her pretty face showed a hint of unhappiness. She pouted and complained, “You’re so slow! Come on, let’s go!”
She had planned to go home and take a nap, but she was dragged out by Chu Jingtong.
Sitting in the car, Wen Su gave a small yawn.
Chu Jingtong, who was sitting next to her, saw it and looked away guiltily. She said, “They said they were going to meet at the Lanmeng Cafe. Let’s go there first. If they’re not there, we’ll go look for them at the restaurant.”
Lanmeng Cafe… it sounded familiar.
Wen Su didn’t say anything, thinking about where she had heard of this cafe.
Seeing that she was silent, Chu Jingtong lowered her voice and asked hesitantly, “What’s wrong?”
Lanmeng… Lanmeng, Lanmeng!
It was that cafe!
In the novel, Shen Manhui would often meet Chu Jingshu at the Lanmeng Cafe. This cafe was unique. The coffee and desserts were amazing, but the owner was a handsome and whimsical man. Once the cafe was full, he would stop serving customers. It didn’t seem like he was running the business to make money.
It was hard to even book a seat at this cafe, but every time Shen Manhui went, the owner would smile and save a seat for her.
At first, Shen Manhui thought the owner was her fan, but later she found out that the cafe owner was the husband of Chu Jingshu’s best friend, Fang Yingru. He was also the guy Fang Yingru came back to the country to pursue, her childhood crush, Bo Yuan.
In a flash of realization, Wen Su knew she had found something important, but she also felt it wasn’t very likely.
She was sure that Fang Yingru still liked Bo Yuan. If Fang Yingru was doing this to make Bo Yuan jealous, then what was Chu Jingshu’s goal?
Or did Chu Jingshu not know that Fang Yingru was doing this on purpose?
No, if Fang Yingru really wanted to force Bo Yuan to realize his feelings, she wouldn’t hide it from Chu Jingshu.
Combining this with the WeChat messages Chu Jingshu had sent her, Wen Su felt she vaguely understood her goal.
But why?
Seeing Wen Su deep in thought, Chu Jingtong felt something was not right. If she messed up the thing her sister asked her to do, it would be bad.
“What are you thinking about!” Chu Jingtong grabbed Wen Su’s wrist and shook her arm like she was a spoiled child. “Why aren’t you listening to me?”
Wen Su glanced at her. The latter tried to let go awkwardly but still held on firmly. Even Wen Su could feel the dampness in her palm.
Wen Su looked at the little girl thoughtfully, then took out her own handkerchief and gave it to her. She said with a meaningful tone, “Wipe the sweat from your hand.”
The depth in Wen Su’s dark eyes sent a chill down Chu Jingtong’s spine. Did she get caught?
Chu Jingtong nervously squeezed the handkerchief Wen Su had given her, rubbing it between her hands.
Thinking of her sister’s trusting gaze, Chu Jingtong took a deep breath, and her eyes became more determined.
She would not give up. Her sister had asked her to do this, and she had to get it done!
Lanmeng Cafe was located between the city library and the art gallery. Although it was a good location, it was surprisingly quiet and secluded. It was a good idea to open a cafe there.
Wen Su wanted to get out of the car right in front of the cafe, but Chu Jingtong stopped her. They got out about 50 meters away.
This action made Wen Su confused. It was so hot, and they could have just gone straight into the air conditioning. Why did they have to walk in the sun first?
Out of curiosity, Wen Su got out of the car with Chu Jingtong.
Ignoring the “full, not open for business” sign on the glass door, Wen Su reached out and pushed the door open. The cool air rushed out, and she finally felt comfortable.
As soon as they entered, a handsome waiter walked up to them and said, “I’m sorry, we’re full right now.”
“I’m here to find someone,” Wen Su said calmly, scanning the seats in the cafe. Chu Jingshu was not there.
In other words, they had already left.
Chu Jingtong nudged her arm. Afraid of disturbing the people around them, she lowered her voice and said, “They must have left. Let’s go to the restaurant.”
But Wen Su didn’t leave. She walked to the counter. The counter was high enough to block her view, and when she got closer, she saw a man sitting behind it.
Hearing the footsteps, a low, elegant voice said slowly, “Sorry, we’re full right now. We’re not taking orders.”
Wen Su acted as if she hadn’t heard. She turned to Chu Jingtong and said, “Tongtong, what do you want to eat? Get something for your sister too.”
Although Chu Jingtong found the owner’s rules strange, she was afraid that Wen Su would cause a scene. She grabbed her wrist and said, “Let’s go. It’s full here. He said he’s not taking orders.”
The man behind the counter looked up impatiently, revealing a face so beautiful it was almost genderless.
Chu Jingtong blinked in surprise. The cafe owner was so good-looking!
Wen Su slowly took off her sunglasses and looked at the tall man behind the counter. “I can’t either?”
Chu Jingtong rolled her eyes. She had thought Wen Su was a little scary before, but now she just seemed annoyingly arrogant. Why would he have to know who you are?
Bo Yuan naturally recognized this woman. She was Chu Jingshu’s wife, Wen Su, the annoying, blank-faced actress.
And the girl next to her must be Chu Jingshu’s sister.
His earlier annoyance disappeared. Bo Yuan’s eyes narrowed slightly, and he gave a reserved smile. “Of course you can. What would you like to order?”
Huh?
Chu Jingtong was fascinated by the cafe’s rules. She couldn’t believe the owner would break his own rules just for Wen Su!
What a suck-up!
Although she found the owner a suck-up, Chu Jingtong couldn’t resist the sweet and rich smell. She seriously picked out three desserts.
While Chu Jingtong was ordering, Bo Yuan took out a pen and a notebook and handed it to Wen Su. He said with a smile, “I really love your work. Can I get your autograph?”
Wen Su, who had put her sunglasses back on, glanced at him. His smile was dazzling. She paused for a moment, then took the pen and wrote a series of numbers in the notebook.
Bo Yuan looked at the numbers thoughtfully. The coldness in his eyes disappeared. He smiled and closed the notebook. “Thank you.”
At this moment, Chu Jingtong finished her order and said the names of the three desserts.
After hearing her, Wen Su said, “I have to work, so I can’t have sweets.”
Chu Jingtong looked at her with a hint of disdain. “I didn’t order it for you. It’s for Aunt Zhang.”
Wen Su pursed her lips speechlessly. This little girl was asking for a beating. She was spending her money and even thought of Aunt Zhang, but not her.
Before Wen Su could say anything, Chu Jingtong awkwardly ordered a cup of coffee. “You can’t have sweets, so have something bitter.”
Wen Su finally felt a little better. She gave a reserved nod. “Mhm.”
Carrying the packaged desserts and coffee, Wen Su and Chu Jingtong walked out of the cafe and got back in the car to go to the restaurant.
As soon as Chu Jingtong gave the address, Wen Su’s phone chimed. It was a text message from an unknown number.
“What’s wrong with your wife?”
If Bo Yuan were standing in front of her, Wen Su would have rolled her eyes at him. She quickly typed a message and sent it:
“Ask your childhood sweetheart. What is she trying to do?”
It seemed she was right. Fang Yingru confessing to Chu Jingshu and their date at the Lanmeng Cafe were all for Bo Yuan. And maybe for her too.
If it were the original owner, this trick would have worked perfectly. Because the original owner had no idea who Fang Yingru liked, or who Bo Yuan was.
Wen Su was almost certain this was an act between Fang Yingru and Chu Jingshu, but she didn’t understand Chu Jingshu’s reason for putting on this show.
Could it be for the reason she thought?
Chu Jingtong had no idea that Wen Su had already seen through their plan. Since she had bought some delicious desserts, she was much more relaxed.
“And they said it was a get-together with friends. That cafe only has two-person tables. Where were the other friends?” Chu Jingtong said, deliberately for Wen Su to hear.
Wen Su calmly responded, “Mhm.”
Hearing her response, Chu Jingtong became even more excited. “That girl must have done it on purpose. She tricked my sister into going out, and my sister couldn’t refuse her.”
“Mhm.”
“You have to be careful. If she finds out what we’re doing, my sister will be bothered for a long time!”
“Mhm.”
Chu Jingtong repeated the same points to Wen Su over and over again, and Wen Su patiently responded.
When Wen Su and Chu Jingtong arrived at the restaurant, she realized it was a famous hot pot restaurant.
It wasn’t a peak hour, so there weren’t many people. The waiter led them in with a smile.
Wen Su was wondering how they were going to get her to them, but she saw a girl at a corner table looking at them in surprise.
The reason she called her a girl was that she was cute and delicate, like a porcelain doll.
This porcelain doll was Fang Yingru.
This was a good location.
Perhaps Fang Yingru noticed her gaze, and the person sitting across from her turned to look. Just then, the waiter led Wen Su and Chu Jingtong past their table.
“Oh, what are you doing here!” Chu Jingshu got up in surprise, affectionately pulling Wen Su’s hand and patting Chu Jingtong’s head.
“Sister!” Chu Jingtong pretended to be surprised and rushed into her arms. “Sister Su said she’d take me out for dinner, and I didn’t expect to see you here!”
Seeing the look of shock and confusion on Fang Yingru’s face, Wen Su suppressed her laugh and played along. “What a coincidence. Why don’t we eat together?”
“Yes, please.” Chu Jingshu was more than happy to. She scooted inward, making room on the outside.
Chu Jingtong nonchalantly pushed Wen Su into the seat and sat down next to Fang Yingru.
Chu Jingshu’s face was filled with joy, and her eyes were shining. “Why didn’t you tell me you were back?”
“You have to save some surprises, don’t you?” Wen Su’s tone was as cold as ever, but her dark eyes were filled with tenderness.
At that moment, Chu Jingshu’s heart skipped a beat, and she was suddenly filled with a sense of panic.
She had forgotten that Wen Su’s acting was so good now. She was afraid that she would fall for it, while Wen Su could just walk away without a second thought.
The corners of Wen Su’s mouth turned up slightly. “Are you mad I didn’t tell you?” Her voice was cold, but the affection in her tone was enough to melt a person’s heart.
Oh my goodness, was this person really Wen Su?
Chu Jingtong was brought back to reality when the person next to her kicked her leg. She quickly composed her exaggerated expression.
If she weren’t pinching her hand so tightly, Chu Jingshu would have suspected her face was on fire. She tried her best to stay calm. “I’m not that petty.”
Wen Su didn’t say anything else, but just gave a light chuckle.
With her cold voice, that chuckle was enough to make not just Chu Jingshu, but even Chu Jingtong, who didn’t have a good impression of her, lose her composure.
Just as Chu Jingshu was about to lose it, a cold, hard clearing of a throat suddenly broke the atmosphere Wen Su had created.
Wen Su looked at Fang Yingru coldly, who was giving her a sarcastic smile. “Long time no see, Miss Wen.”
Wen Su’s eyes narrowed slightly. After thinking for a moment, she said with a hint of realization, “Ah, it’s Miss Fang. The first time we met, you were Chu Chu’s bridesmaid. Time flies so fast.”
If Fang Yingru were really Chu Jingshu’s pursuer, she would have been choked by those words. So she naturally frowned, but still managed a fake smile. She responded with a hint of sarcasm, “Yes, time flies. But nothing has really changed.”
“Three years is enough to change a lot of things,” Wen Su said lightly. Her arm naturally fell on Chu Jingshu’s shoulder. She looked at Chu Jingshu with a smile in her eyes. “I wonder when I’ll receive an invitation to your wedding, Miss Fang.”
These words really hit Fang Yingru where it hurt, but she wasn’t that fragile. She was just becoming more curious about Wen Su.
Everyone knew how bad Wen Su’s acting was. She didn’t understand why Chu was not just telling her that Wen Su clearly had feelings for her.
Even though she didn’t understand what was going on between the two, Fang Yingru still remembered her mission. Her face turned serious. “I didn’t expect Miss Wen to be so concerned about my love life. Thank you.”
“Don’t mention it. Chu Chu’s friends are my friends,” Wen Su’s voice was a little colder, which to others would sound like she was getting impatient.
Chu Jingshu, at the right moment, changed the subject. “The pot is boiling. We can start adding things.”
As she was dipping a slice of meat, Wen Su said, “So the get-together with friends you mentioned was with Miss Fang.”
“There were two other friends, but they had to cancel at the last minute,” Chu Jingshu explained, with a hint of frustration in her tone.
Wen Su could hear what she meant.
“She tricked me into coming out.”
Wen Su put the cooked slice of meat into Chu Jingshu’s bowl and said, “Be careful, it’s hot.”
Chu Jingtong, who was sitting across from them, uncontrollably shivered. The next second, Fang Yingru subtly kicked her foot, and she quickly sat up straight and picked up a slice of potato.
Fang Yingru’s eyes were sharp. She said, “I didn’t know Miss Wen was so thoughtful and considerate.”
Wen Su said calmly, “Chu Chu just needs to know.”
“Cough, cough, cough—” Chu Jingtong, who was eating a slice of potato, accidentally choked on some chili oil. Her face immediately turned red.
Chu Jingshu didn’t care about her red face. She poured her a cup of lemon water and scolded, “Why are you eating so fast?”
Chu Jingtong was almost in tears. Who knew Wen Su’s words could be so devastating? She should never have agreed to this plan!
Author’s Note:
Wen Su: You’re trying to trick me? Try my trick within a trick!
Chu Jingshu: My heart is racing.
