I Became the White Moonlight’s Ex-Wife (GL) - Chapter 17
On August 29th, Wen Su’s scenes were wrapped. This time, Su Qiao gave her an even bigger red envelope, and the wrap party was much more formal than the last one.
Among the main cast, Chen Minqi had already finished and left the set. Wen Su was the second main actor to officially wrap up. The other main actors didn’t have much filming left; they would be done in less than half a month, and the whole crew would officially wrap.
Holding her red envelope, Wen Su left the set with her assistant and manager to return to the capital.
Sister Jing had completely changed her opinion of Wen Su. She smiled pleasantly every day and looked noticeably younger.
Her assistant, Xiao Sheng, was, of course, devoted. She already thought her boss was great, except for her acting. The annual red envelopes were enough to make her a loyal fan. Now that her boss’s acting was so good, Xiao Sheng was teary-eyed while helping her with her umbrella, water, and chair during the last few scenes. Anyone who didn’t know would think Wen Su had been bullying her.
“I’ll pick you up at ten tomorrow morning. The director and production team of Killing Intent need to finalize your contract,” Sister Jing reminded her.
Wen Su, who was looking at the clouds outside the window, responded distractedly.
She had initially thought that a production team like Killing Intent would require her to audition, but she later learned from the original novel that the character was very similar to her, or rather, to the original owner’s image: an arrogant, aloof woman with a sharp demeanor.
No wonder such a production team chose her. Although she had a reputation for poor acting, there was nothing to fault about her looks. Coupled with Director Kong Yuxiang’s excellent directorial skills, they decided to go with her directly.
After listing the schedule for the next half a month, Sister Jing sighed. “Besides Killing Intent and Graduation, there aren’t many good projects next year. You’ll have to do some magazines and commercial events.”
She was fully committed now. Since Wen Su’s acting coach was training her, idol dramas could be put behind them. From now on, they had to focus on quality dramas. Every A-list actress only accepts major productions, and there was no need for variety shows in the future. Wen Su needed to shed her “traffic star” label, and given her resources, the high-end route was the most appropriate.
Wen Su rolled her eyes inwardly. She wanted to say that she didn’t want to take any other jobs besides acting. Acting was her main job, and other work should be avoided if possible.
Although the trip wasn’t particularly exhausting, the first thing Wen Su did when she got home was lie on the sofa and play with her phone, ready to fall asleep at any moment.
Not long after Wen Su lay down, she heard a commotion upstairs, which made her frown.
At this hour, the only person who could make such a loud noise was the little tail, Chu Jingtong. By her estimate, the girl would be moving out for university in a few days.
With that thought, Wen Su’s furrowed brow relaxed.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like Chu Jingtong staying here, but if she wanted to start a relationship with Chu Jingshu, or do anything not suitable for children, the little tail would be an obstacle.
The “obstacle” Chu Jingtong heard the noise downstairs and ran down happily. Seeing Wen Su lying on the sofa playing with her phone, she was a little speechless, but still said with enthusiasm, “You’re back!”
Wen Su didn’t move. She shifted her gaze from her phone to Chu Jingtong’s face. The latter was all smiles, her eyes filled with delight.
So Wen Su moved her gaze back to her phone and lazily responded, “Mhm.”
Chu Jingtong: …This person is so annoying. Why does her sister like her?!
Chu Jingtong grumbled internally, then sat on the sofa. “Let’s go out for dinner later. We’ll pick up Sister! You’re finally done with filming and back home.”
Wen Su glanced at her. Did Chu Jingtong come up with this herself, or was it a new trick from Chu Jingshu?
Feeling uncomfortable under Wen Su’s gaze, Chu Jingtong put on a strong front and said confidently, “You finished filming! Isn’t it nice for us to celebrate the end of your work? Besides, I have to report for university on the 4th, so let’s go out to eat together!”
Wen Su turned her head, went back to her phone, and said dismissively, “It’s the same at home.”
With the little tail around, it didn’t matter where they ate. It’s not like they could do anything not suitable for children outside.
Completely unaware that Wen Su didn’t want to go out because she found her an obstacle, Chu Jingtong gnashed her teeth. This person was impossible to like. What did her sister see in her?
But when she thought about how restless her sister had been lately, she felt she had to do something.
Chu Jingtong grabbed Wen Su’s wrist and, regardless of whether Wen Su would shake her off, said seriously, “Please go. You haven’t been home for days. Aunt Zhang’s husband is in the hospital, and there’s no one to look after him. Are you going to force Aunt Zhang to stay and cook?”
Hearing this, Wen Su put down her phone. She looked at Aunt Zhang, who was in the kitchen boiling sweet soup, and asked suspiciously, “How come I didn’t know about this?”
Chu Jingtong rolled her eyes without hesitation. “You haven’t been home, of course you wouldn’t know!”
Then why didn’t Chu Jingshu tell her?
“Are you going or not!” Chu Jingtong was getting anxious. She just wanted to make her sister happy. Otherwise, why would she bother asking this annoying person?
Since Aunt Zhang had to go and look after her husband in the hospital, she couldn’t ask her to stay and cook dinner before leaving.
Wen Su nodded gently. “I’ll go.”
Chu Jingtong finally smiled. “Great! Then we’ll go pick up Sister and give her a surprise!”
Wen Su glanced at her. The latter skipped upstairs like a cheerful rabbit.
This time, the restaurant was specifically booked by Chu Jingtong and was not far from Chu Jingshu’s company.
Chu Jingtong said that her sister usually got home at eight, so they left at seven to pick up Chu Jingshu at the company.
As soon as they parked in the parking lot, Chu Jingtong couldn’t wait to get out and find Chu Jingshu. Seeing her familiar car still parked, she hurriedly dragged Wen Su into the company to look for Chu Jingshu. However, the receptionist informed them that CEO Chu was in a meeting, which would last for another half hour, and asked them to wait in the reception room.
Chu Jingtong and Wen Su, of course, didn’t go to the reception room. They went straight to Chu Jingshu’s office, but unlike the time they brought food, the office door was locked. The two could only stand at the end of the hallway, looking at the city’s bright night view.
“Why is she having a meeting this late?” Chu Jingtong leaned on the railing. She knew her sister was busy with work, but she didn’t realize it was this busy.
She couldn’t help but glance at Wen Su next to her. This person was only pretty; her temper and personality were terrible. She thought her sister was only doing this for the Chu family, but she realized her sister had developed genuine feelings.
What did her sister see in her? She was so busy, yet she still made time to pursue her. Not to mention how distracted she had been lately because of this. Wen Su must have saved the world in her past life to receive her sister’s favor.
As her sister’s sibling, what else could she do but help?
Completely unaware of what the girl was thinking, Wen Su rested her head on her hand and gazed at the night sky, lost in thought.
She had been in this world for several months, and even now, it still felt unreal.
Seeing Wen Su not speaking, Chu Jingtong poked her arm. “Can I ask you a question?”
Wen Su snapped back to reality and glanced at her.
Chu Jingtong asked on her own, “Why don’t you like my sister?”
They had been married for so long. If Wen Su liked her sister, her sister wouldn’t have to work so hard to pursue her.
“My sister is so great. She’s beautiful and smart. A lot of my classmates see her as a goddess,” Chu Jingtong said proudly. Thinking about Wen Su’s attitude toward her sister, she wrinkled her nose in dissatisfaction. “Why don’t you like her?”
Wen Su countered, “How do you know I don’t like her?”
“Of course I know. If you like someone, you wouldn’t act like you do,” Chu Jingtong said with certainty.
The answer surprised Wen Su. A playful smile touched her lips. “Act like what?”
Chu Jingtong opened her eyes wide and said earnestly, “Of course, when you like someone, you would unconsciously smile when you think of them. You’d want to share everything that happens to you with them and hope they’re happy every day. Mhm… it’s definitely not like you.”
Before Wen Su could speak, she started complaining to herself. “You’re always stone-faced, you don’t like to talk, and you ignore people. If you liked my sister, how could you bear to ignore her?”
How am I ignoring her? I even walked into the trap she set for me.
Wen Su found it both funny and frustrating, but her expression remained cold.
Chu Jingtong pointed at her face as if she had found evidence. “See, exactly like this! Like nothing interests you and you don’t care about anything.”
“Oh, of course, you don’t really not care about anything,” Chu Jingtong mumbled to herself.
She still remembered the time Wen Su told her to make sure her sister didn’t stay up late. That was the most wifely thing Wen Su had done, besides playing along with her sister’s act.
That was why, after finding out her sister liked Wen Su, she didn’t try to stop her but instead offered to help.
Wen Su wasn’t as cold and heartless as she seemed.
“Hey, you still haven’t answered my question!” Chu Jingtong yelled. “Why don’t you like my sister?”
How was she supposed to answer that? She did like Chu Jingshu, but the little tail was asking why she didn’t like her.
Wen Su pondered for a moment. Suddenly, she heard the crisp sound of footsteps behind her—high heels tapping on the marble tiles.
The two stopped chatting and turned around. Not far away, Chu Jingshu was walking toward them with a stack of documents. She was followed by a man and a woman, the woman being the same Ms. Linda that Wen Su had seen before.
Chu Jingtong suddenly felt guilty. Her voice might have been a little loud earlier. Sister shouldn’t have heard anything, right?
Seeing Wen Su and her sister, Chu Jingshu was a little surprised, but mostly delighted. Her eyes kept glancing at Wen Su. “What are you two doing here?”
Chu Jingtong immediately rushed up and gave her a warm hug. She said with a beaming smile, “We came to take you out to dinner! The restaurant is already booked!”
Hearing this, Chu Jingshu was taken aback. She turned to the two people behind her and said, “You two can go home. We’ll talk about work tomorrow.”
The man readily said goodbye and left. Linda, however, glanced at Wen Su before saying goodbye to Chu Jingshu and slowly going back to her office.
Chu Jingshu reached out and patted her sister’s head, then looked at Wen Su with a warm and genuine gaze. “Are you done with filming?”
“Mhm,” Wen Su responded, a subtle smile hidden in her eyes, making Chu Jingshu look away uncomfortably.
“That’s good. You must be tired.” Chu Jingshu cleared her throat. “…Do you have any work scheduled soon?”
In the bright light, Wen Su could see that Chu Jingshu’s earlobes were slightly red, but she had light makeup on, so it was hard to tell if she was blushing.
Suppressing her smile, Wen Su said, “Yes.”
Chu Jingshu’s brow furrowed slightly, looking a little disappointed.
Wen Su added, “But I’ll be home in the evenings.”
Chu Jingshu’s brow relaxed. She then realized her reaction was too obvious and lowered her eyes in embarrassment, only to meet Chu Jingtong’s rolling eyes.
Chu Jingshu: …
Chu Jingshu pretended to be calm and ruffled her sister’s hair. “Let’s go eat. It’s almost nine. You must be starving.”
Chu Jingtong, who finally got a chance to speak, quickly called out, “Yeah! Let’s go quickly, or it’ll be a shame if we lose the reservation.”
Luckily, they arrived at the restaurant on time.
The food there was indeed excellent. Chu Jingtong, acting as background scenery, buried her head in her food. When she heard them talking, she pretended not to notice, feeling a strong longing for the time Sister Yingru was there.
Wen Su was talking about very mundane, everyday things, yet her sister couldn’t stop laughing. Her eyes were practically sparkling. It was unbearable to watch!
Wait, everyday things?
Chu Jingtong’s heart skipped a beat, and she couldn’t help but glance at Wen Su.
Sensing her gaze, Wen Su calmly glanced back, then turned her head to continue listening to Chu Jingshu.
Chu Jingtong felt like she might have discovered something.
Perhaps Wen Su doesn’t dislike Sister, but is just hiding it too well?
When they got home after dinner, it was already 11:30 PM.
Chu Jingshu was always mindful of her sister’s routine. As soon as they got home, she urged her to take a bath and go to bed.
Wen Su sat on the sofa, unwilling to move, and let out a small yawn.
Seeing that she was sleepy, Chu Jingshu asked, “Why aren’t you going back to your room to rest?”
Wen Su shook her head and looked at her thoughtfully. “Has Fang Yingru contacted you recently?”
Suddenly hearing this question, Chu Jingshu subconsciously wanted to say no, but then remembering the whole charade, she naturally changed her answer. “Yes, but I’ve been busy with work, so I haven’t agreed to meet her.”
She wondered if it was her imagination, but did Wen Su smile after she said that?
While Chu Jingshu was still wondering, Wen Su said coolly, “She hasn’t given up yet?”
“No,” Chu Jingshu shook her head, looking slightly troubled. Her eyes subtly glanced at Wen Su. She said, “It’s probably not enough yet.”
Not enough what?
Of course, not enough of Wen Su playing along with her.
Knowing full well that this was all a scheme by Chu Jingshu and Fang Yingru, Wen Su found her even more adorable. She maintained a cold expression on her face. “I don’t have much work lately. Leave this to me.”
Chu Jingshu’s face brightened, her eyes sparkling even more. “Thank you for the trouble.”
“You’re welcome.”
Wen Su gave an almost imperceptible nod, secretly understanding Bo Yuan’s thoughts perfectly.
She really was full of mischief, too.

Wen Su: Hmm, Chu Chu thinks I’m not gentle and caring enough. Got it.
Chu Jingshu: Blushing
