I Became the White Moonlight’s Ex-Wife (GL) - Chapter 5
“Hello, who are you here to see?”
The receptionist asked politely. She had a vague feeling that the beautiful woman in the baseball cap was familiar but couldn’t place where she’d seen her before.
The woman in the baseball cap was Wen Su, of course.
She was quite helpless. After being handed the tote bag, she tried to resist, but her father pushed her out the door.
In that moment, she even felt that Wen Su was not her father’s daughter, but Chu Jingshu was.
Despite her internal complaints, Wen Su still carried the tote bag to Chu Jingshu’s company. She wasn’t going to admit it was all for her father’s cooking.
Come to think of it, this company was established with funding from Wanyuan, but the original owner had never been here. Not only did she never bring Chu Jingshu food, but she rarely even called her.
“I’m here to see Chu Jingshu,” Wen Su said with a blank expression.
Seeing that apathetic, world-weary face, the receptionist instantly realized who she was. Her expression became a little more excited, but she kept herself in check. She led Wen Su to the elevator, pressed the 27th floor, and said, “Ms. Chu is in a meeting right now. Why don’t you go to her office and wait for her?”
Wen Su nodded. The receptionist politely returned to her desk, and the elevator doors slowly closed.
“Ding—”
The elevator stopped at the 27th floor. Wen Su walked out, unsure whether to go left or right.
By the time Wen Su found Chu Jingshu’s office, she had circled the entire 27th floor. There were only three offices on this floor. The largest belonged to Chu Jingshu, and the other two were for her assistant and secretary.
Before entering, Wen Su instinctively knocked on the door. No one answered. After a moment, she remembered the receptionist had said Chu Jingshu was in a meeting, so she just pushed the door open.
The huge office was empty. The entire space was clean and tidy. A stack of documents lay on the desk directly across from the door.
Wen Su didn’t wander around. She placed the tote bag on the coffee table and sat on the sofa, pulling out her phone.
She had only been scrolling through Weibo for a moment when she saw her own company’s post announcing the casting for Sweet Lovers.
This morning they were still asking her who to cast, and now the roles were finalized. That was quite fast.
Wen Su grumbled to herself but still liked the company’s Weibo post and continued scrolling.
“It is reported that Shen Manhui fell off the stage at a commercial event and has been taken to the hospital…”
Wen Su’s scrolling finger paused. Wasn’t this the opening scene of Kiss You Under the Starlight?
Shen Manhui opens her eyes in the hospital, and her manager tells her she fell off a stage at a commercial event. She’s shocked to find that she’s traveled back seven years in time.
Wen Su lifted her hand and adjusted her cap. Once the Chronicles of Yunling production started, she needed to stay far away from Shen Manhui.
Not only was she playing Princess Anning, but she was also playing the young lord. Shen Manhui would probably be watching her closely. She might even think that Wen Su was a fellow reincarnator.
Thinking this, Wen Su felt a vague headache. Did she make a wrong move after all?
“You are—”
A soft, charming voice was now tinged with a hint of vigilance.
Wen Su instinctively looked up and met Chu Jingshu’s scrutinizing gaze.
Seeing that the person was Wen Su, Chu Jingshu looked shocked. She even forgot to hide her emotions. “What are you doing here?” she asked in surprise.
Wen Su lifted her chin toward the tote bag on the coffee table and said two words coldly, “Delivering food.”
Delivering food?
Chu Jingshu almost thought she had misheard. She shifted her gaze to the tote bag. Realizing what it was, a look of delight spread across her face. “Thank you. Did Mom and Dad send you?”
Wen Su pouted, and considered it an answer.
This slightly childish gesture was unexpected to Chu Jingshu. A faint smile appeared in her eyes. She closed the door, sat down at her desk, and said, “I have some work to finish. You can eat first.”
Wen Su shook her head and said concisely, “Later.”
She had just eaten dessert before coming. It wasn’t even eleven o’clock yet. It would be a miracle if she could eat anything else.
The curve of Chu Jingshu’s lips became more pronounced. She put her documents aside and started looking at files on her computer. “Okay, we’ll eat together later then.”
Wen Su didn’t feel like there was anything wrong with this. She leaned back against the armrest of the sofa, lazily playing on her phone.
After a little while, she received the script outline for Chronicles of Yunling from the production team. Besides the script itself, it also included the character list, shooting locations, content, and schedule.
Wen Su had been planning to scroll through Weibo, but instead, she found the original novel of Chronicles of Yunling to read. Even though the production team had already sent her the script, she still needed to read the original to better understand and develop the characters.
As an adapted work, Chronicles of Yunling was very readable. Soon, Wen Su was immersed in it. It wasn’t until she saw the names Princess Anning and the young lord that she remembered she was supposed to be working. She got up, went to Chu Jingshu’s desk, asked for two sheets of paper and a pen, and started taking notes.
After reading the proposal submitted by the planning department, Chu Jingshu, who had been frowning, happened to glance over and saw Wen Su intently taking notes. She was stunned for a moment.
From where she sat, she could see Wen Su’s profile. Wen Su’s face was very striking. Among all the popular young actresses, her face was the only one that could be called “perfectly beautiful” without being mocked.
Because it was a beautiful face without any flaws, even though it was always marked with a look of boredom and apathy.
But the Wen Su who was now working so diligently didn’t have her usual cold arrogance. Instead, she had a quiet beauty that made even Chu Jingshu lose focus for a moment.
Just then, the office door was suddenly pushed open, and a sweet female voice rang out, “Ms. Chu, I brought you—” The voice abruptly stopped.
Chu Jingshu snapped out of her daze, realizing she had been staring at Wen Su. She quickly looked away and saw her secretary holding a takeout bag from a restaurant. She subconsciously looked at Wen Su, who was staring blankly at the secretary.
For some reason, Chu Jingshu suddenly felt a little guilty.
The newcomer was a young and sexy woman. The most eye-catching thing about her was her impressive bust. The buttons on her shirt seemed to be on the verge of giving way, as if they were about to heroically sacrifice themselves.
The woman’s face, covered in a delicate layer of makeup, looked panicked and bewildered, probably because she couldn’t figure out why there was a strange woman in Ms. Chu’s office.
This revealed a sweet, naive quality that was in stark contrast to her sexy figure.
It wasn’t that Wen Su had never seen a full-figured, sexy woman before. Chu Jingshu was one of the best examples, but someone with a bust-to-waist ratio this exaggerated, she had only seen in anime.
Could it be that her experience was just too limited?
Wen Su glanced at Chu Jingshu. Indeed, Chu Jingshu was more her type.
Almost making eye contact with Wen Su, Chu Jingshu quickly cleared her throat to break the awkward silence. She said to her secretary, “I’m sorry, Linda. I forgot to tell you that you didn’t have to bring me lunch today. My wife brought me food.”
The word “wife” almost made Wen Su choke on her own saliva, but Linda’s reaction was even bigger. She apologized in a flustered voice, “I’m sorry to have disturbed you. I’ll leave now!” She then hurriedly closed the office door with a loud “bang.”
The bang left the two in the office in an awkward silence.
Finally, Chu Jingshu broke the silence. “It’s already one o’clock. Let’s eat.”
“Okay,” Wen Su replied, gathering her papers and putting them into her bag.
Chu Jingshu took the boxes out of the tote bag. She noticed one of them contained dessert. Wen Su glanced at it and said, “Leave it for your afternoon tea.”
Chu Jingshu really liked desserts. Her heart felt a little warmer, and she smiled joyfully. “You and Dad went to a lot of trouble.”
Wen Su didn’t say anything. She picked up her chopsticks and started eating. She was hungry now. Once her training started, she would have a specialized nutritionist managing her diet, so eating like this would be nearly impossible.
Before Chronicles of Yunling started filming, the actors had to undergo special training. For example, the actresses had to learn how to walk and sit with proper etiquette. The male actors had to do martial arts training in addition to those.
Since she was playing both Princess Anning and the young lord, she would have to train for both. Her training regimen would be a little more intense than the other actors.
Thinking about her training starting in a few days, Wen Su ate a little faster. By the time she was done, Chu Jingshu was still chewing slowly.
“I’m finished. Take your time.” Wen Su wiped her mouth and took out her phone to continue taking notes.
Chu Jingshu, who was sitting across from her, subtly glanced at the notes on the paper. She saw that Wen Su seemed to be writing about character analysis. Chu Jingshu was surprised to realize that Wen Su might be preparing for her new role.
Did she really work so hard before filming? Then her acting… Maybe she was a natural non-actor, or maybe she disdained acting.
This thought made Chu Jingshu frown. If that was the case, why would Wen Su even be in the entertainment industry?
Thinking of the rumors she had heard, Chu Jingshu bit down on her chopsticks.
No, that couldn’t be it. Wen Su denied having a crush on someone that night. It couldn’t be for a person she liked.
Then why was she doing it?
Chu Jingshu’s gaze fell on Wen Su. Wen Su was frowning, lost in thought, before her brow relaxed, and she continued to write.
“Something wrong?”
It wasn’t until Wen Su’s cold voice snapped her out of her trance that Chu Jingshu realized she was staring into a pair of dark eyes. Her face immediately flushed red.
She was staring blankly at Wen Su?
Chu Jingshu quickly composed herself and smiled slightly. “Nothing. I was just curious about what you’re doing.”
Wen Su said concisely, “Character analysis.”
At first, Chu Jingshu didn’t register it, but a moment later, she realized Wen Su was answering her question. Her feelings were complicated.
Perhaps, she had really misunderstood Wen Su.
When Wen Su received the script, the other actors did too. Shen Manhui, who was resting in bed, naturally also received it.
“Wen Su is in it? Did Zhaoyang really give in?”
Hearing her manager’s words, Shen Manhui, who had just calmed down from the shock of her reincarnation, instinctively asked, “What?”
What about Wen Su?
The manager put away his phone and said disappointedly, “The script for Chronicles of Yunling was sent. Wen Su is playing Princess Anning.”
“What?!”
Shen Manhui cried out in disbelief.
Wen Su was playing Princess Anning? Wasn’t it supposed to be Zhang Sui? How could it be Wen Su?
Seeing Shen Manhui’s reaction, the manager wasn’t surprised because he could barely believe it himself. “Not only is she playing Princess Anning, but she’s also playing the male third lead, the young lord.”
Shen Manhui was completely shocked. Wen Su was not only playing Princess Anning but was also cross-dressing for the role of the young lord.
Zhaoyang wouldn’t be so crazy as to let Wen Su play a male role unless her acting was truly solid.
Was this another parallel universe?
While Shen Manhui was deep in thought, she heard her manager complaining, “I don’t know what the creative team is thinking, being so reckless. Don’t they know how bad Wen Su’s acting is? Princess Anning is one thing, but to have her cross-dress too?”
Shen Manhui was stunned again. So Wen Su’s acting was still bad here?
Then why would Zhaoyang make such a choice?
Could it be that Zhaoyang was acquired by Wen Su?
It wasn’t just Shen Manhui who was confused. The other actors who received the script were thinking the same thing. How else could you explain the creative team’s decision?
That afternoon, the news that Wen Su would be cross-dressing as the young lord in Chronicles of Yunling spread online, and netizens began to discuss it heatedly.
